She raised her free hand and with a flick of her fingers and a slight turn of her head, lifted some of the braids and stringed pearls to show him the tops of her ears. They were slightly pointed.
"Anyone with a pair of these has heard the tale, though many elves choose to never speak of it. My mother told me the story when I was younger."
Her hand lowered and she held her staff in both hands.
"I am Mercedes Angelique St. Croix- d'Aubigny. I am from the West and that is all that I will tell you on my origins for now."

Snow had reached the outside and locked his eyes on the peculiar woman. He slowly turned and lowered his head, emitting a low growl. Farren appeared soon after.
Hey Snow, what's up?
His gaze traveled from Snow to the woman he was fixated on. He raised an eyebrow and then knelt beside Snow.
What is it?
Snow never broke his gaze, but he did cease his growling. Farren rose, an apologetic look on his face.
I'm sorry about Snow, he sometimes gets things up his nose.
Hey Snow, leave the lady alone.
Snow didn't respond, remaining in a ready position with his coal-black eyes fixed on her. Farren looked at Snow again, this time his face turned to concern.
What is it?

"Hmpth..elves. Nothing but a suffocating race."
He said simply, as if some sort of nerve were touched within him. Yet, he still spoke in slightly low tones, so that no one else could at least listen in on their conversation. Unless they happened to be standing right next to them.
Like the person who had seemingly wandered in the midst of them, and with what looked like a canine of some sort...which was insitent on making motions towards Lady St. Croix.
He offered her a curious glance, his mind turning over the name, slightly interested. "I am known as Vahn LeCroix, and I am visiting the city with a fellow freind. We are on leave from our Academy in the Capitol." He said quite simply, feeling a little more less estranged in her presence.
He also kept an eye on this man and his pet, he looked like a newcomer. He had a map rolled up in his hand.

Mercedes glared at the wolf, her sparkly blue eyes turning to frigid steel in mere seconds. She looked the animal right in the eye and stared back, her smile fading into a frown of annoyance. Without looking at it's owner, she spoke.
"I don't like how your wolf is looking at me. Contain your animal please, lest I be forced to do so myself."
Then she looked back at Vahn, extending one of her hands gracefully, palm down.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. LeCroix, or may I call you Vahn?"
Her smile returned and her eyes softened a bit.

He stared for a moment, actually seeming as if he were considering, but in fact, he was trying to remember the right words.
"Aye, I fear it is my pleasure to make your aquaintance M'lady. You may call me by my first name...I never took a liking to the family name." He felt a twinge of relief, hoping he said it right, before hopping off the gate in short order, and taking her hand gently. Leaning forward, he kissed the back of it softly, before leaning back up.

Mercedes St. Croix Mercedes glared at the wolf, her sparkly blue eyes turning to frigid steel in mere seconds. She looked the animal right in the eye and stared back, her smile fading into a frown of annoyance. Without looking at it's owner, she spoke.
"I don't like how your wolf is looking at me. Contain your animal please, lest I be forced to do so myself." Listen, no disrespect, but if Snow was going to attack you he'dve done it by now. Snow, disengage. Snow slowly slinked back to a position behind Farren, eyes still fixed upon her. His eyes had a defiant, almost crusaderly glimmer in them. Farren knelt beside Snow, and physically appeared to be talking with him, though he never spoke.
Snow, what's the deal here?
I don't trust her Farren.
Any reason for it?
I smell blood.
Ok. Maybe she had to defend herself?
I don't know, but I don't trust her.
I trust your judgment Snow, but there's nothing I can do really, unless she attacks us without reason.
If I was a bird, i'd never let her out of my sight.
Thanks Snow, i'll keep it in mind.
Farren stood up and looked at the woman, an apologetic expression on his face again.Sorry about that again. Snow's a bit excitable and he's new around here. Ummm, i'm Farren Lone, in case your interested. 'Which i'm sure you aren't' was the unspoken fragment of that sentence. He felt himself trying to push her just to see how she'd react. But he fought back the urge and waited for her response.

She smiled pleasently, her even white teeth showing in a charming way.
"Very well then. Vahn it is."
She cast her eyes over to Farren and regarded him for a moment, her face expressionless. Without warning, she smirked.
"Well met, sort of, Mr. Lone," she said," If you didn't catch my name earlier, I am Mercedes St. Croix. And I am interested in meeting new people. That is one of the reasons I travel a lot."
She did not extend her hand to him but rather waited for him to move. Besides, that wolf of his was keen on her and she didn't want to get any closer than she had to.

Lao was not seeing any activity for the moment that warranted concern, so he shrugged and jumped off of the roof into the alleyway, bending his knees as he landed on the cobblestone street. He then walked into the open crowd, continuing to search for any possible threats.
Still, it was not a paranoia that drove him. He did not see the need to look behind every street corner and down every alley. It was simply something that he did not do unless necessary, and right now, it was not. At least, not yet. He was inconspicuous as he walked down the street, as if he were another one here for the shops and the fresh air. No one minded his clothing, and even if they did, they did not comment on it. He headed towards Hikaru and Kenji's horses, casually nodding to them as he approached.
"My apologies if I seem intrusive, but I'd like to know the details of this meeting- if they have been given to you. Call it curiousity, if you will," he asked in the eastern tounge, so as not to have too many overhear the conversation between them. He needed to know everything that this rendezvous entailed- from the major issues of security detail, to the topic of what the discussion was to be about. He needed these details, just to have for an emergency.
One could not be too prepared, after all.

"Indeed."
That was all she said, for now. Mercedes knew now that she had to tread carefully around Farren Lone. He was amiable enough but she worried a little about his wolf. He had undoubtedly caught the scent of the blood on her hands which was quite fresh. She had taken yet another life within the past 24 hours and she didn't particularly care. The only regret she had about the killing was that it gave her away a little to the wolf.
'No matter,' she thought,' The beast is loyal to his master. So I'll fool the master to discredit the beast.' Her mind worked furiously.
"Perhaps you'd like to make up for furry friend's behavior by buying me a drink?"

Farren's face was still apologetic.I have to drop Snow here off at the inn that i'm staying in. But if you will be here for a while, i'll come back and buy you that drink. Does that work?

Farren nodded and began walking quickly with Snow back towards the inn. Now that he knew the way, and that the crowd was somewhat thinner, the trip would be much more efficient. Besides, this wasn't the time to sightsee, he had a social obligation. And as much as he hates social politics, his upbringing would have him fulfill it.
It took him roughly 10 minutes to get back to the Inn. Once there, he went back to the room with Snow, who informed Fang and Demon of the situation.
Afterward, Farren gave his reassurances and began the trek back towards the tavern.
((When you switcheth back to Mercedes, i'll post my triumphant return to the tavern then!))
