Dolius: I rarely sleep through the night...
Armel was walking down a seemingly endless corridor filled with doors to either side of him. There was fog here too, mostly settling to the ground swishing and eddying about his ankles and feet. The silence in this corridor seemed to get swallowed up by the pounding in his heart and ears. Something was going to happen, he could feel it. At random he stopped and opened the door closest to him, and it did not budge. He moved to the next door and it opened however there was a limitless expanse of nothingness. Was it that these doors where not meant for him or maybe it prophesied something more ominous about his life to come.
Soon the doors started to have markings on them, and he attempted to open these doors with similar results, or the door would seemingly jump out of the boy's grasp. There were doors, doors, and more doors. Sometimes the doors would burst into flames after he passed them and in the flames he heard the distant clang of what he assumed was a hammer hitting metal.
...It was music to his ears, like an old familiar lullaby that he barely remembered. It awakened a desire in him. Then he stopped in front of a door that was glowing softly with the colors of flames much like his braids. It was enticing, and on the door was a strange black mark. It spoke to him, and enticed him. In place of the clang he then heard a whisper in his ears, "Open me, Arthmael. Please do not ignore me."
Armel stared raising a brow, "M'name is Armel, an' I wasn't ignoring any doors."
Silence answered him, and he just sighed shaking his head. This all made no sense, no sense at all. Just like another dream he had some time ago about some elven man named...
Arthmael.
The name was familiar even before those dreams but he couldn't quite place a finger on it. He had always been called 'Armel' for as long as he could remember. No time to think, time to act.
He reached and touched the knob of the door and it felt pleasantly warm to the touch and he pulled it open, and suddenly a light filled his vision and when he opened his eyes.
...He was awake.
Someone had come into his room and turned on the light!
"Uggh...Da? You in here," Armel asked softly into the silence as his eyes adjusted to the dazzling spots in his eyes, and all that answered him was a soft 'chirrr~' sound. "Wait, Toki?"
It didn't sound like Toki; it had a more masculine and slightly more bird like tone.
A shadow flitted over his gaze and then the shadow became a blur. The blur was white, black, and orange colored. That definitely wasn't Toki.
"What in the world," the ram-horned boy squeaked out in surprise and finally he saw what was before him. A bird like creature with quadruped legs with cloven hooves, and it was flying with its wings, well, mostly hovering and fluttering his wings at a medium pace.
The creature tilted its head and chirped at Armel.
"Where'd ye come from?" The boy asked after he had ample time to stare, and at the question the creature glanced behind it toward the foot of Armel's bed. There laid a Tome smaller than his own and yet strangely similar.
...This was getting strange.
"Got a name?" The creature only chirped at him again, "Err, I guess not." Armel quietly moved to the foot of the bed and gathered up the small Tome and getting up off of his bed heading toward his desk with the creature following him the entire time.
"Guess I coul' give ye a name," Armel ventured as he laid the small Tome on his desk, "Marron?"
The critter stuck out its tongue at that to show its displeasure at the name, and Armel chucked softly.
"Gonna guess yer a boy," and a cheerful chirp answered that as if to cheer him on for a correct answer, "indeed, well 'ow about Dolius?"
The bird positively trilled with approval.
"T's settled then, Dolius." Armel laughed and brushed off his hand, "Guess I should make you a place to sleep and sometime soon I should explain t'Da that ye exist..." The boy went to his wardrobe and got out a small mahogany box just the right size for Dolius.
The box was once a storage box for trinkets, but its hinges were long broken off of it. Armel got his Da to buy it, and the boy intended to use it for something. A 'nest' for Dolius seemed like a worthy enough cause.
Armel then set the box aside and began to continue searching his closet for scraps of clothing he was no longer using. Meanwhile, Dolius took the liberty of looking over his future bed.
Seeming to approve of the situation Dolius landed beside the box and waited while swishing his small tail excitedly. The boy was so nice to him! It was a great idea to come out when he decided to.
Finding a few shirts and things he no longer fit into Armel tore and shredded at them and them by hand having no other way to do so. The cloth was easy enough to tear that it gave him no real issue. Armel then arranged the cloth in the box and when he stepped back to look it over Dolius peered at the arrangement.
The cloth was arranged decently enough but not enough for Dolius' taste and so the creature began to move the cloth about in a more nest-like setting. After the creature was finished he seemed more pleased with the arrangement.
Armel looked on with amusement until Dolius looked at him with a faint glare as if to challenge the boy to tease him or to say something 'foolish'. The ram-horned boy, however, said nothing and just picked up the box and moved to his bed. Dolius looked relieved and then flew after Armel.
The boy placed the bed upon the topmost shelf of his bed headboard. Dolius then landed in the box spun around twice and settled into the box.
"Aye, that'll do well," Armel said approvingly as he moved to the light switch and turned off the light. The ram-horned boy stood there for a moment letting his eyes adjust to the dark before groping his way to the bed and curling up under the covers again.
There was a soft sound of small breathing.
Being 'born' must have worn the creature out. It made as much sense as anything else right now. Armel's eyes closed and he too drifted off to sleep. The rest of the night was apparently dream free...

