Communism is a nice theory. But what Marx did not take into account is human greed. He was an idealist, not a realist.

Jordyn says... Well, people that work hard for thier money have to give it up, only to have it given to people that probably stay at home, doing nothing, knowing they're gonna get money that someone else worked really hard for. How would you like it if you worked hard for hours doing hard labor, for 2 bucks a week, and then have to give it up and only get 50 cents of it? ...And that's what Jordyn said!

Communism is a good idea.
But if you aren't going to get a better house/car/w.e than the person who sits around and does nothing because they have a disability then why would you strive, try your absolute hardest when you achieve nothing besides knowing you did a good job.
Thanksgiving is probably a good example, when it was communal, and people had their farm and produced food for the good of the community, they starved, it wasn't until they all had their own individual farms that they succeed in producing any crops.

People like private property. People like actually being led by a single person. People like to reap what they sow.
Communism hinders or prevents these.

Blind Guardian the 2nd x Jordyn x Jordyn says... People don't like a lot of things. But they still happen. But the fact of the matter is that because people don't like them, it is going to affect the way they do things. Because in a communist community everyone gets the same amount of money no matter how hard they work, there is no incentive for them to work hard. If many people aren't working hard, then business and economy will suffer. Even if somehow it were possible to keep the people in power from going corrupt, it would still leave the people in a dangerous financial position.

Well. you all just explained Communism pretty well.
Communism is a good "idea" but will never work. Right now China is one example, before they started changing into a socialist economy. Their economy wasn't even doing as well and the people were suffering.
Anyway, communism got it's foot hold in the world after World War I. People were desperate and turned to other forms of government which gave the "best" look for their people but most of the time it didn't turn that way. After World War II more countries were turning to communism. America didn't want the communist government taking over. As a result, America was supporting countries that were in need, militarily and in the countries problems. Also, both countries where supporting 3rd world countries in civil and minor wars where we have never heard about. Also the Cold war was caused because of the communist party taking over most of Eastern Europe after World War II. Ths happened because Britian, Russia, America, France the super powers of the time had defeated Germany and Japan. Without and enemy both Russia and America became enemies.
Has anyone heard of the saying, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Guess who the enemy was at the in World war II, it was Germany and the enemy of Germany was Russia. Sorry if this went of topic
Now as we have learned.... for most of us. Both the Korean war and the Vietnam war were caused by a Communist party taking over another country and America stepping in with the UN of the time to oppose this. Also in Berlin, located North of Germany. The Berlin wall was erected by the Communist party of the time to stop the people on East Berlin to cross over to West Berline where it was under American control. This is one of the few reason why Communism looks evil.
If all the communist parties didn't do these actions. Would Communism look evil? In my opinion yes, Communism wouldn't look evil if the parties didn't do these actions.
Next post??

Communism is one of those things that's great in theory but very bad in practice. It's just far too much power in one person. If that person was someone like Buddha or something it would work. as we all know "power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely."
But in Enders Game [book by Orson Scott Card] Peter Wiggin unified the world along with the Hundred Worlds and that worked somehow, even when Peter used to be the freakish kid who tortured squirrels.
So maybe it can actually work but I don't think the right person would be power hungry enough to take over the world or be able to deal with politicians that they'd have to get through. Or the kind of person that could pull that much bullshit to get in that position.

I think that a world like that is a great idea and if all those people all agreed on it and wanted to do it, it would work out....for a while. But then you come across just say a doctor and a store clerk. A doctor has a harder job, has more debts to pay, and gets paid the same as the clerk. The people in those positions would become unhappy. It then wouldn't be equal. It's also in the nature of people to always want more. So it might be hard for some people to never get more in life and they must always remain stagnant. Also the next generation might completely disagree with the concept. Therefore, in theory it is good, but probably won't work out for long.

communism is a good system roughly. it just needs some fine tuning. perhaps, in a future, be it distant or close, we shall see the true potential of communism.
america did do a fine job making me think bad about it. whenever I hear or say the word ''communism'' I think of opression... darn how do they do it?
anyway, all we can do is hope for the future.

But the thing was he was evil to a point where he could toy with your mind as if you were a toy. And he probably was really hot.

There has never been a true communist country. All the countries you talk about are socialists, countries completely run by the government, as opposed to communism, countries completely run by the people. The government promises a communist country but to be able to make the transition all the belongings have to pass into possession of the government so things can be spread evenly amongst the people. Unfortunately the governments are corrupt and once they assume power of all the country they become socialists.

kisakisa [Xenocidic_Chaos] Hmmm, good replies. I guess, you guys are right. There's no use in believing in something that could never work with the human nature, Right? Not in this case there isn't. =D Pity though, it is a nice concept. yeah
