Munashii watches the exchange from the Ethereal Plane, marvelling at the power that both of these men had. The Darth Nihilus mask couldn't hide the intent look in the figure's eyes, and the maidens of the ghost stand in a four-part pattern around their commander..using a ghost barrier to protect them all from the backlash of extra energy emanating from the two warriors.
Munashii gazes down from the floating position in the Ether..fate is twining and it won't be long. There's an actual sigh from behind the mask..the figure's eyes closing, as if in resignation..

Sporadically visible images of what appear to be dragon tails rush out of the space behind Kain, slamming into the EBTs and grappling with them. [Tails of the Ikusenryuu]. This was normally a defensive measure for full-on attacks, but it could work in this situation as well.
Kain smiled behind their locked swords for a moment. He understood that his opponent had just stepped up in some way, and decided to do the same. "FALL!"
Kain's already inhumanly-large muscles tripled in size as his scales became more pronounced. With a sickening crunch, a looong tail spurted from his back, talons erupted from his fingertips, and his wingspan increased by another half. His neck elongated slightly and his face melted outwards into a scaled muzzle. [Drake Form]
Dragon energy surged into this newly-awakened body, igniting insane strength, which was brought to bear on Vandole. Also, Ryuutsumesatsujin's form changed again, taking on two right angles... yes, two. Forming a boxy-scythe at the end. "Apologize to me..." And he struck with a flurry of blows!

arrow Island 1; Shores of the Apocalypse
Vandole watches nonplussed as his opponent takes on a higher form. It's not that surprising really, and in a way he expects it. He meets his opponent head on, mutliple minds guiding multiple defenses for every flurry, and as the air becomes a torrent of blades, Vandole simply skids back, his cape fluttering around him. He sighs. It's time, he supposes. He sheathes Alhazzad, strangely enough, and it winks out of being from him. He gestures, and a different weapon forms in front of his person, which he draws out of its scabbard. It looks like a simple silver sword..
"I do not apologize. I do not believe in apologies. Just because you prove something otherwise..does not mean that the present changes. Apologies are for those who care about the past. I will attain absolution for my sin. Can you say the same?"
And with that, he swings his hand, forming a giant tome..pages tear out of it, and begin to float in orbit around his body in a blazing aura. He floats in the air, the pages of whatever ancient tome it is constantly turning in an ethreal wind around his body..his hair waving about his face..

Kain watches as his opponent retreats to perform yet another action. "Unlike you, I don't go out into the world seeking redemption for my sins, the only power that has the ability to set myself at ease with my transgressions is that which has wronged... and that is myself alone. No force anywhere has the authority to say differently. I am at peace with myself, and therefore one with myself." Skin pulled back from the right side of the Draconian's anthromorphic maw. "And I blaze in glory."
A scintillating aura spread out from within Kain's released form, making him difficult to look at in the material plane and using second sight... "Ryuutsumesatsujin! Shinjigoku: Enkatsuken!" His left arm wreathed itself in a white light, the incarnation of Positivity, his right cascaded in what appeared to be black flames, the visage of Negativity. Yin and Yang were reacting to Kain's call... if Vandole thought he had Kain now, he was mistaken. Kain was no fool, he understood he wasn't going to defeat the self-styled Dark Emperor, but he was going to do his damn best in top form to keep him in check.
Kain gave a roar the like that shook the heavens, driving away the clouds and causing the waters nearby to recede. "CEASE YOUR FOOLERY AND FACE ME IN BATTLE!" This was accompanied with a seismic pulse of Dragon energy that rippled through the Islands. The strain of holding back was beginning to fray at his control...

