((Thanks, it's based on mine. My other RP is open now.))

Arani sweatdropped. "Oh, it's just the symbol for whoever's not supposed to survive this scene...." she said awkwardly. She coughed slightly and went back to sketching the diagram. She closed the binder then; she decided to right the actual words later. She put it away and replaced it with a second binder, the one full of her character templates. She opened up to a set that had been giving her particular trouble. She knew what she wanted, but the names were escaping her. She had possible names based on scrambled descriptive words written and crossed out on an entire page.

((Sweet, I'm SO there. I'm in a Johnny mood *wanders over*))

Alex grinned at Arani's theory on survival before looking up at the blonde who'd asked the same question as he had less than a minute beforehand.

Alex frowned as he tried to place the face before he remembered that the blue-eyed boy was one of the people central to the impromptu gathering that morning.

So he's some kind of sports person? Alex wondered, appraising Max. Doesn't look like much

He looked over at Arani's folder and the page of scribbled out... words. Alex blinked as he tried to figure out what they were. He knew several different languages - his father was adamant that he at least be able to greet anyone in the world in their own language and preferably do more than that - but he didn't recognise any of the words on Arani's page. He pointed at it. "Eh?"

~

Kai blinked and looked over at the girl he had sat next to in surprise. "Fine." He grunted, quickly moving his hand away from his face.

He'd chosen to sit next to the pale girl because she had looked like she wouldn't bother him.

So much for that theory.

[[Yay! I'm so joining. :D]]

"Ah..." Was all Max could utter, not sure if he was surprised or just a bit freaked out. No, he wasn't scared, he was a brave young lad; but it really was awkward, at least for someone like him with a fairly average sense of humor... He usually didn't find the survival thing funny, unless it was a cartoon or story he liked. And even then, he didn't always think they were funny.

Ah well, he got over it soon, an adorable smile spreading on his face soon after. He didn't seem to notice Alex's frown, or if he did, he didn't show it much; he was used to receiving odd looks, what with the whole being known scene.
Max, too, noticed the page scribbled out with several words. He tried to avoid confusion and at the same time figure out what they were there for.

{---}

Not again! May thought in disbelief, raising the pencil she had been writing with to her eye level. She couldn't believe the tip had broken yet again. And to think she had decided to start using them more often, instead of using one of her mechanical pencils.

Sighing, she placed the pencil back on the nearly completely filled pencil case, rummaging through several pigment liners and waterproof pens, other pencils and a rubber until she found her three mechanical pencils, and took out the second thickest one, of 1.0mm.
It was out of graphite, so she opened the small inside pocket of the pencil case, where she found a pencil-sharpener, an utility knife and the mechanical pencil refills. She took out a couple of the ones she wanted and placed them inside the mechanical pencil.

May looked at the other three once again, her notebook open on the first page (although a page marker indicated she had used at least half of it already), revealing said pictures and comments, and whatnot.
"Hmm, what are you three ranting on about, now?" She leaned over to catch sight of Arani's sheet again, smiling as she saw all the scribbled words. "Need help in anything?" She asked, even though she didn't have any idea why the words were written there, or even what some meant.

Rin bends towards her bag and pushes through a few things...she then pulls out a bottle of water and Ibuprofine. She opens the medicine and shakes two pills out. Then taking the water she sets them both in fron of Kai,"You look like your in pain, its not much but it'll help. You can keep the water..." Rin then turns away from him and starts to read the instructions on the white board.

The board read...

Take out text book and turn to page 26.
Read the following and answer the questions...
You will be called on randomly, be prepared.

"Great...why can't we read something that WILL help us out in life..." she muttered to no one in particular...

Arani pulled a sheet of looseleaf beside the already scribbled piece of paper and started writing down all the answers to the questions by looking over at Alex's open textbook. There were only seven, so it was done quickly. She didn't look at the paper or the book long, chosing instead to continue to glance at the non-crossed out words on the page.

