Sophie turned in her sleep, frowning. There was a knock at the door...her ears twitched, but she didn't want to get up. After that strange attack, she didn't even know if she could wake up...perhaps this was all a very realistic dream. However, a rather annoying sensation in her nose caused her to sneeze, and she stumbled to her feet, shaking her head to rid herself of the irritation.

Something plastic whacked her face softly, and she opened her eyes, looking around for any sort of obstruction that could hit her like that. Her gaze went first to the floor, but as she turned her head to scan behind her, she found she was thwapped again. Whatever was hitting her, it was attached to her ear.

"...the hell?" she grumbled to herself, reaching up and touching the new obstruction. She'd been tagged? Why would they tag her? The last thing she could remember was that she was on the beach, talking with the plant man...Leo or something like that...

It was only then that Sophie realized that someone had knocked, and she slowly walked towards the door, her senses still not entirely active, which made her all the more calm that she'd been tagged. "...'Ello?" she softly greeted, opening the door halfway with heavy eyelids shadowing an otherwise curious look. "Oh, hey, Topher...what brings you here?" she asked, rubbing one eye in a tired way. It still hadn't occured to her that months had supposedly gone by.

Topher looked a bit worried when Sophie answered the door, and his eyes automatically went to the tag, "Wha the hail happened. Well least your not changed more since I've been gone!" He remembered why he was there, "Look Sophie, I know I promised to turn ya back but the chip done got me and that's why I've been gone for four months!" He sighed and took off his hat to ruffle his hair, which was very messed up and tangled due to hat head, "I jus' came to tell ya that I tend to keep my promise still, even if they knock me out another year!"

"Ugh...I think they tagged me while I was passed out-waitwaitwait, four months?" Sophie blinked, her eyes wide and fully awake now. "What are you talking about? I saw you yesterday." She tilted his head, biting her lip, then looked back to her room: now that she noticed it, everything was dusty, out of order as if it hadn't been used in months. But was that even possible? Could they knock them both out for four whole months?

"Uhm...maybe you should come inside explain what's going on. I just woke up." She opened the door wider and motioned for the man to come in, revealing a room littered with strips of cloth and paper, the latter of the two scribbled on with ideas and crumpled. She navigated her way to the couch, then waited for Topher to follow and somehow enlighten her to the whole situation.

Topher nodded and stepped in, "Aint that aweful! You aint no livestock, no reason to go an tag ya cept to be pricks!" He obviously was more upset over this than Sophie. "Well, see I felt this funny feelin' that put me to sleep and when I woke up the alarm said it was August 29!" He shook his head, "My room which was brand new and clean was covered in dust and..." He sniffed himself, "I aint smelling too pretty either. Soon as I found out the date I felt down right aweful for letting ya down. I see ya have been asleep to?" Topher was obviously fooled by all of this, being as gullible as he was along with being transplanted in the midst of people turning into animal's land. His reality had been warped beyond what it was used to therefor anything was possible.

"Au-August 29th?"

Sophie's mouth went agape, and she took a rather awkward moment of silence to let everything sink in. That much time had passed? But...but that meant that she was going to change again! And who knew what all had happened in that period of time?! What if they had started producing for the Theatre without her? What if she couldn't join in because she'd be unconscious this whole time?

"That's not possible...I mean, can they really do that? There's no way: wouldn't we remember something of that time? Wouldn't there be something?" Sophie looked to Topher, the expression on her face full of despair. "How many people were out, other than us? How many of the others were put to sleep?"

Topher felt bad to be the bearer of bad news, "Well I jus' meant one. You and her are the only folks I know here, besides a couple of guards and that strange white hair feller that injected me." He frowned at that thought and made a mental note to punch that man's lights out once he was them. "But yeah I don' know no one else. I done saw some other hairy folk goin' around like crazy but thought best try to avoid them. They didn't look too pleased." Topher shook his head, "I'm rightfully sorry to break it to ya. As far as I know iffn' they can turn us into critters they can knock us out for four months." He stroke the back of his neck subconsciously at that thought.

"Okay...so it might've been everyone..." Sophie sighed in relief, putting a hand on her forehead. Curling up on her couch, she leaned back, then looked to Topher, shaking her head. "I still don't know how they could do that...we need to talk with some of the other people and see what's going on." She nodded: that sounded like a sensible plan to her.

