"Oh, hello." There was a pause before he replied. He hadn't expect the man to approach him. As he responded he looked over his appearance, trying to place what he was becoming. He also looked familiar. "Bulletin? No. I was just walking by and was curious." He looked back over to the site. "What are you building?"

Gaius grinned broadly, more than happy to explain his grand plan. Slipping an arm behind Lucas, he guided--more like pushed--the dog-man back towards the site.

"Right now we're in the beginning stages of constructing our very own islander-only theater! Not labs built in any way!" he proclaimed proudly, neglecting to remember that the lumber and tools did come from them, but that was a minor detail to the featherbrain. "Right now we're still trying to find more hands to help with things..." Turning to face Lucas suddenly, he asked, "How are you with a saw?"

"Where d'y'tin'... yer goin'?" The octopus wasn't capable of yelling very loud anymore, but he sure did try even as he used his sore limbs to urge the chair over the rough ground of hte construction site to join the two halfies. "Y'aint... don' givin' me... th'tour!"

"Eh, uh?" He didn't put up any resistance as the pegasus pushed him along, but he looked at Gaius with a bewildered look. "A theater?" The idea struck him as being an odd thing to build.

"I've never used a saw before." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Um... I'm sorry, I've never been good with names. You are?"

Gaius dragged Lucas on towards Billy, flashing the octopus an apologetic smile before turning back to the man in his clutches. "Of course a theater! We need something to do here, something for the islanders to enjoy, rather than sitting around all the time!"

The guy's confession of amature-ness brought a small frown from Gaius, but it quickly cleared up with a shrug. "Don't worry, a saw's as easy to learn as anything, we'll get you going on some of the wood!" He let go of Lucas' arm to place a hand on one of the bars of Billy's wheelchair, extending the other towards Lucas. "And the name's Gaius, pleasure to meet you!"

"Remember... who's theater... it is, t'ank you!" Billy panted, dribbling a bit of water from his waterbottle into his mantle cavity and licked the edge of his beak, "Who's t'is, t'en?" He nodded towards Lucas.

He was startled for a split-second at the sight of the octopus-man as he became clearer in Lucas' vision. Every transformation he'd seen so far had been minor in some way. This was the first time he'd come across one of the "not-so-lucky" Islanders. It distracted him from whatever Gaius was saying until the he started to hear something about putting him to work.

"Going? On some wood?" He was about to hold up his hands and figure out a good way to back out of project before Gaius completely sucked him him when he introduced himself. "Gaius?" He blinked, and it clicked in his head. "We've met before." He didn't want to say he had been unable to recognize him outloud, unsure of how the man would take that. To save the man the effort of trying to identify him, he introduced himself. "It's Lucas."

"Ehe, yeah, Billy here came up with the idea first..." Gaius conceded with a sheepish grin and a nod.

He readied to drag Lucas along some more, not about to take 'no' for an answer if he resisted, when the guy paused, apparantly surprised. Gaius' ears perked up, eyes widening as Lucas re-introduced himself. "Lucas? You mean, the guy with glasses and the little dog? On the beach?" He rubbed a hand back over his wirey black hair, utterly stunned. "Geeze, I... I didn't even recognize you. I mean!" He winced. "Er, sorry. I think it's the fur... uh, all over. But... it's not bad, hey?" Pushing Billy one-handed, which proved ratch tricky with the bumpy ground, Gaius led Lucas over towards the tools. "At this point, any help will be a blessing! The more people we get, the faster this theater can get built! Besides, it's just me and Marshall working right now, and I think the poor guy's getting tired of digging." He chuckled, giving Lucas a hopeful glance.

"Y'act, Halfie? ....Sing? Do anytin'?" Billy crained his neck around to try to get a better look at the newcommer, violet eyes alight with enthusiasm, even if his voice was a choked breathy weaze.

"Hello," Lucas held up a hand in greeting to Billy.

"Yeah... I grew out of my glasses," he rubbed his small muzzle, "unfortunately my eyesight has remained the same." At the mention of Reuben he became a little depressed, but tried not to show it. "It's okay. I didn't recognize you either." He didn't dare complain about the heat under all that fur. Looking to Billy again, he really felt he had to place to complain.

With all the pushing and pulling, Lucas was starting to believe that escape might not be possible. It wouldn't be that bad? Just a little work? And he had been trying to get out of his room more. Even if construction wasn't someone he was familiar with, he could still use a job to get his mind off other things. "I...guess I can help out."

He looked back to Billy. It was difficult to make out the man's words with his heavy accent, but he got the gist. "Singing? Dunno. The most singing I've done is in the shower and everyone thinks they are good in there. I was in a high school play before."

"Ya got that right." Marshall chuckled as he walked over, his shovel resting on his shoulder. He hadn't been working long; maybe an hour or two, but he wasn't feeling really good for some odd reason. "Any one got any water or some thing?" he asked, before noticing the orange-furred man and the ornery looking octopus.

"...'Ello!" he said to both of them with a smile.

The little consent was all Gaius was waiting for. Before he knew what had happened, a large handsaw was dumped into Lucas' arms and he was getting pushed over to a pile of lumber and a pair of wooden horses holding a plank already. "Singing can come later! First, we gotta get this whole thing built!" Brushing his hands together, Gaius grinned, fully in his element.

"Now! This here is your measuring tape," he picked up the little hand-sized gadget and set it back down by one of the horses, "and this is your pencil," he pointed beside it. "All you need to do is saw these planks down to six foot lengths and stick them over with the rest. The extra wood can go over in the scrap pile near the rest of the lumber." He pat Lucas firmly on the back, clearly glad to have another 'helper'. "Don't worry, I'm sure you can manage just fine!"

Looking back over his shoulder at Billy, he called, "Need anything else, Billy? Anything you want to see?"

In a tentacle, Billy offered Marshall up one of his waterbottles, the cap already unsealed and the water inside had a distinct, lakeish smell. "Talented boys, ....eh? Ye lot'll..... get it done in ....no time, I'm sure!"
He glanced over to Gaius, twitching in an excited fashion, "Y'aint got anytin' else t'show me?"

Lucas managed out a quick "Hello" to the penguin before tools were dumped into his hands and he was pushed over to the pile of lumber. Gaius was a brave man to leave him with tools as sharp as this. At least it wasn't a powersaw.

"Er... yeah. I hope." He looked at the work ahead of him.

Hopefully sawing was as easy as Bob Vila always made it look. Tightening his ponytail, he picked up the measuring tape and got to work.

Giving Lucas one last pat on the back, Gaius turned to Billy, looking a little sheepish. "Not all that much, really... I mean, there's the blueprints over on the table, if you want to look them over... and you're welcome to stay around..." So long as he didn't get in the way, Gaius' tone seemed to imply.

Waving to Marshall, Gaius called, "Hey, mind helping Billy around with whatever else he needs here? I've gotta go grab some lunch from the caf real fast, okay?"

Not waiting for a response from the others, Gaius turned and trotted off quickly. He was caught up in his work mindset and things had to happen fast!