arrow Shore of Island 1
The emperor sighs. He just muses as he gazes on the heavens, and oddly enough, it begins to rain. It's immediate..the entire chain of islands covered in a slow, steady rain that increases..and he nods. Those violet eyes of his lose their simple amusement..the contempt they've been holding all this time. The pages of the tome stop spinning, and replace themselves in the book, which closes with a slam, and vanishes. He raises his sword in salute..and smiles quietly..
"As you wish. I acknowledge you as a worthy opponent..you have the heavens with you, so I know now that perhaps there is something worth sparing after all. You have proven your merit. There is only one more I seek to test..but..if it is what you wish..I will fight you with no regrets with one more attack. I want to see if you can withstand this. Show me..show me with your own hands, that I was not wrong in my judgement."
And he lifts his left hand...and within it, energy gathers. A single ball of black energy. A sound can be heard..then a thousand sounds..then a million..and a million more. Crying voices..voices of those in despair..in pain..lost, afraid, unable to go on...the cries of every living thing that he has touched..both for him and against him..the pale mane of white hair flutters around his face..and he lifts his head, a sad smile adorning his lips..
"Absolution comes from one higher than ourselves. There is always one greater, Kain. And no matter what we are one with..we must answer for our sins. For our transgressions. At peace or not..there is always uncertainty. Always pain. Always despair. This rain..it is the heavens crying for me..because I will never shed another tear. Remember this well."
And the ball becomes a tiny spheres that draws into the man's hand..before it launches into a massive black beam of pure energy; there is no negative..no positive..this is different. It is the power of his emotion..an eon of sorrow..of anger..of loss, pain, and suffering. It is the essence of mourning and the tears of all those and himself included, who have been touched by his will..all transmuted into force..into energy. The backlash of it is enough that it blows a long line in the sand behind him, and uproots trees. The blast becomes a tsunami of force as it travels from him..dodging it would almost be out of the question; and as it moves, it takes the shape, in and out, of millions of screaming, crying women..

All that is said..and as the rain falls..it's like he's a different person..his face a quiet mask..his hand shakes from the release and hold of power..this is what he was containing..and it's not but a fraction of all he's felt..within and without of himself..

Slitted eyes split wide, and he ceased his smiling. Ryuutsumesatsujin melted away... around his arms as gauntlets would. Ornately runed claws flickered into being as he planted his foot-talons deep into the earth.
"The lives of men, the deaths of gods, rise and meet in perilous junction. Seize the moon and release the sun, grow your hundred wings and fly high enough to kiss the bloodied demons above! ENKATSURYUUKEN KYOKUDO!"
arrow Inland, Near the Shore
A Hold disaster-dispatch crewman looked up from her work, wiping dust off of her forehead with a white sleeve and snowflake print. As she did, she witnessed Vandole's swath of pure despair and her eyes widened. "W-what, he can't seriously fire that off here!" But off to her left, a bright white light sparkled in equal fury. "Not him, too!"
Beside her, the crew chief stood. "Kichuki Ikura, we have to pull out."
Sweating slightly at their situation, she nodded, taking a moment to fix the single lock of hair that rested between her eyes before running off to join her fleet crewmates.
arrow Shore
Large white and black particles gathered between Kain's talons as the black beam rushed towards him, tearing away topsoil and large rocks. His eyes lit up, consumed in suffused lights of barely-contained flame, an unearthly aura pouring from his sockets. "Take this! It is my love, my anger, and all of my sorrow... Kobushi no Uchuuryuuhonoo!" One part salvation and one part devastation, Kain thrust his taloned hands forward, gauntlets sparking with the channeled power of Yin, Yang, and the as-of-yet unnamed dragon that Kain was flesh of... equal in size, intensity, force, and energy, it tore through the waking world and into the metaphysical... seemingly ripping away everything it touched from the universe... air and materials included.

She has been watching, laying in wait, her sword propped up over her shoulder, waiting for the battle to end. At the preparation of something.. stronger, she removes her shoulder from where it lays, and spins it once in her hand, planting the tip of the blade into the ground. From that point, it seems to grow stable, as a small bubble of energy pulses outward from her body, surrounding her in the globe. She was protected. Though she couldn't say the same for anyone else foolish enough to be in the radius of such strong magics.

"Excellent."
All he says as he holds his arm out..the two forces colliding, meeting in the middle. Amazing, that power. Still...with eons of pain..comes a great strength born of despair. With them holding their hands out like that, it was inevitable that the strength that both held would collide with vicious truth. Black lightning arcs off of the shore and the water, off of the trees and the sky. The two powers become as a great black sphere, held between the two, as the excess energy becomes a colliding wall. The attack a ball in the center, with excess power going the opposite directions. It's a vying for control between two immovable walls.
He stands there, the ground tearing up around his body, his eyes glowing red and his teeth like unto demonic fangs..showing part of his true self in this single moment. Kain has the power of the dragons..and it shows. But Julias..he has something different. He isn't just connected to divinity..he is divinity. The man before him..his body and mind have limits, and he knows that if this continues..it won't be good.
"This ends now..my enemy!"
And the sphere ripples outward...into a massive ball of blackness..streaked with white..that implodes on itself before erupting into a titanic explosion..and when the smoke clears..he's standing there..his hand out..and the damage to the landscape is..minimal. It's like he contained the entire blast..all with a force of will..
"I salute you..truly..the old ways are not dead."