"We can't call the labs, but I'm sure one of us knows what's really going on."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 7:21 pm

"Yeah, gotta be somebody out thar that knows." He shook his head in agreement. "I don't know anyone here cept you and that pig lady now though. I aint sure if I'll be of any help." He put his hands in his pockets nervously, not sure he was ready to meet any more animal people, it was still nerve wracking to him at this point in time.

"Hm...I think I can ask around," Sophie replied, trying to think of who she knew. There was Gaius, Marshall, Plantboy...but they weren't really in good with the labs. There had been that weird old man with the tentacles...Jordan! That was it! Jordan was in good with the Island, he would know why they'd been knocked out! A smile crept onto Sophie's face, and she patted Topher on the back

"Okay, I've got an idea. I think I know who I can ask, and the moment I know something, I can let you know." She paused, then thought of something more. "What's your duplex number so I can call you when I've gotten this figured out?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 7:33 pm

Topher nodded, glad she took the hint that he wasn't quite ready to meet any more animal people, "Fourty-one" He said nodding, "Keep me up. I sure do hate not knowin' what's been happenin' but at least I'm still... hum... oh sorry." He caught himself on that, but still Topher planned on staying human if ever possible. "Ale try and make the labs get you back in tha meantime and think up an escape plan. Gonna be a might harder with this chip thing I reckon." He gave her a worried smile as he headed toward the door.

"Good luck Sophie, Ale be seein' ya." And then Topher waved as he left back to his new home, alone in his cookie cutter duplex.

River RP

For Those of Us Easily Occupied...

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie had never gotten word about the April Fools incident, but after a certain amount of time she began to accept it along with every other strange thing on this Island: if she could be turned into some chihuahua thing, then she could certainly lose months of time. She only hoped that the tag they put into her ear, which she'd been too worried about to remove, didn't mean they'd done testing on her. It was a bother, really, but she didn't want to risk the wrath of the labs by taking it out if they'd intended it to be there. She wasn't going to be the one to start trouble.

So, seeing as how it was a rather beautiful day, Sophie decided to spend it outside, as she had no better way to spend her time. Donned in tattered shorts and a t-shirt tied to show her midrift, she quietly walked down beside the river, following it to where it would eventually meet either the sea or the mountains. By the way the current seemed to be flowing, she appeared to be heading upstream, and deeper into the woods, but at the moment she didn't seem to notice, lost in thought as she stared at the passing waters.

A soft noise woke her from her daydreams, and her ears perked up as her gaze jerked towards the trees, from where she'd heard the noise. In all actuality, it was probably some tropical woodland creature, enjoying the day as she was, but something set off the alarms of her instincts, reminding her of the stories she'd heard of the vicious she-wolf.

Suddenly, the idea of a stroll alone didn't sound all that appealing.

"...Hello? Anyone there?" Sophie stepped backwards, closer to the edges of the river. If anything else, she hoped that the she-wolf couldn't swim, and she could use the river to escape. "...Hello-oooo..."

Newton Filinas
Newt had hidden away in the swamp for a long while in an attempt to nurse his wounds. He eventually found the first aid kit Richard had been so kind to leave him, but he didn't know what he could do for the wounds in question. Adhesive bandages wouldn't stick to his slimy skin, and were not quite as large as they needed to be regardless. His chin and maw throbbed and burned. The bleeding had nearly stopped, but the scabbing was unreliable. With the kit in tow, he had therefore made a timid hop back down the river towards the village in hopes of finding someone to help him. Someone who wasn't Richard. He debated going to Dee, but guilt still made him hesitate. What if Richard was right? What if he hadn't HAD an excuse to run? He could claim instincts all he wanted, no one else knew the sort of things going through his mind.

When he heard something approaching through the jungle, he landed heavily, scooting to hide under a fern. He wasn't drunk now- he was horrifically sober and slightly hung over, and the false sense of bravery that came with the drunk was gone. He quivered, peering through the underbrush before a terrified "krrIIIT" suddenly escaped his throat.

Sophie C. Bell
The froglike sound made Sophie jump, nearly falling into the water, but she became somewhat more at ease that she had heard a ribbit as opposed to some sort of snarl. Feeling somewhat emboldened by adrenaline and a nagging sense of familiarity, the fox girl stepped forward, though still close enough so that she could jump into the river if needed.

Maybe it was just a frog...that would make sense, seeing as how she was next to a river. Frogs lived near rivers, after all. However, she also seemed to remember a certain frog from a few months ago, crying in the cafeteria...what was his name...

