[Q] Then what are your views on cutting to relieve stress, Nymphie? Cutting is ******** STUPID. Worse then smoking to me. Those people need to be locked in rehab until they learn new ways to deal.

... Smoking is bad, and I think it's a disgusting addiction. However, I can understand the need for people to relieve stress. As long as they don't smoke where others can be harmed, such as hospital patients, pregnant women, and the like, then I don't complain.
The one person I object to smoking is... my mom. She smoked for years and years around me until I got asthma, and then she quit for a while. Then she got breast cancer. Then she started smoking again. I think it's disgusting that with an asthmatic husband and daughter, she continues to smoke in her car and on our back porch. I'm relived that she doesn't do it around us, but I don't want her to get cancer again.

Although I really don't care if other people smoke... I do feel that it isn't the most intelligent thing to do... (tobacco, not weed... that's another issue...)
But whether smoking makes people do stupid things, or if stupid people are naturally attracted to smoking... iono.. maybe both?

Ponder that one... >_>

As for the weed matter discussed a few pages back... The government originally banned it in the 70's because of who was using it. They thought that they could change the hippies by banning their stuff, or at least get them all arrested and make them stop protesting. There were also crappy studies out back then (government approved, of course!) that showed weed having a negative effect on the brain.
The government simply hasn't updated its laws, mostly because of the nasty misconceptions most people- and congresspeople- hold about it. Also, there's a lot of nasty stuff mixed into it nowadays. It's not just pot. It's pot + cocaine or mushrooms or formaldehyde or something else much worse.
Anyway, at this point, I think medical marijuana would be okay, and marijuana should only be legal if it becomes more controlled.
And there was discussion of alcoholism. Well, alcoholism runs in my family, my uncle died of cirrhosis, my brother drinks way too much, my father drinks more than I'd like him too but not to an extreme excess, and I don't like the stuff. Alcohol is probably more dangerous than other drugs because it's legal and easily abused. A drink to celebrate and maybe at the end of the week to unwind, that's all a person should need. Not just to loosen up or because it's fun to forget what you've done. I don't know.

[Q] Sibeiko And until I see scientific, documented evidence to the contrary, I'm going to go with what I've read about the studies on marijuana... You mean like, oh s**t, the ones I provided? rolleyes Seriously Padme, if you wish to blindly believe lies people are feeding you, go with that. I'll stick with my 5+ documented sources that prove you otherwise. Peles: Wow. My great grandmother was literally crazy. My view on mentally ill people and those who claim to be mentally ill has been skewed because of that. Everything changes when you see it in action. I'm sorry for your great grandmother. =( heart At least I don't insult what you think.

but yeah. I know like three people my age that smoke. One had to stop because her mom found out [even though she only did it when she was really stressed or whatever] and the other... haha, the other hid her lighter in her bra. It was funny, it fell out in taco bell and in school once.
my dad started smoking when he was 13, too. and my stepdad smokes. I don't really care about it as long as its not like. the cheap s**t. those things smell terrible.
I doubt I'd ever really start smoking 'cause of how my grandma died. XD

Keeping a lighter in a bra? That must be quite... hot.[/Lame Pun Intended] Put seriously, imagine what would happen if the lighter turned itself on at a Taco Bell.
HUMAN FIREBALL!
Then Taco Bell will stop making spicy food.

I think that smoking is very unhealthy and bad to do, but I don't think any less of people just because they smoke. That's about all I have to say on the matter.

I really don't care if people smoke. Sure it's an unhealthy habit, but so is eating fatty food and drinking coffee. I don't think I'll smoke now because it's not really my thing, but I don't think less of people because they smoke.
