animepunkie4ever Dark N I just don't think this song should be made into a single. Reasons:
1. Teenies will run around singing the lyrics, and they won't even know what the song is about. That hurts.
2. Holiday came out not too long ago. And it's just now starting to get decent airplay. I agree with everything you said there. I am jealous of you people, you know exactly how to get what you think into words, whereas I jumble up all my words, get confused, and end up saying something that's not actually what I think. gonk I consider myself very lucky to have the grammatical skills I posess. And I'm only 14. Too bad I'm not planning on becoming an author, eh?

Overall the song sounds like a rushed album filler. It just doesnt work and is nowhere near their usual standard. It sounds like it was written by a random average going nowhere band.

But you must remember, Billie didn't write it for the hit and whatnot. He said in the article in Britain's Q magazine that it's a bit difficult for him to perform the song at concert's because it's the most personal song he's ever written. No matter what you think, it means a lot to him and the lyrics can be interpreted anyway anyone would like. I think the song's very nice, not Green Day style, but I think it helped Billie to go whatever crisis he was going through and I think it helped develop them a bit more as a band to do such a slow song. I don't know. But that's my personal opinion.

Just my opinion, but...
I like the song, and it shouldn't be a big huge music video, since it's very personal to Billie Joe (It's about his father passing away.)...
I don't mind the eyeliner or the outfits, really...

2. Holiday came out not too long ago. And it's just now starting to get decent airplay.i agree with what you've said. i think i stated this before in my other post here. besides the fact that they won't know what it's about. soon. they'll know what it is about and go around telling people that already know. but, really. people have thought it was a love ballad. WMUWSE is no a goddamn LOVE BALLAD! but what can you expect from the stupid magazines i see around the house or just anywhere... teenies never know what the songs are about anyway. you go "what's waiting about? " "uhhm.. thanking your lucky stars?" whee ..... but that was a poor example.
true. holiday did just come out. and it's just barely starting to air. but, didn't they kind of do that with BOBD after AI? the thing is. people are just going to go crazy over this song. and i don't like the song. out of all the ones off of AI. even if it's the one that really doesn't much "belong" in the album. it shouldn't be a hit in my opinion. even if it means a buch to Billie. that song is just not a hit. but oh well....
i feel like i messed up again sweatdrop stressed

A million bands have written lyrics that sound pretty much the same. It just really lacks any expression. Green day have never written a song that sounds as tired as this before. Its just seiously dissapointing. Many artists have written about lost loved ones and they have made alot better efforts than this.

I just saw it, and I have a whole new respect for Sam. I wasn't expecting a war type scenario, I was expecting maybe flash-backs of his father or something, but I think it worked well. I know a lot of you will disagree with me, but I think Sam did an amazing job, and the lighting looks great.

I didn't like the video that much. Personally, I felt the song didn't fit with the story. Good video, but not for Green Day. It was a bit bland, no excitement, and didn't have an ending. If anything, it could've been better. *shrug*
