.:Welcome to the Nudist Island of Dr.Moreau:. Natsumi & Colche Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi poked her head into the empty exercise room, letting out a sight of releif to her new solitude. Her hair had been pulled back into a high ponytail to keep it out of her way. She removed the clothing she had thrown over her old highschool gymnist uniform, a brightly colored bodysuit. It consited of the school's colors, green and white, along with a few bands of gold to add to the striped patterns holding tightly to her arm.
The room seemed much wider than any gym she'd ever been in back in highschool, just about every bit of exercise equipment one could hope for. Her eyes scanned the room for somethign that might have related to her favorite pass time.. a balance beam, a vaulting table, even a trampoline... everything seemed to be focused towards more common exercises. She gave a soft sigh, deciding she could make due with what she had. Besides, she needed to work up to it again anyways. She had been out of practice for a year or so.
With an encouraged bounce in her walk she moved to pluck a mat off the wall. Laying it out on the empty space of the floor to start her basic streaches. She sat, keeping her legs out straight then sliding her hands foreward to reach her toes. Colche The need to stretch her legs was a pretty common thing for Colche, after all she was a cheetah. Exploration though, was one of her favourite past times, she didn't much like to just stay in doors always. Her long tail twitched anfd flickered behind her as she padded through the villiage, she fully intended to go to the river and follow it's course to see where it ended up. However a building she had never seen before leapt in to her vision along with the scent of somone new.
How many new people were there? The whole place was full of the none furry at the moment it seemed. Well, Colche was always up for making a new friend, the need for privacy really didn't come in to her vocabulary.
Peering around the door her small furry ears flickered, deep baby blue eyes searching the room and it's alien equuiptment. What was it all for? Well maybe the lady on the floor would know. Tilting her head in a catty manner she gave a little giggle. What the girl was doing looked very funny to the little cheetah girl "Hai" she grinned waving a furry paw like hand as she stood in the door way. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi didn't seem to notice as someone appeared in the doorway, too busy streaching herself out past what most people would find uncomfortable. However, a voice came, and she caught that. She quickly lifted herself, flushing some as though she'd been caught doing something horrible. Perhaps it was simply the (what she would call) skimpy gym clothing she wore, she'd allways felt uncomfrotable in it. Still it was the best for exercise.
She tried to compose herself, bushing a few static charged hairs from her face. "Good afternood..." she returned the wave. She seemed to choke a bit as the apperance of the Cheetah girl hit her like a 2 by 4. So... this was another subject of the island. She looked much worse than Nita... Nita just had some fur, wierd ears... things like that. But this.... She was caught somewhere between facination and horror. Leaving her expression a bit dazed. Colche Colche as usual pretty much oblivious to people horror or facination opened the door all the way and came padding in. The cheetah which ran through her veins gave her a beautiful swift grace which was interupted by a rather happy bounce in her step.
Perfect blue eyes rested on the girl and she smiled happily as she padded up to the mat, finally reaching it she hunkered down and poked the squichy material with a claw before even turning her attention on Nat "Colche" She grins holding out a paw like hand, the fur a soft tan colour dotted with black splotches.
Of course, hardly anyone ever commented ont he fact that she was walking around naked. That was the way she did things. The 'skimpy' outfit that the other girl wore didn't even make her bat an eye, though usually her attire, or more the lack there of, caused a few raised brows. She really didn't mind she was comfortable like this. Plus, her fur made her hot any more items would only become bothersome int he muggy heat of the island. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi could have died as the full view of the woman came in, her overdressed upbringing flooded her mind. It seemed far worse than anything else, the fur.. the teeth. None of that seemed to be as suprising as the fact she was nude. She tried to rationalize her mind, to keep respectful... But such a thing was hard when the person infront of you ripped up the idea of feminine modesty so easily. The woman seemed happy though, and perhaps... Since she was part animal.. just couldn't wear clothes? Natsumi was reminded of a time her brothers had dressed a cat up... It didn't go over well at all. And she'd heard things about european women walking around without shirts.
