Logan watched as Echo seemed to flop onto her side, his ear folding back in concern. He stood up straight again and padded over to her, his paws making prints in teh sand as he walked. When he got closer he tilted his head in consideration, her pelt was grain ridden with little grains of golden sand within it, barely noticeable in the sun though.
He smiled and lay down next to her, behind her really, and watched her for a moment. She seemed to like to lay in the sand, it was warm, and comfy, though grainy. He smiled and lay his head by hers on the sand, still watching her, "Having fun?" he asked smiling, tail wagging.

"Having fun," she repeated, nodding her head slightly. When he lay his head next to hers, she smiled and licked his cheek, her tail wagging gently against the sand.

When he heard her say she was indeed having fun, he felt like he was having more fun then. This was nice, sun bathing with her, having fun, it was nice. When she smiled, and licked his cheek, his tail wagged in the sand, making and indent that grew larger with every swish.
He nuzzled her gently and smiled, perhaps he could ask her something now. Not about joining Phib's pack, not yet, that was for later if she really liked it here, besides, he ahd asked before, and he wasn't totally sure how Echo's sister felt about it.
"Echo...lately..." stumbling with words again, he only seemed to do that around Echo when he was trying to ask her somehting important, or random, maybe it was a sign? "Lately...have you been feeling anything...like, out of the ordinary?" He wanted to know if she felt anything like he felt when he was around her.

Echo lay there comfortably, happily, next to him. Her tail slowed in its wagging, but never stopped. She simply felt happy around him and she couldn't stop wagging her tail, because that would mean she'd stop showing that she was happy, and she didn't want him to think that he didn't make her happy...
"Out of the ordinary?" she echoed, staying true to her name as always. Her ears flicked to the side as she thought for a moment. Yes, she had felt some things that were a bit strange and new to her, but was that what he meant? Figuring she might as well offer it up, she attempted to get it through clearly.
Nodding, she chose her words carefully. "Feeling.. out of the ordinary." Argh, that didn't sound right. Frowning, she looked down at the sound. Damn her curse!

Logan's eyes watched Echo's tail continue to wag back and forth, just as his did, both their tail almost wagged in unison, how interesting. Logan watched as Echo seemed to fight with what words she said, after she considered his question.
Then she did say she was feeling out of the ordinary. He hoped that meant good things like he had felt, not like...he was presssuring her too much, or coming on too strong...oh no, was he? He hoped not...perhaps he could ask with a little more detail, and hope to not look like a fool in the process.
"Like...very happy lately...feeling warm and fuzzy-like on the inside..." he said trailing off, shifting himself so that he could look at her more, tail still wagging, his eyes trying to meet hers, "Like, thinking of only one wolf lately...in ways you haven't thought of anyone before? Anything like that?" he asked, but he spoke his words slowly, so he wouldn't put too many words out there. His ears folded back in his blushing expression again, "Because...thats what I've felt lately...I didn't know if you felt it too..."

Echo listened carefully to what he said, making sure not to miss a word. And, as she was listening, she was also putting together what she would say. When he finished, she looked down at the sand for a moment then back up towards him.
"Thinking of only one wolf, haven't thought of anyone before. Like that," she said, nodding slightly. Then, when she looked into his eyes again, she suddenly became fearful. What did this all mean? Did she really mean what she had said, that she had only been thinking of him those past few days. Well, yes, that was true. But did she mean it in the sense that she liked him that way, that much?
Folding her ears back in a nervous manner, the female suddenly got to her paws and trotted off a few feet. She glanced over at the sun, which was now beginning to set, and whined. She was trying to tell him that she needed to get back soon or Ophelia would worry.

Logan listened to Echo's words carefully, so she had felt teh same way teh past few days! That made his heart lurch with joy, but then he noticed a strange and nervous gleam in her eyes. Perhaps she was scared...
Or maybe...she felt that way about another wolf she had met...
He hoped she had been thinking about him, well, she looked at him right before she said it, while she was saying it. So that gave him a wave of relief over his frame, but then he watched as Echo stood up, and seemed to look at the sun as it was setting.
It was getting late...
Echo would have to be heading back to Ophelia soon, he;d have to head back to the packlands and hope Phib didn't get angry at his absense in case he needed him for something. Then Logan thought about teh fish, he peered over in that direction, he could see some crows huddled around something...darn.
Perhaps Echo didn't like fish though, and thats why she didn't eat it.
He padded over to her and sat down next to her, staring at teh sky as it began to change colors, "Your sister...will be looking for you soon...do you want me to, walk you back there?" he asked with a smile and a wag of his tail.

Echo didn't move away as he came over and sat next to her, but then she didn't move closer either. She didn't know why, but she was scared about all of this. The feelings, the way that he looked at her and seemed to care so much about her... it was all simply too strange. No one had ever cared for her or her twin sister, and now suddenly he did? It was simply a new change and it frightened her.
Frowning at herself with her ears back against her skull, she merely nodded when he asked if she wanted him to take her back to her sister. And with that, she rose to her paws and slowly began to walk back home, her head lowered and her tail no longer wagging.
She was so confused..

