I have just finished Tutankhamen: Amenism, Atenism, and Egyptian Monotheism by Sir Ernest A. Wallis Budge. I found it to be a good read. Unlike most Egyptian history books I have been reading in the past year, it didn't boggle you down with details that don't amount to nothing and distract from the point. The essential facts are there. One might say that it was short, sweet, and to the point.
Next I am reading Pride of Carthage by David Anthony Durham. It is about Hannibal and the Punic Wars. This should be interesting. It was the selection voted on at an online B.O.T.M. reading group that I recently joined.

I've reached the halway point in Lauren Willig's The Secret History of the Pink Carnation. I believe this is part of a series, but I highly doubt that I will wish to read more of Willig's novels after this one. It does little to hold my attention. It seems like a vain attempt to write a Pimpernelesque novel by continuing the league of spies devoted to a flower-named leader. When the Baroness Orczy did it, it was cool. When a contemporary author tries to imitate that same formula, it's lame. The only thing it really has going for it are the romances, but even that is looking predictable as romances go. The prose style doesn't do much for me either.

I'm reading The Reliquary by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. It seems to be taking forever though because I, for some reason, have not felt like reading at all lately. I miss my books. sad

I agree with you completely, Floatey. It annoys me a lot to find out that I can only get ahold of one volume of something and not the rest of the series...Especially if it's, say, part two. (That's something I dislike about my library. Only parts of series. stressed )
Recently Finished: Winds of Change, by Mercedes Lackey; Locked Inside, by Nancy Werlin Currently Reading: Winds of Fury, by Mercedes Lackey Still On my 'to-read' list: The Looking Glass Wars, by Frank Beddor
Winds of Change was good, and Winds of Fury will likely be even better. ^ ^
Locked Inside was also pretty cool. I found it at the library the other day and kinda dropped what I was reading at the moment, started reading it, and finished it the next day. An easy read, but awesome all the same. Plus (no, this isn't a spoiler; it tells you this on the inside-cover!), it includes one of my favorite things to read about - kidnapping!
The Looking Glass Wars...yeah...I mean it, I'm going to read it after I finish Winds of Fury! I just wanted to finish the trilogy before starting something entirely different that'll take me awhile.

The major romance in Pink Carnation is becoming... how shall I say this? It begins to run along the lines of being a trashy romance novel. To think that it once held promise by being associated with the Scarlet Pimpernel. I'm slightly over half done so the misery is nearly over in another 142 pages. Thank Ra so I can rid myself of this book that has sat on my shelves for almost a year.

I finished reading Side Effects just this afternoon. It was a pretty good book that helped me understand what cancer patients have to go through. There wasn't much character development, but it was still an ok read. Now I'm starting on the newest Artemis Fowl book. Well, I shall see how that goes...

Yes, I picked up yet another book before finishing Winds of Fury. That's a bad habit of mine, which I attribute to my attention span. But, anyway, I think I actually own The Ransom of Mercy Carter, but I took it out from the library all the same, and I started reading it. 3nodding It's awesome.

Brimstone and Book of the Dead by Lincoln Dougles and Preston Child Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk
They are all really good and make me want to read more by the author.
This weekend I shall read(for school):
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte Also for school we are reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
I'm also getting 4 books on linguistics(which I love) this weekend. wheeee

At this rate, I'm never going to get to that book... sweatdrop
Anyway, I finished the book that's on my 'recently finished' list. It was great, and then I went and refound The Beaded Moccasins, which is a similar story. I seem to like stories like that, for some reason...

I finally finished The Reliquary! I had a long flight because I'm in the Philippines so I just read it on the plane. So now I'm reading Party Princess by Meg Cabot. It's the seventh, I think, in the Princess Diaries series.

I just finished a really interesting historical fiction called Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrel after much prompting (and threats) from my little brother. It was slow at times, but I enjoyed it.
