She gave a squeak, shooting off. Her small wings flapped through the air and she dove gracefully. "You'll have to catch me, stallion!" she called. Waggled teasingly. "You want me to pay, you'll have to hold me down!"
With that she shot off toward the waterfall, rolling through the air like a bird. That was the good thing about being small. It was easier to catch the wind!

"Damnit Selly, since when have you been so big on innuendo? Bad mare!" Safi might not have had the advantage of being little, but where Selene hadthe lack of size to catch the wind, Safi had the muscle to drive through the air and consequently things were perhaps a little more evenly matched than they might have been. Or at least, that would have been the case if he'd gotten off the ground sooner!
"And just so you know, it's cowardly to flee righteous persecution! Get back here so I can noogie you, damn it!" The direct approach probably wouldn't work in this case, but he could sure as hell try!

"Noogie?!" she called back. "I think not! And I've never been big on anything. I'm a flutter, remember?" she would have stuck out her tongue, but that would require losing enough ground for the stallion to catch up to her. She was already struggling to keep her ground against the winged monstrosity behind her. "Slow down, birdbrain, you aren't supposed to actually catch me!"

"Sure, be literal. See if I care!" Nevermind that he had been the one who actually brought her small stature up to begin with; was it his fault that she was unnaturally small? "And if I wasn't supposed to catch you, you should have planned this out better!" Grinning mischieviously, Safi flapped his wings even harder, stretching out his neck and snapping at Selene's tail as he came into reach. "This is called lack of foresight, you know!"
And who was a birdbrain, now? "I think you lost this round, Selly!"

"Oh really?" she called, and tucked her wings in, close to her body, and diving. When she was further out of his reach, wings snapped open, with a hard jolt that made her eyes widen in surprise. It was oddly windy this far down. And she had to fight the wind. It was like a counter-current stuck in the middle. She let herself drop again, no longer intending to play.
Her wing hurt, and she only wanted to land before she was forced to.

"Yes, really!" Laughing, Safi folded back his wings and dove after Selene, only to pull up short a he saw Selene's expression and midair jerk. That didn't look quite right. "Hey, are you ok? Did you pull something?"
Spreading his wings out as wide as he could, he used the feathered surfaces to catch the wind and hold himself aloft at Selene's level. One advantage of this sort of wing was that it was very sturdy, something Selene's flutter wings seemed to lack.

She nodded. "Caught a bad breeze." she murmured, and let herself drift down, expression almost pained. "Look who is the birdbrain now, eh? I can't even keep myself aloft! Silly wings."
After all.... her wings had little to no support, and were almost as flimsy as a spiderweb if seen in certain light. She was only lucky she'd never had an injury like this one before, she supposed.

Keeping a careful eye on Selene, Safi allowed himself to drift downwards as well; he's never sprained or injured a wing himself, but he'd heard that it could be quite unpleasant; and there was nothing that couldn't be made even more unpleasant by said wing giving way entirely and dropping you to the ground.
"Well, at least wings aren't a total necessity, right Selly? I imagine that it'll just need a little rest, maybe not be used to support anything for a bit; you might be tiny, but even you have to weigh something!" Smiling a bit, Safi touched down on the ground and folded back his wings, watching to make sure she landed as well without any further injury. So much for safe pursuit!

She smiled. "Right. Not a necessity. But I have to say, the waterfall is unfortunately out, unless I can remember the ground path." Luckily she made it within a few feet of the ground before her wing betrayed her and she tumbled out of the sky.

Luckily, Safi was watching for just that sort of thing to happen and was able to move fast enough to prevent Selene from smacking into the ground. "Whoa there, let's not try and become one with the ground today, ok Selly?" Dusting her off with one wing, he dipped his shoulder at her on the side of her good wing for support. "And interesting as the waterfall sounds, it's more important that we make sure you haven't done permanent damage to your wing."
Tilting his head to one side, he gave her a querying look. "So, I'm fine with walking a bit if you are."

She was caught by the stallion, and looked up at him gratefully. "Good idea, Safi." she grinned at him sheepishly. "I guess you caught me after all!" she managed a weak eyebrow wiggle. She leaned against him a bit heavily. Nothing wrong with her leg, she was just feeling particularly weak by association.
"Walking actually sounds wonderful. I won't even ask for a race!"

Grinning, Safi leaned over and gave Selene a nuzzle. "What can I say, just cause I suck at catching lead-ins doesn't mean I'm a total idiot. Besides, what kind of gentleman would I be if I let you splat? Granted, I'd be able to get amusement out of it, but I'd probably feel bad about it later. And who wants that?" Still, he was pleased to know that a potential disaster had been averted; that was a good way to marr any get together.
For the moment, he simply stood helpfully while Selene got her bearings. He wasn't exactly sure how he could manage walking while being leaned on, at least in this fashion, so for now he could wait for Selene to get her bearing. "I'm grateful; sad thing is, you could probably beat me even with an injured wing!"

She couldn't help it. Her small body shook with laughter. "My wing has nothing to do with my legs. It's an emotional wound I suffer from as of the moment." She smiled. Nuzzled him back, trying not to flush. Sweet, and studly. Geez, a catch in a million, and she had the depressing feeling he wouldn't welcome her interest. Which... she could live with that.
She finally pulled away, stading as tall as she could, one wing hanging at her side, the other same as ever. "Well..." she looked at it, but didn't try and move it. "I wonder how you fix it. Maybe one of the girls in my teepee can help? After all, that's what girls do, right?" Especially unicorns! It was a fact of nature!

Safi's grin widened at her comment, and as she nuzzled him he nodded his head sagely. "Well, you're not going to get me to argue you're not an emotional wound, that's for sure. As for your wing..." Leaning forward, he prodded gently at the limply hanging wing, then looked back at Selene, shrugging her shoulders. "You're asking me? If you have a unicorn handy, that seems like the best plan of action. Though I hope for your sake that said unicorn is less abusive than the unicorn I have to get help from!"
Chuckling, he found himself imagining the scenario if they had to get help from Elizabeth. No doubt she would feel it her duty to say something about responsibility and not acting ridiculous, to say nothing of the appropriate behavior in adults...yeah. Well, that was actually funny sometimes, come to think about it.
But no, even if Selene didn't have a unicorn friend of her own his teepee was too far away. Though come to think of it... "Just out of curiousity, how far is it to your teepee? Does your wing hurt, or should we just go straight?"

She thought, very seriously. "Well, Quistis you met. She prefers to play with her whip, but in a pinch, she'll patch me until Feryal gets there. Feryal is a wee bit better.... but she's a flighty girl."
She had to give him an evil eye though at his rather redundant question. Her wing flopped uselessly. "Oh, no, doesn't hurt at all. Never been better." she wrinkled her nose at him and scooted forward, moving with sure steps in the direction of her home. "Edge of the forest, near the river." she said simply. Though, the edge of the forest that trailed the river lasted for a bit, she was too tired to stress that much more.
