"It's always good to find something or someone who can help you relax, especially on a very stressful day. I can relate," she noted he was persisting that she tell him if something was wrong. Perhaps he was very concerned about her well being. It made her smile and this time she couldn't help herself her light orbs traveled to his as he looked to her.
"Of course, I would." Truth be told if he was enjoying himself, she would endure it as well. But now since she made a promise she would tell him if something was wrong. Nothing like to betray someones trust on the first day. She hated liars, that was the only thing she seemed to not understand and couldn't bear.

Yes, if the expression on her face earlier and the comment about 'past occurances' were any indication, then Zaphire had no doubts that Cynara could relate, not that he was going to bring that up again. Granted, he didn't have a great deal of stress in his life, not of the sort that would provoke a nervous breakdown or anything...but the principle was there.
"Coldwater swimming is one of my few hobbies, you could say; and it's a very pelasant thing to have available after spending too much time in the desert." In his opinion, ANY time in the desert was too much, of course...but they weren't going to go into that now, either.
At any rate, the talking had helped speed the two Soquilis along; as they crested a small hill, the river came into sight. "And it looks like we're here!"

She nodded agreeingly, "I've only heard tales of the desert and I have no plans going anywhere near it. I'm afraid heat exaustion would be a great fault." she shrugged as she heard the waters flowing, gently. It wasn't a rapid river more like a very large stream that just glided along. Clear waters were always nice as well. She disliked dirty waters in fear of what lied beneath.
"And that we are." she smiled, looking to her. She needed to stop that...smiling. Its was going to get weird after awhile, so she should stop while she was ahead. She cursed herself, she felt stupid for some reason but made no note of it in her expression...or at least tried not to.

"My sentiments exactly, though I won't say that my desert experience wasn't without its moments." To put it mildly. But THAT was yet another thing he wouldn't be going into now.
As the two of them came up to the river, Zaphiro found himself chuckling yet again as she managed to state what was completely obvious. Ah well, it had become one of those awkward little conversation pauses and looking at it from that angle it made sense to fill it up. Consequently, he simply nodded his head in agreement. "Yes we are, and in decent time, too!"
Tossing back his curls, Zaphiro purposely strode forward, not even twitching as he waded out into the frigid water, completely covered up to his neck in no time and swimming out towards the middle where the water was deepest.

"Well, you've stated that we were here, twice and I have said it once. Shall I say it again?" she asked with a raised brow, grinning ear to ear. Her coat quivered just thinking about the water. The breeze was cold, she hadn't any idea of the water. A blanket would be very, very nice after this.
She watched him enter the water with ease, she looked as if she needed a little bit of coaxing. She looked into her reflexion in the water, if she didn't do it now she thought he would think of her as a baby or some of the sort for not going in. She doubted thats exactly what he would think but something of the sort. Her two front hooves dipped into the water and her teeth immediatly started chattering. Her eyes widended as it came to her knees, she didn't want to put her hind legs in though. She looked into the water and made a small jump splashing her belly and everything below her chest.

Once he reached the middle of the stream where the water ran deepest, Zaphiro rotated himself around so that he could watch Cynara's first attempts at handling the cold water. She seemed to be handling it well enough...particularly when she jumped into the water like that. He really wasn't expecting that, even though she didn't submerge, and was taken by surprise when the splash washed over his head.
"Whoa, you really don't like the idea of taking baby steps, do you? Well, just remember to get used to the water, and you'll be fine." Smiling encouragement at the mare, Zaphiro used his wings to send himself backwards slightly, then ducked underwater for a few moments; when he reappeared he flung his mane back so that it clung wetly to his neck instead of dangling in his face. "As you can see, I at least haven't withered away yet!"

She remained her composure to not yell, cursing the water's coldness as she would do with her other male friends. He seemed to much of a gentleman to curse at something he held on to so dear. "Baby steps, literally or metaphorically. Because metaphorically a baby would take the steps, literally I would be going inch by inch. And that would just be torture, to let every muscle get used to the water on its own."
She looked to him as he was completely submerged, she gasped he was going to catch something. She swore on it, she hadn't made plans to get her head wet if she could help it. She waded it until it was to her chest and she moved around so her muscles stayed warm, her teeth had almost stopped chattering.