"...Newton, is that you?" Sophie had never learned the frog-man's shortened name in their last encounter, but had never thought him to have a nickname of sorts: she simply assumed that he went by his given name. "It's Sophie...Uh...we met a few months ago, I think. Is that Newt, or am I just talking to some random frog?" She laughed a little at her last statement: oh joy, now she was going insane.

Newton Filinas
At the sound of the voice that was definitely no snarl, the timid amphibian poked his bleeding snout from behind his fern, round knobbly eyes folding in on themselves in a froggy blink. "KrrrIIIT!" He started, findings his voice only after he caught sight of her, "I th-thought you were a .. ahh...!" From under his chin wrapped up across the side of his muzzle were three smooth slashes, still raw and painful looking. They were undoubtedly caused by claws by the look of them.

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie heard Newt's voice before she saw his face, and was rather surprised to see a completely frog looking stare in her direction. It seemed Newt had finished his changes...but what seemed to catch her eye the most at the moment were the three long scratches on his snout, at first causing her to think of the she-wolf, but then came thoughts to help him, and because the latter over-ruled, she came closer, a worried look on her fur-covered face.

"Hey there...what happened to you?" Her ears were perked, alert to the possibility that a predator could be nearby, but for now, her human half was focused on the frog. "Are you okay?" She bent down to get a better look, but stayed a good five feet away so the man wouldn't be startled. "Maybe you should go get that cleaned up, y'know?"

Newton Filinas
He slipped out, trembling as he twisted his head this way and that to make sure the coast was clear. With a hop, he landed beside the fox-girl, a plastic box gripped between his stubby webbed hands. "I... ah... KrrIIT" A squeak escaped his throat and he kept his head down in a guilty fashion. The box was the first aid kit Richard had left him. "B-bandages... d-don't... ah... s-stick..." He managed in a quiet, pained voice.

Newton Filinas
He pushed the box towards her thankfully, his enormous eyes twitching over her changed features, dim memories of what felt like ages ago coming back to him. Take away the fur of the face... her hair and the way she dressed... pointed ears, right? The voice... "I... ahh..." He frowned and gave a pained squeak when the movement pulled at his wounds, "D-d-don-don-don't... er... re-recall your n-name?"

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie opened the box, fumbling through it until she found what she was looking for: a roll of pale peach cloth, bundled up and held together by a little metal clasp meant for tying it down. She was about to jokingly make some comment about her victory when Newt asked her name, and she looked at him, her large eyes blinking before she smiled in an understanding fashion.

"My name's Sophie. Don't worry, it's been such a long time...your name's Newton, right?" She hadn't thought of the possibility that she'd remembered it wrong, but if there was a time to ask, it would have been then.

Newton Filinas
"I... I... I'm sup-sup-sup-surprised you... you rec-rec-recognize me..." He managed, wincing after an attempt to smile. His eyes twitched down to the cloth and he sat back, "Isn't... th-that for sp-sp-sprains?"

Sophie C. Bell
"It's easy to remember people when everyone's so...different," Sophie responded, looking from Newt to the bandage. "Uh...is it? I've used it for cuts before...not on my face, granted, but I think closing up the wound would be better than nothing." She looked back to his cuts, trying to figure out how she could best tie it down without closing his mouth. "I'm thinking the labs would have a better time fixing you up, but I don't know how much you'd want to do that." She gestured to her tagged ear to make a point.

Newton Filinas
The motion brought the wounded frog's attention up to what he had previously thought to be an earing. His throat jumped curiously as he lifted his head in an attempt to see better, blood dribbling down his belly in the process. "Ah... th-they... aaah... w-well... I ... I sup-suppose... w-we aren't... y-you know... human to them... I m-mean... krrIIT... we aren't really... human anyway b-but ah..."

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie frowned: she didn't like the idea that she wasn't human. She was still who she was on the inside, right? That's all that mattered, didn't it? However, her eye caught the blood dribbling down his chest, and she decided that now wasn't the best time to argue philosophies with an injured frog: there were better things she could be doing with her time.

"Well, either way, we need to get this bleeding stopped, so I'm going to try something," she said, her voice somewhat strained as her mind wandered back to the previous topic. Was she still the same person on the inside, if her personality was simply a mixture of chemicals and electricity? Had they really changed her? How could she compare? Her brows furrowed as she searched through the box again, pulling out little square pieces of gauze and sticking them to his cut, wiping the blood first. "I think I could use the bandage to tie down the gauze, and that could hold you over for a little while. Seriously, though, you might want to get in touch with a doctor. Are there any non-lab doctors on the Island? Someone who could help you?" Her ears twitched as she looked at the frog, keeping a slight pressure on the gauze. If nothing else, it would stop the bleeding.

