StickChick09 You have a girl snare? We haven't had one of those in like 20 years... Yeah, our director had a "NO GIRLS IN THE BATTERY!!!" attitude until last year. xp I used to love snare (I still love concert snare), but now I'm addicted to mallets.

Our percussion instructor is kinda sexist about the drumline. He hasn't had a girl in the battery in the last 5 years, at least. And it's not coincidence that they do better on auditions. it has nothing to do with that. He puts people we all know are worse on, sometimes because they had siblings who were on top, and sometimes just because they're not girls. Bugs the heck out of me, even though I'm a pit girl and don't play any drums.

I prefer the term "percussionist" as I not only play snare and bass drum, but mallets (or xylophone, marimba, and bells), cymbals, triangle, jingle bells, claves, tambourine, timpani, slapstick, whind chimes, gong, shakers, and more. I think I'll be learning quads and/or drumset this coming August! whee

Hmmmm... my drumline has three female percussionists... it is sad really, one only joined because she didn't want to have to take another class.. another is just really bad, and the third use to be "not so good" but I've been working with her, and she has gotten alot better... I'm not trying to be rude, Girl Drummers rock, but in my opinion it doesn't really matter to me because A percussionist is a percussionist... Darn, this isn't working.. I hope nobody took this the wrong way... time to make my escape... ninja *smoke bomb* POOF! *cloud of smoke* ninja
