The pale stallion pulled away from the other at the movement but it didn't seem to be fast enough. So Safi had caught him but why did he have to go back? "Hu...huh?!" He pinned his ears back and tensed a bit stubbornly. "You are not getting me back there...not after that display!" He didn't clarify what display he was speaking of. It wasn't Safi's joke right now. It was how he had reacted to Safi's joke, that said absolutely nothing good about him self. "You could shove a spike down my throat and I wouldn't go back. Not till I'm certain they've forgotten."

Stubborn, stubborn, stubborn. Shaking his head, Safi stepped back from Xantir, his golden eyes narrowed slightly as he contemplated the best way to deal with this persistantly difficult stallion. He had thin skin, alright...but he also had a fever.

"Ok, I can understand the reluctance to be the butt of anyone's joke; and I myself don't have any spikes around, so you're safe there. But as I see it, you have two choices at the moment. One, you to back to the teepee and stay there like a good little sicky; or two, you put up with me sticking to you like a burr until you either agree to go back or you get better. So..." Here the stallion's expression brightened, and he gave Xantir what could only be described as a cheeky smile. "Which will it be?"

"Suit...your...self..." He humphed taking a seat on the ground. He wouldn't let him self be manipulated again, but what if this was what he wanted? Would he really think that far ahead though? Did he want him to be this confused? His short tail flicked in aggravation. There was absolutely no reason for him to think so much about one simple decision. If this was what his feathered butt wanted he could freeze too.

"I'm not going back no matter what you say..." As if to emphasize his point he dropped his head to the ground sending a small wave of snow into the air. It was cold where he was but it was all part of a point he was trying to make. He would not be made in to the fool.

"Alrighty then." So Xantir wanted to be difficult; well, Safi could be stubborn to, a fact he demonstrated by flopping down in the snow as well. He was used to it, after all, so this was no hardship. And this little adventure had already provided him with a great deal of amusement, so he was looking forward to seeing what else happened. Though Xantir would probably deck him if he knew Safi was still amused...

So he just didn't let on. "Well, if we're going to be hanging around together for longer, then I'd say we should get to know each other better, don't you, Xantir? Just to lighten the mood? So, I'll begin."

Grinning, he propped his head up on one hoof and winked at the other stallion. "As has already been established, my name is Safi; I have one brother, Kohana, Amoena being his daughter and my only neice; I also have a nephew, Kwahu. I live on my own, am a wanderer by nature, and utterly suck at taking things seriously. Your turn!"

He grumbled trying to shut out the wind's babbling. It wasn't working and it was becoming clear that this was exactly what he had wanted. He wasn't going to back down again how ever. This time he was determined and if that meant giving a bit of a history then so be it!

"I was born far from here...my mother was cruel and my father was almost worse. I have been trained since birth until the day I ran away. I have no siblings, children, or any living relatives that I know of..." As he spoke he watched Safi for some kind of discomfort. That would tell him what to dig into to get the other to leave him in peace.

If Xantir thought to upset Safi or scare him off with the story of his life, then he wasa bit mistaken in his ideals. After all, while Safi had had a pretty decent life himself, he knew from his herdmates that life wasn't a barrel of laughs for everyone. Consequently, he was able to keep a set expression while listening to Xantir's tragic story. It wasn't anything he hadn't heard before, after all.

So perhaps it was a case of turning the tables when he countered. "Sounds like you've had a rough life, Xantir; kinda makes me understand why you're so edgy. But at least you made a good choice in selecting a teepee; Luna's a good sort, and so is their two-legger."

He couldn't believe it. There was absolutely no reaction from the stallion, not even a sympathetic nod! He never once thought that such a person would exist. He coughed a little bit before lowering his hid into the frigid snow. "Lunathiel's friend does not know I'm there..." He said a bit reluctantly. He had wanted to make him self known on several occasions but he feared her reaction to his spikes.

He sighed looking at the ground. "Perhaps I'll find a way to remove these things once and for all..." He said gesturing to the spikes adorning his ankles. "Then she'll know..." In his mind he added that then he would belong as well. Until they were gone he would always be an outcast.