"Names." she muttered to Alex so the teacher wouldn't call on her. "I'm scrambing words in their descriptions to try and come up with some. And failing. Again." as usual, Arani got progressively louder as she talked, out of habit. Those with younger siblings always have to talk over them.

"I've got a few.... But there's a lot of names to come up with." She shifted the papers to point out all the blank spaces on the last page of the binder.

Kai glanced at the tablets before looking away disdainfully. "You need to eat before you have them." He said quietly so the only one to hear him would be Rin.

He picked up the bottle of water and passed it back, his other hand flicking through the text book to find the page they were meant to be reading.

He smirked when he saw the page. He had read it when he had first received his text books before the year had started. The picture had interested him. Kai looked at the picture again and shook his head. It was a black and white photo of a baseball cap thrown on the floor- someone's attempt at being artistic.

Written on the page was a long-winded poem and underneath the poem were generic 'interpret this poem and what it means to society' questions.

Kai rolled his eyes and flipped open his book.

~

"Ever just tried a baby name book?" Alex asked, frowning at the words on the page. "Why do they have to be words that most people can't pronounce?"

Alex looked over at the board and sighed as he saw the questions. He didn't feel like starting that pesky school work thing again.

She snorted. "Ew, I hate generic names. Besides, I like the archaic names, fits the theme better. I mean, have you ever heard of a big, scary, mage-villian named... I dunno, Alex, or something? LAME!"

She scribbled another word down. "Got one! Haruhia. I like it." she shuffled through papers to find the right character bio. "It's just genderless enough to work for her...." she said, writing the name down under 'Alias.'

((Yes, this is me ACTUALLY trying to come up with names. Haruhia is one I came up with for a FFXII character.))

Rin turns back to Kai and smirks again," Well, I never do...but if you insist." She pulls and apple from her bag and puts that and the water back onto his desk. " It annoyes me when people don't accept what I give them to help them out....and I know I'm annoying you by trying...but if you just take it...I'll leave you alone and I'll feel better because you took it." She gives him a sympathetic smile,"I'm sorry for bugging you...Its just a...habit of mine...to want to help in any way I can. I normally carry this stuff for whoever needs it rather than for me..." Sensing Kai's annoyance, Rin quickly turns back to her book and reads the poem under the pictuer.

"Actually;" May started, ready to point something out as she took out the textbook, which she set in front of her with a loud 'thud'.
"I'm sure there's plenty of books that don't give out just the usual, most common names. I like doing research in my spare time and I've come up with a few books with some awkward names I had never seen in my life and even on line, there's a lot of stuff you can find. Then again, creativity owns research by a whole lot..." She continued, her voice neither loud or low. She was working on the interpretation questions about said poem and picture as she spoke.
The brunette loved art, it was something she disliked having lowered by someone who would prefer video games and call it the best thing in the world after pocky - Even if pocky was one of the best things in the world. So it was really no big deal for her to come up with her answers. It was fun.

{...}

Max opened his own textbook, carefully writing down the answers to each question, as to make them sound as correct as possible. He was blond, not dumb . Even if he ever seemed to just drift off to his own land of dreams, he was still a good student, or else he wouldn't be here this very same day.
He tried his best not to make any more sort of comment about this matter of the name attribution, because quite truthfully, they had said it all. They had different opinions. It wasn't really that bad.

[T_____T Awe, so sorry! I've been busy this week... Bah, I wrote this in a hurry because I was helping my mother make me a costume I need for Monday.]

"Coming up with my own names is better, still. I don't have to worry about other people doing the same thing, and it's better this way. Aquisitions editors are merceless about plaguarism in the fantasy genre....." she mumbled.

A meterstick hit her desk. "And might I ask what you are all talking about?" the professor inquired, moustache twitching.

She yawned calmly. "You might, but the answer would mean little after you take the time to notice that my work is done already."

