[document format because this might be the only post of the day]
ALRIGHT!
Today is June 26th, Phantom day!
In about an hour we're going to get on the metro and go to Gare du Nord, and then we'll be on the Eurostar train for about three hours to soon arrive in London. We're going to either hang out at the hotel or walk around, and then we're going to (probably) walk across the river to Her Majesty's to see PHANTOM!
By the way, on my countdown poster, I crossed out the number 1, circled the Phantom mask symbol a bunch of times, and wrote "IT'S HERE!" around it.
(I want to see if Earl Carpenter does that I'm-absent-mindedly-running-my-fingers-through-my-own-hair thing... XD)

I have FINALLY seen PotO on stage!!!
Remember the "12 days of PotO", where they say "10,000 cast changes"? Well, that happened here too. I guess you have to live with the understudies if you go to the theater on Monday. Here are the changes: Erik: Rohan Tickell (original Piangi XD) Raoul: David Erik (Oh, my, gosh, what a name!) Meg: Naomi Cobby Firmin: David Lawrence Andre: Richard Sidaway Piangi: Howard Ellis (there had to be a Piangi understudy today...) They were great, but I wish I could have seen the originals in all the roles. Especially Erik. And Raoul.
The best parts: 1. The true beginning, the overture. The music was loud, but what did I care! 2. I just absolutely ADORED the themesong scene! It pwned all the other scenes! I was phanhyperizing all the way through and I had to restrain myself from singing along. I did very quietly hum the 4th verse/coda countermelody though... Shh, don't tell... 3. ALL the chandelier stuff. MUAHAHA!! I couldn't see the chandelier on the ceiling clearly from where I was sitting, but I did see it fall (muahaha) and I got to see it rise again at the beginning of intermission.
(rest of post saved in case internet shuts down)

Syd Barrett I saw the musical at Her Majesty Theatre, too (a month ago or so)... that theatre is just wonderful. I went on monday as well, but the cast was a little different. I was surprised that we got tickets on Mondays; usually theaters are dark. Yes, Her Majesty's is wonderful. The only problem is that the arrangement of seats puts the balconies above a lot of people's heads, including ours. The result? We couldn't see the chandelier. crying Voice in my head: Update your log! Me: A little later... Voice in my head: NO! NOW! Me: A little later... Voice in my head: NNNNOOOOWWWW!!!! Me: A little later...
