An adult black wolf wandered through the barren pack lands. As heir it was his duty to help his father, brother and mother protect their lands. he was sad to see raven leave, but through gossip heard she faired well with her mate. She was the intended for his brother and his baby sitter when they were younger. Pushing the unfortunate thoughts aside he continued patrolling. Being born and raised here he was quite accustomed to the heat on his black and white fur. Food as usual was difficult unless you knew exactly were to look. His father and mother had shown him some hidden areas were most of their food hid and thought it to be safe. He had hunted before leaving.

An unfamiliar sent alerted Orion from these thoughts. An intruder was in his father's pack lands. He growled slightly as his eyes began scanning back and forth for the wandering wolf.

A white, gray streak caught his sharp brown eyes. The heir began a hastened walk toward the new intruding wolf. Who could it be? Orion did wonder but briefly. It could be another wolf wishing to join their pack; in that case he would have to speak with his father and mother. If it were a wolf with a more dangerous agenda… well… it would be chased off without a second thought.

Either way Orion closed in on the white, gray wolf.

Orion getting closer noticed it was a female wolf and judging by the smell of blood she managed to catch something. Orion swiftly circled around the femme and appeared behind her.

"What brings you here?" he inquired of the new wolf placing his wite tipped paw foreward. Flicking his long bushy tail he stood with pride.

Orion noticed the signal not to fight and he relaxed a bit. The heir gave a nod. "These are the barren pack lands." He told her he she didn't already know. "You may join this pack if you wish, but I am not the one you talk to." he motioned to the mountains and forested area deeper inward.

"Whats your name?" he then asked "I am Orion heir of the barren pack."

"You should speak to my father Tsume or my mother Zhas." he told her, although his father was the one who mainly handled new arrivals. His mother handled other things.

That’s a nice name. He thought briefly. Orion noticed her nervousness "My father doesn't refuse newcomers." he told Raevyn with a kind smile "Would you like to join this pack Raevyn?" he asked the she wolf.

Orion nodded "Of course then." he allowed himself to soften, "Follow me then." he told Raevyn walking in front of her. He was going to take her to his parents and have her join his father's pack. She was a decent hunter as well. Another hunter would be good on top of that.

Unbeknownst to his brother, Shikon was busy hunting nearby. He had caught sight of a rabbit hole and was now attempting to make the entrance bigger so that he can catch the defenseless rabbit easier. He caught the scent of his brother and an unknown femme as he finished making the hole entrance a little bigger. Lifting his dusty head up, he gazed around and spotted Orion with a femme. Suddenly jealous of his brother finding a supposed mate, he pinned his ears back against his skull. "Who is that?" he asked Orion, his voice holding a hint of bitterness.

Raevyn backed away slightly a paw slightly lifted from the ground. Two member of the barrens pack, both brother who barely looked anything a like and already she felt unwanted from the type of tone he had used. She stood without saying a word unsure of what to say.

The wolf didn't push his question.

Orion returned his brothers nod with one. At least Shikon had calmed some it seemed. He listened and acknowledged his brothers words. "I see." he said. Orion had known for a while father had been lost in thoughts as it were lately. Perhaps mother had gone to see him. If so he shouldn't go looking for them.

"Thank you brother." The black and white wolf said. Orion gave a shake of his head; Shikon looked more like he was scrutinizing her. It must make her rather uncomfortable he thought.