Alex tried to resist the urge to hit his head on the desk. Tried, and succeeded for once. "If you'd take the time to notice not all of us are as good at doing everything as you." Alex said lowly so the teacher wouldn't hear him.

He looked apprehensively at his unopened book and tried to edge out of the group to look innocent.

~

Kai looked up as the new objects were placed on his desk. "I'm fine" He ground out, seriously trying to figure out what had possesed him to take this seat.

He looked over his shoulder at the group that was being harrassed by the teacher and smirked. He saw Max's blonde head bent over his work and avoiding the teachers wrath. Nice

Indeed, Max would have done the exact same thing as Alex, but he was between Arani and May and he was sure that, if the brunette were to try the same, it wouldn't work. Yes, because unless any of them were crazy or simply liked to have conversations with themselves, it was just too obvious they were part if it.
The blonde decided to keep his eyes on the book, occasionally tapping the pencil on the desk; even if they called him chicken afterwards, he really didn't want to get in trouble in the first day of school.

{---}

May nearly jumped when the teacher hit Arani's desk, her mechanical pencil falling over the paper and leaving a dark and ugly dot right in the middle of the sheet. Now that was just wonderful. In the sarcastic sense, that is.
She narrowed her eyes at the teacher, her neutral expression slowly changing to a somewhat upset one. She disliked being scolded, of course, part of the reason why a private school was never an option - teachers at her old schools had already suffered enough with her responses. And she had, too, with detentions and whatnot.
Not that she usually liked to point that out, nor did she like to mention it a lot. In fact, she liked it almost as much as speaking of her parents... Which was really on the bottom of her list.
"Not just yours, dear. Once I can erase this dot, courtesy of someone, mine will be officially done." She put some emphasis on the 'someone', apparently willing to be less polite if she had to... Thiugh hopefully things wouldn't reach that point so earlier this year. "I have to agree, though, that if you, sir, took the time to notice our work is done, then you might consider your former question... Though quite frankly, I don't think it's any of your business, what we were speaking of."

[Yes, May does do that... And that's her being very nice to someone she doesn't like. :] And yes, I've said those sorts of things at school at times.]

Rin saw Kai's disgust out of the corner of her eye."Sorry," she whispered,"I know I'm a pain..." Rin then looked back down at her book. He hates me, he hates me, I just wanted to help and he hates me...She sighed as she finished the annoying poem, dragged out some paper, and wrote the answers to the questions. I guess I'll leave him alone for now...I'll try to get some info about him later from his friend...

((I do it too. Loads))

Arani smirked. "As you can clearly see, the girl I was speaking with is also finished. Ergo, I do not see how this falls under 'reasonable request by a teacher.' Bye." she said.

The teacher returned to his desk, apparently to fetch a detention slip for Arani. She shrugged. "Not like this is a big surprise." she muttered.

[[ =| No wonder I got a complaint a couple of months ago. But my teachers don't actually give out detentions, so I don't have to worry much. Though the ones I actually talk like this to deserve it.]]

"Actually, I'm inclined to believe he's at a loss for words. I mean, that's actually what detentions are for nowadays." May stated in a normal tone of voice, like it was nothing out of this world.
"They're not actually used for behaviour misconducts, but rather to shut up a student who's stating his or her point. Or at least that's what it was like at my old school. Can't be much different now." She didn't bother looking around, knowing perfectly well that people were trying to concentrate on their own works... And even if some did stare at her, it would just be pointless and they'd be losing time from loads of classes until the end of the year.
She only gave the teacher a side-glance, to see if her 'comments' were being interpreted as something worthy of detention. Probably. Great way to start the year.

{---}

Max shook his head slightly, muttering "no" over and over under his breath. Of course he was no angel, at least not entirely, but he wasn't one to just comment like these two at the teacher and get himself in trouble.
So, he did what was best for his innocent soul and decided to just stay quiet like before. He should consider moving over next to Kai or Alex in future classes with them, unless he felt like being caught in the middle of this sort of events.
