Maryland!! I would comment on how much my band owns you all, but instead I'll write and let you draw your own opinions... DeMathaBands= five main bands, three percussion ensembles, two string groups, two jazz groups, one pep band. Grade(s)=I-VI(from the lowest to the highest band) 2008 All state members= 4 instrumentalists Total all-state= over 400!(since 1974) WAMTC Festival= I,I,I,I,I(out of five bands, from lowest to highest) note: rated number one in the nation for 18 out of 20 years by the National Catholic Bandmaster's Association...25 gold medals in international festivals from Chicago, Toronto, Orlando, Atlanta, Nashville, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, and Daytona Beach... We get to miss classes to attend Sectionals (sections rehearsing together), plus most of us have private lessons During the School Day... I also happen to notice Maryland players have a higher level of exellence than most other states. Who can top us?NONE, THAT'S WHO!

Michie Flower Oh yeah!Go MD! But you really didn't have to brag about it. Ah, but I have every right to. Friendly competition is healthy. Especially in Music. If anyone thinks they can top us(my school), than go ahead, I'll own you all. If nothing else, It'll have 'em practicing in no time. [Ehem!] NONE CAN TOP US! twisted

[Ehem!] NONE CAN TOP US! twisted Our school had always gotten 1st and 2nd place in Festival, last year we were over confident in our selves and got 4th. The sad part was that we went with the OrcDorks, they got 1st place. So while they were cheering we were crying. Some orcdorks believed that they were really "better then the band" but we aren't trying to see who is better IN OUR OWN SCHOOL and besdies, band is wayyy more complecated then orc.

Howard County Maryland straight up. 3nodding
we just had our ensemble festival. there were 10 -12 saxophones playing 'Spiritual Contrasts'. the song starts out really pretty and slow, an old hymn called ' Just a closer walk with thee' and then it switches really quick into 'he's got the whole world in his hands'. playing the Baritone sax, I didn't havea great part in the song, sweatdrop but we had a good bassline. we practiced twice in the auditorium without a conductor and it went well, and when we got to the room I was so nervous! gonk we played as best we could- and unfortunately for us, we had a negative judge. he ragged on our tuning. scream OUR TUNING. scream of all things. we did the classic 123 451 655 678 878 three slow notes and then a middle G. he was all 'you guys sound good but if you could sing the notes you were trying to tune to it would be easier." scream
I almost ate him whole. he gave us a excellent out of superior.

Javinus Heh, Windy Winchester, Virginia. Yay for Shenandoah University and Conservatory! I see there are a lot of fellow Virginians, and many from Hampton Roads area. I originally come from Newport News (Bad Newz), where we sported Mr. Hargis for awhile. Seriously? Someone else from Winchester? And also SU? :O

Jersey Girl All the Way!!!! YAY!!!
oh and FYI my fresman year, my school was one of the fifteen bands that marched in Hollywood, Cali. out of over 300 applicants, got SUPERIOR ALL AROUND in a competition parade my sophomore year (drum majors, bandfront, drumline, sound, and perfomance), and my Guard won a seperate competion, and this year we are marching in thr Magic Kingdom in Disney World right before the big parade with all the Characters on all the floats. and to think the musicians total just about 90, and with the guard we're 110. We are small but mighty.
(compared to freshman year, where we had over 200)