A weak smile was given as she held her own hand out to shake Colche's hand in greeting. Her face brigtning in it's reddened color as she tried to ignor the naked-fact. If this was all socially acceptable here, then she would need to move along with the cultural standard... like it or not. "I am Tanaka, Natsumi..." her accent stayed, along with switching her name order around, a Japanese habit she couldn't so easily break. Colche "Tan..ack..ahh..naht..soo..mee" She spelt out the name as she did with most new names. Another long name. She was much happier when people had short names, for one, they were easier to remember. Giggling quietly she flumped cross legged on the ground her furry tail swishing the floor and causing dust to catch in the tawny and black fluff.
"watchadoin?" She tilted ehr head, this was one of her favourite questions, it at the moment was happily uttered as much as possible. She loved to learn new things and what ever this girl was doing was new, at least to her so she wanted to know.
The cheetah girl grinned as she waited a reply her head tilting again in that cute catty manner sweet innocent blue eyes completely oblivious of the otehr womans embarressment. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi nodded as her name was returned to her. "You can make it shorter, if you would want to." some of her friends had done it in highschool, calling her na-chan or somesuch. Nothing had ever stuck into a full nickname though.
It was hard to stay tense around someone that just glowed with carefreeness. Natsumi simply averted her eyes from the nudity... pretending it wasn't there, like many other things. "Eh?" She looked to her mat, blinking a bit. Pausing to drag the less commonly used words of her vocabulary. "I am streaching... It is exercise." She nodded with a smile, yes those were the words she looked for. "See?" she leaned foreward again, touching her toes then returning to a sit. Colche "Exercise" She mumbles watching Natsumi. Of course, most of what the girl said went over her head. Shorten it? What did that mean? Her brow scrunched but she let it slide for now.
"I likes run" she puurrs, getting that this exercise was like her joy for running. Sighing softly she smiled "runnin' fun" Puuring gently as she said it her long tail swished again and she looked at the ceiling "outside much fun exercise" she smiled once again her lips curling in a huge grin as she got to her paws. She wanted to continue her exploration and Nat was obviously busy in what she was doing, she would come back later to see if she was still here.
"Goin' for run" She grins again. "See later, lives seventeen" she grins, if anyone wanted to find ehr she made sure they knew where she lived. With a quick stretch of her shoulders she headed for the dor pushing it open and skipping out with a wave of her tail "byebye!" she called after herself vanishing off in to the villiage and off up the road for her run. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi blinked a bit at the slight purring sound. "Run?" she repeated, nodding some to show she understood. "They have machines to run on." she pointed to the treadmil, still unsure of the name of the contraption.
The girl was then on her way, Natsumi hardly noticed her stand due to her averted eyes. She snapped back to attention when she heard the 17... It took her a moment to figure out what she meant. Age, weight... But then it hit her. Romo number. "Aa. I am in 46."
She waved as the girl left, back to marvling at the animalistic qualities. She shook her head, trying to calm that fluster that hung heavily on her face as she went back to her streaches, switching over to the next kind. She'd reach her arm over her head and to the side. She doubted she'd get rid of her embaressment anytime soon.

The night before, Natsumi's dreams would be trouble and restless. Most of them strange, consisting more of strange colors and feelings than solid imagery, though you dream heavily about your unborn baby towards the end.
When you awake, you feel...strange. Sweaty and sore. Your skin itches terribly, and the base of your spine starts to ache in a deep, throbbing pulse. Over your arms, shoulders, thighs, and face, the skin discolors and changes textures. It becomes leathery, but buttery soft, puckering into a small scale pattern. Your eyelids feels stiff, and for several hours you have to consciously blink or else your eyes start to feel dry.
It doesn't hurt too much, mostly itches, a thin, skin ridges form on your feet. They are soft and pliable, and for the moment don't hinder your ability to walk or wear shoes... the flaps just fold neatly over the tops of your foot.
Over the course of about an hour, the base of spine stretches out, by far the most painful part of the transformation. Slowly the skin pulls and stretches over the new appendage, the skin leathery and scaled like over the other patches on your body.
Nothing seems to change around your genitals, not do you experience any pain or bleeding in your plumbing. By the looks of it, you baby seems by all outward appearances to be unharmed.

.:Too much Too fast:.
