At that particular moment in time, Kiro was in the middle of breaking up a fight of sorts. Tsukai, as Kiro had already discovered, was of a certain disposition to poke things. Hope, as Kiro had soon found out, took displeasure to being poked. Namely her fluffy tail, which Tsu had decided needed exploring.

So the neko-jin was grateful, if not a little surprised, to hear the knock on his door. He quickly pushed them apart, sliding Hope a little along the floor with a hand, and scooping Tsu up in a firm grip. "Come on guys," he murmured irritably. "Break it up already..."

Maybe it was his tone of voice, Tsu instantly wriggled out of his guardian's hand and hopped up onto his shoulder. Hope made a sort of mewling noise, and crouched close to the ground, a gesture Kiro had taken to mean apology, or at least submission.

Finally, he stood up and moved towards the door, opening it and hesitating suddenly at the sight of Alyosha. He hadn't seen the elder for quite some time.

"Hi," he said articulately, obviously going back to his uncertain 'rabbit in headlights' persona for a moment.

Alyosha gave the boy a slightly crooked smile, hoping that he was not reverting to his quiet self. From what he'd heard Kiro was becoming almost sociable... who'd have thought. He grinned silently to himself as he gave Kiro a brief nod.

"I'm here on some business, Kiro, I have a little something for you and Tsu. " he paused and held the object forward, wanting to get to the heart of the matter with little preamble. The boy seemed to respond well to being given something to think about, too.

"It's, ah.. an artifact" he said by way of explanation.

Frowning a little, and forgetting his nervousness, Kiro reached forward and took the object from Alyosha. He could feel Tsu reaching his beak out towards it, as though trying to poke at it without leaving Kiro's shoulder.

He held it towards the inquisitive creature, amused by the fact the Aerandir still felt suitably shamefaced to stay on his shoulder. "Looks like... part of a quill pen maybe...?" he commented thoughtfully, tilting his head to better watch Tsu tap at it curiously.

The next stage!

Alyosha nodded slightly at Kiro's guess "Yes a qui..."

As Tsu tapped the object, he began to change. It spread from his beak, up over his arms, paws, wings to the tip of his tail. He became a bluish hue, then slowly began to loose substance, becoming ethereal. The now slightly larger Tsu was sitting partways through Anakiro's shoulder instead of on it.

"Ah.. well, it appears it did work" He smiled towards Kiro, searching for a list in his pockets. "You do know the particulars about the wisp stage and the need for other items and the like, yes?" Alyosha proffered a list with a number of decidely odd items in it.

(( biggrin In order for Tsukai to progress beyond the wisp stage, I'd like you to collect the following items and bring them to me:

Tsukai:
1 feather from Rahujo
3 strips of leather
1 woven piece of cloth
Some mixed beads
A small jingle bell
A small ribbon

You may get these by buying them from minishops, from other people drawing or creating them for you, or by drawing, creating or photographing them yourself (although no more than one item should be supplied by yourself.)
Tsukai should stay close to his bonded object at all times and should not be able to speak much or touch things while he is in this form. ))

Whoowhoowhoo falling... no... wait... Tsu paused for a moment before floating away from Kiro a little and looking at him. Oh God!! What was happening?! Seeming utterly petrified in his new form, the Aerandir zipped towards Kiro, managing to scoot right through his guardian's head. Eek!!

Kiro was simply speechless for several long moments. He watched Tsu zip away, then turning to look at him as the wisp flew right through his head. Forgetting Alyosha for a moment, and still holding the quill-part in his fingers, Kiro raised his hands in a shushing motion. "Tsu...! Tsu calm down, calm down... Sssshhh..." Eventually Kiro's ploy seemed to work, as Tsu floated down to hover in front of him, the wisp's face still a picture of worry. He didn't like this one little bit... He liked his feet... and his tail and his beak, and and... gah...! He couldn't bounce like this!

Sighing quietly, Kiro turned back to Alyosha apologetically, before nodding gently and taking the list from him, glancing at it and able to feel Tsu looking at it too - though what was on it was obviously lost to the upset Aerandir. "Yeah, I think so..."

Alyosha had seen troubled wisps and unsettled ones but never one so frought. "Poor Tsu.." he murmered under his breath, hoping that the little aerandir, still little even as a wisp, would be allright in what was obviously an unsettling time.

