[Q] The sad thing about this is that I learned all my investment tecqniques from gaia before I started applying them to the real world. sweatdrop Then I stand corrected. I guess Gaia does apply in Real Life ^_^

my gawd. what i have learnt is that for the letters, it is difficult to work, any items predating dec 2003 are worth loads more than jan 2004, i joined in december and i regret selling my scarf, i wish i had earned more golf back then and bought some. but youth has disadvantages. now, i do not claim to be a rich gaian far from it. Even though my inventory is worth well over 1 million gold... I consider myself relatively poor, i cannot even afford to purchase items like the scarves. I am trying to get 9000 gold, and it's taking me forever...
I would appreciate inflation of the items i have and deflation of the large pockets of rich gaians. A casino system may help, like planned previously.

JoVo Unlimited supply at state-directed prices is the worse thing that can happen to people like me. crying xp Matiko-san THIS IS A GAME! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO ANALYZE! YOU can't HONESTLY apply Real Life lifestyles, policies, forums, etc, to a GAME. It takes out the fun. It makes it boring and pointless. Gaia was developed for people who liked anime/manga, and to give them a chance to live in a world like that. NOT to analyze how the Gaian Staff allow us to buy donation letters from people that donate to Gaia to keep it running. Our point on being here is to *have fun*. Not become political/financial analysts, and confusing the majority of Gaia with matters that aren't even theirs to understand, let alone vote on. I think everyone's taking things a little far... Not at all. Part of the joy of a game like Gaia is that you can play it on whatever level you like, superficial, or strategic. Kind of like Jovomon. I mean, Pokémon. You can just play it to have fun and be a collector, or you can go competitive, bereeding complex movesets, setting up combos, counting EVs. JoVo I think you need to get out of this thread. Start one on fashion or something. Let us enjoy our game the way we like. *shows you the door* stare Just because Mati's being an a**... Seriously, you need to watch it. I want to trust you again. Matiko-san Oh piss off. You're just upset that you know I'm right. I think it's ridiculous you're dragging a game down. Unfortunately this thread doesn't violate any rules, so I can't get it shut down. But you can't throw me out of this thread because I don't agree with you, and tell you honestly that I think you're going too far with a bloody game. Q: I'll go where I want, and I'll say what I want. And if I think you and JoVo are taking a game too far, by applying a financial analytical aspect to a game. I don't think this is what Gaia was meant for. stressed Excuse me. He can't throw you out, but I can. All the way out. Because you're trolling this thread. You have a right to say what you want. But don't think there won't be consequences. You stated your opinion, fine. But you don't need to have that kind of disrespectful attitude with the other users. And really who the hell are you to say what Gaia was meant for? JoVo *thinks about how to make more money* [Q] As for buying then selling store items, why bother keeping it if you're not going to wear it? It's only hindering your income rate... I know! But I... I... I'm a shop-aholic. crying I might try a makeover service. who wants to help? And in terms of store items... I love my huge-a** inventory. Beta will make me sad sad [Q] JoVo: Doesn't matter much if you're a shop-aholic. Just don't be a pack rat. 3nodding But whenever I sell something, I suddenly think of the perfect outfit using it... Matiko-san I'm enjoying myself just fine. I just don't see the point of analyzing and complaing about things that don't really exist to begin with. It spoils the fun of collecting these items. I for one plan on buying donation letters whenever I can afford them. If it damages Jovo's appreciation time for his items, so be it. Since he wants to make Gaia into RL, he can deal with it. How does it spoil it? And it's not like he told you to stop buying letters, he just wondered how to cope with the fact that everyone is, and to a point where the sytem breaks down. JoVo Matiko-san You're just upset that you know I'm right. No one thinks you're right. We all think you're annoying and effeminate. We also think you have the mental capacities of a nine-year-old. But it's things we don't say because we don't want to be mean. Until you get me to this point. Then I have to be honest, and I feared you wouldn't appreciate it. scream He's not the only one who doesn't. Don't be a weed. Matiko-san Actually, I wasn't flaming anyone. If you re-read my first post, you'll see I was only trying to understand the point of this thread. It was actually you and JoVo that started the flaming first. I only continued and finished what you both started. So please, keep your facts straight. Actually, I don't see that at all. Well, in your first post, and JoVo's response, I see civility. Then I see you yelling at people about how wrong they are to play the game the way they want, and them reacting with increasing and understandable, though inappropriate, intensity. JoVo prices will demonstrate the changes, and new purchases will be easier to make, and we'll lose money on all our investments. I'll lose millions in gold. Millions. I don't want that. Inflation is much better for me. I want more of it. I want your gold to be worth less so I can profit. Is that so bad? xp Millions? if you have millions, you are essentially set for Gaian life. Also, you should buy me a Halo. JoVo Absolutely! Which means that the poor will have trouble buying new items, but the rich will earn millions in selling off investment items they already own. Isn't this the argument AGAINST Shrub's economics? It seems that the trick is to liquefy your assets right before the crash. All a matter of timing.