The weeks had gone by slowly, Natsumi kept to her schedule of ninjaing food from the cafeteria and hoarding it in her room. For the moment she didn't want to go down. She didn't want to face the fact she wouldn't see her family again in the furry faces of the others here. She didn't want to face the fact that she was culturally different from them... Naked girls, cussing men and women, the variety of things she had seen just made her more and more homesick. To put it simply, alot of the people she had seen were just rude in her eyes. But no one seemed to mean it that way... Like Colche, she had walked around doing such a thing Natsumi never could have dreamed of doing and didn't even notice she was doing it. This contraversy left her feeling confused.
Defeated and tired, she moved into the comforting feel of her bed with a sigh, easily drifting off to sleep.
But the dreams that met her weren't much of a releif from the reality. Strange moments would happen, blurry faces, she'd find herself falling sometimes. Unable to move away from things that were happening... Though those things were unreconizable. All she knew is that they didn't feel good.. and she wanted away. The fact her legs would give out and the more she tried to run the less she could move. And just when she thought it was ending the dream would take a confusing turn, random floating fruits... Blurring colors. It was more like an acid trip than a dream. Then her baby, this part seemed to be the worst. It started out well, as her old boyfriend approached her... Words of affection and how he wished to raise the child together. Then it turned again, her parents her feidns everyones she knew started putting her down... Tellering her of the shame she had brought to them. The voices swirled around her, the sound of a baby crying only joining them... Then the family faded, leaving only a tiny toddler. Her father's hair... The first image of the dream to come in so clear. As she reached foreward towards the child white coats surrounded, dragging the child away.
"Iie!!"
She shouted into the darkness of her room, jolting awake. Her eyes darted about for a moment before reality hit her... Things settled back down as her mind assorted reality and dream. For hte moment she wasn't sure which was worse.. the dream or being awake. Everythign hurt... She started with raking her fingernails across the tops of her arms, only to be met by a new feeling. Her hand fumbled for the switch of the lamp, staring wideeyed at the scale covered skin...
It took a moment of shock as she stared over her body, was she still dreaming? as she tried to sit she was met with the worst part of it all. A jolt of pain shot up her spine that made her quickly fall foreward from her bed, landing with a thud on the floor. Her hand reached back automatically to find the reason the pain had come... only finding another strange change. A... tail? "N..Nani?" she questioned it... still in a bit of shock... Her hand then fell to her stomach, sliding over the swell. Everythign seemed fine... She let out a soft sigh... head slowly lowering to the floor.
This was all too much...
The world seemed to swirl a moment, before she had fallen uncontious, perhaps exhausted.. or perhaps fainted.

Ticking Time More time had passed, it seemed as if the days were slipping away from her faster than she could grasp them. Her body would often lead her to go on wild food hunts, contradicting itself often. Going through two major changes at once had led to massive cravings; even the bug that had wandered into her room at some point would look appitizing. She never acted on that one, it was far too disturbing for her tastes.
She smiled slightly as she placed away her last packed thing inside a drawer, then moving away to look around her newly decorated room. Just about everything had been unpacked slowly but surely... and now it almost felt like a home. And al the organizing had kept her mind off of the fact she now had scales and a tail.
She paused to look over her arms, frowning some... She scraped her nails over the hard substance deciding she'd have to find some lotion somewhere to help with the newfound dryness of scales. She had to admit though, the tail was kinda cute.. It reminded her of those shows her brother used to watch, she'd never really paid attention to them.. but she had seen some girls with tails on them. So she decided tails weren't so bad... The silver lining of this whole ordeal so to speak. And... Now her family would never know of her shame or be shamed because of her... That was good. Right?
She shook her head, settling herself on the side of her bed to pick into her latest meal she had dug out whilest pondering things. Shoving the darker thoughts of missing her family from her head, she dug into the food, letting out muffled hums of one of her favorite songs.

.:You want me to play with your ball?! Oh.. That ball...:. Natsumi & Thomas Natsumi Tanaka Natsuimi wandered towards the stairway, her little bag of garbage in her off hand... hiding out in ones room did eventually lead to alot of trash. Plus it was time to get out again... And she still had a job to do, wether her empoyers were turning her into a mutant creature or not.
