why can't they ever make a final boss where it is advised to be the absolute max level possible? and essentially have those hard out of the way items pretty much an essential to defeating the boss. now that would qualify as a boss!! but essentially yes ruby is the hardest.

Complete disagreement. I think the Guardian wall at the Temple of the Ancients was the hardest. He was the only boss I really struggled with. No clue why either. sweatdrop I think of it as a strange happening.

For me, it was probably ruby.
P.S. I never did fight Sephy boy with KOTR. I have it, but never bothered to beat him with it recently.

I would have to say Ruby, Sephiroth was a push over for me without KORT around level 68 or so. Emerald was pretty hard, but with Mimic and Knights at level 3 he was easy.

Asylum Renegade why can't they ever make a final boss where it is advised to be the absolute max level possible? and essentially have those hard out of the way items pretty much an essential to defeating the boss. now that would qualify as a boss!! but essentially yes ruby is the hardest. They don't make the final boss that hard because it would be alienating the more causal players. The make it just hard enough for the average player to play and have some challenge, but not unbeatable or mindrackingly difficult.
This is why square adds the optional bosses like the weapons, for the more hardcore players looking for the extra challenge.
As for who I thought was the most difficult, I know its not original, but I'd have to say Ruby Weapon.

For my first play-through, the hardest boss for me was the Materia Keeper...er, don't ask why, because I really don't know. After that maybe the Lost Number?
I found Sephiroth to be somewhat of a long fight (for a Level 50 team), but not so much difficult. Yes, Super Nova temporarily bamboozled the party, but nothing a Megalixir and a few Remedies can't fix. I thought he was harder than the Weapons though, to be honest....
But I won't say any of them are cake because aren't they supposed to be somewhat of a challenge? I mean, people here are saying they can easily beat Sephiroth/Weapons.....at level 70+. I think that if you went through the game without purposely level-grinding, you'd be at about....level 50-ish at the end? In my opinion, that's probably the level you're supposed to be at to get a challenge. Maybe.
