Freize

I've decided- he must be unable to talk because he's a kangaroo. That's the only thing I can come up with... See, looking at the noises kangaroos make- well, there are absolutely no vocal noises. Wouldn't that affect his own vocal stuff? Exactly. They just make grunts, hissing noises, and... Clicking noises I think the page I researched at said. Two of which Eva does. Maybe if I try to stimululate him more in that area, he will make some kind of noise... Maybe that's all I need to start him off? By getting him to make just a little noise, just to get him to know how or something of that sort.

Yes, it's a plan. Now I'll just have to get it all arranged.

Ajani Day: Part 1

It wasn't unusual for Freize to be away from home. It was unusual for him to trust Ajani with any of his children- but... The one-winged angel seemed to have some sort of grasp on what the little joey liked to eat and do and stuff, so... The weremutt had no other choice. Eva would most probably get bored with anyone else, and end up getting himself into some trouble. Freize was trying to avoid any more trouble.. So, here the two were. Ajani was walking to the park, and Eva was riding up on his back and peering around, ears erect.

He didn't understand where his Da went, 'cause normally he was allowed to go along.. It was rare for them to be parted unless Eva wandered off. So he was a bit worried, but his excitement didn't let it last for long. A whole day with Ajani! This would be so much fun! His tail swayed behind him, fingers groping up towards the angel's halo. Hm, nope, he couldn't reach... But he was always wondering what that wierd cracked ringy-thing over Ajani's head was. Hum.. He would have asked if he could.

"Alright little guy.." Eva brightened as he was tossed a smile and set down, "You have a little while to go play on the junglegym.. I'll get us some ice cream." The joey frowned, ears drooping. What was ice cream? "... You'll like it, trust me. It's a surprise food, and it's really good. Now, you go and play, okay?" His frown molded into a grin- a surprise!? More good food!? He made his way towards the junglegym merrily, cheered by the thought of surprises and new foods.. Especially because Freize wasn't giving it to him. He was more of a picky eater just for Freize, because the weremutt had given him so many foods he didn't like that he thought most of the food the older male would give him would end up bad. And he hated bad foods. Yuck.

The angel, meanwhile, was over at a small ice cream stand on the side of one of the many paths within the park. He got himself some sort of triple scoop triple chocolate thing. He was a sucker for ice cream. He got Eva a single-scoop cherry. The kangaroo liked cherries- he'd probably like this. Anything fruity the boy seemed to adore. He waited awhile, watching as the quiet kid made friendly with a few of the other children- well, the best he could without talking. He smiled and shook his head. Freize raised some good kids... He wished he had parents like that guy.. He straightened up, calling the 'roo over. Eva was by his side in a second, reaching up.

Ajani handed him the ice cream, and the two walked down the path back towards the street. The angel had to pick up some stuff for Freize. Eva liked this ice cream thing! It was almost as good as pie. He trodded along behind the older male, watching all the people they passed curiously.. He felt a bit nervous. He didn't like being out without Freize or one of his friends. The pouch-joey inside of him was screaming at him to go find a small, warm place to curl up in. The thought caused him to slow down. It was only for a second, but a second was enough. By the time he looked forward again, Ajani was gone. His ears drooped and his lips pressed into a thin line. Oh boy.

The angel didn't even notice his absense until after stopping at the first shop, and as he turned to speak to the joey... There was only some wierd fat lady. He swallowed heavily. Oh no, not again. Freize would destroy him. He hurried out the door and back towards the sidewalk hurriedly..

Karoko and Eva PD: Version Zoo

Freize
After seeing the boy's reaction to the turtle that Eva's older friend had wanted to take home from the aquarium, Freize decided he really needed to take the little 'roo out to see some of the animals up close. The only animals he ever saw were the ones running around their household, and most of them were all but normal. It made it difficult to explain NORMAL animals... And books were okay, but Freize preffered giving him a visual.

So here the two were, at the zoo.

The two had just come in minutes before, and Eva was perched up on his Da's shoulder, licking happily at a cherry flavored ice cream treat he had been given. Thank Ajani for finding this one out. Freize had already completely devoured his own cone, so now the two were just heading for the directory... Which exhibit to go to first? Eva began to bounce slightly from a mix of sugar and excitement.