Her eyes traied down over the vauge pudge of her stomach, which she frowned at... Not that she didn't adore her child, but the fact that it was starting to become visible was the part she was unhappy with. Though in reality it was hardly noticable, her view did make a more drastic change and she knew what that stomach would have looked like if there hadn't been something in there. Ofcourse she had more drastic changes to worry about... scales and a tail... That was an easy one, but she had never been a big fan of reptiles... But what on earth had happend to her feet was a mystery to her.
Natsumi was so preocupied in her thoughs that she forgot about the tiny dip in one of the steps. It was just a tiny nitch, but Natsumi had aquired just the right step to catch her foot in it and knock herself off balance. "Eee!" she gave a tiny shreik as she started to fall... Eyes clenching shut. This was going to hurt... Thomas Brinley It was a boring, uneventful day. Mostly by Thom's choice. Rather than go off to explore the island, he had remained lurking infront of his own duplex, amusing himself with kicking his soccer ball against the duplex wall. He had been thrilled to discover that the glass of his window refused to break, and had taken full advantage of this trait, punting one soccer ball after another at the wall and responding to each return bound as the angle demanded. It had never occurred to him that someone might live upstairs. Thus, when he heard a door close over the thuds of his soccer ball, he immediately lost interest in his game. Leaving the ball where it fell, he peeked around towards the staircase, quirking a brow at the woman on her way down. ...And then she tripped, and Thom stepped up to meet her, one hand catching himself on the railing while the other arm rescued her from her fall, drawing her to his side. "Are you all right?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi's eyes fluttered open, looking at her apparent saviour with some confusion. She had been expecting the pain of falling down 4 flights of stairs, not a warm embrace by some guy...
She froze at that thought, flushing lightly before shoving herself away from the stranger. What would someoen think of her if they had stumbled apon her just leaning all over a guy? But he did save her... She quickly bowed her head, hands folding infront of her. "I am sorry." she fumbled out, looking more embaressed for possibly insulting him. She lifted her head slowly, taking a few steps closer to rid that 'o noes a killer' distance she had created. "I was not paying attention..." she gave a sheepish smile, "I am fine... Thankyou. I did not hurt you did I?" She frowned at him curiously, remembering the time someone had fallen on her... but then again they had been bigger than she was.
Her attention was caught from a tiny crunch on the floor, eyes moving down towards the sound... "Aa!" she squeaked in suprise, finding her bag of trash hadn't been saved as she had been and was now making a smelly waterfall down the stairs. Thomas Brinley He released her without complaint, holding up his now-free hand to show he meant no harm. "It's quite alright. Happens t' everyone. And I'm fine," he assured her, grinning wryly. As if this little thing could hurt him, even if she had falling completely down the stairs and landed sprawled atop him. Thom took a small step back, more to make her more comfortable than anything, but grimaced as his foot landed on something coarse and slimey. A glance down informed him that not only was he standing in trash, but the falling bag had effectively coated his feet in it. Disgusted, he wrinkled his nose, shaking off one foot and carefully stepping to avoid as much garbage as possible. "Ah, no worries. We'll get that cleaned up.." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi nodded, flushing as she knelt to grab the back and start picking up the nastey mess... Some of this stuff was a week old, and the results weren't pleasing. One would notice the assortment of the odder foods served in the cafeteria, things mixed together though it was unsure wether that happend before or after being thrown away. But the poor girl had been experiencing massive cnages in cravings.. first i'd be bugs, then fish, then carrots, then ketsup, then icecream, and then various mizes of the above. Ofcourse, the bugs craving had been virtually ignored by being dubbed far too gross no matter how much her stomach said otherwise.
