[King_Chaos] I must say I feel the same as Shadow, the items that have been coming out lately are random and not kinda meh. For the first two years the items contrasted one another, but a little into 2005 the items started getting random. I think they should go back to haveing contrasting items. Also like Blade said the items have been getting more and more flashy, but it isn't always a good thing. If you use too many of the new donation items your avatar can quickly become cluttered and look sloppy. That's one of the things I liked about the older items; not only are they cool and hard to find (which seems to be the main reasons most people want them), but they can easily be integrated into outfits and don't take up much space(for most of the items). That doesn't change the fact that the old items are starting to look kind of shabby in comparison. Maybe some billowing mist to go with the Nightmare scarf, some angelic lights glinting off the angelic sash. But even without those, the art isn't nearly as refined, particularly for the old items that aren't donation items. I mean, the flame pants look absolutely terrible, not because they're supposed to, but because they lack all depth of artistic design. Heck, look at how much of a bad a** I am now... without new items, I'd never be able to look this cool, and most of this stuff is new. I feel so dirty......

I agree that the new items have much better detail and tone etc. however, some people fill their avatars with new items, and they look so cluttered and over detailed...the basicness of some of the older items is nice if you mix it with 1 or 2 new items...just don't pile hundreds of new items all together, particularly cause they're all similar...like the elemental hair, angelic sashs and gowns and gift of the goddess and lunar scarf...

The old items, though they may be less detailed, are still good. Of couse if they revamped them it would have some positive and negitive effects. Some people would want theirs to stay the same while others would want them more pretty. There just isn't an easy way for gaia to win with this one. But is your going to have a problem with the donation items I would have a problem with the newer ones. Though they may be more beautiful they have been getting kinda bleh lately. The over usage of the wings is starting to get old mostly because they're just beating around the bush of what we originaly wanted by trying to add more of a variety to it. For example: The new Hawk thing, Angelic and Demonic bows, and the Egyption goddess wings. sweatdrop

I definately agree. they may look nicer but the ideas behind them need to be good, and I don't think they are. I think they're really random...I mean..where did the idea for a falcon come from sweatdrop
and they just change old successful designs...like wings and hair and scarves sweatdrop

I don't like the concept behind the items, a lot of the recent ones seem ill-conceived and... well, ugly to me. The two hairstyles feature two decent styles each, the celebrity date is stupid. the dark star, the celestial wrap, and some of the other recent ones didn't even make me want to buy them.
I have gotten four donation items since my main was banned: the shadow spirit, a momo (although that was a bit of an accident) a falcon, and a gift of the goddess. Why? Because those are the only ones I've considered to be any good. (except the pixie, I kinda want one of those too but they were expensive and I could only get one.)
The "random" thing you're all talking about doesn't really make sense to me; why does everything have to be black and white with counterparts? I hate how most of the old donation items are black and white. We need color, and some of the newer items are providing for that. I like the falcon even though it doesn't quite match the art just right.
If anything, I think they should try to move away from the counterparts system they had going in the past. It's better with lots of variety instead of the same item in two colors.

In the very least, they should relate to each other in a little bit. I mean, I serioulsy haven't gotten that many donation items myself because none have been that good for me. They do need more variety even if they're gonna contrast, that much I will say. (Hey look, two gauntlets!) Don't get me wrong, I like variety, but they're not making any items worth getting. Heck, most of the donation items I still want are pretty much old school by now. We're talking items from two years ago that I still want. You wanna know what I've gotten since your account was banned? 4 items. 2 flame swords (for the sake of Axis Red), a chain of command(Which is older than that), and a mythrill armor. Which means I only have 2 items that are even close to new.

They should have a monthly donation imagination draw-off. So that everyone could show off their ideas and draw what the item would look like and all the extras, if any.

I agree there are too many wings, hairs, and scarves, at least.
As I see it, what's wrong with the falcon being random? Why does everything have to be related to each other? Variety is a good thing, and having different themes and ideas behind different items is a good sign that they're trying to think, while having everything related or themed together is a lot less creative.
The problem right now with them doesn't stem from them being random or unrelated, it's because, for the most part, they aren't very well done or don't match very well.

I think one of the reasons they aren't getting well done, as Eurytus said, is probably due to all the things they're doing. They've been adding a lot of events this year, which takes time and effort to set up and they've been working on fixing the site more and more which doesn't leave much time for the donation items. Also to top the whole thing off everyone is wanting the donation items released sooner so they can get them faster.
