The mention of feather tugging made him grin, it seemed to remind him of something similar that had happened to him before. He was used to feather tugging, not so much from foals but he wouldn't put it passed them - particularly if they had a mother like Lovey to encourage them into mischief.
...And his mother thought he was bad!
"Do not tempt fate, I would suspect that the foals within this land would not be too hesitant to play such games and I would rather keep my feathers." He mused before releasing a chuckle. It was only after a few moments that an idea struck him - after all, he did moult...especially as it approached summer.
"Although feathers do fall off occasionally, I could always hold a treasure hunt."

Lovey grinned up at him, Grencia was fun to tease. He was a proud stallion, and took his duties seriously, but sometimes the most serious of Soquilis needed somebody to lighten them up and give them something to laugh at. She probably would never tell her children to attack him fo feathers but if he laughed at the idea well then that certainly worked for her.
... he didn't know the half of what she could think of.
"Oh.. but you have so many feathers.." A half-pout played on her lips and threatened to turn into a grin if she didn't manage to keep her wits about her. "Oi... and I bet you think I'm kidding.. I imagine purple and rainbow feathers would look lovely together." A silly grin split her face,
"ooh... a treasure hunt, I'm afraid I'd want to participate too.. I've never tried one before."

"You have never tried a treasure hunt!" Grencia seemed positively astonished at the thought and shook his head. He had heard many strange things as of late but this was simply ridiculous - treasure hunts were part of his herd's traditions...they honed the skills of the scouts, the gatherers and they provided fun for everyone else.
...Even if it was at the expense of the occasional wind and their feathers.
"Well then." He unfurled his wings and inspected one closely for a short while, nudging his nose against the flight feathers every now and again - there were some very loose ones in there.
"If you can gather together a few more soquili - then we shall have one." He confirmed at last, flashing a smile as he looked up and canted his head to the side. "My wings look ready to moult, I expect I can provide some feathers to seek out."

Lovey bobbed her head innocently, "Well.. I suppose that could be a bit inaccurate.. you see I don't remember any of my childhood.. so I guess I could have gone on a treasure hunt but I bet I haven't... The stuff I do remember usually hurts.." She rambled and stopped, two twin circles of embarressment stained her cheeks. Lovey didn't want him to think she needed pity.
She watched him fan his wings out and grinned, she couldn't help but hope they found some others to do a hunt with.. it'd be such fun...
"Several of them do seem to be just dangling.. but is this the place to have a hunt at? Or perhaps we'll move on? Or just another time?" Lovey was full of curiousity... as one should be if they've not experianced something fun before...
"Hmmm... but I don't want to pick anybody too quick.." She giggled playfully, "Afterall I don't want to be out-hunted."
((Should I scout out some peeps in Soquili to hunt?))

"Well, the aim of a treasure hunt is to hide the treasure in various locations, not just one." Grencia explained as he furled up his wing to ensure he didn't lose any of the feathers in question. "Then, you have volunteers such as myself to give 'clues' as to where they are hidden - one clue per soquili or volunteer you find...hopefully that means everyone has an equal chance." He continued further, canting his head to the side and offering a smile.
...He thought it best to refrain from commenting about her past any more.
"If you gather the soquili now, it will give me time to pluck and hide the feathers and...other trinkets about the land - not in very dangerous locations mind you, but hidden well enough." He mused, mentally taking note of the volunteers he would need to gather, right now raccoons seemed the best option.

((I've been lazy - going to PM Sirenz and double-check she doesn't care about an in-thread ORP w/ prizes.. just in case.. then I'll gather peple.. .then I'll hope my basket comes soonish))
"Oh.. well.. I wouldn't think you'd shake out a few feathers and leave them lieing in a row.. then it'd be well.. a free-for-all fighting for them!" Lovey bobbed her head and giggled slightly, she was probably force-feeding Grencia's ego in spades -- all well! "Clues? Oh how fun!" She grinned and looked back and forth, "I'm starting to think I'd have more fun just overseeing one and then bribing a little one to snatch a feather for me." She winked up and spoke again, "I tend to babble.. just ignore it.. sometimes I think that my hair takes up part of my brain and I just repeat over and over..."
She bobbed her head again and smiled widely, "Maybe I could talk to some of the winged-familiars that I see floating around.. for the winged Soquilis like yourself... make clue for them that they have to work with their flight skills for." She smiled at the idea, "And the rabbit and raccoons should be willing if we think of something to give THEM in return!"