As she tried to scoup the large part of the mess back into the bag, vaugly wondering why on earth she hadn't tied it, she spotted the strange markings the man had. Just like hers. She was almost excited to see them, everyone she had met had fur, and most people she saw had the same. As soon as she realized she was staring she, once again, flushed and tried to explain "Those. You have.." she paused, buisness school never had predicted she would need use of the word scales "Like Uroko..." She shoved something into the bag, pointing to her own arms. "Uhm. This." Thomas Brinley Thom was not at all pleased by the stinking mess dripping along his bare feet and would have very much liked to retreat to his duplex and find something with which to clean them. However, he felt obligated to stay and help clean up the assorted goop covering the stairs and, stepping down a couple of stairs, began gathering the trash in that area. It would have been rude to just walk off, even if he had kept her from falling. And, as she was his upstairs neighbor, it would probably prove beneficial to him to stay on her good side. Hands full of garbage, he glanced up when she spoke, eyeing her curiously as she searched for the word. As he followed her point to her own scales, recognition dawned and, nodding, he straightened up, reaching forward to replaced the garbage in the bag. "Scales? I do, unfortunately. Turnin' t'some kind of snake, I'd wager. D'you know what you'll be?" Natsumi Tanaka She quickly held the bag foreward and open for him to dump his pile of trash. Thankfully it had just been a medium sized trashcan, instead of the full ones. The biggest problem was the various things that had liquified... She was careful of her step so she didn't send herself down the stairs again. "Scales..." She repleateed trying to remember the word as sh ewas sure she would need it later. "No I don't...There is something strange on my feet though." Scales were obviously some sort of reptile, however webbing was another story... Though said webbing was carefully tucked inside her shoes.
As the few last bits of trash were stuffed inside the bag, Natsumi tied the top shut and peered over her now fairly sticky and uncomfortable hands. "I am sorry for being such trouble. My duplex is just up there if you would like to wash as well..." Thomas Brinley Chuckling bitterly, Thom bent to retrieve a few larger goops of god-knows-what, dropping them in the bag as well before straightening up and attempting to flick the excess off his hands. "Well, as long as you've still got toes, I'd say you'll be fine." However, his smile returned somewhat with the offer, though he shook his head. "No trouble, I assure you. An', ah, I wouldn't want t'get...goop on your floor." He grinned, shifting one foot out of the trail of sludge. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled a bit, wether he was joking or not it was true. "Yes." She did have it a bit easy... Well then again, he still had his toes for the moment, and there was the chance she was going snake the same as him.. Somehow she doubted it.
She quickly shook her head, "No, please..." She paused, not quite noticing the fact she had basically said no please get goop on my floor. "It is my fault... and... It would be easy to clean, unless there is somewhere better?"
There was a second to wait for a responce, before she let out a startled squeak. one would think she had started to fall down the stairs once more.. however she remained where she stood. "That is rude of me... I am Tanaka, Natsumi... Aa... Natsumi...." she fidgeted some trying to get rid the old name-switch habit. Thomas Brinley "If you insist," he agreed, quirking a brow. Hell, he was perfectly happy not to get rotting trash all over his floor. And he could always help her clean up her floor...if he had to. Until then, the company of a pretty woman was much more inviting than resuming kicking a ball at a wall. At the unexpected squeaked, he stepped up another step, as if expecting to have to catch her again. When she simply apologized, he blinked, then laughed, offering a hand. "Thom Brinley. S'a pleasure t' meet you, Natsumi." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled, taking his hand in hers and giving it a tiny shake. She grimanced when the grime from her hand met the grime on his... "Nice to meet you." she repeated, turning towards the staircase she had just come from. "It's this way. Number 46."
She headed back up the stairs, slipping back through the unlocked door. She had seen no reason to lock it since she was only taking out the trash. She slipped inside, leeaving the door open for him and heading to the bathroom. The duplex was fairly neat, a few photos of old family here and there, two bonsai trees atop the fridge, and everything else seemed to have been carefully tucked away in dwares.
Natsumi started by rinsing her hands in the sink, then moving towards the showers to grab a handcloth and wet it down, holding it out with a smile. "Here."
At the moment, the thoughts of what people might think about her bringing a man into her bathroom eluded her mind... At the moment she was focused on cleaning up the mess she had made. Thomas Brinley Ah yes, the muck. He had forgotten for a moment there. He frowned down at his hand as if it had interrupted something important, then, chuckling, followed her up the stairs. As if there was anywhere else to go. The stairs led right to her front door, and there was no other duplex above him. Remaining otherwise silent, he followed inside, walking awkwardly on the balls of his feet to leave as little gunk on the floor as possible. Upon reaching the bathroom, he dipped his hands beneath the faucet once she was done, then moved to sit on the edge of the tub, acceptng the rag and setting about cleaning his feet. "Thank you." Natsumi Tanaka "Mm. Not at all." She nodded, it had been her fault in the first place, and he had even saved her from a painful fall. She knewlt down, digging another cloth out from on of the cabnets. She dampened it, then turned back to the odd colored trail on her floor, smiling to herself at the factthey were only small circles and not full footprints... In a way, that had been sweet of him.
