((Too late for that...))

With a flare of anger Glith's eyes began to whirl fiercely. The wave of hostility buffeted Tolara and she had to reach a hand out to steady herself. Dear gods would she hate to be the one on the recieving end of the golds anger.

Disdaining the usual politeness of speaking through the riders dragon Glith drew her considerable bulk upwards.

How dare you interupt. Get out. OUT! The voice hissed into Riran's mind, venom and hate leaking into each word.

"I don't care about your sharding hatching!" Riran hissed. "As far as I'm concerned, all of you riders are worthless to Pern! I want my sister over here now! She's not even suppose to be out there on the sands. What dimglow did she trick into thinking she was a candidate?!"

Kirana winced as Riran's words echoed through the grounds. Oh, she was going to get it. She was going to get it big time. Either the riders would gut her, or her brother would gut her when he got his hands on her.

Riran jumped as he heard the venomous words echo in his head. Stumbling backwards, he glanced about frantically.

"Yeah, I remember almost getting run over by Glith, and the chaos of it all. Was I scared? I don't really know as I had time to even think about it, and then Garanth was standing there, all imperious and proud, and chose me...still breaks me up a bit to think about it. Good to see you Gail, I have not had much chance to talk with you much in a while, or with G'dor or anyone. I cannot believe how busy it has been lately. Perhaps we should get together after the hatching and do some catch up...that includes you too, R'ign...and you can bring the wine." He said the last with a smirk and a wink.

Then he heard the yelling at the entrance to the hatching grounds. His face went from smirk to frown. "Ohh, oh...this looks like it could be trouble. The fool has no idea what he is doing, if he upsets Glith...with the events of the past few days - getting her upset would be very, very bad." He stood up. "I will be back, hopefully this does not prove a problem... G'dor, it might be good if you came too - he should not get too uppity with two bronze riders standing by, eh?" He began to quickly move towards the entrance, not daring to wait for G'dor's response. If this became a problem it would need to be dealt with quickly.

Glith trumpeted, as Tolara hastily tried to calm her down. The fuss was still going on and the thing still hadn't left. Her eyes were whirling so fast it almost seemed as if they were standing still.

Get out before I remove you myself. The muscles in her body tensed, preparing to launch at the irritation.

Riran stumbled backwards a few more paces before tripping over his own two feet and falling to the ground, crawling the rest of the way out of the grounds, mumbling to himself about telling mother and getting Kirana punished.

Kirana smiled weakly as she tucked her chin to her chest, trying not the draw any attention to herself. Confused and unsure of what would happen from this point on, now that they knew she didn't truly belong, Kirana didn't want to make the situation any worse.

Gail stood up watching the two bronze riders progress; Glith looked like a demon as she stood there in all her impressive bulk looming at the stupid little man.
"The Holder's would have our necks if Glith hurts him..." She spoke from her time as a Harper. "They horribly distrust the dragonriders... Oh dear, be reasonable Glith..." She said through clinched teeth. This could be bad; this could be very bad.

"Oh Shards!!! That tears it!" K'elt began to run. *Garanth, if there is anything you can do to calm Glith, try it...we will get this fool out of here, hopefully before she goes too far. Damn!"

T'rin glared at the man, inwardly wincing at the thought that he'd been tricked. But the dragons would know who was theirs and if she Impressed, well, good for her. "Riders are useless? If it weren't for the dragonriders, you would've all been killed by Thread!"

The bluerider turned as the man jumped, groaning at the sight of Glith. "Now you've done it. You've angered Fort's senior queen. If you don't leave now, none of us will be responsible for what she does. Golds have quite a temper," he added coldly.

--------------------

R'ign grinned, holding up the wineskin in her hand. "I'll bring this and more," she ensured the bronzerider, grinning broadly. The grin turned into a frown at the sight of the shouting man and angry Glith. "Shells..." She noticed that the rider in front of the man was T'rin and was glad that K'elt was going to help.

Glith, my queen, please be at ease. Mine and the other riders will remove the irratation quickly...I will help them if you command me, but we must not risk hurt to the human, however foolish or arrogant he may be. Give us a few more moments, please my queen?

Riran lingered at the entrance of the grounds before grumbling, "Be warned. If anything happens to my sister, you're all being held responisble," He said before moving back towards the caravan out in the Weyrbowl.

Kirana heaved a sigh, glancing around to everyone as she bite her lower lip, "Sorry...?"

((bah, my post was a bit late... *magically moves it upwards*))

T'rin sighed, turning to see K'elt running towards him. "I'll make sure he stays out. Though I don't think he'll try and get back in."

-----------------------------

R'ign nodded. "True. If word of this gets out, even with her just chasing him out, it could be bad for us. If only they knew what dragonriders risk each time they fight Thread to save their hides!" She muttered angrily, fists clenched tightly, her knuckles turning white.

In the commotion, a small egg that had been hidden among it's siblings cracked open spilling another hatchling onto the ground. Weakly it began to scrabble it's way out of the cluster of eggs.

Finally it managed to slid to an exhausted heap on the sands. Pitifully it looked up and around at the candidates and comotion. Creening sadly, the hatchlings gaze was focused on the man, until he decided to leave. Things settling down, the hatchling took a happier note as it finally started to look for it's rider.

K'elt arrived at the entrance. He looked at the retreating back of the offending holder. "That was close, is everyone here ok? I'll have Garanth keep an eye on him until he has left the weyr, just in case he decides to do something...unwise." *Garanth, keep an eye on twitroll there, make certain he does no harm to anyone or anything on the way out, but do not approach him. Let us handle him if need be.* Done...

K'elt turned to face where the still agitated queen stood. He bowed formally, and whispered "All is well again, be at ease and take joy as the young ones find their lifemates." He hoped that she would pick up his thoughts. He then stood and took up a guarding posture near the entrance with the other riders.

Riordan watched as the first egg broke open and the hatchling stumbled and fell before another candidate. He turned to see the next dragonet have problems breaking its shell and bit his lip at the sight of the hatchling in pain.

The sudden commotion on the Sands made the boy jump, looking over his shoulder to see a man shouting at a bluerider and pointing at one of the candidates. He could only catch parts of what the man was saying over the commotion, but it sounded like he was angry about the girl being on the Sands.

He turned to watch the dragonets again and his green eyes opened wide in panic as he saw Glith rise fearfully up, eyes whirling rapidly. He took a step back at the sight of the angry gold, not taking his eyes away from the sight. Finally, the gold started to calm and he glanced back, noticing that there were now three dragonets.

Slowly Glith relaxed, although her eyes still whirled a faint reddish color. With copious amounts of icy dignity she replied to the bronze I am quite allright Garanth, now that that thing is gone.

It seemed that the man had brought some spirit back to the gold as she began to watch the hatching with an intense interest markedly diffrent from her earlier apathy.

Tolara collapsed against Glith, drained with the effort of trying to calm her lifemate. All her energy had gone into projecting feelings of joy and welcoming leaving her sapped and weak. Slowly the grief she had managed to keep at bay began to swamp her, tears silently falling.
