Zera watched Asariel jump off, chasing after a butterfly and fliped the book shut, like the older dragon had shown her. She chirped at Asariel and sliped back into her hidey-hole to put her book away. Once she was out again, she joined Asariel as he chirped and chased the butterfly. It landed on a tree and Zera darted for it, but it flew away and she got her claw stuck in the tree. Hissing at the tree she turned to go find Asariel.

Asariel jumped, flapping his little wings ineffectively, and just barely missed the butterfly before crashing to the earth. Watching the butterfly mournfully, he swore that the stupid thing was laughing at him. No doubt, it was… it had even pulled a trick on Zera! Hissing at the hated insect, he sidled closer to Zera, but only to n** at her playfully before bounding a short distance away, just waiting for her to chase him right back. Being the high-energy creature he was, a lot of his favorite games involved chasing something or other.

But… then something happened, something that surprised the little blue hatchling all over again. A single raindrop fell on his nose, startling a high-pitched squeal from Asariel. Blinking, he blorted curiously at Zera, wondering if she was using that icy breath again.

Eyal let out a squawk of surprise as something tumbled into him. Something blue and warm. Alarmed, he twisted his head back to see what this violation of his personal space was. Another dragon, this one in varying shades of blue. He blinked, rolled over, and then sat up to clean himself as that hatchling and another ran off to play. Snorting, he observed the others out of the corner of his eye. It was all nice that they were here and everything, but why? Why just in this little area, with all the older dragons watching from outside? He wanted to go to the outside to! He wanted an adventure!

Gleeful at the prospect of a journey, he marched forwrad purposfully toward the edge of the hatching area. Chest puffed out and head held high he was the epitome of bravery and cool. Until he realized he wasn't moving. With shock, he looked up. Who dare stop him on his valient quest? The answer? One of the older dragons, a bemused smile on his face at the antics of the gold one. Shaking his head, he pushed Eyal back into the hatching area. "Not quite yet little one. In a while maybe, nut you aren't ready to go anywhere just yet." Eyal huffed, the indegnity! Well fine! Since he couldn't exactly argue with one 8 times his size, he settled for the other option. Complete indifference. He turned his head away, marching very dignified back to near where the others were. He hadn't wanted to go adveturing right now anyways! So there. That would show that older dragon!

Zera jumped up like a surprised cat! Some thing wet had DARED to touch her back. Something wet and...cold?? She sniffed looking at Asariel slyly, then jumped, letting out a blast of frost that went right ove Asariels head and hit the butterfly, which fell down from the sky at Asariels claws. How's that she teezed with her eyes before running off to find the other hatchlings.

Asariel had enough time to open his green eyes wide as he noticed Zera breathing in a very familiar way. Just as he ducked, he realized that the icy breath wasn’t aimed at him, but at something else. As the little butterfly floated down to his claws, the hatchling clucked in excitement and prepared to eat. It seemed like the thing to do, really. Sure, he was full from the venison, but… well, there wasn’t anything else to do with a frozen bug, now was there? Crunching contentedly on a wing, he saw the yellow-striped hatchling he had bowled into earlier. He really ought to go apologize… then again, Zera had run off; to Asariel, running meant one thing, that she wanted to play another game of chase.

Abandoning the dead butterfly, he galloped after Zera, wheezing and trying to flame; he hadn’t quite figured it out yet, but was managing to make some… well… smoke. Very pale smoke that was almost invisible unless you looked at it from the right direction.

Zera craned her neck to see what Asariel was doing. She saw he was close on her tail, pale smoke coming from his mouth. She gasped and reared backwards in fear tumbling backwards giggling the to the best abbilty of a dragon. She lay on her back then, just enjoying the feeling of the wet droplets on her scales.

She was practicing, if one could call it that. Azariah tried desperately to teleport using wha tlittle psychic strength she had. Her first hundred attempts fail. At least, she thought she had tried a hundred times. It felt like that. Her smokey white eyes looked around the empty forest clearing, it was at least good thing no one was watching her fail.

'C'mon c'mon! Let me do it right onc-!'

She disappeared from teh spot, reappearing in another location. 'I did it!' Azariah thought, stumbling through the bushes. She concentrated hard to try again, and she did just that. Except....she was in teh air.

'Uh-oh.'

For she could not fly, the hatchling fell through the air, sure that she would perish. Had it not been for Zera. Azariah fell upon her with a loud thud.

