Ah. Just wondering. I must look that up, because in many texts I've looked in, the footnotes for the passage specifically stating homosexuality is a sin had some disclaimers on how it could be disputed... ::shrugs::

Famusamu. I have to say that many of your posts have been rather disturbing to me. Quite frankly, all the extra capital letters and stuff? It just makes me think of evangelical Christians. And I'm in the Jew Guild, damnit! Too much of what you're saying sounds like evangelical traditional Judaism. Which is just scary.
Well, both are quite possible because although I am not here to evanglize, I am a Messianic. I joined this guild not to "convert" people, but to speak with other Jews about Jewish issues that no goy could understand. If I have offended you, I am truly sorry. And by the way, whats wrong with "evangelical traditional Judaism"?

Dude. We discourage conversion! Being evangelical is just, like, not Jewish at all! I mean, come on, people come to us to convert and they're told 'no' the first two times!

I think that everyone should be allowed to practice judaism, and yes, to be a rabbi. No matter who you are, you should be allowed into our faith, so long as you can follow basic rules like kosher and observing the high holy days. And especially if people are willing to fight for their right to be a jew, than they should be welcomed with open arms. Hey, we're not catholics.

Sorry but your 100% wrong, once your a jew you can't decide to keep "most thing" and dispense with what you dislike. I understand that its a weird concept taking the good with the bad but thats what being jewish is. its irrelevant if your willing to fight for it, better for a non jew to keep the Noachide laws then to become jewish and keep only the big things.

But you aren't even keeping all the laws. You're online on Shabbas. That means you're using electricity, which the rabbis have included in fire, which means no Gaia on Shabbas. I mean, I do the same, but don't say that we have to follow every law to the letter of the law if you aren't doing so. That's just hypocritical.

Scion, you are being an absolute moron and I'd sincerely hope you know it. "You don't deserve to be a Jew if you don't follow every law?" No one follows every law, buddy, especially not you.

My aunt's a lesbian Rabbi.
She seems to do a fine job at being a Rabbi.
Oy vey a woman Rabbi! I never knew that G-d said to Moishe: "Speak to the daughters of Ahron...." rolleyes Not to sound sexist, but Adonai set aside certain rolls for men and women, women should not be Rebbes.

So Mankov, your aunt is a "reform" huh?

Reconstructionist, actually.

I know that's a delayed response, but...yeah, it's been a while since I've been on Gaia.

If you don't think women should be Rabbis, avoid congregations with female Rabbis.
I don't like any endorsement of sexism--this includes religious endorsement

Also, I'm thinking it's bad manners to say that anyone who has devoted enough of their life to a faith to become a leader in said faith that they've done the wrong thing. Her congregation is very happy with her-and since they're the ones who deal with her, your opinion doesn't really count for much here.

I allready respnded, I know I don't I know I don't strive to, but it annoys me when people rationalise that what they are doing is ok. Its not ok.

Okay, so, if it's not okay to be online on Shabbas, but you do it anyway, and it's also not okay to be homosexual, and it's also not okay for a female to be a rabbi, why should your breaking of the rules be condoned, but nobody else's?

It is perfectly okay to live your life as Jewish as you are comfortable with. It's what you're doing too, even if you continuously state the fact that you know it's not completely correct by the Torah. You think female rabbis or people who work on Shabbos are running around saying, "The Torah said it was okay?"

My breaking the rules shouldn't be condoned. THanks to my upbringing and my knowledge in cojunction with my actions I suffer from depression. You wanted to know the accurate answer right? I gave it to you. you can accept it or say haha hes stupid and pretend Idon't exist.