Newton Filinas
"Wh-what... what about... an... an an-an-an-animal expert? " He glanced up in all seriousness, his mind going back to Dee once again. He had to finish his apology present first. But still, maybe she could help him? She'd been so kind to him otherwise... He had done very little in the way of taking care of her, though, hadn't he? The thought made him depressed. "W-well... m-maybe not..." He needed to get this sorted out before he saw her next. He winced a little at the pressure, but it seemed that what the fox-girl was managing had worked a lot better than what the frog had tried on himself.

Sophie C. Bell
"An animal expert would work, I guess, or they'd at least know how to care for this a little better than I would," Sophie responded, shrugging. Now came the tricky part. Holding the gauze with one hand, she picked up the bandage and slipped that on top, working with a small amount of difficulty to hold the gauze and maneuver herself around to his back, where she could tie it back. She smiled to herself: the gauze was barely long enough to work.

"Could you press down on that? I need both my hands free," Sophie asked, looking down at the small white square. She seemed oblivious to the fact that she was practically holding him: in her mind, as long as she didn't think it to be affectionate, then it wasn't.

Newton Filinas
When finding himself suddenly encircled with arms, the frog man stiffened. His bulbous eyes watered and his long bent legs trembled as though he were fighting against the urge to leap away. Ultimately he did follow her directions, pressing hard on the gauze to give himself something to concentrate on. "W-w-w-well..." It was difficult to talk with the tape pulling at his snout, "I... I... I d-don't know... I... I th-think... y-you seem to be d-doing a good job..." His voice dropped down to a timid murmur, "Sh-she pro-pro-probably hates me now, anyway."

Sophie C. Bell
"Hates you? What happened?"

Sophie made quick work of the bandage once both her hands were free, and tied it behind the back in a double-knotted bow that would be difficult to pull free without humanoid fingers. She'd stumbled once while tying, but that was merely part of the process of getting used to her own deformed hands, and once things were settled, she sat down indian-style opposite Newt, taking a good look at her craftsmanship. Granted, it probably wouldn't last for any longer than a day, if that, and the bow certainly wasn't masculine, but it would keep him from making the wound worse, and that was what she'd set out to do.

Filing the items from the first aid kit back into their organized box to give herself a purpose (she became fidgety otherwise), Sophie looked back to the frog, a look of curiosity on her face. "Why would someone hate you? You seem nice enough to me." With the small amount of encouragement came a smile, but nothing more: she wouldn't push the issue if he didn't want to retell.

Newton Filinas
"Sh-she's... sh-she's this... this girl. Wo-woo-woo-woman, I mean... ah..." Newt sniffed, fidgeting as he reached up to touch Sophie's handiwork, an embarrassed expression on his wounded froggy face. "I... " He shifted, not sure how to explain it, "I... I re-re-re-really like her, you know? B-but... but I... I acted really..." He remembered what Richard had shouted, and he gave the slowly fading dotted-line marks down his stomach and across his chest a tentative rub, "really s-s-sel-selfishly..." a lout croak escaped his throat and he shook his head, "I'm a... a cow-cow-cow-coward. R-r-richard was r-right."

Sophie C. Bell
Sophie's smile faded into a thoughtful frown, and she quietly listened, though her leg began to fidget from lack of anything to do. However, when he finished, she scootched herself closer, being mindful of her tail as she sat beside him. "Well, Richard's not the one you like, is he? Have you talked to the woman about it?" The fox girl tilted her head, the tag on her ear tinkling with the effort. "Maybe they don't see eye to eye, that's all."

Itchy Itchy itchy!! From the moment you wake up, itch itch itch! A welt on the back of your arm, and everywhere over your body. It's maddening, and nothing seems to help. That is, until your hair follicles burst forth with short, sandy fur. All over your body, the bristles and spreads, covering you with a short luxurious coat. Your whiskers bristle longer, and then, on both ends things start to really hurt. Your short muzzle pushes out a bit longer, but every milimeter is felt in spades, all the while it feels as if someone is yanking so hard on your ears as they stretch and grow even Larger.

That little wormy tail builds longer and stronger and fluffs into a big, floofy brush tail. Finally, the pain receeds, and finally fades, leaving you quite foxy >3
