Rogue nodded slightly, "Ah got lost once... well, not really lost... but Ah had no way home for a while... they were all out lookin' for meh... Ah told them Ah'd be back in an hour. They're probably all out lookin', well except for Azurill of course. Ah'm currently the babeh of the family, so they're really into keeping meh safe."
Inching closer to the fire, she sighed. "Ah hope they don't get too worried, Ah hate makin' 'em worry." Looking up at Serge, she smiled.
"What about you? Ah bet with ya dad doin' all that magic stuff, he's probably makin'a potion to find ya right now. Unless you didn't tell him when you were comin' home." Her lips curved up into a grin.

Serge shook his head in answer. "He doesn't worry about us the way most parents do...he was careful when Riku was an item, but that stage seems to be the only one where he worries."
Serge held up his right arm, let the string of beads that held a small charm in place glint in the fire light. "We each where one of these, even father...if anything should happen to one of us, that puts at true risk, the others will react..." The charm was a simple looking one, a set of five loops, each looping through all the others. "Each loop represents one of use, each with it's own color...depending on which one light up, we can tell who is at risk, and even where they are."
"The fact the the purple loop remain quiet and dim, means that I'm not yet at risk, or..." Serge trailed off there, wondering if he should continue.
There were things his father taught them to believe in, that many other people refused the possibility of. Was Rogue one of those people? Would he only make her think of him as weird if he went on? Why did it suddenly matter so much to him that she did or didn't?

"Really? Everyone in my family's so protective of each other, Ah can't imagine it any other way... but Ah guess if you're used to it, it's different then, hm?" She said with a smile on her face.
"That's... that's really... somethin'... so did your daddy do that with his magic? That's really neat, Ah don't quite understand it, but Ah like it. It's not a big thing, but it does it's job."
"Or... or what?" She leaned closer, probably not the smartest idea since they were on opposite sides on the fire, but she wasn't that close to it, so she didn't worry herself about it.
Leaning back slightly, she paused and shrugged. "Or are ya not supposed to tell meh? Ah can understand if ya ain't allowed."

Sighing, Serge decided to go on. "This charm...is one of my father's greatest works...with everything its able to do, its considered to be extremely powerful..."
Looking into the flames in front of him, Serge nodded to himself. "But it has one condition under which it will not work." He looked to the caves mouth, his purple eye narrowing and deepening to an amethyst purple. "It will stay quiet no matter how much trouble one who wears it is in, if what they're facing is a challenge chosen for them by destiny..."
Part of him knew sounded foolish to say such things, as most people refused to believe in destiny as a whole. Not liking the idea that somethings sat beyond their control.

"That's... that's stupid. Ya shouldn't have a set line of what you have to do. Ah believe ya can change yer destiny." pausing for a second, she rethought all the words she said.
"Ah didn't mean... it's not stupid but... it's... it's stupid! So if yer destiny said ya had to jump off a cliff, and you were being attacked by... wolves... As long as they make ya jump off the cliff nobody will know yer in danger!?"
her lips curved slightly into a discontent look. "Ah don't like that at all, Ah think that if yer in danger, it should blink or whatever. No matter what." She nodded, her words strong but the meaning behind it was stronger.
She didn't believe in destiny that much, but she didn't bash people who did. She bashed the idea of 'we wont know you're in trouble because it's meant to happen.' She liked being in charge, whether it was true or not, she thought it so it was.

Serge shook his head in reply. "It's not what you're thinking..." His voice was quiet as he spoke. "A challenge chosen by destiny is something with multiple answers, multiple outcomes."
Turning back to Rogue, he allowed his eyes to return to normal. "People group destiny and fate as one...they aren't. Destiny is nothing but a question you most choose an answer to, but, no matter how hard you try, you can't simply ignore the question, you most listen and answer."
"Fate is different...with fate there is only one solution, or at least that is what those who believe in fate think." He looked back to the fire at this point, continuing on after a moment. "Fate is an ideal, made up by those who refuse to take the reigns and plow their own course in life. Destiny is a truth, it's challenges meant to help us shape ourselves..."
"So...in essence I guess what I'm say is, that destiny is the defining moments in life that must be faced, and the charms are not allowed to disrupt those moments." Nodding to himself, at the sound of his words he went on to make one final note. "The reason the charms won't work in such a situation is simple this...a challenge of destiny will never have an answer that leads to death...it's against its very principles, as it's meant to shape life..."

