Einstein Ami RinoaHeartilly Yep. We use lyres. I don't, since I'm a piccolo, but my friends who play the clarinet and trumpet do. They seem to break em' a lot xd They even used em' as hair clips before xd *has done that before* ninja It hurt when I took 'em out of my hair. ;__; lol i didn't think that that was going to be something done by anyone else xd

Only in the stands. I was going to use my lyre last night for the halftime show (because I didn't know a measure of a song @.@) ...but some of my music had already flown out because it was really, really windy that night.

We have to memorize our music... I saw in the "You might be a band geek if..." thread that a girl uses the little clips as hair clips... now that's a good idea...
and Nintendo Punk 05, AMEN!! I memorized all the stand tunes ccept for the fight song... xp

I don't.. I just clip my flipbook to my bass drum and OFF I go. I might be using one when I am on snare, though. Hmmm...

We don't use them. At all. ^^; We have to memorize our music pretty quickly.

i do but only during practice... the games i dont always use it. sometimes i do sometimes i dont... matters on my mood.
there is nothing wrong with using a lyre... no matter what you play... xd

only for some of the early practices and parades and stand still concert type things. i'm kinda sad cause i had to attach a lyre to my prettyful conn 8d french horn....stupid stand still concert. but the guy that worked on my horn turned out to be a former owner of it; that was cool.

Like many other people, only in the stands. But flutes, including piccolos (which I play at games) get to wear these uncomfortable things on our arms.

Stormbird_Rising Trombone lyres never work... or mine don't, at least... lol, I chucked mine into the woods during our game today... it was starting to really piss me off. I feel ya. I have two lyres and neither one fits my bone because I have a large bore and I have yet to find one that works. It will hold until the worst possible moment and then swing to have uside down and get in the way. On the plus side, it forces me to memorize my music because I suck at memorization.

If we see a band with lyres we laugh at them once they're out of earshot. They make us laugh, and we don't use them. We'd never be allowed to show our faces in the Music Dept. again if we did! Memorization is hard, but if you don't do that, you really aren't that good of a band...
We don't use them in the stands...
We had to memorize:
3 large movements
The 'Banner'
Parade Tune
7 Pep songs
A Chorale
Other junk we made up to play in the stands for fun!