Noyama
"Karoko, happy time is now!" Noyama insisted, but her response was the same as before. Absolutely nothing. The Eden simply remained like a statue on the bench--unmoving, her eyes downcast. As she always did, she looked guilty. However, this time she felt it, too. Was she the reason Mommy hadn't come back yet?

"We're going over here!" One of Noyama's 'daughters' called from the distance, and before she could even answer they were out of hearing range. The fox demon sighed, her eyes focusing on the small toddler. If there was only something that would cheer her up! Little did she know that something would come in the form of a someone.

It was merely chance Karoko happened to glance up at that second, just in time to spot a certain guardian with a certain boy who she certainly recognized! She didn't know why, but seeing him here surprised her. "Eva?" Luckily, the area wasn't very crowded for the moment, so her tiny voice that would've normally been drowned out could still be heard.

Freize
What was that? The little squirt perked up, glancing about curiously at the sound of his name... Did he just hear something? His eyes finally came to fall on Karoko, and a smile instantly broke out on his face. The boy lifted his free hand, waving eagerly at the girl before trying to dismount his Da so as to go say hello to his friend.

Freize froze as he felt the boy trying to climb down single-handed, "Hey, what're you doing Eva?" The little guy didn't respond, he just hopped down the rest of the way, landing on his feet. He hurried to the bat-girl merrily, beaming all the way. Maybe they could have some fun at this zoo place thingy! Especially now that he had a friend. His ice cream was now forgotten.

He stopped infront of her, huffing a bit before waving again. His Da came along behind him at a slow pace- as long as the boy was in sight then he wasn't worried.

Noyama
"Didn't know you were here," Karoko said, blinking. Her silence in her earlier-er-months had made it come as quite a shock when she finally did speak and revealed herself quite an impressive talker when it came to things like sentence structure. Lockee had always yelled at her for speaking wrong, which probably contributed partialy. The other half was constantly thinking if she spoke correctly Noharu would come back sooner, and when she did, she'd be proud for once.

This was the first time in a long time she wasn't thinking of her guardian. Her interest was in her friend now, who apparently still wasn't talking. She wondered if he couldn't or didn't want to. Honestly, it didn't matter to her aside from sheer curiousity. Quiet people were better, anyway. "Not talking?"

Freize
The boy just smiled and offered a look that seemed to say "same here". While she grew better at talking, he had grown better at getting across messages through body language and expressions. He still wasn't talking, though... His tail began to sway behind him idly, the excitement and sugar mixing together inside of him. And now his friend, which meant promise of fun! Perfect. He kept calm though; he remembered how she had been scared of him at first. He didn't want to scare her.

He frowned a bit as she mentioned him not talking, ears drooping down now. He pressed his lips into a thin line and looked at her with a sort of embarassed expression, which meant to get across that he didn't know how. He still made no noise, and he still didn't talk... Although Eva really and truly wanted to learn.

Noyama
She'd expected as much. However, she didn't seem bothered by it. In fact, the girl shrugged then nodded, which could have easily come off as confusing had she not spoken as well. "It's okay," she assured him, her expression nervous as always but her tone convincing enough. "This is your Daddy?" Even asking she didn't so much as glance at Freize. He was a stranger--strangers were scarey. "Can he say your name?" Fuzzy Face just didn't seem right anymore.

"Noyama," Karoko said, motioning to the teenager by her. Said teenager had been temporarily stunned into silence. She'd had Karoko for quite a while, and she hadn't said so much in all that time put together! When she finally got over the shock, she nodded politely and smiled. "She's my aunt," Karoko explained.

Freize
The 'roo cheered as soon as he found she was alright with it, seeming a bit curious as to her nervousness, just not quite used to such skiddish people as of yet... But he didn't let it bother him- she sounded fine enough, and was talking to him, so everything must be okay! He nodded at the mention of his Da, head turning so that he could get a glance of the older male, waving him down. The weremutt picked up his pace.

