"But... I... well... I need to pay you back," Roger stammered out, shaking his head at the woman's offer, "I mean... I don't know if you'd understand... it's just... well... it's the only thing I really have... you know? I don't owe anyone, anything... and well... I owe you now... and... I can't just have you say nevermind... it... I... uh... it's... well... I just can't..."

Dune raised a brow thoughtfully and after a few moments she released a sound that almost resembled one of disbelief, she was giving him the opportunity to escape the wrath of a spy, thief and all around 'bad' creature and he was turning it down. In ways, she was tempted to take up his offer but in others she wasn't - under no circumstances was she going to place someone in a situation they couldn't handle, it was against everything she stood for!

"Think of it this way," She murmured slowly, not bothering to even glance at him as she began to her short 'speech', "You came down here to ask if you owed me anything, in that you revealed to me that you have respect and understand the importance of such a situation - I was beginning to doubt you had even that, in proving yourself to me I would say that we are even." She pointed out and then released a chuckle.

"Besides, I did say it before: You don't need a reason to help people, even in my line of work - although I usually do charge."

Roger shook his head, and couldn't help but laugh, and even chuckle a bit as the woman wrapped up her speach. He was smiling warmly as he looked back at her, leaning forward a little bit, looking at the woman's face, now free of the mask. He was quite entralled, seeing her chuckle, even a little. It seemed to change her completely.

"Dune... what sort of person are you, really?"

"What type of person are you?" She responded, giving a light shrug as she placed her hands upon her thighs and returned her gaze to the ceiling. She seemed to often fall silent when asked a question as though she were considering her response carefully, to ensure it hid any truths or sounded decent within her mind - either that or she really was thinking about the question presented to her and was finding difficulty in conjuring a response.

"I am a spy, a thief and a part-time assassin; if the price is right then I will do anything dark, evil and otherwise frowned upon by traditional society." She mused at last, "I have my own code of honour, my own practices and my own loving family -" She canted her head to the side and pursed her lips; yes, that sounded about right in her mind.

"I am unreadable, a dangerous thing to be to your opponents and an otherwise slippery creature who most mother's would advise their sons to avoid." She chirped at last, a smile flashing up onto her lips at the very thought of a nagging mother trying to keep her son from the wrath of one such as her, a fruitless effort for in the end curiosity always did ensnare them and lead them to her...Well, at least they had plenty of gold when they thought they could drink a girl into a stupor.

Roger shook his head slowly, "Didn't... but..." and then he remembered, he had phrased the question wrong. Well, he shrugged it off, that's what he gets for not being careful.

Regardless he smiled at her, and stated, "I am a simple person, nothing more, nothing less..." definately a shorter resume than her's, but, well, there was little more to say beyond that.

"So... um.... I know what you are... but... um... who are you?"

(( Balcony => Main Hall ))
-----------------------------------

Daniel padded quietly down the stairs, pausing at the bottom. Sitting on the last step, he put his elbows on his knees and his chin in his hands. He didn't want to intrude, but then, he didn't want to seem eavesdropping... He ran a hand back through his brown hair, strengthening the appearance of harmlessness, and rolled his sleeves down. His arms were the worst; there was only one scar on his face, four thin parallel lines across his left cheek, hardly visible in most lights. But that's what comes from fighting the Felus assassins.

Shifting slightly in his seat, he was not surprised to notice that the masked woman was there, though she no longer wore the mask. Curious. She still smelt slightly of anger, but it was calming; difficult to tell with the miasma of blood masking his nostrils still. He stayed just where he was, not quite sure what to do next.

"I am Dune." She responded simply, "I am who I am and always will be -" She couldn't define who she was to someone else, she lacked the ability to for she was no great philosopher who seemed to have the answer to everything up his sleeve - rather, she allowed her gaze to flick towards the being on the stairs and she grimaced; he had been on the balcony with the others - in fact, it was he who had brought them up there in the first place was it not?

"Are you going to sit over there like a recluse all day or are you going to be more sociable?" She enquired at last. Well, if she was going to have to deal with another one being close enough to listen in to their conversations then she might as well alow him to join in, there was nothing that she would say in front of him that she wouldn't say in front of Roger anyway - in essence she didn't even know either of them anyway...

Roger couldn't help but smile at the answer. It wasn't really all he could have hoped for, but at least it was a good answer, rather than the typical list of hobbies, or work related bunk he got with that question. He was about to ask another, when Dune spoke, and invited someone over...

The man flinched visably, his head turning to left slowly, until his eyes spotted the figure, with a look of apprehension. His body shifted, and the man seemed ready to bolt in an instant.

"Just attempting to be polite, my lady," rejoined the lanky man, getting to his feet and stepping over the blue carpet to where the other two watched impassively. "Obviously I failed. I apologise." He nodded to the other man. "Are you injured badly? There is blood..."

Instead of taking a seat he sat on the floor, semi-crosslegged with one leg stretched out in front. The floor was always much more comfortable to lie upon.

The man frowned slightly, his left hand reaching up, cupping his ear, which suddenly flared up. Slowly the man inched away from him, and closer to Dune, oddly enough. His frown was deepening, "I'm fine..." he muttered, a bit darker and harder than he usually talked.

"I wouldn't worry about courtesy, considering the unbelievable amount of people who decided to interrupt my conversations today I have very little hope for any of those who lurk here." She murmured, obviously referring to all those who had suddenly sprouted onto the balcony when she had fled up there to receive sanctuary from those who she failed to recognise in anyway.

"And what is wrong with you?" She enquired as she glanced towards Roger without turning her head in his direction, his change in tone hadn't startled her but it had caused her to raise a brow in some form of amusement - it seemed that on some occasions he did suddenly generate a back bone, in ways she wished her could keep it.

Roger shook his head, "Strange place," he muttered, to himself or to Dune, it was quite hard to tell, but his voice didn't carry far, and would be hard pressed to be understood by the newcomer, without reading his lips. "Strange people. Special people... and... I've got a bad feeling about this..."

Daniel shrugged lightly. "I don't understand how there are so many people either. When I arrived, it surprised me that there was one other here, considering the remoteness of this location. And I always try to polite, even when I fail."
He tilted his head to the side. "My pardon. I fail also to introduce myself." He paused a moment, pondering whether to say his full name. No - that was foolish. He could trust no-one, not really. He smiled a little as he remembered how he had immediately trusted his Kelinor, stopping to pick her from the street instead of leaving her to bleed to death or worse. Shaking his head slightly he continued.
"I'm Daniel, from Barton. Though many are from there..."

Dune simply chuckled at Roger's discomfort, he seemed to be more spooked than she was on occasions (or perhaps it was because she could hide her fear) and after a few moments she gave a nod of acknowledgement towards Daniel to show that she had taken note of his name and would make sure not to forget it, "They call me Dune," She murmured, although she was sure he had already heard her name when he walked down the stairs.

"Currently situated in Durem," She added, refraining from delving any further into her location as she by no means had any intentions of allowing anyone to intrude upon her home or the home of her people. Yes, right now she was craving for the embrace of such a sanctuary but eventually she would endure - this place was becoming crowded and the 'peace' disrupted, perhaps she would head back to one of the cities to clear her head for a bit...

"A pleasure, Dune, and...." He looked around at the suspicious man and grinned, revealing slightly sharper than normal teeth. "An odd assortment of people we find in this remote place.." He continued self-depreciatingly. "Myself at least. Now if only I knew why..."

He'd not heard enough of the conversation upstairs to realise anything except that the crytal was key. He had to discover more...
