"Well...it's a place they make metal into lots of different things. I wanted to see what they were making, that's all."

Not entirely truthful, but the bird had his reasons. Rather than go on about it, he cast a glance at her. "Which flower do you like best?"

She listened to him talk about the metal and wondered why he would like such a thing chalking it up to something Yume would call 'a guy thing'. After listening to his question she laid her ears backa bit, set her fingertip on her chin and looked about at allt he exotic flowers, their scents and colors flooding into her before her eyes settled on one pure white flower. It was lower to the ground and had a diameter of about 6 inches wide. The middle was a broad cup like shape with large lovely petals and longer, thinner petals framing the bottom of it. The pollen tips were glinted with just a bit of yellow as they curved in the most delicate of ways towards the center.

"That one, nothing else would compare." She smiled as she concentrated and inhaled the deliciously sweet scent of this one flower, this one Queen of the Night.

It was beautiful...Carl leaned forth and very delicately snaped one of them from their stem, bringing it closer to observe before pushing himself up. A grin played upon his features as with flower in hand he moved off, motioning her to follow him. "Come on! Let's see that forge. We'll come back to the garden later, ok?"

She watched him pluck the flower off and wondered what he intended to do. She smiled and nodded, standing up and following after him.

"Sure thing."

It wasn't a hard thing to find. The forge was set appart from the garden grounds, a large brick building stained with the black soot of an ever burning fire. Not something a King would normally be associated with, but the bird held the door open for his lady and traveled further on, manuvering around the various anvils and pits of raging white coals. A few workers toiled at forming weapons and ornaments for the castle walls, a few blowing beautiful glass spheres whilst a few other toiled to bring the molten metal into terrible shapes.

One was left unattended though. A sheet of metal sat upon an anvil with tools strewn about, perhaps left by some careless worker who had long snuck out to seek a nap behind the wood pile. This is where he paused, stopping for a moment and setting down the flower upon the anvil.

Just WHAT was he doing?

He didn't give an opportunity for her to ask before he began stripping off the top of his attire, throwing it asside for the moment to reveal his well formed torso. Anyone other than Carl would have realized that Trea must have been wondering what the hell he was thinking, but he only grinned and moved to it, lifting the slab and setting it over the fire pit, watching as golden hues of heats began to snake through and make it soft.

Trea looked around at all the people working as they moved closer to the empty work station. She pulled her hair back with her hands and the heat began to make itself known. The glass spheres kept her gaze for a while, the colors and bubbles in them making them beautiful.

She blinked as she turned to face him, still holding her hair back, blinking as she realized that he was shirtless. She watched as the small muscles caused movement of his feathers, they seemed to glide over each other seamlessly. She recalled from their time in the park once that he had done something with metal and his own hands, but what would he do now? And why did he bring the flower with them?

The blob of metal took a bit to heat, giving him time to seek out some gloves so as not to burn his hands. Granted - they wound up being altered, one or two fingers beging cut off and clw holes being set so that the small human gloves might work with the eagle. Once he slipped them on, he knew the substance to be ready and slowly manuvered it ont the anvil where the flower lay, perhaps forgotten, perhaps not.

And as quickly as she pleased, he began shearing away at the metal, taking out unnessesary parts whilst beginning to form the rest of it in his hand. For a time it would look nothing at all like what it was meant to become, but if Trea were patient and continued to watch, slowly blossoming petals were carefully formed by the smooth of his claws, their edges sealed by fire and adorned by water as he set the shape and continued with the rest of it until he opened his hands to her to present a fair likeness of her flower.

Trea had pulled up a turned over bucket to sit and watch in the fire light as shavings of metal gracefully fell to the floor. For hours it seemed she sat and watched his talons scrape at the metal and curve it. She blinked a few times as she thought of how delicately he moved his talons, with such care and almost tenderness. How had she ever been afraid of them? After some time she sat up, just as he revealed the whole purpose of being here. The metal had been formed to the flower that she adored so much. She smiled and stood up, moving close to him and lightly lifting it from his hands into her own. The metal was still warm but not so much that it would keep her from holding it.

"Carl... this.. this is wonderful!" She turned the flower to either side and admired it, then looked to the other flower and frowned a bit before giggling. "It looks like you finished this just in time." She nodded to the real flower which had started to wilt and turn brown in the heat.

"Perhaps it is time that we get back to the shop though. It seems like we have been gone awhile. " She smiled as she said this and looked back at the object he had crafted just for her.

The smile on her face warmed him more than the fires of the forge, such happiness in his craft that washed over him two fold as he observed her expression. The bird still had alot to learn about metal working, and one day he would melt that flower back down and bring it back in a way that would make in nearly real...but that day would be the one where he truly mastered the thing he loved doing...and...perhaps, something else in its own sweet time. However, she was right about time getting away from them, so he began slipping his attire back on so that they could depart for the door. "We'll be back before they begin to worry, and someday we'll come back and spend more time exploring the castle and gardens...Perhaps even have a picnic?"

With the last of his clothes on he moved to her and offered his hand. "I would like that very much..."

She nodded and smiled while taking his hand, holding the flower in her other. She loved it deeply despite the bumps and mishaps that adorned areas of it.

"A picnic would be really nice. Maybe one day, after we know our land better we can bring other friends here with us. We will have to do something about a stable near the entrance of our path though, so there may always be a horse for us." She looked up as they continued their way out, still holding his hand. "However, we will deal with that after our next trip."

"Mhm, but I have an idea where we can get ahold of one." Once the front of the castle was reached, Carl let loose a high whistle that would summon one of two things. Either a servant would bring them Appollo, or the horse would come on his own accord to escort them home. The latter it was what approached, the horse trotting up to the two calmly as you'd please. Carl made to assist Trea up first before again climbing up on his own, looking back to make sure she was comfortable before going any farther. "Are you ready, my Queen? Home is just a few moments away..."

Trea smiled and nodded as she wrapped her legs against the horse and her arms around Carl. She yawned slightly and leaned her head against his back, the long trip of the day taking its toll on her, but soon she would be home in bed and resting for another wonderful trip.

He smiled and reached back to stroke her hair for a moment before taking up the reigns and gently flicking them against the ivory neck of their steed. The way home was slow and gentle so as not to disturb the girl, and as the sky melted into molten fire, Carl just enjoyed the warmth of the evening that would be the first of many more he hoped to spend the same way.

Only when the door was reached did Carl turn back around to gently place his hand on her shoulder. "Trea...we're here."

She looked up and yawned, covering her mouth as she did so before stretching.

"It was a very nice ride." She smiled as she slid from the horses back, normally she would have waited for his help but she was just ready to go home, even though she had much enjoyed that night. She looked around and decided that she would like to spend a few days here.

"When we go out the door, you should carve something into it so we know which door we took."

Carl slid off and nodded, taking up her hand and starting towards the door that lay not but a few feet ahead of them. "I'll mark it so that only we'll know what it means. But let's just head on home before I have to carry you there.." He chuckled softly and grinned at her. "Not that I would mind or anything."