arrow I Don't See a Shore...
When the smoke has cleared and the rubble has receded back to the earth... Kain is on his scaley hands and knees. But... his scales seemed much less blueish grey than they were before. They seemed to be slowly consumed by black around their edges... and it was spreading.
Talons extended, smoke curled away from his runed gauntlets as Yin and Yang drew back their power, knowing that Kain's body could only handle so much. Maw open with serrated fangs bared, black steam drifted up from between those rending daggers set within gaping jaws... and his eyes sparked with an otherworldly flame. Lightning flashed, playing across his muscles, and he kneeled within a crater rimmed with what appeared to be shadows... blazing spirits made visible, struggling to break away from him.
"Why... why did you stop?" His mouth moved not, it only continued to smoke as these changes took place. "I was... I was almost free..."
The crater deepened, bringing the ring of flaming souls to a pained scream as they were slowly dragged back. Thick arms rose, crackling with darkened energy... before clutching tightly to his chest. "No, get back, back within... I am still in control, I am still Kain Ra'Shiel... I am sti..."
In a flash of blazing light, radiating immeasurable forms of energy violet, blue, and white into the sky, permeating the area into only three colors - he finally stepped in.
=Retreat, Koryuu, you will not have him yet. He still resists, and as long as he continues to fight, so will I! You will not have him yet!=
Mewtwo reached out, laying a three-spheroid hand on Kain's forehead. In a flash, the light that Mewtwo had been exuding rushed back into his body and slammed into Kain's form with a smooth transition, throwing the Dracon back out of the crater. Mewtwo turned, levitating above the pit with purpose... This time he directed towards Vandole.
=Julias, you do not wish to continue this. I will not allow it, the dracon is my partner, and I have no desire for him to destroy himself in the attempt to drive you to the ground= For the briefest of instants, an image was projected from the psychic's mind, there was but the flash of red hair, a face... and it was gone. By the time it faded, Mewtwo was helping Kain back up onto his feet... =Is that what you want?=
The blue and grey had returned to his scales, and the arcs of electricity and illicit power had finally receded. The smoke had ceased billowing, and Kain stood steadily, gaining his feet. He looked more exhausted by what he'd just fought off than by the battle.
"Thank you, Myuutsu. Answer him, Vandole..." He brought his gauntleted arms up. "Why?"

"So you could see her..I see. You're perceptive, but I understand. That woman..she was..it's not important. I wanted to test him, true. I wanted to know his will. I could sense that dark power, and I wished for it to stay where it was. My purpose is not to destroy needlessly. I am a creature of order, not chaos. Truly, I suppose you can say that my desire was to see if there was hope yet for any world. Most of the time, my subjects of interest fail. Terribly. I stopped because I didn't want this to become something on the level of a godswar. That wasn't my intent. It's needless, and stupid. My wish is different. Could you really understand it?"
He gazes up at the rain, closing his eyes..
"Those eyes of hers..always so full of fire. I've never really moved on, you know. I'm obsessed, I suppose. Still, there's something to be said for suffering endlessly. It lets you know that in the end, a man's sins are worth keeping close, so that he is able to find absolution for those sins one day. My men are still fighting..it's almost time. I have one more test to administer. Like the wind, I am a force of change..I will bring change. I will test one who is unsure of herself.."
His eyes flick upward to Yumiko, then away, to something unseen beyond the trees..
"Fascinating. Such a thing lives here. I wonder if anyone really knows..ah well. I'll let him observe for now. He's not a danger at this time. It's pointless to think about it. Kain, you did well. Be proud of yourself. You stood up to one of my greatest attacks.."

When Vandole's eyes seem to flick toward her, the woman stills, her head lifting just slightly.
She had a feeling this was coming. She wasn't even sure she was ready herself though.

Kain followed where Vandole's gazes were directed, frowning slightly. He was witnessed... "Damnit, someone saw me." He quickly reverted to his human form in what could be considered a reverse transformation... it sounded painful indeed. "I don't need anyone knowing what I am."
Kain looked up, over to Vandole. "And what makes you think you have the right to judge others? Why impose your judgement on the problems of others when you haven't even come to terms with your own? Left alone, a life lives itself, and can only turn out how it is lived. I may not be a god, and I might be young even for my species... but I know this to be true." Ryuutsumesatsujin appeared, re-sheathed and sealed at Kain's side. He spared a glance behind him, to the towering form of Big Shoop.
Mewtwo floated quietly beside Kain, monitoring the containment control Kain was keeping on himself... even though the Dracon was quick to shrug off any visible effects, he was still waging a war within, trying to get Koryuu's spirit back within the seal Seiryuu had provided him with. Within, Yueryuu was aiding Kain's struggle... it had been close.