Without a second thought the boy was sitting on his knees on the ground, flashing one of his little grins up at Noyama- his greeting. Strangers were funny, but not scary to him. He liked people, after all! Freize kneeled beside his joey, "Hey Eva, what's..." He looked towards the girl curiously- oh, an Eden.. "Oh, hello... A friend of Eva's?" He gave a soft smile. The little guy nodded merrily.

Noyama
"Eva," The Eden repeated carefully, as if she might mess up in saying the name and forever ruin it. Such a paranoid girl. Noyama was just glad she was talking, though, and stood in silence, observing but saying nothing. "That's a good name." You might have thought her one to lie, being so nervous and all, but Karoko said only what she meant and meant what she said.

"Eva is my frrriend," Karoko confirmed without hesitation, looking almost directly at Freize. For some reason she seemed determine to leave no doubt the two were on good terms with each other. Not surprisingly, her attention didn't stay on the guardian long. "Zoo is a good place," she said to Eva, glancing around. "There are bats here."

She didn't know what animal he was, but she wondered if they were here as well...

Freize
Eva seemed actually fairly pleased after she said his name, tail swishing back and forth along the ground behind him.. He noticed how he couldn't lift his up like Teagan's, and thought that was wierd, especially because their tails were so alike.. Oh well, back to Karoko. The boy nodded along once again as she said he was her friend, just happy to have a friend along with him at the zoo.

His ears perked slightly, brows raising. Bats..? Oh, weren't those the things Da had showed him in that mammal book? The ones with wings like Karoko? Since he was a kangaroo, Karoko must be a bat! He handed over his ice cream to Freize, focusing entirely on the other Eden for now, and once again he was nodding. The zoo was a good place. They should go look at the animals together! The little squirt offered his hand and took on a look that seemed to say "show me?" He wanted to see the bats! It seemed like she had already seen them.. Of course, she didn't have to take his hand. He wouldn't be hurt- it was more just habit by now. When going somewhere with a friend you should hold their hand or something.

Noyama
She was curious to know what animal he was. The easy solution would've been to ask his guardian, but what fun was that? Friends should learn things about their friends from their friends! Even if said friends couldn't speak yet...

"I'll show you," she offered, brushing off her dress before she reached out to take his hand. White was an annoying color to wear--it always got dirt and stuff on it! Remembering well where the bats had been, she dodged the people in the small crowd to reach their destination. She was sure both guardians would follow them closely.

The bats were located in a big, interesting building. Karoko forget what the real name was. It was dark inside, because all the animals liked to be awake at night--including bats. "See?" The tiny toddler questioned, stopping infront of a large exhibit and pointing up at the bats hanging upside down inside. "Bats."

Freize
The boy trudged along behind her, excited at the idea of seeing the animal that Karoko might be... Up close, anyways. Da said that sometimes they flew up and over their house at night during the summer or something, but he never could see any.. He would have to try again from a higher place.

The boy blinked as they entered the dark building- what kinda building was DARK on the inside? He decided it was neat, and smiled to himself as he continued following his friend.. He looked over the exhibit before up towhere she pointed- he and his Da had just arrived, so he hadn't gotten to see an animal exhibit as of yet. This was his first, and his first time at the zoo. Then he looked up, and oogled at the bats.. Woow... He tugged the girl's hand gently and then pointed up curiously to make sure that was what she was, his expression curious.

After any sort of answer he would smile brightly and then look back, not surprised to see Freize standing there, curious expression back. Were his animals here? "I dunno, Eva... Kangaroos are only at certain zoos.. I could check." He checked a map and the little 'roo brightened before looking back up at the bats.

Noyama
"Yes, bat," Karoko answered, pointing at them. "Like me." So Eva was a kanga...kanga...kanga-something. When she was older she was sure she'd be able to say the word correctly out loud as well as in her mind. Only certain zoos had them? There were bats all over! "Eva must be special," she commented cheerfully. "Not many of Eva."

And, really, bats were kind of scary. Always hiding in dark places and stuff--who would want to do that?!

Freize
Bat. Batbatbat. Eva had to remember that always and forever, or else one day he might forget and then Karoko might get upset because he did. He didn't want anyone upset with him.. The boy smiled at the girl's conclusion to the lack of kangaroos, almost a bit sheepish, ears coming to a full perk. Really? Was he special...? But Karoko was like the neat bats! She was special too, 'cause he hadn't seen anyone like her before. He would have said so if he could.