"I have a few raccoons who I am familiar with, I am not so certain about the rabbits though." Grencia confessed. Having lived so far up in the slopes, he often struggled to find rabbits in such a harsh climate and thus they were a rare sight. Even so, as she continued to ramble on he couldn't help but appreciate her compliments just a little more than he should - she seemed to be genuinely honest about her like for his plummage.
"And as for leaving feathers in a row..." He shook his head and unfurled a wing, nudging the most loose of them away. With a small 'clip' of soon it fluttered to the ground and rested just below its nest. Surprisingly, it was much large than could be anticipated, apparently half the length of it was hidden beneath other rows of feathers.
"Better?" He enquired softly, nudging the feather towards her that had an almost lilac hue. It wasn't quite the same colour and seemed to vary in colour depending on how the light hit it - from blues to purples but it matched her coat relatively well.
"Now you will not need to bribe them."

Lovey grinned and stopped her babbling and rambling.. almost, "One of these days I'm going to get a hoof to the mouth for all the chattering that I do." She looked around at the cold area, "I hope it wouldn't be around here.. as I don't know very many colts and fillies that are hearty enough to endure cold weather long enough to hunt." She smiled and winked, "I've not had one, so I guess they could be tougher than they look!"
She watched the feather float to the ground and grinned, "oooh... but it would have been fun to bribe them, and watch them have at you.." She picked the feather up with her teeth as delicately as she could and turn her head, stabbing it into her mane. "Hm.. I'll let my two legger attach it in somehow.. but for now I think that will be good enough!"
Lovey moved in and gave him a friendly nuzzle on the neck, nothinges sexual to it as she had seen many other couples... loving on each other ina similar way. She moved back and giggled once again, in a great mood even if the weather wasn't blazing sunshine...
"You spoilt my fun, but I suppose I'll forgive you!"

Nuzzles were not something he was entirely unfamiliar with but the expression of affection between one individual to another was something he considered rare. He was hardly undesirable - he knew he was attractive to many mares but due to his position within the herd, he often found his time in their direct company to be sporadic.
Most Wind stallions who acted as scouts and guardians were often only seen during special gatherings. For the birth of first born children, the coming of spring or the emergence of a new elder - otherwise, they were rarely seen and rarely heard.
...It was a sacrifice they made willingly as their herd was always safe.
Still, he didn't shy away from it and having become relatively comfortable around the young mare he arched his neck appreciatively and then offered his own nudge, readjusting the feather so that it was more stable in the process!
He was a little bit of a neat freak.
"I apologise for spoiling your fun, I will be certain to add additional treasures for you to find." He pointed out, contemplating what other prizes to hide alongside his flight feathers...as only a certain amount would come out.
"Do you think apples count as prizes?"

Lovey on the other hand had only had one or two nuzzles in her lifetime, and she shied away from touching others. She didn't mind being pet and loved on but she had absolutely no idea most of the time how OTHERS would react to the attention and touch. Her naivete shown through clearly somedays. She smiled a bit and bobbed her head, arching her neck in response to his own touch.
"Why thank you.. Now I have no worries of the feather falling out nor do I have to worry that it's crooked." She grinned up at him. His life as a guardian would probably be rough on his Yei.. provided her convinced her to take him back. She supposed that the perk to BEING a guardian of a herd though is a sense of conviction and stubborness that would drag a person through life.
She wondered if she'd be strong enough to guard a herd of her own if one ever came to be.. She supposed time would tell?
A wicked glint danced in her eyes and she tossed a wayward strand of hair out of her eyes, "Apples would be a lovely edition.. but I wonder what I myself may choose to hide to give YOU a bit of a challenge and fun!"

"Now that, I will leave entirely up to you." Grencia murmured softly, unaware of her own thoughts. He was used to continually reviewing his life but he wasn't used to having others take it into consideration. Had she voiced her thoughts he would have suggested she speak with Yei personally but alas he was no mind reader...
Either way, it would be much easier for some things.
"I rather enjoy pleasant surprises." He added, mentally noting that it would make a change to have a pleasant surprise. The last surprise he had involved discovering that a certain female was very much alive and was less than pleased to see him.
Actually, a pleasant surprise would be highly appreciated.
For the first time in a while he gave a genuinely warm smile and took the opportunity to look the mare over. Despite her naivety she had a good heart and he would be loathe if anyone abused it - actually, he would do more than loathe, he would give them a swift kick to the side of the head!
"So, have you set a date for this yet?"

