Undated Entry

The party was, much to my disbelief, a huge success for a few velvet owners. Not everyone came, but I don't know if I was really disappointed or not. We all had a grand time with dinner, and Erae played a small bit of DDR with Anastasia, while the rest of us mingled.

Erae, Anastasia, Acia, and Sidney went off to the pool to swim a bit, as did LP. I think they had fun, though LP felt a bit left out. I tried to make her comfortable, but she's so... distant.

[Kanth's handwriting ends, and a fine print begins, seeming like it was slowly written. It seemed that Erae had taken over the journal.]

November 31st, 2004 @ 10:00pm

The party was a blast. Not literally, but... yeah. Some of the owners came, but I didn't see very many there. Anastasia and I played a bit of DDR, and she got an okay score, but didn't really like the jumping around much.

After a bit, we then went swimming while the others ate, and I nearly drowned if it hadn't been for Anastasia. I kind of owe her one. She can manipulate water, while I manipulate shadows. I've been practicing, and I've gotten to the point where I can transfer stuff in shadow, though I don't know what my limit is.

After the swimming expedition, we called it a night and I took Anastasia upstairs to sleep in my room, where she took over my bed. I think it was still warm, and she liked that, though seemed uncomfortable. I couldn't figure out why.

I couldn't sleep myself, so I got up and wandered downstairs where I found Kanth speaking with Shard. The mage who was trying to track her, and I was trying to make him go away. He had a moogle velvet, and I sighed, knowing he was another chosen owner.

So sue me. I have an anti-hero personality. I can be moody if I want. Well, that's what Kanth calls it, anyway. I think I relate to Brick from the Powerpuff Girls. No, he's not a girl! He wears a red hat, and I wear a red hat. Backwards, of course. It's cool that way.

Well, it ended up that Kanth ended the party early, posting a note on the door saying that she 'apologized sincerely'. She found me (Or rather, I found her in the kitchen) and she asked me if I wanted to go with her.

Bounty Hunting.

I didn't know what that was. She explained it, and I thought about it, nodding. I could help fight, couldn't I? I was sure of it.

We left that night, and found ourselves at Gambino's mansion, where we met up with Moo and Acia. I was delighted to see her, and we began 'treasure hunting'. One of Kanth's favorite 'pasttimes'. Or whatever you call it.

LP soon came up and told us there were zombies downstairs. I didn't know what zombies were, but Kanth changed, becoming protective. She then told me to protect Acia and LP told me to protect Willow, a tiger velvet. Kanth then shifted (That's what she called it when she changed forms) to a wolf beast, and tugged Moo downstairs along with LP.

I cast a shadow over ourselves to protect us further, and asked Acia about Willow. She explained that she had seen the tiger velvet earlier in the shop, and thought the tiger was rather cute.

Soon enough, however, Acia panicked and went out of the protection, looking for Moo, saying that she couldn't feel her anymore. I could feel Kanth still, but I followed nonetheless, leaving Willow behind in the safety of the shadows.

I lost track of Acia sometime later, and then found her at the Velveteen shop, where we still found no sign of Kanth or Moo. I grudgingly asked Naraka for help finding her, and thought he looked a bit put out. So what if I was a bit skeptical of vampires? Kanth told me he was a vampire, and all those things about vampires in the movies we had watched some time ago, as well as the books I read led me to believe that they killed people just for the sport of it.

I didn't appreciate that.

Nonetheless, we found ourselves at a bus stop, travelling to Gambino's mansion again. I never remembered it being that far away, but I didn't think about that fact when I was returning to the toyshop to recruit help, not knowing that Naraka or Acia would be there.

I was glad to find Acia. Though she doesn't seem to be... taking it well.

Hopefully we'll find them soon.

[Smudged ink can be seen, as if the notebook had been hastily closed.]

December, 2004

We made it back, safe and sound. I found my journal upstairs, where no one touched it. I'm glad that no one touched it.

We saw Shard when Kanth and I got back, but I still don't trust him.

I miss Acia.

I'm so tired. I will write more later -- promise.

February 18th, 2005

Holy cow! A new year indeed, and I slept right through it!

Kanth explained to me (a while after Acia woke me up with her lightning bolts) that I had been hibernating all of this time.

I really remember nothing during that time except... sleeping! How strange. And I'm still tired.

Kanth also told me that Valentine's Day had crept up, and on Valentine's, I gave Acia a few mini-daffodils and mini-roses that I had planted and grown with Kanth's help before I 'hibernated'. Acia is so sweet, I love being around her.

It seemed Kanth had taken care of my flowers all this time; it seemed she had nothing better to do really, except for tend to her other pets, although... I was first.

She must have been lonely.

We plan to go out of the country soon, and she told me that I could easily be hidden in her carry on bag since they don't check it when you go through. She also explained about 'port passes', I think they were called?

Ah well, I shall have to write in this later.

Love, Erae

In which many things are discovered in travelling

"Why is it so hot?" Rune questioned after the third day of silence and observing things, laying across Kanth's lap. He was practically melting from the heat, and his red fur wasn't helping any. It was lucky, however, that he was able to come along, and passed off as a long eared, long tailed mutt-dog.