"If you need my help..." he said to Kiro, trailing off. The young neko-jin knew where he resided, knew his door was open - he'd offered several times before now. "Maybe reading him some stories would settle him a little?" he said quietly, stepping back a little "given his job and all. I've known others to be more settled when pre-occupied by their er 'jobs'." There was little else he could do, right now. The wisps always made him feel so.. helpless.

Kiro nodded slightly, forcing himself not to reach to his shoulder to stroke Tsu. It had become a habit he was going to have to get out of.

"Yeah, that sounds like a plan." He turned his head a little to glance at Tsu, who was hiding fretfully at Kiro's shoulder. Maybe this would go away... Maybe he was just sick... Maybe maybe maybe... "What d'you think Tsu? Reading?"

The tone of Kiro's voice was gentle and reassuring, and Tsu obviously took this on board, raising a little higher and looking a little hopeful. The Aerandir paused then, glancing at Aly, before closing his eyes and barreling away from Kiro to zip around the other bravely, before coming back to Kiro's shoulder. He then watched Aly with large eyes, not really sure why he'd done it - but feeling better for it.

Kiro smiled a little. "He'll be okay... reading usually calms him down anyway." He paused, before adding. "Thanks."

He gave what he hoped would be a comfortin smile to Tsu. "A story, that sounds good, doesn't it Tsu ?" he said, calmly but with enthusiasm. Children were not as immune to adults when it came to passing on enthusiasm.

"I guess I'll head back, let you get on." he said to Kiro, moving down the corridor. "If you need some new storybooks swing by later, I'll look some out for you both" he called over his shoulder, dissapearing round the corner.

Quietly, Kiro watched Alyosha retreat down the corridor. He then turned to Tsu. "Come on, kiddo..." he murmured, stepping through the doorway and beckoning Tsu to do the same. "Time for a story and some calming down for you, huh?"

Looking miserable, Tsu floated along after Kiro, making sure to dodge the door. He thought he might have been able to float straight through it... but that unnerved him too. So he wasn't going to try.

He hoped he was going to get better soon...

Tsukai, by the next morning, still wasn't feeling too good about his newly-found appearance. He'd flitted around the room all night, restlessly floating around different objects as they took his interest. Kiro had stayed up as well, watching the poor thing float around aimlessly. To begin with, he'd pulled out one of the books to read. This ploy had worked for a while, but Kiro could tell after an hour or two he was losing the wisp's attention, and given it up for a lost cause.

So the next step was to start talking. The neko-jin wasn't really sure what he had even said that night. He'd just talked and talked in the hope that his voice might convey something.

It had, however, seemed to have had a positive impact on the worried creature. Tsu was seeming a lot less frantic as the morning came around, now just floating and skittering around as though looking for something to do. And so, out came the storybook again, Tsu floating as close to Kiro's shoulder as he could get, watching the book his guardian was reading from.

Eventually Kiro finished the particular story he had been reading, and closed the book quietly. He turned to look at Tsu, dismayed at how subdued the wisp still looked. "Okay Tsu... You and I need to have a talk..." he murmured, still unsure how much Tsu even understood. He leaned against the desk with an elbow, thoughtfully supporting his head with that hand. "This," he indicated Tsu's ghost-like state with his free hand. "This isn't permenant, okay? You're growing up... You don't need to worry about it so much." He sighed a little as Tsu still looked fretful. But he was obviously paying attention, so Kiro continued. He reached to the list they had been given and pulled it across. "See these things here? Once we get all of these things, then you can grow up a bit more, okay? But I need you to cheer up a little for me." He paused before adding. "You're making me sad too..."

As always, the tone of Kiro's voice seemed to have an impact on his small charge. Tsu's expression changed as he tilted his head, now looking concerned. He circled Kiro a few times, his large eyes watching the neko-jin. So... Kiro seemed to be... implying this wasn't as bad a thing as Tsu thought it was. But Kiro sounded sad too... So... umm... Tsu continued circling Kiro for a little longer, before coming to a halt in front of him. Hmm... This required thought... But for the moment...

"That's right..." said Kiro, watching Tsu brave a smile. "It's not as bad as you're making out. I mean, it probably feels really strange, but it's not all that bad... I mean, you can go through things now right? How fun must that be?" Kiro smiled back at Tsu, before reaching for the book again. "Okay, now that we understand each other... where were we?"

