Incredibly confusing (I'm a freshman)

It was the same day as out uniform fitting and so I had to come two hours earlier. I didn't even know the way to the freakin' band room >< I got directions from the guidence counselor and there were a few other of my freshmen buddies who were also confused. Some random person came over to us and had a huge smile
"New marchers! Uniform fitting is in the back room. I'll show you."
So we all followed quietly and got our uniforms. There was still like another hour and a half once I got mine and so I sat in the band room and talked to a few people I already knew. Then, one of the mellophone players (my section) came up to me and was like.
"You're Alina right?" (me wondering how he knew my name already "I'm Ian. I'm in your section. I hope you have a lot of fun. We're the coolest section... but I hope you don't mind *pause* perverted jokes, nonsense, randomness, and *pause* guys in short shorts"
Me... "><"
So he left and I was sooo confused. I later met the rest of my section, became adopted (an older marcher adopts a freshmen) and they taught me stuff. No too bad... I think.
