Ihlo was not quite so eager to get physical as her brother was. Instead, she had silently sunk into a self-reflective state of mind. Shielded by her mother, and reassured by the presence of her siblings and this new friend, Ihlo simply stared at the dark blurb, just trying to pick out any details at all.

It moved! It was coming closer. The fine figure of a male came into clear view now, with fur as dark as night, and scorching swirls of red.

"Momma? You know that lion?"

Harabu looked at her and smiled.

"The king, Asikari, he found me when I was a cub and brought me up like a son, I went wandering, I needed to and have returned with my mate." He looked at the cubs again and took some time thinking.

They looked so much like him, like they were his cubs but no, she wouldn't have been stupid enough to bring cubs that were his to his home, no she wasn't that stupid, anyway, she wouldn't have had his cubs.

He flicked his tail behind him.

"I can't recall your name. Are all these cubs yours?" He hadn't seen the recent litters and had a dislike of Asi's eldest daughter as she had terrified him when he was younger which led to him avoiding her, he didn't know much of the litters around the pride at the moment.

"I see..." The lioness kept herself between Harabu and the cubs, though, still not sure. "Not all of the cubs are mine. The red-haired female isn't. But the other three are..." Tail flicking, she watched him. "My name is Ishara... And if my memory hasn't slipped me yet, you were the last male I encountered to be able to have cubs. Logic, if one applies it... States that Sairin, Ihlo, and Tota'keke are your cubs. After all..." She sat down, tail curling around the cubs. "They have some of the same markings you do." She paused, looking at Sairin. "Well, two of them do."

Adult talk. Ihlo was not yet of an age to fully understand every word spoken between them. And besides, she was not the best listener. She was an observer. But she knew enough to grasp what her mother was explaining to this, frankly, scary looking lion.

Thats my daddy!

Before thinking, she just charged forward from underneath her mother, a wide, exuberant smile on her face and a very certain bounce in her step.

That was his WHAT!?

Sairin gave Harabu a sneer of disgust, before moving next to his mother's paw, rubbing it slightly anbd eying the elder male. He'd never been there, and if his mother didn't appear his mate, he wanted little to nothing to do with him. Dark angry eyes narrowed thus at his father, fur bristling as he uttered a dull growl at the older lion.

Sairin had no problem biting, and clowing to protect himself, his mother, and his siblings.

This... lion... was... his... father...? Tota'keke found that that comprehension was tearing him both ways. He wanted to embrace the fact that he now knew he had a father, but at the same time, he was revolted by the fact that this lion had abandoned them... and had found another, and stayed with that one. He looked to Sairin, who obviously didn't like the lion, their father, who abandoned them, and then at Ihlo, who obviously embraced the fact that they found their father.

He then glanced up at his mother, and her expression made him worry. "Momma?" he quipped, batting at her gently. "This lion... is he really our Daddy?" He couldn't believe it, and yet, Harabu's markings told him otherwise. He shrunk back against Ishara, deciding that this foreboding dark lion just couldn't be his father. No. And still, he was torn between wanting to greet his father happily and at the same time wanting to tear him apart for leaving them, leaving Ishara. Frustration took over, and he wanted to slip and sleep. He was too young; too unready for this kind of thing.

This was all way over Jini's head. She felt like she was imposing on something she really shouldn't witnessed.

This wasn't any of her business, she knew that, but didn't particularly care. Jini often let curiosity rule her decisions and this time was no exception. Unsure of what to do, the dark cub's ears flattened against her head and she took a few steps back, willing to be out of the spotlight, for once.

Harabu laughed, "No little ones I am not. Your mother is as delussional as when I first met her, hurt, alone and somewhat dead. I gave her something she wished, some happiness, I was under orders then, had to return to my king, or I would not have lived." Why was he explaining these to cubs he did not relate to? Goodness knows.

"Have fun here Ishara, dont feed your children lies, its not exactly nice now is it?" He smiled, somewhat softly. He had no children.

He then turned to the other cub, "Who are your parents little one?" She wasn't related to the other three but he hadn't seen her around or any litter mates, so there wasn't any harm in asking.

"No, I suppose you're right... They're only related by blood, nothing more." Her tail lashed slightly. Such an irresponsible male..! She looked back at the cubs. "Just keep in mind... As long as you grow up well, you don't always need a father." She leaned down and groomed over her daughter, then her sons. "It's only by blood you're related to him at all... Don't mind him." She threw a glare towards the male, then began to usher the cubs away. "Why don't you take us to the pride, little one? We'd most appreciate it."

Oh no that lion di-int! Sairin haunched a bit before rushing between Harabu and Jini, glaring up at the older male as forcefully as possible. How DARE the stranger call his mother delusional. How DARE he! Sairin unsheathed his tiny cub-claws as he kept his eyes trained on the older male, growling a bit once more.

"Go away." Sairin fairly hissed.

Yeah, he was so loving and understanding. XD Or stupid. Y'know, either or.

Jini's head spun for a second or two and the cub scrambled to get everything in check. It seemed that there were things going on here, there and everywhere and she was having some difficulty comprehending it all at once.

It was clear to her that this adult male and the other cub's mother had met somewhere before. Supposedly, he was their father. Perhaps, he wasn't. She hadn't a clue who to believe.

Instead, she decided to respond to their questions.

"My pa is Uumikaji and my ma is Syeira," Jini said slowly and eyed Sairin with uncertainty.

Then, she turned to Ishara and gestured in the direction of the pride with her chin, "It's this way."

"Tota no understand," he whined, rubbing his head against his mother's leg. How could this lion be their father and say he wasn't, and then his mother say they were only related by blood, which made this lion his father and... and...

His head hurt. A lot. All this information was going into one ear and out the other, and at the same time he understood what was going and yet he didn't. To say the least, the poor cub was confused beyond reason and had lost what little he'd learned because the situation excited and scared him all at once.

The emotions he was feeling made his tiny body shake, and all he could do was whine. For the moment, anyway. He had forgotten about Jini, the other cub, until she said something, but then his attention returned to his overfilled with information mind and he forgot about her again. For the moment.

But...he looked like a daddy. He looked like her daddy. Why...why didn't he want to play? And tell stories? And protect her and her brothers? Thats what a daddy was supposed to do, right?

Ihlo looked miserable. Her mother's grooming lightening her heart only a little bit, but she sulked as she turned away from Harabu and sheltered beneath her mother. She so so sure! Maybe...maybe that lion wasn't her daddy, maybe he was still out there somewhere.

"I want to see our new home mommy," she said, trying to perk up a little bit and at least sound enthusiastic.

The lioness glared at the male before turning to the cubs. "Let's go, then." She smiled at Jini, nuzzling her lightly. "Please, do show us the way..." Turning, she scooped Sairin up by the scruff. There was no fighting for HIM. Not yet, anyway.

Sairin continued to watch Harabu,m ruffed or not, tiny teeth baring slightly.

"You stay away from Momma." He growled. "You stay away from all of us, or I'll kill you."

Big words for one so small.
