Obie stopped short when he did and tried to read the expression on his face. What had she said to upset him so much? She remained rooted to where she stood as he abruptly turned and started to walk back towards the school. She was just stunned by his behavior.
"Ra... Rashne," she said, chasing after him and reaching out to grab his arm. "What's wrong? What did I say to upset you?" she asked.

Ra stopped for a moment. He knew he was acting like an idiot but it was an irrational fear. Nearly all of his female friends knew Jun in one form or another his dislike was almost like a fear of losing them to him. He was obviously a much nicer guy than Ra himself was. He dreaded the moment when Chii would meet up with him again and realise what she could have had.
"Nothing." He said looking off into the distance. After a few moments he looked back down into her eyes and sighed. "Jun, it's a long story though and will make me sound like a moron." He shrugged and smiled a little. "You really don't want to know ... unless he mentioned it."

Obie blinked at the avoidance answer he first tossed her way and tilted her head to the side, her long hair spilling over her shoulder as she waited for him to continue. There was no way she was going to let him get by with a cop out answer like that.
"Um... I can't say that you came up really. He and I just chit-chatted. But you do realize that you now have to explain it to me or I'll go crazy trying to figure it out," she smirked lightly as she held his eyes with hers.

Ra sighed and shoved his hands into his pockets again.
"No, it really is irrational." He said looking past her and out over the fields. He stood in silence for a few moments before caving a little. "Ugh, you really aren't going to let it slide are you?" He said looking down at her. "Back last year, Chii and I met and became really good friends blah blah, we kissed and she ignored me. I asked her why and it turns out she was semi interested in this other guy and he was really into her too. So being the loser I am I convinced her that as this guy had effectively dissazpeared off the radar then we were o.k to date." He took a breath, it really was quite the saga.
"So then he comes back and wants to continue his interest, she flaked out on me again, discussion, we decide we are an item blah blah ... the end. I'm totally nervous about running into him too often and I worry that if my friends are also his friends then, well," He sighed and kicked the gravel a little. "I don't know. It's silly but I suppose I'm jealous because I know he's a better person at the end of the day and I should have left things alone."

Obie crossed her arms over her chest and kept her eyes stubbornly on his until he finally caved. She listened to explanation carefully. When he was finished she nodded her head slightly, then reached up and smacked him on the arm.
"You wanna know what that was for? I'll tell you. You're not a loser and you're not a better or worse person than him. You had better stop being so hard on yourself or I'm going to start believeing that everything you ever told me about myself was just a lie to make me feel better for the moment," she said, keeping her eyes on his. She held his grey ones with her blues for a moment, then allowed the stubborn expression on her face to melt into a smirk.
"Now... I'll give some more useful advice," she said and glanced off to the side so she could think on what she wanted to say to him. Taking a deep breath, she looked back up at him with a much softer expression in her eyes than she had had before. "Look... Ra, nothing I tell you is going to make this irrational fear of yours go away. But I'm sure you knew that already. But you've got to have some faith in people." Hm... that sounded a bit familiar. "You've got to give them a chance. Besides... it's not like it's a competition between the two of you and I think you might be taking it a bit more personally than he is." She paused and searched his eyes for a moment before she decided to continue with the next part of her speech.
"Look... I don't know Chii. I've never met her, or if I have I can't even remember. But from what you've told me today about her... it just sounds like you have put so much into this relationship trying to make it work. In the end... I believe you're going to end up getting very hurt," she said softly, dropping her eyes down to the ground. That was just like what she had done to Nato. Nato hadn't deserved it and Ra sure as hell didn't.

"Fine." He said watching her and listening to her. "But what am I supposed to do? She's got problems that she's obviously trying to deal with. I can't write her a letter and say, ' you know what, this isn't working, I think we should go our seperate ways.'" He kicked a big stone so it skidded across the path and hit a tree. "I hate this constant depression I'm stuck in Obie, it hurts so much. I walk around being a royal pain in the a** and I just can't be happy. I try for a while but then it all falls to pieces and I end up like this. A mess. I mean I know I have medical issues, but it's never been like this."

She looked back up at him and honestly didn't have an answer for him. She felt for him. Truly and honestly felt for him though. Acting on instict, but not sure if it would be welcomed or not, she closed the space between them and wrapped her arms around him tightly. She kept her head pressed against his shoulder just a moment longer than she had intended, then pulled away and looked back up into his eyes.
"I know that doesn't really help solve anything, but you really looked like you could use one," she smiled softly, a light blush creeping over her cheeks as she prayed she hadn't upset him more.

Ra wasn't as suprised by her hug as he thought he would be. In fact he returned it. Yes it didn't solve a thing but it felt good. As she pulled a way he let his hands drop to his side and watched her carefully.
"Thank you Obie." He said with a small smile. "I did need one. Which again is rather sad." He gave her a slightly larger smile and started back off up the track. "You smell good." He said looking back over his shoulder with a random smirk. That was that until he had another girly breakdown.

Obie arched a brow when he still came down hard on himself yet again. Then she smiled at his random compliment.
"Thank you," she said, hurrying to catch up and fall in step beside him again. "Please stop being so hard on yourself," she said softly, as she looked out over the fields. Chewing on the inside of her lip, she looked back up at him with a small smile. "It's only fair. You made me stop being so hard on myself."

Ra turned to walk backwards and smirked at her.
"Oh so we have to play it like that do we?" He asked as he slowed so as not to fall. "Fair enough. I'll stop, or at least try to. You have permission to slap me each time I do it."

"Deal," she smirked, slowing her pace to match his. "Not that I think you would have a choice. I think I would have done it with or without your permission. You seem to be of the hard headed variety and sometimes the only way to get a point across to you is to beat it into you." She fell silent and watched him for a moment, then smirked slightly. "You're going to fall you know."

Ra smirked and sped up a little.
"Am not." He said with a grin as he narrowly missed a large stone in the road. It really was a shame that he didn't listen to Obie who tended to be right.
He didn't notice the sudden turn in the road and soon found himself falling backwards into a dry, dusty rice field. He landed with a thud and a huge cloud of dust.
"That was embarrasing." He mumbled as the dust settled around him.

"Uh... Ra..." she started to say when she realized that he hadn't bothered to look behind him and see that the road turned off. As soon as he started falling, she winced and tried not to laugh at the same time. Managing to quickly recover her composure, she hurried forward to stand over him. Okay... she really couldn't help it.
"I told you so," she smirked and reached out a hand to help him back up to his feet. "You're lucky you know. You could have ended up taking a bath just now."

"At least that would have been refreshing." He smirked taking her hand and yanking her down into the dusty earth as he stood up.
"Haha." He laughed loudly as he started to brush the dust off his jeans. "Not so smug now."

"Hey!" she cried out as she fell to the ground, sending up her own plume of dust. Coughing a little as some of the dirt got into her mouth, she pushed herself up and tossed her hair over her shoulder and out of her eyes so she could shoot him her best death glare. Looking away, she pushed herself all the way up, spitting the dirt out in a very unladylike manner. At the moment... she really could care less.
"Ugh... and you had to do that while I was wearing a white shirt?" she smirked and arched a brow as she rose to her feet, attempting to dust herself off.