"Tree kangaroos live only in a certain place in the wild, so it's harder to get them..." Freize smiled slightly, "I think he's special, anyways." His finger moved over the map thoughtfully, searching the types of animals... "Look at that... They've got a tree kangaroo. Not the right type, but a tree kangaroo." He looked at the kids over the map.

Noyama
Tree, hm? Different from Eva, but almost the same. "Vampirrre bat," she explained, pointing at the cage behind them. The small containers of blood provided for them at the bottom only supported that theory. "Liv..ingstone," she continued, pointing to herself. She'd seen bats before, but the kind she supposedly was. Because they were 'endangered' and hard to catch.

"We should go see them." As if seeking approval, she eyed Noyama who nodded thoughtlessly, occupied glancing over one of the other nocturnal animals. This would be fun! Even if the kangaroo wasn't exactly like Eva.

Freize
The boy nodded slightly, listening carefully. So carefully it made Freize wish that Eva listened to him. The 'roo then smiled and nodded once more- Livingstonelivingstonelivingstone... Li-vi-ng-st-on-e. He had to remember. He looked to the vampire bats again, watching them curiously for a moment or so.

"Eva's a Goodfellow's." The guardian piped up before tucking away the map and giving a wary look to any people around them. "Alright... Let's go." He then turned and headed off and out of the building towards where the tree kangaroos were supposed to be.. He wondered why there were Matschie's tree kangaroos but not Goodfellow's... Strange, but he let it go.

The boy smiled cheerily to the girl and then began trotting after his caretaker, still holding onto her hand. This would be fun! He had never seen one'a what he was before!

Noyama
It was times like these Karoko remembered how slow she was. Especially taking into account she was such a coward, if she ever had to run for her life, she'd be in trouble. Maybe when she was older she would fly fast to make up for it, or so her cousin had suggested.

When they reached the proper place, Karoko at first looked surprised. Her eyes moved to the animal, to Eva, to the animal, to Eva again. They didn't look so much alike to her. But then, she didn't look much like a bat either aside from the ears and wings...

Freize
The runt was probably a hard specimen to keep up with- he's pretty quick on his feet, after all. He never let himself get too far ahead though, and would often stop or slow down so that she could catch up, smiling some. He was excited to see some tree 'roos, even though they weren't the same as him. They were supposed to be pretty close.

Eva stared up into the exhibit, ears fully perked. Wow... So that's what he was... He decided the coloring couldn't be right, 'cause he didn't have no colors that looked like that. They were much more brighter than his ears and his tail was kinda stripey. He then looked towards the girl cheerily, kind of proud for some reason to be showing her what he was.

Noyama
"Not as cute as Eva," Karoko determined with a nod. They were cute, though. But Eva had prettier colors than they did. She could tell they weren't the exact kind of kangaroo he was, but that was alright. They hadn't had the exact kind of bat she was either. Maybe some zoo somewhere had both?

She frowned thoughtfully when Noyama announced it was time to go and grabbed her hand. Karoko had never be one to argue, or even protest, but she still looked highly dissapointed. "Okay," she agreed flatly, waving with one hand to her friend. "I'll see you laterrrr, Eva."

Freize
The boy just grinned at that, ears wriggling about.. He was actually thinking something along the lines of how he hoped somewhere there was a zoo with both of their animals in it so that they could look at 'em at the same time... He was torn from his thoughts as Noyama spoke up, and he looked towards the two curiously before frowning.

The little guy drooped a bit, depressed by the idea of his friend leaving, but he managed a small smile and a wave. And then a nod. He hoped he got to see his friend again.. He climbed back up into Freize's arms.

Thoughts of the Kangaroo-Boy Wonder:

I've been going plenty places lately, Da's been taking me all over everywheres and I've been meeting lotsa lotsa fun friends. Alla them are real diff'rnt from me except Tea is kinda kinda the same but not quite. I like the zoo and the park and the awkwurium. There's lotsa lotsa fun stuff to do all the time!