In a way, he was offended, but it wasn't much to think about. He was thankful for the hat, though, as it was sunny all the time (he didn't have to squint like Kanth to see stuff!) - and no rain, so it provided some shade, even if it wasn't much. Erae hid under Kanth's wide-brimmed hat, and wasn't allowed to come out since no one there had ever seen a skunk before. Thanks to staying up late at night, he was allowed to venture while the moon was out, when everyone else was asleep. Kanth most certainly did not want to cause an uproar, especially over an 'exotic species' like Erae. Ha! Exotic indeed!

"It's sunny here all the time," Kanth answered after a moment of silence, very grateful for Rune's soft voice. Yes, some would question a talking 'dog'. It was lucky she didn't bring Aisha - besides Aisha being big. And having wings.

"Even during the night?" Turning his blue eyes on Kanth, he tilted his head quizzically.

"No. But it's hot during the night." Erae peeked out from Kanth's sun-hat, blinking tiredly. Even the nights were hard for him, as well as Kanth.

In which Erae sees Acia, and meets other Jivvins

Outside of the Center, for once, Aisha ran through the meadow, testing out her wings. So far, they had given her enough trouble as it was, and what good was strength when your wings held you back whenever you tried to run?! A real Ctarl-Ctarl would never have this problem.

Heaving a sigh, Aisha sat, folding her wings. She was probably the only Uuthli not to fly, and it both aggrivated her and made her a bit dejected.

"Of course, a real Ctarl-Ctarl doesn't have wings," She muttered to herself, and stood up, aiming to try again.

She'd be damned if she'd ever give up.

Not too far away sat Kanth, whom was playing with Erae. Smiling at him and winking one red eye, she glanced up to see Aisha take a nosedive again, and wince.

"I hope she doesn't hurt herself..." Erae murmured softly, wincing as well.

"She won't. She's pretty strong." Cuddling Erae into a hug, the young ninja leaned back against the tree she was sitting under, merely enjoying the breeze.

Meanwhile, Jack was sprawled across a couch inside the center, laying on his back with his eyes fixed on the ceiling. He sighed and closed his eyes, laying an arm across them for good measure. He was home. Almost. He had only been home briefly since leaving the hospital and, as no one had been there, he had come to the center.

But he had walked too far, and now his ribs hurt. How lovely. Stupid hospital, not doing it's job. Jack was just sinking into another wave of self-pity when an overly cheerful voice snapped him back to reality, making him cringe.

"It's so, SO good to be home!" Acia announced, whirling into the room and spinning a quick arch through the air. "Weeks and weeks and now we're back! Isn't it wonderful, Jack?" The glider darted down to land on her 'brother's' chest, provoking a hiss of discomfort from Jack...but failing to notice. "But now I don't have anything to do. Hmm."

And another curse filled the air, making both listeners wince.

"Is she always like this?"

"No, I think she's gotten worse." Kanth gave a series of nods, then blinked, turning to the center. "There's people inside. How unusual. Before, I couldn't sense them."

"'M sure you'll find something," the pirate mumbled from under his arm. "You always do. Now get off. You hurt."

"I don't weigh enough to hurt," Acia replied cheerfully, but jumped down to the couch nonetheless. The glider yawned and curled up beside her 'brother', mimicing his pose and staring up at the ceiling, arm across her forehead. "I'm out of things to do. I'm tired of learning. I'm not allowed to play with my slingshot around males. I've been working on the plane nonstop since it broke... What do you do for fun?"

Standing up with Erae on her shoulder, she called out to Aisha and waved her over. "Let's go inside."

Aisha, giving a small huff, followed as she folded her wings. Walking to the door, Kanth opened it, and spotted Jack, and Aisha.

"Well, I suppose five makes a party, no?" She smiled.

Jack jumped slightly at the sound of the door opening, provoking a giggle from Acia. After only a quick glance to assure himself it wasn't one of the wild'uns, he reclosed his eyes and went back to 'hiding' under his arm. Acia would do enough talking for them both.

Yes, she certainly would. The glider glanced up when she heared the door opening, and immediately jumped to her feet, waving a greeting from where she stood on the couch. "Hallo Erae!! And Kanth, and...JivvinwhoIdon'tknow! It's good to see you again!"

"Aisha ClanClan," Sniffed Aisha, whom immediately went over to Jack and sniffed, eyeing him. "Who are you? And why are you moping?"

Erae scrambled from Kanth's head and over to Acia, and hugged her tightly. "I missed you terribly, Acia! And Kanth missed you too, I'm sure."

"It's a pleasure," The ninja girl murmured, giving a smile and waving at Acia and Jack. "Do you have anything to eat here? I haven't frequented my visits here enough to know that there's a kitchen..." She sighed, waving a hand.

"Jack," he replied automatically. After a short while, he lifted his arm slightly and raised a brow at her. "Just Jack. And why shouldn't I mope?"

Acia returned the hug and kept one arm looped around Erae when she finally pulled back, grinning up at him. "I've missed you too! It's been ages... It's so good to see you again, Erae. What've you been up to?" Pausing, the glider left off her conversation long enough to glance up at Kanth, gesturing towards the kitchen with her free hand. "The kitchen's that way, Kanth. Can't miss it. Help yourself!"

