Will quirked his brow as the mare sped off, keeping a weathered eye on her bright, beautiful coat as he kicked himself into a steady gallop. It was a loping gallop, much less frantic than the race he had participated in earlier, but he still ate up the ground in between himself and Waneta until he was only a few lengths behind her.
"You'd better watch out!" Will warned jokingly as he kicked himself into a higher gear and was almost able to tag her rump with his muzzle. "I'm going to get you!"

-Her pace was steady, but not frantic or pressing as the race before, but she did indeed press herself as Will drew nearer and nearer, silently thanking the fact of her short tail, for if it were long he could have surely grabbed it with as close as he was behind.
But instead of a competitive taunt he recieved another amused whinney of a laugh.- "We'll see about that!"
-Her own advice, of keeping one's attention on running, had already been lost on her, and she almost stumbled, catching herself, though it slowed her enough that she was sure she'd be caught, possibly even plowed into from behind if Will's reflexes weren't quick enough. And still she only laughed, seeming wrapped up in the amusement and company of the day. She'd never had guessed that games of tag and other silly little foal like games could be better then 'kelpie hunting' and her other normally solitary games.-

Will sidestepped a little as Waneta tripped, his keen sense of sight and hearing allowing him to realize that he might run into her.
"Watch it..." he warned quietly under his breath. A thought popped up in his head, but he pushed it aside. No, no. Not yet.
Yes. Later.
He was becoming frusterated now, trying to multitask in the sense that he was chasing a mare and thinking wildly about something else. He had become distracted, and soon found himself with a hoof in a hole. He stumbled forward, his muzzle just barely touching Waneta's rump as he called out, "Taaa---OOHHHH!" He landed face-first in a small patch of weeds that offered no comfort.
He felt like an idiot. He got up, his cheeks burning from the embarrassment and the irritation from scraping them up against the ground. "Sorry..." he said quietly.

-She flinched as she was tagged, pulling herself to a stop, with a look of mild and playful dissapointment. But it wasn't long lasted as the stallion stumbled himself.
She was being more clumsy then usual as of late.. but it didn't seem to matter as much, or sting her ego as the stallion seemed as equally ungraceful. And she peered at him cautiously, about to ask if he was alright when he piped up his apology. He didn't seem to be particularly hurt and her relief came forth as she nudged at his shoulder to continue on, teasing softly with a grin.- "Sorry about tagging me? Don't you worry, I'll get you back."
-Tail swaying back and forth like a pup or a young philly, she pressed him on pleasantly.- "Off you go then, and new rule. We won't go faster then a trot, that way we're not sliding all over the place anymore."

Will felt a chill go down his spine as the mare nudged him. It wasn't a chill of fright, or even a chill of nervousness; it was a chill of excitement.
"Deal," he said, his casanova-like personality returning as he straightened himself and pretended that he didn't fall. "Off I go, then..." he said, trying to prolong the time it would take between him leaving and Waneta chasing him.
He trotted away, his mind racing with even more thoughts. Why were they popping up suddenly? They were... intoxicating, if you could call them that. Thoughts of what he hoped to have in the future. He had these many times, but all he saw was himself with many faceless and colorless children and an equally faceless mare by his side. Now, when he thought of it... Waneta stood there, her eyes gleaming, and little foals that looked exactly like her frolicked happily.
That was distracting him to the point of insanity.

-Giving him a moment to get a few lengths ahead of her, Waneta counted to five, before hopping into motion, taking only a few steps before she was fully trotting after him. It was a nice laxed pace, which made the game fun, as the ground that she made to catch up was rather slow in making.
And she watched him, becoming certain even from behind him, that his mind was not entirely on the game.
Streching her legs in a handful of strides that quite certainly cheated the 'trotting only' rule, she pulled herself close enough that she was only a length or two behind him and to his side, piping up curiously, adressing his obvious distraction.- "You didn't hit your head to hard on the ground back there did you?"
"Don't hurt yourself continuing to play with me if you're not up to it..." -She added with a softness quite uncharacteristic of the usually bosterous female. Why she cared so much whether or not he was hurt she wasn't really sure.-

Will shook the thoughts out of his mind as Waneta spoke to him. "Oh, sorry-- I think I might've jogged some unwanted images when I smacked my head on the ground... I think we should just go to the shore now..."
He stared blankly ahead, his mind still wandering. What was making him do this?! He looked to Waneta for answers, but found that when he was about to speak, he felt like someone had shoved his hoof down his throat. What was the matter with him?!

