Gindion lunashock My BIL has celebral palsy. He got it when he was about 5 months from really bad pneumonia. He had to take lots of speech, physical, and educational therapy (he can't get his GED because he's not good at essay form) but you can hardly tell except he has a limp. He has a good job and is a really awesome uncle. Such beautiful children! Gindion, try not to stress and worry! I know these developmental guidelines used to scare me all the time. Logan was delayed physically, but I think it was because he was rather large and had trouble sitting up and crawling. Now I am a little worried about his speech, but I'm really learning to throw the fears out the window! I hope it goes well though! I try not to worry. But I am just so damned paranoid. And I know all about speech problems. I have a slight speech impediment. I can't pronounce certain sounds. Particuraly the "th" sound, if it's on the end of a word. If it's pointed out, it becomes much worse because I'm thinking about it. I also have a slight stutter. sweatdrop i stutter a lot when i talk fast or get excited 3nodding

And like I said, when pointed out, it gets much, much worse. Examples of my speech problems Actual word-pronounced by me Health- helt teeth- teef worth- wert And add the stutter on top of that, and using a word from the list. I have teeth (not a sentence I'd reguraly use, but came up with off the top of my head) comes out as "I have tuh-tuh-teef."

Argh tell me about it. I had a stutter when I was younger and there's still a bit hanging about. Its mostly when trying to say something that begins with 'H'. It's guarenteed to happen if i'm nervous like for an interview or something. It just makes me sound so stupid. Mind you, If I hear someone else with a stammer, I dont think they sound stupid at all which is wierd. I guess youre more sensitive about it when its yourself. I wonder how it starts off in the first place. As I remember when I was little it just came from no where.
Anyway what I wanted to say was that its a great idea to make this thread! It helps those who are in the situation and also for those who aren't to understand better.

I can be horribly backwards at times... especially with numbers. I was trying to read off an IP address the other day to my husband's friend, got all the way through it with no problems till I get to the last set of numbers. The actual numbers were 266, but when I said them it was 226.
That's why I never try and dictate phone numbers to anyone, I allways write them down or make whoever it is repeat the number back to me so I know that I told them correctly.

My fiance has a learning disability. It's not actually dyslexia, but transposing numbers and letters is a part of it. He has to read things over and over several times to get it right. I don't have any disabilities like that. But I do have Adult ADD.
