Abel put his hand out for them to smell, his eyes seemed to get softer as they watched them. After a bit he reached out to pet the closest one to him, and he glanced up at Kaori again. "Ah of course. . ."
His sentence trailed off as he thought about it, his eyes traveling back down to the three at their feet. His plae hands running down from their backs to about midspine then back again.

"The white one is Tipper, she's a little teddy bear, loves to be cuddled," Kaori said, nodding to the one that was licking at Abels arm. "The black one is Kodiak, he tends to think he is a lap dog, so I would keep an eye on him when he comes near you on the couch," here she nodded to the one that he was petting. "And the grey one here is Barkley," she knelt down to scratch behind his ears, and was promptly bowled over by both him and Sadie. The two of them walked around to either side of her and started licking her face.
Giggling, she pushed herself up and nudged the two away from here. "As you can see, he is quite friendly as well. Come on, lets head inside, so I can start making supper." Walking up the porch steps, all of the dogs except Tipper followed her.

Abels rare smile stayed as he nodded, watching the dogs. Theyre happiness without predjudice was intoxicating, even to Abel who never came out of his shell, especially to those he wasnt too familiar with. He laughed lightly as they mowed the young with over, but it didnt last.
As Kaori made her statement about going in to make supper, Abel seemed to shrink back into his shell. He nodded, and followed her along next to the dogs.

Young Human Girl slunk around a near corner. She was of medium heigth, her red hair brushed lightly at her jawline. Her eyes were that of an unnatural shade of amber, ablaze in the swiftly approaching dusk. She had been following them for some time, under strict orders of course. Being the daughter of the leader of the "new religion" she was trusted with such, and this new non-human, was no good and needed to be wiped out, along with his witch companion. Kolette dropped to her knees, veiling herself in the evening's shadows.
Abel barely noticed the scent, it had been there, and he had noticed. But he had passed it off as a neighbor or something, nothing to worry about.

Kaori glanced back at Abel as she opened the door, catching a strange expression on her face. At the same time, she felt a strange feeling pass over here. She shook it off though, and stepped to the side to allow Abel in. Her dogs, of course, rushed right inside, heading right for the kitchen. Shaking her head, she chuckled to herself, she looked back at Abel again.
"Would you like to eat first, or get used to your room? I know sometimes it can be dificult to new surroundings for me."

Abel took a step in, fidgeted a moment, but remained in the doorway, he glanced quizzically at her, noticing the little signs that she had gotten the feeling too. Abel shifted to a form where he had a pair of off-white, wolven ears which parted his silver hair, which seemed darker and a bit longer in this anthro form. He raised his head, in some attempt to get a little bit of an idea where the human was. He was getting the feeling that, Kaori's feeling wasnt that of a neighbor. "Miss Kaori, how many neighbors do you have nearby?"
Kolette moved a bit anxiously in her spot, trying to decide, what would be the smartest move to make next. She watched them, knowng her time before they went in was dwindling, but she could also get them when they left. But the less time it took, the better, and if it took her too long, her father, and the rest would begin to doubt her abilities. And there was no way she could risk that.
((i deffinately love the plot twist. =]] Can i get a description of around this house?))

Kaori was awed by Abel's anthro form and took a moment to realize that he was talking to her. WHen she realized what he had asked her, she smiled slightly, "I guess it depends on how close 'nearby' is. My nearest neighbor is about a mile away. Why?" Looking around, she felt that chill again. Looking back at Abel, her tone became more serrious, "You feel it too, don't you." It was more of a statment than a question. The young witch suddenly felt the need to get inside of the house.

Abel nodded slightly, his wolven ears swiveling, causing the hair surrounding them to move in their wake. He store down at her for a moment, his gray eyes, serious slits. It didnt really bother him as she was staring at him, the way it usually did, she understood him, and he felt it. He didnt realize it, but most of the time, his facial expression told a different tale than what he was feeling, but he was so use to hiding his emotions, it lessoned people's questions about his past. "A mile. . . ? hmmmm. . . Somethings not right. Kaori, go in the house."
Abel spun on the heel of his boot, nodding in response to her statement, and his own statement was more of an order, If this kindly stranger was willing to help him out, he found himself obligated to protect her. Althought it wasnt like it was against his will, he wated to do it. He rested his left hand gently on the hilt of the sword which rested on his right hip. His long thin fingers curling gently around it. He raised his head a bit, hoping to pinpoint her location.
In response Kolette almost jumped, this non-human, or as she had heard, 'half-demon'. Although she had managed to keep her composure, she was still shocked, and a little worried. She had been trained for this, but she hadnt had much experience with demons, or witches. Kolette desperately wanted to move, her legs were beginning to cramp up from crouching, and soon she had decided it was better to leave while she could, and recruit help, it would be much less risky that way as she was outnumbered.

Kaori hesitated a moment before nodding her head and turning again to go inside. She knew that Abel would be okay. The witch did not know how she knew this exactly, but she did. After ushuring her dogs inside, she paused at the door. "Be careful, Abel," she said with concern, she did not like the energy she felt coming from the forest. It felt human, but it was alsohostile. She could tell that for sure now that she had a moment to take it in.
"If you need me, just holler, okay?" With that the young woman let the screen close shut behind her. Kaori was not one to just sit and wait for something to appen though, and she went straight to the living room window to be able to see what was going on outside.