Armel's Journal EntryEntry #3 - Dated: Nov. 10, 2005 Aye There;
Met someone interestin' t'day, at least I thought she was interestin'. Her guardian 'ad left 'er alone f'awhile, but me and Da kept 'er company til her guardian could come back for her. 'Er name is Onoway and she has no voice of her own with which to speak with, she 'as to borrow other's voices, I wonder what it is like t'live like that. She also 'ad green hair, and that is awesome all-in-all. Onoway seems to have a thing f'plants or something. Da an' I introduced her to ice cream, but I am not sure she liked it much...
'Er guardian constantly reminds 'er of the origins where she came from. I know I came from a book; Da didn't exactly bother very hard to keep it a secret from me. Though t'constantly be told that if ye misbehave ye'll be stuck back in a book seems ... harsh. Though Onoway seemed mild-mannered enough about it an' doesn't wish for us t'think badly of her Ma. I don't really, and I jus' hope it gets better for 'er. Maybe t'harsh attitude is to keep 'er distant for whate'er reason...? Seems silly t'me, but it isn't in m'place t'judge.
Onoway also asked if I met anyone evil amongst other Tales. I cannae honestly say I 'ave. I mean I met one that was much older than I an' he seemed only a bit rough 'round the edges, but not evil, though I didn't get t'know him for very long... I am sure there be someone that is ... not on the side o'light. We need both halves though, I think. Good cannae be with out evil, or so that is the way I believe. It is what I read in t'books given t'me.
Am I right? Am I wrong?
I dun' know anymore. I'm so tired, so I think I'll 'ave a nap.

Pales' Journal EntryEntry #3 - Dated: Nov. 10, 2005 Dear Journal;
We meet the most interesting people when Armel and I go out. Today Armel was pretty much drawn to a green haired girl sitting amongst some flowers; I hung back and let them talk on their own for a while. I think she was a Tale like Armel, but I didn't think to ask, it seemed rude. Armel seemed content at just having made a new friend on his own without my prompting. Come to think of it, the whole walk in the park idea was all his.
Anyhow...
You wouldn't think it of him, but Armel does have some ounces of social skills. I guess it is all the people we keep randomly meeting on the streets. Though I haven't seen him really dislike anyone yet, other than the doctor we went to some time back. He doesn't to like when other adults try to press their authority on him.
Anyways, after they talked a bit I guess Armel got the girl to come meet me. She seemed very sweet, her name is Onoway. An interesting name I think. She seemed quite timid or just shy in general. We kept her company and introduced her to ice cream. She then shortly after got called away, by a very loud person calling her name. I hope we didn't get her in to trouble. She just seemed so lonely sitting there...
Afterwards we didn't really do much other than window shopping. I was getting a feel for what Armel'd like for presents when the holidays arrive. It makes things easier for me when I know what to get someone.
Ah well, off to make dinner! x. Pales D'Arcy

