The woman charged into her room, furious. She immediately started pulling off bits of clothing and went to the bathroom to start the water. She needed a nice, long, hot bath to soothe her nerves. Between the horse-like startling she'd suffered seeing Zach and the fury that idiotic security guard had instilled in her...
Yes, this was definitely a necessity. As she finished getting undressed, she finished the water. She'd have to ask about lighters for the incense burners. She wondered if they'd even let her have one.
Still, she hadn't talked to Dr. Duvert about the tea ceremony she was planning with Sayuri yet either, and there were a lot of decorations and such she had to get for that. She'd ask about the lighter then too.
For now...soaking in the bath was heaven. She leaned back, allowing the hot water to wash away her troubles. After an hour or so-- she didn't know how long, not having a watch in the bath with her, she felt she was going to fall asleep any moment and climbed out despite the protests of her body.
She headed over to her bed, drying off and contemplating the usefulness of the hairdryer at this point, and pulled out the journal she'd brought with her.

Journal Entry:
I've been having difficulty sleeping lately. The past few nights have been particularly horrible. I can only sleep for six hours at the most, and that's when I exhaust myself beforehand using the Tai Chi videos I found in the recreation room.
And today...tonight was the worst. I went to that Halloween party, and I just...panicked. Particularly when I was approached by some freakish dragon-man. Dinosaurs and dragons? They ought to make a killing off of this freak show.
But I've never been so terrified in my life. It was like a physical manifestation of the fear and panick I see in the eyes of the animals I'm treating, or in the horses I ride. In fact, it reminded me a lot of the horses, when they spook. I felt spooked indeed.
That may have something to do with that Ginerva girl. She seemed almost excited about turning into some sort of freakish animal-human hybrid. Like it's a great privelage or something. I don't want to be a freak. I want to stay me.
And then there was that security guard. He's the exact opposite in a way, he thinks we're all a freak show. Apparently he thought it was really funny when he was on the other side of the fence. Not so funny now, is it? Not when you're going to be one of us.

Aislinn's injuries have been particularly painful to her since she woke after a night of dreadful dreams. Every step she takes seems to send pain shooting through her leg, and moving without the cane is simply not an option today. In fact, as the day progresses, perhaps it's strain on the injury, but there seems to be pain in places that she didn't even remember. And yet, conversely, the leg seems to be gradually able to support more of her weight without buckling ... right before IT starts. The entire surface of her legs begin to tingle as the hair follicles go into overdrive. Coarse brown fur spreads over the skin of her legs like an angry rash. From her hips to her ankles, the fur spreads, gradiating to a white the closer to her feet. Her toenails turn black - as if they had been smashed in a door, but do not fall off. INstead they thicken and harden. Her hips widen ever so marginally, but seem to reinforce - becoming stronger - but not entirely negating her injury... yet. A pulling sensation at her ears begins as her ears point and stretch through her hair... right before a hard twinge at the base of her spine as her tailboine unfuses and pushes out away from her buttocks. A short, thin, naked tail presses against the inside of her pants uncomfortably. But at less than four inches in length, it remains weak and easily hidden. Not too long after they began, the changes ebb away, leaving Aislinn... different.

She woke from the nightmares in -pain-. More pain than she could remember feeling since her accident and the follow-up surgeries. Her leg was in miserable pain, and she found that even getting up out of bed required her to grab something to prop herself up with, and she was incredibly tempted to just stay in bed rather than getting up...but she knew she couldn't. She'd hate herself if she did.
Over time, she managed to get herself going, though even the pain was excruciating. As the day moved on, it only seemed to increase, and showed up in areas she didn't remember ever hurting before, particularly the tailbone, which had been the first to heal of her injuries from the fall. It had only been a bruise, afterall, not a break.
Around noon, she'd retired to her room with a hot bath and some incense to relax herself, but just before she got into the tub it started.
Her fingernails dug into her skin as she scratched desperately at the itching on her legs. It felt like poison ivy magnified by the tickling feeling of the hairs shooting out of the follicles and growing longer and thicker. The fur around her ankles got particularly thick-- a familiar texture if the pain and itching weren't driving her too mad to think.
She watched in horror as her legs were covered by brown and white fur...and then her toenails turned black, thickened. She felt as though glue'd been stuck under them permanently.
And her hips. With a lurching pain they widened, settled into a more correct form, though she could still feel the offset that told her her pelvic bone wasn't completely corrected yet. It was closer, though, and she was certain she'd be able to move it a bit better.
She was distracted from these nearly coherant thoughts by pain in her -ears- of all places, as they stretched and pointed, and then screamed out in agony as her tailbone lurched into motion, growing and expanding, her skin stretching over it as it formed a sort of thin, naked tail.
As the pain started to ebb to a dull ache, she curled in on herself and wept. It was happening. It was really and truly happening. She was changing just like everyone else, into something...something else. She wasn't exempt from it.
A half hour later and she managed to clamber into the tub-- now refilled with hot water-- in hopes of soaking away the ache.

It was a slightly despondent Sayuri that finally knocked on the door of Duplex #73. She had fallen over a couple of times, each time landing on her scaled knees and picking herself up to keep going. She brushed dirt from her kimono - the longer and thicker fish tail lazily moving from side to side, peering out from a slit in the back of her kimono, she had finally adjusted a few of the slightly less colourful ones so that she could leave her Duplex - and waited for Aislinn to answer the door. She wondered how Aislinn would react..would she be afraid of the Maiko? She hoped not, Oz's reaction had been bad enough.

Aislinn had taken to covering up her own changes as best as she could. While the gray in her hair and the pointed ears would show no matter what, she'd found that a pair of heavy jeans went a long way to cover her hairy legs, and she wasn't terribly concerned about her black toenails being visible. They looked painted to the naked eye. Or at least, she thought they did.
She opened the door to her apartment, pulling on a pair of the mentioned jeans as she did-- she'd been lax about getting dressed and such, as she'd been keeping to herself more since the changes. She just didn't feel as confident as she had before.
"Hello?" she asked, then caught her breath. It was...strange seeing Sayuri as she was now. It was rather obvious she was turning into some sort of fish, and...it startled her.

'Hello,' she said quietly, and bowed low. Her hair slipped forward and as she straightened she pushed it back behind her ears, frowning as her fingers touched the new form of them. 'I hope Aislinn is okay. I had to come speak.' She looked fairly miserable as she was still finding walking hard. It was the concentrating on her steps, if she forgot herself and just tried to stroll as normal she would lose her balance.

Aislinn, on the other hand, was actually having an easier time of walking since her incident. While she still had to keep the cane with her, she was leaning on it a lot less.
She moved forward automatically, taking the woman's arm and trying her best to help her walk while still functioning with her own problem, "I am..well, I've been better. But, you look miserable."
Well, really, not much sense walking around it. She did look miserable, and the best way to open up conversation was to give her the opportunity to speak of it.

Sayuri let Aislinn help her a little, just enough to get inside her Duplex and then protested gently. 'You have own hurt. Should not be helping me.' she teetered a little but managed to stay upright this time. She nodded, letting out a frustrated sigh. 'You have place to sit? Easier then me fall over, and over..' she said, angry at her own body. She had had clumsy moments before the Island, but nothing compared to the last few days.
