Sid said nothing, even though it would probably be good practice to keep spouting bullshit words of reassurance. He looked back from the lake to Billy, while the curiosity over his silence slowly fermented into anxiety.

"Y'remind.... me o' me... o' me Da..." The insane cepholopod mumbled, mental exhaustion written all over his sedated features. "Y'won'.... take yer belt t'me would ye?" It seemed he was honestly concerned.

"Ah th... seen worthe," Sid said with a shrug.
What he meant was people in the grips of assorted mind altering substances. As far as physical appearances were concerned he couldn't say the same. He mentally kicked himself for the choice of words.

"F'y'want me... I'll be here... or leave a note... on me chair," He murmured, taking a good long while to drag himself across the grass on his belly towards the water needily.

Sid remained seated, morbidly fascinated with the way Billy moved. It occurred to him that he ought to offer to help... but as little as he appreciated that sort of thing himself he decided against it. He waited until Billy made it too the water before he stood up.
The water, right, he was going to have to get used to the idea of one day spending a helluva lot of time there. He shook his head, there were more immediate things to worry about- like working on his speech and the inevitable withdraw. Maybe he could manage off second hand smoke...
At least he still had booze.