Abel froze for a moment, taking a sharp breath in, did he catch a hint of. . what was that? Concern, it couldnt be, and yet it was so unmistakeable. He nodded slowly, taking a step in the direction of the scent. "I will Kaori, I will. . . Alright you coward, show yourself!"
Kolette knew there was nothing else she could do as of now, but she had her way out. . .for now. She stood slowly, and smirked darkly, the evenings shadows cast darkly across her features. Her amber eyes ablaze like two far off embers of fire. She laughed sinsterly, but strangely became serious moments later as she responded. "You are not welcome here, half-breed" the last word was hissed as if it was something to be disgusted by, something ugly and dirty, and not to be tolerated. "I will give you one warning, and one warning only, get out, your kind is not welcome here."
Abel gasped as she stood, fighting women was not his style, but the way she talked about him, he could pretend. He snarled under his breath, she was only human, which would make her an easy target.

Kaori inhaled sharply and narrowed her eyes towards the woman through the window. She knew her by sight, and by voice. THe same woman was one of the ones that the chruch had turned against her and her kind. She was one of the ones that would blame her for her friends dissapearnce in a heartbeat. Clenching her teeth, the witches eyes seemed to take on a different colour. Standing up, the young witch motioned for her dogs to stay in the living room. No way was she going to let that woman get away with threataning her guest on her own land. Heading to the door, Kaori threw it open.
"I know you." She stated calmly, despite her appearance, "You are Kolette, are you not? Prized pet of that worthless priest!" The witch spit the words out like they were acid, her normally calm and accepting demenor gone. "Get off of my land. Abel may not be welcomed by the followers of that damned church, but he is pleanty welcome here. And since the sheriff grew up with me, and his parents were the ones that primarally raised me, I do not think he would take kindly of you being here, threatening someone that I have invited into my house." Her words were still calm, but they held, not a threat, but a promise of reprisal if the woman were to take anymore action.

Abel's appearance didnt alter, except for a slight step back in his surprise. He glanced to the door where Kaori stood, than back to Kolette for mere moments as he allowed Kaori to finish. It would have been overly rude to cut her off especially since she had so graciously welcomed him into her home. And when he did speak, his voice was low and calm, knowing it was his responsibility to protect her and her property if that is what she expected of him. Although Abel didnt seem altered in anyway, his eyes did show a strange hint of concern, and yet it was hard to read as much hiding as he did. "Kaori, I can handle her. I know the type, please, go back in the house, you'll be safe there."
Kolette scoffed, ah the worthless witch was back, in Kolette's eyes she had been nothing but trouble to the whole town, after her parents had died, and left the brat to be their responsibilty. "Worthless?! ha! well at least he speaks some sense. You, all of you, have caused nothing but trouble for us. You know, it's your fault they all disapeared, and even when they died, you can balme no one but yourself."
Kolette knew her last statement would cut the young woman deep and she laughed wickedly again. But even as she spoke of her father, it didnt bother her, she had been raised to be thick skinned against such statements so naive, they meant nothing. But she would at least correct her. and her threats didnt scare her, she wouldnt be phased so easily. "Well, what if I am Kolette? What would it matter, and besides, that priest would be my father. And the sheriff, he's slowly becoming a follower too, the whole town is backing us up."
Abel lost his patience, even if he did tend to hide his feelings, he was quick tempered and no matter how hard he tried he couldnt hide it. His right hand balled up into a tight fist, and he unsheathed the sword from his right hip with his other hand. "Kaori! Go in the house, NOW! I will no longer put up with this."

Kaori had balled her fists and her eyes had been slowly turning more red as she summoned her fire magic. She had ignored Abel at first because she belived Kolette would not be a problem for her. After her... comments, however, the witch knew that she was looseing her temper. The second time he told her to reurn to the house, Kaori snapped back to her more calm self and looked at him, tears of anger at the human in her eyes. Looking back at Kolette, Kaori shook her head slightly.
"No, Abel. You may be able to handle her on your own, I have no doubt of that. But I cannot let this humans comments go." The girls comments had hurt Kaori deeply. She spoke what Kaori secretly beleived herself, and had been telling herself for a while, though she tried to ignore it.
"And what of Cassie, Kolette? What if she is still alive? I am the only one that is going into the forest to try and find her. Everyone else is to frightened to venture very far. If you harm me, what will happen to her? It will be on your concious then if she dies." Kaori hoped that this would bring some kind of sense to the human girl. At least enough to realize what the witch said was true.

Abel turned his head slightly, gazing out the corners of his eyes at the young witch, noticing her balled fists. His head tilted a bit in wonder as her eyes changed to a firey red. He was a bit frustrated as she ignored him, but it didnt show. His gaze shifted back to Kolette for mere moments until he heard Kaori speak in defence to herself. Seeing her tears tore him apart, he felt like he was losing, he wanted to protect her. As she told him no, he felt even more frustrated. "Kaori please. . . "
Even though he had pleaded with her, he knew as he let his sentence trail off that his pleadings fell upon deaf ears. No matter how much he begged, it wouldnt work, the human had gone too far.
Kolette scoffed fakely, knowing how much she had cared for Cassie, but she wouldnt let them believe that weakness. Her glare turned hard and icy as she responded, but she didnt let anything else seep her secret, and even this was so cague, it was impossible to read. She raised her head, her shoulders stiffening in false confidence. "I care for know one! And if Cassie is dead, its her own damned fault!"

This statment hit Kaori like a slap to the face. "How can you say that, Kolette? I know you spare no love for me, but Cassie is your friend!..." the witch trailed off and turned her face away from both Kolette and Abel, she did not want Kolette to see her weakness and she did not want to trouble Abel. "You will forsake even your friends to do as your father bids you.... Get off of my land Kolette. I do not want to see you around my house again." Saying that, she bent to Abels pleas and turned to go back inside the house.
"I wonder what happened to the girl that I played with as a child..." she said just loud enough for the breeze to carry it to the humans ears.