Talk about your change of moods. Now the other stallion seemed to be morose, which wasn't really much of a change from angry...yet it was infitely easier to deal with, at least in Safi's mind. But that didn't mean that he was taking this lightly.

As the other stallion had spoken, Safi had been listening quietly, head tilted to one side, until Xantir had gestured at his ankles. That drew Safi's attention there, and for the first time he noted the spikes. "My goodness, what are those things? And how did you get them?" They hardly seemed standard, after all!

"Spikes..."He responded simply before standing to give Safi a better view. He would never tell a girl what had happened but a stallion was okay. Males did not seem to feel as much sympathy, especially in this ones case. "They were driven into my legs and through my bones leaving me to either heal around them or die from the pain." Remembering the procedure made him angry though that anger would have nowhere to go.

If he went back that meant facing his mother. That was not something he was ready for physically or mentally. The spikes were a part of him as his heart was. No one from his old home would bother removing them or even trying. If anything they'd drive more in. "I suppose I could thank them...if it weren't for these I would be dying from starvation..."

Sounded like a nice family, alright; Or at the very least, one with a twisted view on personal ornamentation!

"I see. At first glance I thought that they were some weird growth, and upon second inspection some sort of weird body piercing." Safi flicked an ear as he spoke, so the the three silver studs that pierced his ear would be clearly visible to the other. "Though I have to say, havin spikes through your bones tops pretty much all else in terms of obnoxiousness."

Though not exactly demonstrative, Safi was feeling a great deal of compassion towards the other stallion. To have been treated so, by one's own family...the closest he himself had ever had to that sort of pain was squabbling with his brother, and even their estrangement had healed with time. Xantir's wounds...were of the more physical nature.

The blatant attempt to look at the problem stoically amused Safi, however, and he found himself smiling at Xantir. "Obviously things are never as bad as they seem at first glance, and that's something at least, eh Xantir? And no one's life is perfect."

Which he would certainly know.

A growth. A piercing? Was that what they really looked like? He had always thought they were completely obvious but perhaps not. "Obnoxious...? That seems like and understatement..." He grumbled laying back down. Standing was giving him a bit of a head rush and he wasn't really fond of that nauseous feeling. "Perfect doesn't exist...not in this world..." He was truly sure what gave him his outlook on the world but it seemed rather depressing now that he thought of it.

Thinking of his old life in itself was depressing. Perhaps it was time to change the subject. "So...do you think Lunathiel really has no idea about what happened?" Where that had come from he did not know but it worked. Of course if they really didn't know what would happen he could go back and get a good nights rest then maybe it would all be gone in the morning.

"Now that's a bit harsh; perfect does exist, but as it's only a state of mind I'd have to say that general application of 'perfect' as a qualifier is impractical, if not downright improbable."

Safe had never gotten up, so Xantir's up-and-downing was nothing if not amusing; though given the fact that Xantir hadn't been feeling well, constantly stadning and sitting was bound to do strange things to the mind if he wasn't careful. But at least he was reclining NOW.

"Luna woulnd't have noticed, trust me; and I'd say that both she and Amey would assume I'd done something ridiculous to piss you off, given that's what I'm known for." The wink that Safi gave the other stallion was more than a little conspiratorial, but Safi was totally honest. That was one benefit of having a reputation! "Seriously, I woulnd't worry."

Without another word Xantir stood and stumbled off to Lunathiel's teepee. He didn't want to listen to Safi anymore. The happiness just didn't help him. He was glad that he was happy but to have that joy would mean forgetting where he had come from. That was not something he wanted to do. His memories were everything to him and nothing would tear him away from them.

He poked his head into the teepee expecting to hear the mares laughing with each other but everything was silent. He stepped in and looked around curiously. It seemed as though the two had stepped out, why though? Shrugging he dipped his muzzle into a jug of water then lay down. "At least I'm alone now..."

Safi watched until Xantir disappeared into the teepee, then rose to his feeet. Obviously this had taken less time thatn he'd thought; his brownie points for the day/

Smiling to himself, the white stallion rose to his feet and glanced once more at the teepee, then started off up the hill. Maybe he'd go see how Kwahu was doing today...
