You know, nothing annoys me quite like people passing judgement on Dorothy simply because of those two facts. Just completely ignoring the rest of her character and screaming at her eyebrows (which Treize has too) and her attacking Quatre (the enemy commander during a war). It would be like me writing Duo off as a shallow goofball idiot based off his first appearance and refusing to change my mind ever.

Sounds just like a lot of people who ignore basically everything about every character in the show, for the sole purpose of bashing Wing. Dang it... stupid idiot know-nothing fangirls and anti-fans...

Ok, I know it's wrong to make fun of Miss Dorothy's eyebrows but this picture was just too funny. Still, I say Dorothy is dorothy whether or not she has those eyebrows. She's fairly complicated and her persona is pretty unique although I see a bit of her in Flay Allster since that SEED character is as manipulative as they come. 3nodding

Like the people who think the show is just badly written, but somehow manages to come together in a fashion that tricks people into thinking it's deep. Une: The pic is sorta funny, but she just looks odd with no eyebrows at all.

Colonel Lady Une Ok, I know it's wrong to make fun of Miss Dorothy's eyebrows but this picture was just too funny.  Still, I say Dorothy is dorothy whether or not she has those eyebrows. She's fairly complicated and her persona is pretty unique although I see a bit of her in Flay Allster since that SEED character is as manipulative as they come. 3nodding After seeing the image the first time, it still makes me giggle. But it's true, with or without her eyebrows, I reckon she'd remain the way she is. She does have a knack for being manipulative, and I agree I see that manipulativeness within Flay Allster. >.> I seriously hated her.... I do... really. Flay that is. But... I don't mind Dorothy at all ^^;

Yep, Dorothy is cunning and it's loveable! Flay, on the other hand... Well she's intent on causing harm and when her daddy died, I think she lost her mind.

Mhmm Dorothy is the cunning type of person. As for Flay, when her father died she went insane. She wanted to so badly cause pain on those who had destroyed her father.
Let alone use her manipulative skills on Kira... making him turn on his own friend. *builds hand into fist ready to smack Flay in the face* >.>

Dorothy's family was pretty much killed off too but she didn't go nuts. Although, admittedly, her calm reaction to her grandfather's death was creepy...
Eh, but Flay died. And I liked her more than Lacus. At least Flay showed flaws and was very human. Lacus is too much of a goddess.

o~o Dorothy did take it in as a creepy way, but even soo... at least she didn't go ballistic.
Eh Flay's dead, and I don't have to be soo grudgey against her. But yehh, Lacus is too perfect. No flaws, and she's basically what everyone achieves to be. @__@ She needs to show some weak sign... Or some form of another personality.

I don't know. Lacus is like the complete opposite of Flay. And I still don't understand how she could command the Eternal. She has no experience with battleships. It's impossible for a pop superstar politician's daughter to command something like that without previous experience.

Well... isn't Lacus a co-ordinator in a way? Like not human born... because if so, then that would mean she'd need no training and would have the ability. But then again that'd seem unfair x.o

I chalk all of Lacus' perfection up to having a rich daddy who spent a fortune on making her the best at everything. Coordinators... I can almost sympathize with Blue Cosmos at times.
Flay was definitely something like a more hateable Dorothy. She was a fairly well put together character, partly because its so hard to feel sorry for her

I don't know, she always struck me as someone trying to be deliciously evil and enjoying it too. People have brought up some very good points to make me reconsider though. confused
Heh, that is a good image. biggrin

I'm not sure if I can give Dorothy such a black and white definition. Gundam Wing itself stands for so much more than just a series. It's a show about compassion, humanity, and emotion. More importantly, it's about human connection. Personally, I feel like we can only skim the surface on someone like Dorothy. She may act one way, but there's a lot under the surface we can't analyze. When you lose everything that your life stand for (family, ambition), people act out in ways that others don't understand. She may seem psychotic and war crazy, but there's more to it than that. Any other cheesy animation would have every woman who lost someone portrayed as breaking down and clinging to someone strong and supportive. Or, they'd out the entire scene and make the war be rainbows and sunshine. Gundam Wing's showed the distinct differences in each characters coping methods... even if we don't really understand them. Her seemingly illogical or confusing actions were part of something much stronger deep down. That's a part of being human. That's life.

So would you consider Mariemaia her protege? As a child, do you think Dorothy would have acted similarly? I have a feeling that Dekim and Dermail had similar methods in raising their granddaughters. Also, Dorothy grieves her father General Catalonia who was last seen in Episode Zero. It's amazing how she can see the war that took everything away from her as a means of sharing her pain with humanity and bringing about peace. By encouraging battle, more people die and more people see war's evils hence sending the message that they should stop. It's a cunning move. 3nodding