"I know what you mean. But we all do things our own way, don't we? You have an inner struggle of your own you're going through. I can't help you with that..but there is something I can help you with. You survived the Maiden's Cry. That's admirable. Even with help from another source, it's obvious you're not just anyone. I can respect someone who fights against their own inner darkness..or their inner light. I suppose you're not as..at peace as you thought you were though..eh?"
He chuckles, and shakes his head, musing on the past. Judgement is not meant for those who are not ready for it. No, he knew that if he doesn't test them..who will? In time, they'll forget he was here..but he'll know, and that they were ready.
"Just understand that if I hadn't come here, some darker force could have. What gives me the right to do what I do is the same right that man has to start meaningless wars that murder children and the innocent. The fact is, we all have a right to do as we will regardless of circumstance, don't you think? And be honest. What I have done, would have happened anyway. At least we didn't divide by Zero. In any case..I have something for you. It's more suited to you anyway. It doesn't agree with me."
He gestures, causing a small temporal ripple..and it's as if cherry blossoms are flowing around him all of a sudden, made of light. Heh, Senbonzakura? No. But it's just as beautiful. Holding out his hand, and closing his eyes, he smiles..
"I can feel the spirit of that time..I hope you appreciate what I'm about to do..as I haven't reached into this for some time. I avoided it..because of the memories it brings me. Heir of the Dragons..I grant you this..because it is what you wish."
And a pale silver light engulfs his outstretched hand..and a small crystalline sphere forms within. The sphere grows, to be about the size of a computer monitor in size..about twenty inches at least in its general width, but it's bigger than that. Inside of it is what looks to be a small tree..its leaves sparkle, and the bark is wet with a constant dew. Held in the branches is what looks to be a glittering egg..
"this is..a remnant of the tree of life..and beginning. A long time ago, there were several of these trees. They existed in different worlds. I saved this one from Avalon..where I used to live with her. When we were as one..but..I have no use for this anymore. Inside that egg..is something you seek. I won't go into detail, but..I think you can guess.."
He turns his eyes to Mewtwo..and he nods..
"You understand already, I'm sure.."

Kain spat a bit of blood upon the earth, ignoring the grass that sprung from it. "So, I passed your test, did I?" He closed his eyes. "Then what of the others? My comrades?"
He stops as he notices the cherry blossom-display and lifts a brow. There was a slight pulse along the Dragon Lines he was sensitive to. "This is... a tree of life?" Ignoring the fact that Vandole had up until recently been about to either destroy him in one way or the other, Kain stepped forward. "Amazing."
Behind, Mewtwo's purple-golden eyes fixed on Julias. The man bore with him a tree of life, that didn't bode well. What the hell sort of creature was he to simply carry one around with him like that...? Then Mewtwo noticed the egg, and visibly blinked several times.

"There were only one or two I wanted to truly test..one isn't here, sadly..and I cannot stay but so long. this is a Tree of Life from Avalon. I carried it, in this stasis crystal..it's yours now. It will never grow any further..but this is..well..the egg is yours to care for. Keep the Riolu safe. They aren't seen often in your world. I could read your desires..some of them anyway. This one is different from most. It is blessed with the magic of Avalon. This little tree once grew for someone I loved..it is one of the few items I have that are memories of her. I do not part with them lightly.."
He sighs and again looks up at the sky, and the rain falling. How long has it been since that thing has been off of the pedestal in his chamber? So long..and yet, he knew one day it would pass hands..
"It can grow any life. But only once. And then it will just be a simple life tree that can no longer grow any further than what you see. I have instructed it to grow this life for you..and you will find it is different..more pure and more strong..than one you would find on a world like this one, full of technology. On Avalon, only the Old Ways were true..pure magick..this is..all I can offer. For my sin against you, I offer this.."
He muses..
"There is one more I must test. Her power has grown so much. I have to make sure her heart will not cause her power to destroy her. She has someone near to her heart that is much like I..remembering a firey haired beauty..that he cannot let go of..I must know if she is ready to fight. If she is ready for this new power. You see I never had the intent of destroying your island, or your people. But if you believed I wasn't serious..would you truly have fought me with any real resolve?"