[Q] The sad thing about this is that I learned all my investment tecqniques from gaia before I started applying them to the real world. sweatdrop Not sad at all. I learned most of my stuff when I first began trading on Everquest. Then I actually took college-level economics and started applying it. It works stupendously. You'd be surprised how much Gaia is like the macroeconomy of a nation-state. wink Vague Seriously, you need to watch it. I want to trust you again. Well, he was kinda being an a**. sweatdrop Vague And it's not like he told you to stop buying letters, he just wondered how to cope with the fact that everyone is, and to a point where the sytem breaks down. Yup, yup. We can't fight trends. We can only cope. 3nodding Vague Millions? if you have millions, you are essentially set for Gaian life. Also, you should buy me a Halo. The millions include the halo. I'm including my investments in my net worth. wink Vague It seems that the trick is to liquefy your assets right before the crash. All a matter of timing. gonk Not... all of them! crying

JoVo & Vague:
You can always re-buy the store items. But here's what you do.
Go to the store and look for item you want. Note price.
Go to Charity forum or marketplace. Look for item you want.
See which price is lower. Buy from there.
Ta daa!
And JoVo, I just sold one of my zombie labcoats for 64k.
Hold onto your's... I bet they'll reach a million by next year. 3nodding

I agree with Montigo. Gaia needs to put a limit on inventories eventually, or the site'll exceed it's bandwidth when it comes to people viewing their inventory and customizing your avatar.
That doesn't mean Gaia will force you to sell your items, you'd be allowed to keep what you have, I'm sure. But, you'd have to have a way to store them. On Neopets, they use a Safety Deposit Box, where you can store your items. Although, this isn't just to help with bandwidth issues, it's also a safety precaution against random events, where creatures (like the Pant Devil) can't steal the items you earned/bought on your own. Which is a good thing, because neopets retires items after a certain length of time, forcing their values to practically skyrocket. On top of that, there are items, which are so rare to begin with, their items are practically "unbuyable" because the prices in stores, and marketplaces, are so high. In fact, Neopets puts a limit on prices in most user-owned stores, saying that anything with a price higher than 100,000 neopoints, cannot be purchased from the store. This, of course, means that any item you see displayed in a user's shop, with a price of 100,000 np or higher, is called a "gallery item" and is really just there for display. But, some users are willing to part with the item, if you can give items of sufficient or equal value in return.
I bring all this up, because, it's possible at some point Gaia will or have to, adopt a similar system, so that 56k modem users can still enjoy Gaia ^_^. Plus, once Gaia Fishing and the Casino open, mini-games will allow gaians to earn gold even faster than before, and item purchasing will skyrocket, making things that are in abundance now, even less so from there on. And that brings us back to why Gaia should and probably will, limit the sizes of an inventory.
