Adib Well, from what we have seen, they don't have genders per se, but certain ones share physical characteristics with females of carbon-based species. But that's oinly because people (the parents) Started to complain. People dont listen to reason when you look at a robot, you say "Look it's cute" It being asexual. scream parents suck sometimes lol

To be honest, none of my TransFan pals have ever mentioned their parents complaining that the Transformers are asexual. In fact, they have never mentioned their parents expressing any interest in how the Transformers reproduce in the first place.

It wasnt the American audience that complained, the japanese parents did, and since it started in japan, it was fixed before it even got to america so we didnt have anything to complain about

The Transformers as a franchise started in America. Hasbro used Takara's molds for their DiaClone line and made them into a cartoon and comic book series.

Actually, most of the third season of Generation 1 had the original Arcee in it; furthermore, every episode (save some of the early ones) of Beast Wars and Beast Machines featured female characters (Black Arachnia and Airrazor).

I think that's one of the factors that made beast wars so great, enough female characters for the amount of people and a good storyline for them

While I enjoy crafting femine OC Transformers myself, the concept really is ridiculous. They happen to be Robots in Disguise, and as such, must be taken as being completely asexual. Gender-bias simply WOULD NOT APPLY. But fanboys get into the sexual fantasy of fembots, and fangirls revel in the insipid pasttime of pairing their female OCs with canon 'bots for romantic purposes. The Quintesson explanation of consumer-relations robots goes some of the way to justify the presence of female Transformers, but its a tenuous premise to say the least. And, being aliens, who's to say the Cybertronian race has need for two sexes? Who's to say any race out there in the great celestial expance has more than one gender? Or perhaps there are more than two in some instances? Perhaps that's were minicons fit in? Um... or not! While female Transformers may be an established part of the narrative universe behind the toyline, it is no less preposterous, and shall be acknowledged grudgingly...

Okay, first thing fist, the cartoons(G1 don't know about Micron/Superlink/Galaxy Force) origin of the Transformers completely sucks. I try never to use it when talking about them. The Marvel comic origin does give a great deal of sence to why there are female and male Transformers even though either is capable of creating new Transformer life.
Basically there children of a god, so why wouldn't a god want to have daughters as well as sons. Primus never struck me as shovonistic.

I agree... to some extent. I can't say that I'm one for the whole Quintessons as progenitors of the Cybertronian race debate, and never use that take on the Transformers' origin in my own work. While I have acknowledged the Primus concept as an established religion of Cybertronian society, I don't personally go for that, either. As far as I'm concerned, the inception of the Transformers is irrelevant, and something that needn't ever be concisely established. Conjecture is fine, and every 'bot is entitled to their own beliefs, but the truth may never be known for sure. The way it should be. So why have 'female' robots? I haven't bridged that topic yet - there just are (or so it would seem, for now...). Perhaps issue #234 of the Marvel UK comic series holds the answer to this question: in the story "Prime's Rip", the Autobots manufacture a new type of warrior in an effort to strengthen Earth/Cybertron ties - Arcee. [link] What do other people think of this particular version of events (or am I straying too far from the original contention of this thread)?
