Love and Monsters was the first episode of Doctor Who I was shown (my friend indoctrinated me into it and thought it was a good episode for a first-time viewer to see). So, it holds a special place in my heart and perhaps I'm prejudiced in favor of it.
I thought Fear Her was annoying, mostly just because I thought Chloe Webber was annoying while possessed.
I didn't like Girl in the Fireplace much. I felt like it was completely lacking a point.
I love love loved School Reunion, I thought it was an exceptionally well-told story about the toll that traveling with the Doctor can have on a Companion's life.

I didn't mind School reunion, but just... it was more of a kids episode, you know, monster teachers... and I didn't like the headmaster, how he always made the weird noise and put on the evil face... But I liked how he explained everything to Rose. Girl in the fireplace wasn't all that bad though, I mean, I didn't like how he went through the window on the horse, but when Madame De Pompadour read his mind, ... well, of course that made me morbidly curious as to what she saw! 'oh so lonely'... well, at least we know ONE thing about the Doctors childhood. But I'm still sticking with either Fear Her or L&M being the worst this season.

Mind you, I'm fascinated by that period of history and I would kill to wear some of the dresses that Reinette wears! It won the Best Costume award in the DWM 2006 Season Survey, and no prizes for guessing why. Fear Her was actually the least popular of the series.

Gelasius Hi gang, I've seen all or almost all of the Chris Eccleston episodes, but not any of the David Tennant ones, so I bought the DVD of the whole 2nd season. I've seen all the episodes and I must say that Love & Monsters is the absolute worst episode. I'm sorry, but I"ve always liked the scenes that the doctor is in. And he's hardly in this episode at all. Am I right in this? Tell me if you agree or disagree. Gelasius Actully mine are between love&monsters and the runaway bride About your opinion on Love & monsters, It's about those who try to figure out who he is it's more for comedy's sake then anything else. It also gives you a hint that something is going to happen.

Love and Monsters sucked
Despite popular opinion, tooth and claw was legend
This was the opinion of Crumpet Lord

Tooth and Claw was a great one! Even for only the few reasons I give, that a) it had Tennant talking Scottish! and b) it was the main reason my friend started watching Who. mrgreen Then she spouted random quotes from New Earth at least once a day for the two weeks following. xd

I really disliked The Idiot's Lantern. The idea was good, but it just didn't seem to click for me. On the other hand, I loved The Girl in the Fireplace and Love and Monsters. I guess it's because they showed something different that what most epiosdes did.

I didn't like The Idiot's Lantern title-wise... everything else made sense about the other titles in the series.... even L&M and Fear Her made sense... but Idiot's Lantern wasn't one of them. I have to remind myself that it's the one with the Wire in order to keep it straight with the rest of the series.
Fear Her was just too.... childish. Moving drawings??? Although at the end with the 'dad' monster becoming real, that part I can understand was scary, but why they sing to make it go away didn't seem to fit. And one of the other posters is right. The posessed Chloe Webber voice got on my nerves. confused Although kudos to the girl, she didn't break out laughing having to do all that and DT staring down at her too. I most likely would have. mrgreen
And Love and Monsters, I can understand not seeing much of the Doctor and Rose, as they were working on that huge two-parter with Impossible Planet/Satan Pit...the Absorbaloff also was just too... well, it seemed like a kid dreamed that up... and I was apparently right about that... neutral
Girl in the Fireplace was brilliant! I just got upset that he knowingly just basically deserted Rose and Mickey on the spaceship in order to save Reinette. Then again, she did seriously snog him.... xd

"The Idiot's Lantern" is an old nickname for television.
Yeah, David Tennant had some interesting thoughts on the whole Reinette thing on his video blog. But I still didn't like the episode that much.
But the drunken scene is still one of my favorites.

Something to the effect of how Madame de Pompadour was well-educated and talented, and if the Doctor ever would settle down, it would probably be with a woman like that.