Some excting things have happened since I last wrote in here. Tsu's moved on to his next stage, he's got a ghost-like form that they call a 'wisp'. And he's not liking it one little bit. But I think he's getting used to it - the trick is to distract him. Which is what I've been doing since it happened, not had a lot of time to write things down.

Right now he's roaming around the room looking for things on the list Alyosha gave us. I don't know why, I can't think why we'd really have anything on it. But it's keeping him occupied, so it's a good thing I guess.

Kiro glanced over at Tsu and watched him weaving around. The wisp was still reluctant to actually go through things, despite Kiro's uninformed assurances that it'd be fun.

Poke poke pokity. Hmm... Lots of stuff that couldn't be for any use at all. Curiously Tsu floated around to the back of the desk, peering into the drawers through the back. Ho hum... what was this in here? The small plastic jar seemed to hold some curvey things in it. Though Tsu couldn't really be sure. Better get the Kiro-shaped one to open it and see!! Happily he floated over the top of the desk and began to indicate the drawer as best he could, weaving around Kiro and then back to the drawer insistantly.

"You want me to open the drawer...?" A little curious, Kiro bent down and pulled open the drawer. A scattering of papers lay inside as the boy shuffled them around. He wasn't, perhaps, one of the most organised people he'd ever met. He could feel Tsu watching him over his shoulder intently. The little Aerandir knew there was something in there.

And lo and behold, Kiro felt his hand grasp something. It seemed flimsy and plastic-like, and so he drew it out carefully. He held in his hand a small plastic container full of beads and small stones.

For a second the neko-jin just stared at it. Why the Hell did he have a box of beads? He didn't remember bringing them with him. The only person he could think of was Kandera... had she slipped them in before he'd left? It would be just like her he supposed. But it also showed how much attention he'd payed when he'd been unpacking...

"Well Tsu," he said, putting the beads on the desk. "You now have some 'mixed beads'. How about we go put a notice up on the board soon?"

Tsukai, enthused by the idea of collecting things quickly, floated around Kiro's head in agreement.

"Speaking of notices..." Absently Kiro tipped out the contents on the plastic jar onto his desk and sifted through the contents. "I'm sure Taranis needs some beads too... and Delta needs..." Kiro sifted a little more before pulling out two sizable square-ish gemstones. "Some of these."

Happy he'd found something to speed the process, Tsu zipped around a little. It was strange that Tsu was being so quiet, thought Kiro as he watched the small creature, but then a lot of things were strange right now he supposed.

Well, it seems Tsu has finally settled down about this whole 'growing up' idea. Luckily we caught up with Ieyasu and Osu last night - I swear to you, Osu must be enthusiasm on legs! And it's infectious, so now Tsu's a little more content. He's still misgiving about it, more nervous than I'm used to him being, but that'll improve given time.

Kiro turned from the journal entry to find out what Tsu was doing. The wisp was floating around Hope by this point, murbling to her enthusiastically and getting confused mews in response. They were amusing to watch together, and again, Kiro was glad Hope had turned up.

He stood up then, intending to go see if there was any post - returning a few seconds later. He glanced towards the wisp. "Tsu, I think you might want to see this..."

The simple, albeit a bit lumpy, white envelope, adressed to Anakiro with the return adress rooted in Setone, held only two items. When opened and tilted to the side the heavier of the objects immediately falls out towards where a waiting hand will, hopefully, be, jingling slightly as it does, grass rope following it through the air. It is closely followed by a letter.
The letter
Hello Anakiro!

I doubt you remember me, but I believe we might have met breifly at the Summer Festival? At the very least your name seems very familar. Anyway, I recently noticed your letter that was pinned up in the Lodge and happened to have a jingly bell hanging around. I hope it'll be useful in helping your Tsukai.

"Wow," the neko-jin murmured as he held the bell up by the string. "I didn't expect anyone to send something to someone they don't know... and so fast too..." He held it out so Tsukai could see it, jingling it a little as he did so. "You remember at the fesitval Tsu? They were there, they live on the other island." A nod and a quiet murble of agreement.

Smiling widely, Kiro set the bell down on the desk next to the half-empty jar of beads. "So, that's two down..." He paused. "We should probably write her a letter to say thank you, huh?" Another nod and a murble, the little wisp almost beside himself as he floated over the bell and was trying to grab at it. But..he...just ...couldn't quite... touch it...! Gah!! Eventually he gave up on his efforts and looked up at Kiro hopefully. This prompted the neko-jin to smile, and reach out to jingle it again. "Like that?"