Armel's Journal EntryEntry #4 - Dated: Nov. 12, 2005 Aye There;
I got t'meet a boy named Lance t'day! He is real cool lookin'! Lance is all dragon-like lookin' an' green as a leaf. Though, he didn't look as good as he could be lookin' I wonder if 'e was sick? Any'ow he wants t'be a Knight one day and hopefully I'll get t'be 'is personal blacksmith 'r somethin'!
Then I sorta met a man named Morian too, but not f'very long. Lance didn't seem t'like the man too much. I 'ave t'admit that Mr. Morian didn' exactly give m'warm fuzzies either. I just walked off a bit w'Lance so we could talk without disapproving looks from either o' our parents. Lance an' I seem t'see eye t'eye on a lot.
After a bit we stopped at a bench and 'ad a seat t'wait for Ms. Dee an' m'Da. We were s'posed t'be lookin' for a place t'eat, but we lost track of landmarks an' didn't want to lose track o'the stoppin' point our parents told us t'stop at...
We went t'a diner and we ate... That's all I'mma say abou' that.
Da says 'e got me an apprenticeship w'that Morian fella. I wonder 'ow that'll turn out. I feel a lil' nervous about that f'some reason...

Pales' Journal EntryEntry #4 - Dated: Nov. 12, 2005 Dear Journal;
I ... I hope Morian won't be as harsh to Armel as it seems he will be. Not that I worry about Morian breaking Armel. I think I worry about the opposite. Armel is or rather can be stubborn. He is more cooperative with me on most days than he is with other adults. He is even more cooperative with the older Tales from what I noticed. I don't really think it's the idea of how he ranks age as much as it is respect and how much he likes the people he is with?
I don't know how he works from minute to the next. I am pretty sure if he would ever read my journal he'd start behaving just the opposite of the way I wrote him to be...Just to prove me wrong. Heh.
Albion says I should go visit Tyr and tell him the truth. I don't want to. I'm scared. Albion won't take it as an excuse. Not that it is an excuse...For me it's a reason. What if Tyr ends up hating me and not wanting anything to do with me after? Even the idea of it ... Hurts.
Ahh, I should go read Armel a story and tuck him into bed...

RP Event - Pales, Armel, Tyr, and Serkanda
Description: Pales goes to Tyr's under Albion and Armel's pressuring and lecturing. Armel meets Serkanda (a pair of twins that are pretty much tied together at the moment) and has an interesting moment with Serkan especially. Pales tells Tyr the truth and things go pretty much downhill (or uphill, depending who you are in this situation) from there. Link: Thread!

..I hope she doesn't read this, ever

Pales' Journal EntryEntry #5 - Dated: Dec. 05, 2005 Dear Journal;
All that stress and angst for nothing ... Okay so it wasn't for nothing. I now seem to have someone else in my life to think about...It is kind of frightening but exciting as well.
I don't think one of Tyr's children will get along with Armel very well. There was already a ... situation between them. Which caused even more chaos than what was going on already, what with me explaining what I am to Tyr and why there seemed to be an odd mental-link occurring...

Aye There;
...I am worried about Nalira. She seemed a lil' odd. I dunno what to make o' it except that she is gone now. She had left some time ago, Da and I escorted her back home. Is it okay for me to be worried? I am sure she can take care of herself...
I am 'ave to admit I am completely baffled by the whole thing. It is almost like she was running from shadows though she made the threat seem real enough and I thought I heard some howls in the darkness.
I am glad Da' came and helped us out. I think he is just as confused as I am...

Adonis certainly gets Armel all amped up. Got a mess of soda to clean and stuff. Not looking forward to it...Glad Armel has managed to make a good friend or two. He seemed to have opened up so much during the last few months though there is still that seed within him that seems .. Sour. I wonder what life has in store for him...
