[Ernie] I was raised a Lutheran, got confirmed and all that (almost a year ago, actually), but I'm really an athiest. My parents don't know, and won't for some time, or else they'll probably have a nervous breakdown or something. Last year prior to my confirmation I was having serious doubts, and when I finally told them (because said doubts had been nagging me for several years, but I wasn't forced to face them until I had to start preparing for my confirmation) about it, they got all dissapointed and my mom was temporarily depressed. Apparently, it's okay for anyone except their own daughter to have a religion (or lack thereof, in my case) other than their own. OMG. I know you!

I'm not sure how I would describe my beliefs, seeing as how I don't really belong to any particular set. But I've been studying and strongly follow the basic principles of Earth religions. You could say eclectic pagan, but I'm not sure that would be right even.
My parents were raised christian, but it does'nt seem they ever wanted much to do with it because I was never pushed into a religion. When I was younger my brother and I would go to church of our own free will, but my parents never went with us, they only took us. First it was Baptist, then Methodist. I was'nt really liking either one, but I was also pretty young then. By the time I got into high school, maybe 9th grade; I stopped going to church and started researching religions on my own. I was introduced to Druidism by a close friend of mine, and I've been studying it ever since, but I've also been studying other philosophies classified as Pagan or Earth religions.

Judaism shouldn't be there...it's now redundant considering it's Abrahamic.

MipsyKitten Eshmasesh But then...what are all the pro-choice Scientologists going to put? sad ...I'm hoping there aren't any. I've done some research on Scientology, and have come to the conclusion that it's nothing but, a dangerous cult started by someone who used to write 'sci-fi' novels. It's a fad that will die out soon, as today's youth see it for what it is - bullshit. Normally I won't say this about someone's religious beliefs, but this is just common sense. From what I've seen, the fad is more about making fun of Scientology. Scientology, LOL.

Faeyas So everyone one is aware I NEVER Considered pagan a cult, it was probably a lapse in better judgement. I hope the new poll is more decently correct? It's ok. Paganism is one subject that I find myself correcting people on the most. It awakens the sleeping beast within, just like abortion 3nodding

I don't have a religion, but I'm not Atheist. I just choose not to affiliate myself with any religion because I am against organized religion in general. However, I think it is very important for people to have beliefs that they have dived into their own hearts to discover and believe because it feels right and makes them happy. I have nothing against anyone else's beliefs, even if they're clearly wrong; if someone believes in something that makes him or her happy, it's not my place to judge them.
As for my beliefs, they're all original to my life and experiences. They are ideas I have obtained through strife, joy, and adversity, and I treasure them. Some of my beliefs overlap with other religions of course, but this was unintentional. I consider myself spiritual but not religious.

Funny how I find the idea of voting as being part of an Abrahamic religion a little odd. I usually class myself as CofE... but I'm not really... the whole religion being based on some very bad ((or should I say greedy?)) decisions on the part of Henry VIII and later on some very politically astutue decisions on the part of Elizabeth I. I think I'm just gonna vote "Other."
Most Christians count me as a very lazy Christian. I like to think of myself as a free thinking follower of Christ's words. However I can't bring myself to vote in "Abrahamic Religions" as I don't believe in a word of the Old Testament, not as fact anyway. As metaphor, allegory and parable... yes. It was a good guide to a morally acceptable, healthy and fulfilling life... several thousand years ago. Beside's so much of it can be found in other ancient writings and myths; Babylonian, Assyrian, Greek.
Of course there are also arguments for much of the New Testament and other writings from the first few centuries AD being based on other, older, non Judeo-christian texts, especially Egyptian myths. Ra turned water into wine in one interpretation. Then there's the whole Mithras thing you could go into...
But I wont... cos I realised I'm just rambling...