"That's way too complicated... Ah mean, Ah understand everythin' yer sayin'... but Ah still don't like it."
"Destiny's better than fate, but Ah still dun' like either of them. I like thinking that I rule my life, without guidelines, without an end point. What's the point of living if no matter what you do you end up in the same place?"
Rogue paused in her thoughts as she tried to think of something positive, "But Ah guess it's good, 'cause then ya can't stray too far away from the path that yer's supposed to stay on, hopefully it's good."
"Ah guess that makes sense... but Ah still don't like it." She grinned, "Shaping life? It all sounds better once you take the death option out of it."
Another paused.
"Ah'm startin' to get hungry, Ah wonder if there's any food around... Be right back!" She said as she stood up and jogged out of the cave, "Ah'm gonna see if there's berries and stuff nearby!" And she was gone.,

Serge last about thirty seconds before he was on his feet and following her. He's family might not be over protective of each other because of the charms, but they all did have heavy protective streaks in them...and a bad tendency to take the world on their shoulders.
Looking around, he didn't see her, but then, he couldn't see much of anything in the dark after staring into that fire. So he stayed standing there, just outside the cave, waiting for his eyes to adjust before heading into the woods.
He'd feel bad if anything bad happened if he simply stayed in the cave after all.

Rogue had run off to the side, not too far off but behind a bush that blocked part of her body. She reached up for a big cluster of berries as she hummed to herself softly. Standing on one foot, on her tippy toes, she finally wrapped her fingers around the top and pulled them down.
Of course, since she wasn't balancing herself well at all she ended up falling into the bush and rolling off, falling to the ground with a 'thunk'.
"... Owww." She groaned. She wasn't badly hurt, but the shock from the fall wasn't very pleasant. Sitting up, she grinned at her accomplishment. Bright red resberry looking things.
She stood up and looked down at herself, she was a little dirty, and hd a few scratches, but they weren't even bleeding. She felt proud of her achievment as she headed back to the cave.
"Serge, lookit what I found!" She called out as she popped one into her mouth and chewed happily.

Serge just kinda blinked at first, but shook himself out of the stare after a moment. "Are you sure those are safe to eat?"
It was is only real worry truth told. He knew most everything else he needed to know, unless one of them got a bad injury that is, but he had no idea about what was safe to eat in the wild.

"Yeah of course, we buy these kinda berries all the time... of course, they're clean and packaged, but they're the same ones." She said, nodding cheefully as she held her hands out for Serge to take some.
"Trust me Serge, I wouldn't offer ya somethin' if Ah didn't know it was safe."

Serge looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding and taking a few and popping them in his mouth. His eyes went a little wide at the taste.
"Whoa..." He muttered before shaking his head a bit. "Those are rather sweet..." He added after a second. Though, he might not be the best judge for that in the end. His diet at home was one mostly of meet.
Dangers of living with a parent that's part fox.

"But they're good, at least Ah think so." She said as she cupped her hands over the rest of the barries and headed back to the cave.
The thought of staying in a cave overnight didn't really appeal to her, but she wasn't about to complain. It's not like it would do any good.

Serge and looked out at the heavily wooded area they'd come through, would they be able to trek back through it tomorrow morning? "Why doesn't this feel real...?" He whispered to the wind, curious eyes looking for an answer, though he knew there'd be none.
Turning, he followed Rogue into the cave, something told him this wasn't entirely what it seemed...too many things just didn't add up. The cave most of all...it was simply too out of place, too convenient.

Not paying much attention to Serges' words, Rogue walked into the cave and set the remaining berries in a pile next to, but not close to the fire.
Pulling her legs up, she rested her arms on them and glanced over at Serge, "It's going to get dark soon."