Zera had fallen asleep, in that spot were she had been lying. The rain had felt so very nice. Then out of noware a gaint...Thing!...fell upon her. Instinctovely, she let out a breath of frost on the dragon. She gasped in fear as she struggled away from what had falled on her. Zera looked ebarresedly at the thing. It had been an other dragon.

Asariel watched in horror as something materialized out of the sky and fell on his friend. Gasping desperately and trying to flame, he galloped towards his fallen friend and tackled the THING away from her, rolling around on the ground. It was actually far more harmless than one would think, as he had to roll away after a while, trying to get his energy back. He hadn’t flamed at all, but the effort of trying was tiring for the little hatchling. Eventually, he merely stood alongside Zera, whiffling concerned questions at her and hissing warnings at the other hatchling. How dare it fall in Zera!

… Slowly, it came into his little baby mind that dragons could not fly. Or, at least, he couldn’t. Neither could Zera, or any of the other hatchlings he had met. Although, Zera could breathe ice; he hadn’t met any others that could do that. Maybe… maybe this fell creature wasn’t a dragon at all! What could it be?! How dare it be here, in this land of dragons, appearing as a dragon and then not being one!

Zera snorted. Asariel was making a fuss over her. She did not need protection. She sniffed huffely flaring her nostrels for effect, and pretended to be upset. She stalked over to her hole, still pretending, and slipped in, seeking protection from the rain and settled down looking at her three treasures. Her book, Her Stone, Her Feathers.

The blue hatchling blorted in confusion as Zera stalked off, apparently annoyed with him. Annoyed with him?! Of course not! Why would she be annoyed with him for being concerned about her? That didn’t make any sense at all! She was probably annoyed at the hatchling-that-was-not-a-hatchling-that-fell-from-the-sky. Asariel hissed dramatically again, raising up on his hind legs in an attempt to threaten the swirled purple female. In fact, it wasn’t really that frightening… the fact was that there were dust bunnies that were more threatening than Asariel. Once he decided that she was thoroughly threatened---more likely, she was merely baffled by the blue hatchling--- Asariel stomped off, proud of himself for defending his friend. It wasn’t that he thought she needed protection. It was just that he felt he ought to, whether she needed it or not.

Now the rain was coming down a mite heavier, which surprised little Asariel. He chirped into the rainy sky, as if asking it to maybe let up on the water flow.

Zera wondered were Asariel was. The sky was spitting water even harder now, and it was annoying her. SHe attemted to freeze the water. She blew her frosty air at it in hopes it would stop. Suddenly, the spots she had blown on turned into soft fluffy white stuff. She left out into the water filled world and blew more frost breath into the air, creating lots of white stuff. It felt delightful on her scales. Other dragons were sheltering, trying to get away from her wonderous white fluff. They were complaning that it was cold. Cold? It Didn't feel cold to Zera. Zera ran to find Asariel to show him the white stuff. He wasn't hard to find, his blue scales stood out. She turned a cloud of water into white puffs above his head. Her eyes were sparkling with joy.

She sat up, giving a great shake of her head. Seh had fell on something, but what? Then something else tackled her, making her roll backwards. She gave a dragon's yelp, rolling off her back. "What did you do that for?!" she whimpered, backing away from the dragons. Had she dog ears, they would have been flattened in sadness. They rain pattered upon her violet scales. And it felt so nice. She liked the rain. What she didn't like was attacking babies.

"Why did you attack me?" she asked telepathicly.

Asariel hissed dramatically at Azariah, not feeling particularly inclined to be polite at the moment. It had fallen from the sky onto his friend!! It clearly must not be a dragon because dragons could not fly! Well, most of them couldn’t… he was prepared to admit that he had seen a few soar around, but they were biiig. Azariah was little. There was no way something that small could fly!

In answer to her question, a mental image of her popping out of nothing and falling onto Zera emerged; at his young age, Asariel hadn’t quite figured out how to speak yet, but the mental picture was good enough as an answer. At least, he thought it was. As the snow fell around his head, he ignored it, convinced that this was a dangerous creature that had to be stopped. Yapping excitedly, he tried to get the attention of the older dragons, who took one look and then… ignored it.

His yapping ceased and he tilted his head to one side. Adults were supposed to help out! This wasn’t helping!

Zera then saw the thing that had dare attack her get up. She hissed at it. It had already been confrimed in her mind that it was a hatchling like it her, but the nerve it had, falling into her! She blew a little snow in its face and stalked over to a tree, were she watched the other hatchling from afar. From her spot, she saw Asariel yapping. Why was he yapping? It was such a dreadful nosie.