"Well then I will just leave the thought unfinished." Lovey didn't dare admit to him that her mind had wandered a bit and it was hard to remember what exactly she was leaving up, she knew of course.. it was just that when one's mind moves onto other topics it's hard to return with ease. Shaking her mane out she grinned up at him, I'm a ditz.. she repeated to herself...
Hopefully she was the only one that would ever figure out THAT particular truth.
"Who doesn't enjoy pleasant surprises?" She grinned and decided that she wouldn't answer that as there were many... twisted personalities in the world that probely did enjoy painful surprises and then the uptight people that didn't enjoy surprises in any form. Those people just simply wouldn't count. They couldn't be normal could they?
Silly people.
His eyes and features seem so much younger when he smiles... were her first thoughts. Lovey couldn't help but feel hope that the two would learn, Yei and Grencia, would learn to settle their differences and get along as one once again.
"I think it should start on the 26th of this month... sounds like a nice time to start a hunt don't you think!?"

Hmm...He mentally counted how many times the sun had drifted through the sky - eight more rotations and it would be time. It seemed like a reasonable amount of time, no doubt it would be perfect given what some of the prizes were - another eight days and they would just slip out of his wings as opposed to being tugged out.
"That sounds perfect." He voiced at last, lifting his mind from his thoughts. All in all, the treasure hunt would be refreshing and a little bit of fun - time out from his true purpose for being here.
"Then might I advise you on the location." He unfurled a wing and pointed it in the direction of the mountain slopes. Very slowly he allowed it to drift until at last it settled on the still snow covered land that seemed to border the forests...
"That is the land in which my herd resides, it covers both slope and forest making it ideal for treasure hunting. Provided the treasure hunt is over before it grows dark it will be the perfect location - Blais makes certain that it is void or predators and it has many places to explore." He flashed a smile and shook his head.
"There is also a trail in the woods that will make it reasonably easy to access, especially for the foals. There is more grip for the young ones if they use the trail." He continued, mentally piecing together the few things that were most important to him - he would allow Lovey to hide the items but he would worry over the safety of those involved.
...The mountains were dangerous.
"If you wish to arrange for guides up, I shall find some."

Eight long evenings.. Eight! Lovey wasn't an anxious mare but the idea of getting to help others have fun and to see how clever the new foals and colts were had a definate appeal to her. Chuckling she winked up at him and tried to decide if she wanted helped up the mountain along with the other things he had said.
"I assumed too that that'd be just the right amount of time.. it'll be three to four days of travelling for me I'm assuming and after that I'll want a day to rest and two days to gather people.. and the last days I'll hide everything. I dont want the feathers hidden too soon as they'll blow away potentially or be found on accident and taken."
She watched where his wing and eyes looked and she figured she'd be able to get there on her own. She was a fast runner and intelligent enough to talk her way out of any trouble she might accidentlally find.. "Blais is your leader? " Lovey smiled and nodded her head in approval, the little ones there could learn to live on their own and be their own people and manage to stay safe.. "Yes.. It sounds wonderful..."
"Do not worry about guides for the whole journey.. but instead on the third days send scouts to look for me.. I should be nearing your home and from there the last day I can make my way by seeing them flying over once or twice a day..." She smiled and hoped he was alright with that.. her safety was probably first.. What a refreshing feeling.

Grencia shook his head and her question, the thought of Blais leading the herd was somewhat amusing but he did do a good job of keeping them safe on the ground. While Grencia dealt with immediate threads from afar, he was still very much an 'unofficial' part of the herd due to his binds with those on the other side of the slope - his duty to the herd that had sired him.
"I will be sure to send scouts, or alternatively meet you myself." He canted his head to the side and allowed a smile to flicker up onto his lips, "It is only polite." He pointed out.
"And as for Blais, he is the official protector of the herd I speak of - Yei Umeko is the Alpha. At present I am merely the long distant scout and guest but I am well aware of their appreciation for games." He explained, the smile deepening slightly as he pictured Yei's response to the sheer amount of soquili (particularly children) nearby.
"Although I must admit that if Blais were to take part I suspect some of his actions may be questionable."