As he floated about in the water, Zaphiro was feeling the tingling that indicated rapid blood flow in his limbs; how he adored that feeling! It reminded him that he was alive, and in a positive way.
However, just because he loved it didn't mean that everyone did. One glance at Cynara's somewhat forced expression as she waded deeper into the water and he was torn by the twin desires to laugh and to sigh. She was trying so hard, poor girl.
Shaking his head enough to loosen up his mane (which remained curly even when wet), the stallion swam in to where Cynara was standing, his back and chest above water as he hit sand. "You know, you don't have to swim just because I suggested it, Cynara; as it is, you look a bit chilled. Perhaps we should call it a day as far as swimming goes?" She really did look uncomfortable, after all, and he'd gotten a good dip. That was enough without anyone getting pneumonia.

She watched him move over to her, “Your warm!” she gasped with joking eyes as she huddled closer to his side as if he were a blanket. He felt like it, she laughed and it was still sarcastic and joking but it was fun. Though it was nice, the feeling of exchanging heat in a bitter cold environment. Her orbs looked to him, laced with innocence “I know, but you made it sound like fun, plus you love it so very much.” She looked up, she sensed something or someone watching the two. And when she laid eyes upon the perpetrator she gulped. “Hi Daddy.” She edged away from Zaphiro so they weren’t touching any longer and there was some actual space.
The stallion was an elder, as a matter of fact the first one. His coat was a deep black, darker than his daughters. He looked like night itself if it weren’t for the painted stripe upon his muzzle and snowy feet. His orbs were more profound than his daughter’s as well showing his age. But he didn’t mind, he had earned it. His hardened expression was none the less serious but suspicious. “Cynara.” He stated simply, she had said ‘daddy’ which indicated she had something to hide, she was trying to get Moki in trouble or she wanted something. He was betting she wasn’t trying to get her brother in trouble so he was betting on one of the other two. A father’s insight.

As Cynara snuggled against him, Zaphiro found himself laughing; she was so affectionate, this little mare, but not in an obnoxious fashion. Besides, he HAD indirectly gotten her into the situation, it made sense she'd try to get compensation from him. And heat he could apparently spare. "Perhaps so, but that hardly means that you-"
He broke off as he suddenly felt her tense, then moved away from him as thought he'd suddenly burst into flames. The 'hi Daddy' was all needed to hear before understanding...perhaps a little too well.
Following Cynara's gaze, the blue stallion's eyes traveled to what had to be the largest stallion he'd ever seen, kalonas included. Good god that was a large stallion...and suddenly he had a hunch why it was that Cynara could be nervous about him.
At least the stallion wasn't radiating hostility. Given what he'd been told, Zaphiro was shocked that the older male was doing no more than standing there eyeing them. Not that they'd done anything, or were planning on doing anything, but still!
Well, thank Heaven for small favors. "Good afternoon to you, sir. I take it from Cynara's greeting that you are Cyrus, then? A pleasure to meet you; your daughter has told me a little about the bond you have, and it's always a pleasant thing to meet caring parents."
As he spoke, Zaphiro trotted out of the water, sunlight and dampness making it shine like a thousand jewels as he gracefully shook it off. Might as well handle with problems before they cropped up, right?

Cynara followed Zaphiro out of the water and made her way to her father giving him a nuzzle to his cheek. Her emerald orbs followed Cyrus' he was still watching Zaphiro and she didn't even know what her father's intentions were at the moment. That put her mind in a spin, she didn't know what kind of reaction she would have to Zaphiro but he made a good first impression well, when he spoke perhaps not the cuddly parts.
"Daddy, this is Zaphiro. Zaphiro, father." she shrugged. She looked the most like her father with her black coat, green eyes and short mane. She realized how big Cyrus was to Zaphiro and that itself could be intimidating but she knew it was his eyes that could make anyone squeal for cover. She made her way in the middleish so she wasn't completely by her father nor completely by Zaphiro...sends wrong messages both ways.
Cyrus looked to his daughter smiling softly as she nuzzled him, she was trying something and he didn't know what yet. He didn't have any reason to be angered with the stallion, his daughter had the right to meet others. It was just the ones she chose like that last dead beat whome he made friends with oh so well. Sarcasm. He took a look at the stallion, impressive was all he could think of when he spoke of their relationship. "Caring, yes. But I think protective is a little more appropriate." she knew it and Cyrus knew it there was no hiding it and he wouldn't attempt to.
"Yes, I am Cyrus." he nodded his head slightly. He was old fashioned, he was replaying what he said in his mind starting to wonder what Zaphiro's intentions were. The way they were together could made him mistaken that they were lovers, but Cynara did not directly have his scent on her which was a good thing he would have gotten his panties in a bundle. The way she didn't scamper back to him told him that they were just friends but this stallion could be thinking other wise. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm hoping."