Today I went outside all by myself like'a big boy to play but Da got angry angry and was all grrr so then I was sad but then he was happy again so everything was okay! I got a owchie on my knee, but its okie because Da's happy. He says I'm becoming more "aktive" or somethin', and I dunno what that means but I hope its good. I hope he isn't angry at me. He gived me a smilie bandaid.

Well anyways after I came inside I taked a nap on my shelf because thats my favoritest favoritest place to be ever in the world. Da wantsta teach me talking and reeding, which is what he does with those papers with alla them squigly-scrawlies. That don't look like no fun to me. He also wants to teach me "righting." What's righting? He says its learning how to make the squigly-scrawlies.

I don't wanna learn alla that reeding and righting and talking, I just wanna go out and play and climb and sleep on my shelf and stay with Da and see alla my friends. And I want lotsa lotsa apples an' pears an' pies.

Tiny Vessels

And for once, the entire house was silent. Dead silent. Completely quiet. And so, our hero set out to put an end to this dilemma. Eva hated it when it was all quiet and stuff. He liked it when there was loud music from Freize's office and Ajani's room (Ajani left his music on even when he wasn't home, too. Eva liked that, even though he liked Freize's music better,) the bickering and chatter of the other children, the sound of breaking objects, and the serenade of animal calls. Those were the sounds that usually filled this household.

Today? Nothing. Nothing at all.

Eva had come to notice this when he was curled up on his shelf, practicing hard at his reading and writing. Suddenly, a distraction. No noise. How was he supposed to work under these conditions? And he'd never be able to get a nap in, either. How terrible. He had to see what was the cause. He climbed on down from his shelf and headed on out to get his exploring done.

Ajani was gone at work, Hatori was working, Spiro was in his room, Freize was gone, Arafel was gone, Colette was here, Cougar was sleeping, Chale was sleeping most of the other children were here. They weren't up to the usual mischief either. They were just... Quiet. All of the animals were outside. Curious. And then our inquisitive little joey took notice of a room that had lights on when usually there weren't any. Nobody was in that room before- it was the one right next to Da and Arafel's. He wandered over to investigate.

The room was decorated up like a baby's room- just like Cougar, Chael, Akira's, Ayumi's... He didn't remember a baby in here. He popped two fingers into his mouth and began exploring. Freize and Arafel were in here, talking in hushed quiet quiet shhh shhh voices. Whispery. Eva didn't understand why. He headed over, tugging at Freize's shirt. The older male looked down at him, whispering, "Oh, Eva. What is it?" The boy regarded him quizzically, as if to ask why everything was quiet. He earned a smile.

Freize hoisted up Eva into his lap and pointed. Eva looked over, and blinked at what he saw. Two sleeping babies. "Those are your new brothers.. We have to be really quiet so we don't wake them up.." Freize pressed a finger to his lips as if to emphasize his point. "Shhh." Eva's ears twitched and then he smiled and nodded, pressing a finger to his own lips, "Shhh." He mimicked, startling Freize. It was a new sound for the boy. They went back to watching the two baby boys for awhile..

Of course, to Eva's relief, the quiet didn't last for long. These babies were basically newborns, and soon they were wailing. The house erupted in noise. Everything was back to normal. Eva went to go practice his reading and writing again.

Freize
Well, today we headed out to visit an old friend. They were opening a new shop... And well, let's just say I broke and decided to get Eva some new stuff. It was a two for one deal- I'd be helping a friend get started, and getting some new stuff for my joey. I thought some longer stuff might help keep him from getting all scraped up... He refused to get different shoes though.

I got him a new hat (Hat without logo)- it's a little big... But he seemed to like it. I cut earholes in it for him. I also got him some dog tags (Tags).... Because I swear, that kid is always getting lost. They're customly engraved and have his name and everything on it.

I got him a few of my friend's handmade (MEN'S) bracelets, too... (one Two Three Four Five Six)... Oh, and this one necklace thing... (Necklace)

For actual CLOTHES I got him a black, long-sleeved undershirt to go under his brown one and a pair of baggy black jeans... Maybe the jeans weren't such a good idea. He's already ripped wide gaping holes in the knees- ripped them when he was in the backyard climbing trees. I got him the same sandals, except bigger... His feet are really starting to grow now.

