Lisette763 Obsidian Butterfly was my favorite so far. It took Anita away from all the drama in St. Louis and focussed on her relationship (?friendship?) with Edward, something the previous books failed to do adequately. There is something to be said for the mystery of not knowing everything about him, but there is also something humanizing about seeing him in a situation where he has to act "normal." OB really shows just how much of a sociopath/ psychopath he really is, and left me wanting to know more, like how he got to be the way he is, who the super-secreative military dudes at the end were and how Edward knew them, and other stuff. Plus, that book was one of the more shocking books of the series as far as the murder scenes. The following books have focused so little on Anita's work as a preternatural investigator; OB was the last one with a lot of blood and gore, especially the part where that thing was in the nursery and eating the babies... seriously twieted (just how I like it). OB was the first time Anita was ever seriously close to death, the first time I wondered as a reader if she would really make it. It showed the weakness in her powers and forced her to rely on her guns and her killer instinct. I don't know about anyone else, but I would like to see a spin-off series focused on Edward, from him becoming an assassin to just a cold-blooded killer of anything with a good price on its head. Wowie. I agree. A spin off focused on Edward would be fantasically fantastic! And Obsidian Butterfly is also my favorite. It was what hooked me on the series. The murder scenes compelled the morbid portion of my little mind to keep reading. Tho I nearly put it down when the Zombie entered the nursery. crying ...Good book though.

Seraphina was the best bad guy ever... the only one yet to have defeated Anita. The bad guys keep gettin more and more powerful but none have been as scary as her. So first place goes to bloody bones... Obsidion Butterfly was cool just becasue it featured Edward and it has one of my favorite vamp characters... Itzpapolotyl. I hope we see more of Itzpapolotyl in later books.

Maybe I'll get it when I go book shopping next. *adds to the growing list* I'm not sure how I feel about an Edward spin off. It sounds good but I wonder just how far one could take it as an independant series. If it ever came to be I'd definately check it out.

I love each of the books for their own individual characteristics, but my favorite might be Blue Moon... probably because of the importance of the werewolves and the overall Richard aspect. biggrin Meh. It struck me as one of the best, at least. To me. smile

The thing I found interesting in Narcissus in Chains was how Chimera came to be. The idea of someone getting bitten by one form of were and then going and being attacked over and over by different weres before your first full moon. Very inventive of LKH, but that is what I have grown to expect! from the wonderful woman.