"Many thanks." And, just to be annoying, Kanth gave both Jack and Aisha a small noogie, then fled into the kitchen all ninjalike before being 'caught'.

"Because there's more things to life than to just mope." Aisha grinned, then let out a cry of 'Ack!' when being noogied. "Hey! Show some respect here!" She yelled, fuming just slightly.

"My birthday's coming up soon!" Erae murmured to Acia excitedly, sitting next to her, a big grin appearing on his face. "Is yours coming soon?"

Jack was really too surprised by the noogie to comment, and just watched in confusion as Kanth escaped to the other room. He finally turned his attention back to Aisha with a shrug, letting his arm fall to his side. "I just got out of the hospital, my fiancee and children aren't home, which is why I'm here, and my ribs hurt. Let me mope."

"A couple of months, I think," she replied with a grin, dropping down beside him. "But still, that's soon. Our birthdays are pretty close together, aren't they? What do you want for your birthday?"

Erae thought for a moment, before tilting his head, and providing a loud outburst. "I want... a GUNBLADE!!" He grinned with glee.

Aisha tilted her head, a quizzical look in her eyes. "You have kids?" Her nose scrunched up in disbelief. "I dunno, kids seem like a bunch of trouble for a Ctarl Ctarl."

"I!.....have no idea what that is." Acia blinked, raising an eyebrow curiously at her friend. "Nor do I know where to get one. Explain?"

Jack nodded absently and yawned, reclosing his eyes with a faint smile. "Mmhmm, twin boys, Dari and Zach. Bunch of trouble for anyone. But well worth it, I think. Well worth it..."

"If you say so," Aisha murmured, raising an ear and scratching it with her hind leg.

Erae bristled with a bit of excitement. "Paper... need paper." He looked around for some. "I can draw it for you, because it's hard to explain without a drawing."

In which Erae awakens

He had been out for a long time.

Shaking himself from his slumber, Erae stumbled to his legs and waved his hand in front of his face, trying to rid himself of his grogginess. Underneath of him seemed to be leaves, and as he became more used to his senses, he sent his shadow out somewhat, not even realizing that he had done it.

Erae blinked once, twice... thrice.

Curling his fingers, he withdrew his shadow, merely staring at it. When had he been able to do that? He tried again.

Nothing happened.

Rubbing his eyes, he shook his head and glanced up at the sky; it was nighttime. Looking at the trees, he began to wonder how long he had been 'asleep' for.

The wind blew, and he turned his head, feeling a slight chill upon his fur, but not really being affected by it. Knowing the way to the mansion, Erae started walking, making sure to step steadily and slowly, as he was still quite unawake from his long nap.

He would get there... it would just take a little time.

In which Kanth finds an old Velveteen (OMFG JOURNAL ENTRY?!)

Ceasing in his practicing mid-strike, Erae glanced up as the doorbell rang, sheathing his sword and walking over to open the door.

In front of him stood a robot about his size, holding a furry sop of a mess, holding it out for Erae to take.

"Uh..." Erae didn't know what to do.

"Who is it, Erae?" Kanth murmured, peering out from a random spot before focusing in on the visitors, then walking over. "May I help you?"

"Shard disappeared. You're the only one we know of to take care of Arden." The robot shifted, holding out the Velvet further. Kanth knelt down and took the moogle gently into her arms, wrapping him up in her sweatshirt, starting to dry him off.

"You don't know where he went?" The blue-haired female asked with concern, tilting her head at the small robot, whom gave a shrug.

"He hunted us, and it's not my place to find out. Not that I care to know, anyway."

"Tch, makes me wonder." Kanth stated in disapproval, checking over the moogle with gentle hands, her eyes full of concern. The robot smiled, knowing he'd chosen well.

"You're a robot?" Erae piped up, circling around the thing and reaching out to poke it. "How'd you get that way?"

"You'll have to forgive him, he's curious at heart. Might not wanna stay around too long in case he wants to make you an accessory of his DDR pad." Kanth smiled, meaning it as a joke.

"It's fine, I have to be getting along anyway... he's been learning to dance, and - would you stop poking me! Yes, I'm a robot, and I was made like this!"

Erae grinned, blushing slightly before he took a step back, now keeping his hands to himself.

"Well, thank you." Kanth murmured softly, giving a slight bow to the robot. "I appreciate you coming all this way."

"Polite," The robot murmured appreciatively. "I've heard different about you."

"Time changes all."

"So I've heard. Take care." Raising an arm, the robot turned around and walked off, leaving Kanth to click her fingers at Erae.

"Can you watch Arden while I prepare some tea?" She ushered the gawking Erae inside and closed the door, settling the now partially dry moogle into his arms while she walked briskly into the kitchen.

Erae peered at the thing curiously, his mouth quivering in ultimate curiosity. "His name is Arden?"

"Yeah, it is."

"... is he gonna be our brother?"

Setting the teapot on the stove, Kanth smiled, letting out a chuckle. "Yes... he is." There was a brief pause in the conversation.

"...Awesome!"