In other news, he's actually beginning to mellow out... During the day. He's just been laying around or napping during the day, but at night it's like he got shot with a bolt of energy or something. It makes it hard to sleep with him running around like a banshee... He always sneaks outside and climbs all over things. I'll have to keep my eye on him.

Freize
Well, Eva's finally grown bored with reading and writing, as I expected he would. He's basically given up on it, from what I've seen. It's alright, he already knows enough about the stuff.

He also went from taking naps during the day to sleeping almost the whole day- which means he's up all night. I did some research on his animal, and it turns out their nocturnal. I guess that might end up something where I pray the more human side of him dominates over that trait or things are gonna get pretty tricky... Oh well, when he's awake he seems to have a decent amount of energy.

Quest Time

A small letter from the Project is inside your mailbox today !

To Freize

Hey Freize,

Tyyne told me that Eva and Teagan appear to be very good friends. Based on experience I expect your little one to be able to grow into a child, when managing a special task. Seing that he's in for friendship and that a gymnastics tournament for Teagan is about, he should probably support his friend. Allow him to think off his own way to cheer for the friend and help him by probably creating a banner. You may of course help, but Eva should work on his own for most of the time.

Have a nice day,

~Lena

[ You have to work on this quest for at least one week time now and you should make at least four entries about it. ]

Gymnasteriks? Quest; part 1

The little 'roo's ears waggled about as he sat on the floor at his caretaker's side, peering up at him expectantly. He had been happily pretending to read for a short while- perhaps it became obvious to the weremutt that he wasn't really doing so after he held the book both sideways and upside-down. Freize peered down at his child from the corner of his eye, brows arching slightly. Eva smiled cheerily. "You bored?" The child nodded and stood, dropping the book carelessly to the floor, believing that he was now going to get some sort of activity to do with his father. To his dismay, the older male simply sat there. Went back to work, even. The runt frowned for a few seconds before scampering off.

Freize let it be for awhile before a feeling of dread rose up in him. Who knows what the child could be getting himself into? He set down his paperwork and settled back in his chair with a sigh. He delayed standing for only a few more miliseconds before plodding off to find the tree kangaroo.

Eva was in the kitchen, and had just discovered the drawer with the pots and pans. He'd seen food come from these! He pulled one out and investigated it, shocked to find it empty. What was going on here? He tossed it aside carelessly and went in for another. And so the process repeated itself until the cabinet was almost empty.

He decided on a new approach.

He clambered up onto the counter. Food also came on plates and stuff, right? He began searching the higher cabinets, tail swaying slightly from side to side.

This was when Freize entered. He spotted the mess on the floor, and then looked up to see his child examining a glass plate. Eva looked about ready to toss that when his guardian stepped forward, snatching it quickly, "Eva." He sighed. The boy sensed his disaproval and his ears lowered- he wasn't sure what was wrong, but for some reason Freize was upset...

A little while later they were back in the office, sitting in silence, Eva munching away at an apple. Freize now knew he'd better give that kid some sort of activity to do or he'd wander off and get himself into trouble again after that apple was gone... He sighed softly and pondered a moment or so... And then he remembered the letter. Eva's ears perked.

"You know, Teagan is having a gymnatics competition."

He got a curious look. Gym-nast-er-iks? What were those. Eva's brows arched. The weremutt seemed to understand.

"It's a... How do I explain it... It's a game... That Teagan's been playing, I guess. With the flips in the air and stuff."

Oh! Eva smiled cheerily and nodded. He liked those kinds of games! Teagan had showed him how... He wasn't too good at them, but he still liked 'em.

"Yeah, well he has a very important... Thing coming up, I guess you could say... Something he wants to win by doing those flippy things. He'll be up against other people, so.. Why don't you go make something for him? To help cheer him on? And then we could go and watch."

The roo's eyes lit up- he could help somehow! Then of course he would! He was scampering off less than a second later. Freize sighed and turned to his work, hoping that this activity would keep the little guy out of trouble.