An excited nod came in reply, the little wisp's hands balled up near his chin excitedly. Yes, yes, just like that!! It made such a fun, jingly sound when he did that to it!!

It wasn't like the terrible twosome had been out long. It had been a "let's go out because the weather's nice" affair. And they returned to find...

F a t e
Pinned upon Anakiro's door with a peice of tape was a small ribbon with a faded design and note:

From Fae and Pueblo
Dear Kiro and Tsu-

I heard about Tsukai's wisp stage! Congrats! I wish we could of been there to see it... well it doesn't look like you're in right now, so I thought I'd leave you this ribbon in case it would help you out.

Hope to see you soon,
Fae + Pueblo

User Image

His eyes a little wide, Kiro reached up and pulled the ribbon carefully off the door, easing the tape from it as he did so. "You've got ribbon Tsu!" he said, pushing the door open with one hand, the other showing the wisp the ribbon. "Only a few more things left to get!"

Cheerily, Tsu floated closer to examine the gift, peering at it. He also made an unsuccessful attampt at poking it, but his little hand went right through it.

Not for long though!

The best things always seemed to happen when they weren't around, Kiro reflected as he and Tsukai returned to the Centre. Yet again it had been another 'nice day walking' affair, and yet again they'd missed some kind soul with something else to help Tsukai grow a little more.

Yakobi

The young Aerandir ran along the dirst path, kicking up dust as he ran. In his hand a letter was cluthed tightly. Skidding to a stop Taranis looked around, aha there was the center. The boy had been instructed to deliver a letter to some Kiro guy, the name had sounded somewhat farmiliar to him. He pushed his way into the center and found his way to the door he was told Kiro lived. Raising a hand he knocked on the door "Oi! Hello?" he called out getting no answer. Placing the note down infront of the door Taranis walked out of the center and back home.

The Letter
Hey Kiro!

Thanks so much for the beads, they really helped. Anyways I saw your note in the center and I happened to have some pieces of leather laying around. I hope they help.

- Yakobi & Taranis

Kiro crouched down to pick up the small message, a grin splitting his face as he realised he had three pieces of leather in his hand. He laughed quietly as Tsu seemed to realise it too, zipping happily around his guardian. "Almost there kiddo," he confirmed as he opened the door. "Almost there."

I think Tsu's finally settling down to the idea of being a wisp. This is definately a good thing, he's starting to even enjoy it a little. He actually floated through something deliberately this morning, giving me a shock as he popped up through the desk.

Hope's also been finding the wisp stage a little confusing. She's been used to a beak harrassing her day and night, and there's not been one for a long while now. I'm not sure if she understands that the wisp is actually Tsu. She's taken to following Tsu around quite a lot. In fact, she reminds me a little of how Tsu used to act around wisps. Following them around. I've even seen Hope try to bat at him a few times - obviously with unsuccessful results.

We've only got two more things left to collect from the list, I think we've made reasonably good time on it. I'm amazed how quickly and readily people have responded to Tsu's quest, but then I suppose it makes sense. On a small island of around a dozen people, the community helps each other out.

Kiro grinned a little. They were so close. And Tsu was happier about the whole situation, he'd been playing with some of the other Aerandir during his wisp stage and seemed to have gotten more at ease with it. Kiro only hoped he went back to how he was as a gryphon, he kind of missed that Tsu. But, of course he would. He was reverting back even now. It had just been a big scare for the little guy.

Absently the neko-jin turned to where Hope and Tsu were having a sort of face-off. Hope was crouched low, wiggling her bum high in the air, her tail wafting like a flag. Tsu was smiling a little, floating slowly this way and that as he waited for her to pounce. And suddenly she was off, paws out to try and capture the annoying creature! And he jumped right through him, coming to an ungraceful thump on the floor. Kiro shook his head goodnaturedly as he stood up to pick her up and dust her off a little, Tsu making happy murblings behind them as he floated around.

"Geez... Tsu... Stop teasing her..." reprimanded Kiro, his tone light. "And Hope, stop rising to it, okay?" He set her down carefully, then putting a hand on a hip and looking down at her in amusement. She lifted her head, her ears forward as he regarded the neko-jin for a second, before wandering over to Tsu again and batting at him a few times with a paw. Tsu weaved a little, before zipping straight through her with an amused murble.

"You two are impossible..." stated Kiro with a light chuckle. And yes, it was so true...
