Exotica the Grotesque My sister really wanted to get a chinchilla once. We can't have pets because we move a lot. We once had dogs, (I was in the second grade), and we had to give them away. I cried buckets. j_j I did get mice some years later, and they died of old age. One of them seemed to have had a heart attack or something. I miss them.
If I could, I'd like to get a snake, they're so beautiful and majestic. But the rest of my family hates snakes. Plus I'd have a serious guilt complex because I love mice so much. Do you think snakes can live off shreds of chicken?
Or a cat. But I'd hate to give it away again... I dunno about snakes or what they eat... I'm sure there must be snakes out there that don't live off mice. Or maybe not. *is not sure* sweatdrop Chinchillas are housed in big two-level cages (sometimes three-level, but not usually), so you could move them if you move around a lot... But they are so very expensive. And they need lotsa love and attention, and they ALSO need privacy and personal space. So it takes a while before you figure out how much to pamper them and how much to leave them alone. stressed

Kibeth--Walker Aren't they adorable? This is my pet chinchilla. His name is Pooh. He is nine years old now. He is so fluffy... And he is also very tame, and somewhat obnoxious in his security. ^^ Let's discuss chinchillas, pets, Winne the Pooh, and other random topics as they come into our mind! Yay! =O
I have two chinchillas.
Actually, one's my sisters, and my other sister and I share the other chinchilla.
We named ours Woobie.
It fits.

heart PhoebeYAY CHINCHILLAS! Technically, he's my sister's pet, but I feed him, bathe him, take care of him, and clean his cage. I'm also the one who plays with him the most. ^^ Yay, Woobie! My sister and I discussed about how if we ever got a brown chinchilla, we'd have to name it Pretzel, and my sister wants to name a chinchilla Rascal at some point. I saw a chinchilla at a pet shop, though, that had these cute little black marking around its mouth, like a mustache or a goatee or something! I remember thinking that Mr. Gentleman would be such a perfect name for him... Calling a chinchilla Mr. Gentleman has some appeal to it, you must admit. xp

So cute! My hamster used to eat my homework if I left it on top of the cage. I brought it in to school once, and everyone thought I can cut it up myself, till a student smelled the paper and wrinkled his nose and said it smelled like his dog's breath. rofl

I used to keep betas all the time. I used to name them "Prince" cuz I thought it was a cool name and then I learned about Prince and it wasn't a cool name for a fish anymore. My last Prince died in a little bowl of fish poo cuz I went on vacation and mom didn't realize I had a fish. rolleyes

Aww, poor chinchilla... That's a lot of animals! xd
We got our chinchilla an excercise wheel recently, and he loved it so much he broke his old cage with it. o.O Not quite sure how that happened, but it was old and kinda rusty anyhow, so yeah. We got a new cage, and now he broke his wheel. sweatdrop I'm also uncertain as to how he managed to do that.

I'd like to have a turtle once I go off to college. I would name him Bert, after the turtle from the cold war duck and cover filmstrip.

I've probably already mentioned this before, but I have tiny turtle who refuses to grow who I have called Eat Me, because he looks so perfectly small and round he reminded me strongly of the Eat Me cakes from the books.
He glares at people and hides under his rock, only coming out when the thinks he's alone to chomp at his food.

I've never had an exotic pet, but right now my family is pet-sitting the neighbor's dog. She's living with us, and she's very energetic. Today she tried to get back to her house. It was sorta sad.

Awwww! Poor doggie... I don't consider chinchillas or turtles very exotic, though, maybe because the local Petco stalks them in such abundance. xp But I get what you mean, chinchillas at least are a lot less common than, say, hamsters. Even though chinchillas are so very very fluffffy. Mmm.