Even standing a few feet away, Zaphiro was amazed at how huge Cyrus was. If that was genetic, then one thing was certain; Cynara must take after her mother!
Still, Zaphiro refused to allow himself to be intimidated. If he got nervous or acted oddly, then unquestionably Cyrus would get the wrong message; not only for Zaphiro's own sake but also for that of Cynara's reputation he would not buckle.
Consequently, he merely gave Cyrus a pleasant smile, including Cynara as she introduced them. "I hope that it's a pleasure as well, or rather that it continues to be such, Cyrus...assuming that you have no problems with me calling you such." He'd known some stallions that could have issues wuth such familiarity from younger stallions, particularly relative strangers. "But your timing is quite fortuituous; we'd just come to the conclusion that your daughter is not the type to handle cold water swimming, which had left us with limited options as to what to do. Consequently, your appearance has been quite well-timed, wouldn't you agree?"
Hopefully that didn't sound untoward; in retrospect Zaphiro realized that a few phrases could be taken incorrectly...but Cyrus hopefully wasn't the type to jump to conclusions!

"Oh god." she whispered under her breath...she had obviously realized the few sentenses that could be taken in the wrong direction. And knowing her father he would take it that way. She was slightly laughing though, she had thought it was funny but she knew the two stallions wouldn't. She was actually enjoying the show, Zaphiro was lasting longer than any other male she had met that had met with her father...for none of them had wanted to. She was impressed and the look in her father's eyes showed the same.
"Cyrus is fine," he looked to him, "A friend of my family's is mine as well. But that goes both ways." he was speaking of enemies were his aswell except he knew how to take care of them. He shrugged the thought, "I would say well timed, indeed." he replied with a slight frown. What in the hells were they going to do?! If he caught him trying something with his daughter it would be his head. If he had the chance he would lock Cynara up in a jail cell but he couldn't. He didn't worry about Maeve to much. She wasn't the trouble maker and the one who found it so easily. Cyrus had made it a chance to make it an awkward silence, but that was his intentions he wanted to see how well this stallion could uphold a conversation.

"Cyrus it is, then." Having realized belatedly what it was that he had said, Zaphiro had simply decided to forge ahead. Whether or not what he said was going to be interpretted correctly was not his problem unless Cyrus MADE IT his problem, which at least for now didn't seem to be a worry. Brooding he could deal with. It was just ACTING on said brooding that could be problematic.
When Cyrus fell silent, Zaphiro wondered for a moment if he was thinking of something to say, then shrugged. No reason to create any more awkward silences; there'd been enough of those earlier.
"Before we go any further, I'd like to clarify any questions you might have regarding my relationship with your daughter. Cynara and I just met earlier this afternoon, and while we've struck up a decent friendship, let me be the fisr to assure you that that is all. Isn't that right, Cynara?" Tilting his head at the mare, he gave her an encouraging smile. She looked tense; obviously she hadn't planned on something like this happening either!

Cyrus nodded, and then tilted his head as Zaphiro went on about Cynara and his relationship and started to laugh. Which was odd for him, but he was laughing. "My lovely daughter you wouldn't mind if I took a short walk with your new friend would you?" he looked to her eyeing her. Trying to read what was behind those soft green orbs.
Cynara's eyes widened she was confusion, "Right...um...what?" she looked to the two of them. "I guess if Zaphiro doesn't mind." Honest to god she didn't know what was going on...and she wasn't sure if she wanted to find out but she wouldn't let Cyrus hurt Zaphiro though she doubted if it was anything of the sort.