He watched as her facial expression changed, she seemed saddened or nervous, his ears folded back and stayed there in consideration, and while she nodded and started to walk back, he followed, and walked alongisde her somewhat, his tail swaying back and forth now, merely one swish with every step...
He felt like he did something wrong...
Logan cursed at himself in his mind, telling him that he was a fool and stupid to say anything, for coming off too strong, for getting too close too fast, for making her nervous...
It was his fault...he knew it...
He walked alongside with her, getting back was faster then when they walked from it, they'd be there soon, but now, he didn't know what to say anymore, he was confused and angry at himself...

Echo continued walking along with her head hanging low and her ears folded back against her skull in a nervous manner. She felt absolutely horrible. His silence alongside her told her that perhaps he was a bit sad as well, and she must have been the one to cause that. He probably thought that it was his fault she was like this, but really it wasn't. It was her own, her thoughts and her feelings, that had caused her to act like this.
Sighing slightly, as she couldn't explain to him why she was like this, she merely continued onward, her paws making prints in the sand that would stay there until the wind brushed them away or the ocean waves jumped up onto shore and stole them.
Her eyes grew dull as she walked alongside him. If only she could talk on her own, then it would all be better. She would be able to talk to him freely, tell him what was wrong, and everything would be all fine and dandy. Or at least she thought that's how things would be. But, as she'd never know, she'd simply have to settle for what she got and what she had.
Glancing over at him for a moment, her feelings only got worse. He seemed crushed and she couldn't stand looking at him when he was like that. It simply tore at her heart.
Frowning, the female sped up, her paws hitting the ground quicker than before. She just wanted to run and get away from it all.

Logan walked along with her, the silence was eating away at him. Should he say something? Well...look where it had got him thus far. He continued on, soon they'd be where he found Echo residing, and she'd have to go home again...and then he'd have to say good-bye again.
He hated saying good-bye...
He had his reasons for it, its the words he had to say when he lost his mother, the only one that slightly had cared for him. They were the words he said to his brothers and sisters, when they told him to leave. They were the words he told his father, when his father exiled him from the pack...they were the words that broke his heart, when he had to say them to Echo.
But then she ran...
His eyes widened and he whined low...why was she running? He didn't say anything, nothing at all, why... he felt his insides being pulled at as if they were being torn apart, falling apart, being crushed and he cried out to her as she sped up and passed him and was beginning to disappear into teh forest, "Echo! Echo come back!"
Logan went to go after her, but as soon as he entered the forest, it was darker, and he couldn't make out which way she went...no, it couldn't end like this. Not tonight! Not after they had made a connection. "Echo!" he howled out, nothing still.
Frantically he tried picking up her scent, but they had been on the beach so long it was hard, so he ran. He ran in one direction and didn't stop until he found the stream again, the bears had gone, but Echo wasn't there either, "Echo! Please...please come back..." he said, lowering his head to look in his reflection that glimmered in the running water.
He didn't know if he'd ever see her again...he didn't know...if that was it...if she was gone.
He flopped down onto the ground, on the stream bed, looking down at his reflection with distaste, with hate. It was his fault she ran, and he hated himself for it. He curled his tail around himself, not knowing whether to stay here, try and look for her in the dark, or go back to the packlands, he didn't know what to do anymore.
He didn't even get to say good-night...

Echo hadn't known where exactly she was going to go when she randomly took off away from him. All that she knew was that she had to get away from it all, if only for a little bit. But then she had gotten lost, gotten separated from him. She hadn't intended on it coming out this way.
Whining to herself, she stopped suddenly and looked around. It was dark now, and she couldn't see much of what was in front of her, despite her keen eyes that could see well in the dark. The forest around here was simply too dense.
Ears perked slightly as she heard someone call out. Logan? It was distant, too far away for her to tell for sure. And since she was afraid of getting too lost in this scary place, she didn't want to go running about looking for him. But she felt just awful about running away like that. She had thought perhaps he could keep up, but she must have surprised him and he didn't have enough time to start after her.
Lowering her head again, she simply slinked away, off towards the den that she and her twin shared.
But then she got an idea. Turning back around to face where she had thought she heard a voice from, the female blinked once. Then, with not much more than a second thought, she lifted her nose to the sky and let out a howl. It was a sad howl, one that told how sorry she was for leaving him like that and that she hoped he understood that she needed some time to think...

Logan was still flopped on teh ground, listening to the water rush by on the stones, glinting in the light of the night. He could see the faint flicker of a couple firelfies in the distance, across the stream, the way teh light relfected off the water gave them a glowing green appearance...Echo would've liked it he thought, as he sat and relfected upon himself.
All the things his father and siblings had said to him, "your fault...wise-on up...find where you belong...you don't belong here...not welcome...your not my son...no brother of ours..." he mumbled quietly to himself. All those things, he didn't believe they were true, Echo made him feel at home, those things they had said, they had to be lies....weren't they?
He still felt bad about what had happened, he felt like he was losing himself to something, but then he heard her. She was far from him, but close in his heart, he knew it, even if she didn't. He howl was sad, apologizing, but holding meaning that she needed time, to reflect upon everything that had happened.
He understood adn stood up, raising his muzzle and returning the howl, but his held understanding and affection, letting her know he would be back again, he'd keep his promise, and...good-night.
Lowering his muzzle again, he hoped that she would find Ophelia alright, would get home alright, as he turned and headed back to Phib's lands, to find somewhere to rest for the night, rest and dream of Echo.