-She nodded softly, coming to pace at his side, another concerned look lacing her face momentarily.- "Right, might as well head straight there if we want to make it before the night falls."
-Already the scent of salt and the very faint sound of waves could be heard, the ocean was probably over the next hill or so. Though once they got there they'd be in the same situation as they'd been at the appletree, with that bizzare feeling of awkwardness.
Well hopefully not. Maybe something would be waiting for them at the ocean. The mare found it far easier to fill comfortable around the stallion when they were moving, playing. Then when she was left to simply think and brood.-

Will crested the top of the hill first, the salty sea air lifting his mane slightly and sending a sudden rush of a sensory-overload to him. His heart swelled at the sight of the sea, beautiful yet deadly, crashing against the shore, the whitecaps off in the distance tinged with red from the sunset. It was perfect. He knew what he had to do.
Will turned to see if Waneta was coming. Oh, how he hoped that she hadn't disappeared while he wasn't looking... he would absolutely hate himself if she had done that.
"You coming?" he asked, his moustache twitching slightly. He was nervous, he had to agree. But this was the only way to get rid of the thoughts that made him so... in love.

-Only having fallen a few lengths behind him, she instinctually picked up the pace as his request broke the silence, nickering mildly.- "Of course."
-Pausing at the tip of the hill, she took in the strong smell of salt, shaking her head mildly to feel the soft gust from the sea ruffle through her short mane. Glancing out to the sun that hung just barely over the expanse of water, she watched the waves for a long moment. And then suddenly she reared up, and sprang forward once more, grey eyes trained back on the stallion, as if subconciously knowing she'd stop if he had protested.- "Let's get a closer look Will. I want to feel the sand and water beneath my hooves."

Will nodded slowly, his heart thumping wildly in his throat. He caught a glimpse of her gray eyes, the stereotypical line of 'pools I could get drown in' immediately coming to mind.
"Um, Waneta?" he started before he could stop himself, realizing his voice was slightly shakier than usual. He took a deep breath in and out, trying to relax himself. "I have a question for you... and I want you to answer truthfully..." His forelock had blown into his eyes, and he flicked it back without thought. He wanted the mare to see into his brown eyes; see the love flickering behind the bold surface.

"Hmmm..?" -Her steps indeed stalled with his words and distraction, however it was the shake in his voice that turned her around, eyes searching him curiously. Like a mother checking her babe for any new scrap or bruise he might have obtained.
What was wrong now? A look resembling concern laced her face. And the words that came out were a little more bold and assertive then they should have been. But then, that was always her nature, and she fell back into her tomboyish bruteness when she got nervous.- "There is no reason for me to lie. What is it then?"

Will laid is ears back, as a sign of respect. He wasn't really sure of how it looked however; he straightened up taller and stared directly into her eyes at the same time.
"Waneta... you've been nothing but help to me since I first met you." He lifted up his hoof and showed her where it still stung. "I-I... I love you," he finally coughed out. It felt so good to get it off of his chest, he laughed a little with relief.
This next statement nearly caused his heart to burst. "I want you to be my girl." He smiled, his casanova-like self being drawn away from the surface at this moment of intimacy. Why did he have to be so awkward? He was scolding himself inside as he waited for Waneta's reply.

-What she was expecting she wasn't sure, in fact it probably could have been read from the blankly confused look on her face. However this was something entirely different from what she could have ever imagined. And surprised laced her features, a soft snort escaping Waneta as her own ears fell backwards.
Love...? What..? Why? How? She wasn't beautiful and feminine like other mares. She didn't flirt and bat her eyes around like a lovesick philly.. and yet.. Her words caught in her throat. But at the same time, she didn't laugh. Nor did she taunt and tease, prod that he was some delusional fool. Because she herself felt something. Whether that was love.. ?
Stealing his nervousness she stood frozen like a spooked dear, as he continued, and found her mind reeling. She wanted to be near him, the longer she spent with him the more she knew that. Other then these awkward moments.. which apparently stemmed from the foreign concept.. he was fun to be around. He was fun to watch smile.. and to laugh with. She couldn't laugh.. and she couldn't talk because somewhere inside.. she felt something too. Didn't she?
Finally her eyes moved just a little, followed by the painfully slow lifting of her ears once more. And a soft whisper choked out of the mare.- "W..why?" -Why did he love her, as he said he did?-
-But as her eyes settled upon that smile once more, she quickly shook the word away, closing her eyes and a large breath escaped her. If all this nervous uncertainity was gone, then the awkwardness would be too, and in that moment she made one of the boldest decisions of her life.- "Nevermind. Yes okay. I'll do it."
-Standing tall once more, willing her tense body to loosen once again she smiled a little, adding lightly.- "You do have to promise something though."

Will's heart thumped louder and faster than ever before. He could have sworn that, if he had allowed it, his heart would jump right out of his mouth and dance all the way to the moon.
He smiled, stepping closer to Waneta... his girl. His one and only. His eyebrow quirked ever-so-slightly, his ears perking up. A deal, eh? This could be interesting...
But anything she asked him to do would be worth it. He saw himself spending the rest of his life with this mare... growing old, having foals. Elated expressions at finding out that his children were going to be parents. Becoming a grandparent. And he could see Waneta at his side throughout all of these daydreams, these hopes and goals.
"What is it, m'dear?" he asked, his voice growing steady and rich yet again.