She knelt to the floor, placing both hand's on the cloth she started cleaning, starting at the front of the door and working her way back in a line. Each little circle was easily cleaned with a few back and forth motions except for a few with chocolate icecream apparently in the mix, in which she'd stop and take a few extra seconds with to do a circular motion.
Even with the troubles of chocolate she reached the end of the trail in a minute or so, and if anyone had watched a professional clean before they would have noticed a very simmalar look between Natsumi and them.
She stood, dropping the multicolored cloth in the sink and starting to rinse it out as well. The whole thing seemed like some common occurance to her, as if every day she spilt trash down stairs and invited a man inside her room to clean off his happenly bare feet. But really, she had just been used to cleaning the shrine she lived at.. offhand things when people had tracked all sorts of mud inside... and a shrine intrance caked in mud was never appealing to a tourist.
Once that task was done she looked back to Thom to see if he finished what he had been doing, looking as though she may have forgotten about him even being there while she was cleaning. It didn't take a moment or two before something dawned on her... She was alone, with a man, in her room. Natsumi's face flushed as she let out a tiny squeak, staring at him as though a monster had ripped forth from the tub's drain behind him.
She felt her brain spin as she tried to figure out what to do. her thoughts spun. She was technically an adult. And a boy in her room wasn't at all comparable to things like walking around the island naked as a certian someone did. Her logical side reasoned that this was nothing... On the other hand, at heart she was still just a girl... No matter how much she pretended she was "all grown up" now. And that part of her was screaming that there was a fairly attractive young man in her room and that soon everyone would be assuming bad things and thinking ill of her. The thought of her parents even breifly entered her mind.
She quickly shook her head, covering her face some to hide the blush she could feel rising on her cheeks, deciding to go with the "adult" logical side and simply ignor those childish thoughts. Thomas Brinley While she was gone, Thom busied himself with cleaning off his feet. For the first time since his change, he had found a reason to be thankful for his lack of toes: nasty rotting gunk couldn't get between them if he stepped in it. Still, the thought of old horrible germ encrusted garbage coating his feet was enough to make him extra meticulous in his cleaning, especially when one considered the myriad of little cuts on his feet from walking around barefoot. An infection would not bode well. Thus, he was still cleaning when Natsumi returned, though admittedly nearly complete. However, the perfection of his task would go unfulfilled, for a little squeak from the woman distracted him. Blinking, he looked up, at her expression glancing behind himself as if expecting to find some horrible monster. And so he narrowed his search, eyes scanning the tub area for what might have spooked her. A roach, a spider, something. Certainly not himself. By the time he returned his eyes to the woman, she was hiding from him, and he wisely made the decision that they should leave the bathroom. Maybe then the ability to speak would return. Setting the rag aside, he rose to his feet, cocking his head at her as if unsure what to make of her behavior. "Ah... Whatsay we 'ead outside? I don't like bein' indoors f' very long. 'Ave you ever played football?" Dumb jock routine. But it was a distraction, at least. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shuffled to her sink, dropping the dirty cloth inside. She gave a quick rinse of her hands, before looking back at him as he started speaking. "Okay..." outside sounded good, a distraction from the sudden childish reaction she was having would alwyas be good. Football? Aa.. which one was that... the one with the feet, or the one with the pointy ball? She frowned as she tried to remember that breif mention they had about it in class... Nope. Not coming back.
Either way, she shook her head.. she hadn't really played either. Though she'd seen alot of the one involving feet and none of the one with the pointy ball.. "No, I have not." She smiled some as she dried her hands and headed to the door. Thomas Brinley "Then I'll 'ave t' teach you." He grinned, leading the way out the door and down the steps, carefully avoiding the remnants of the garbage spill and making a mental note to clean it up himself later that day. Stepping over to his discarded soccer ball, he gave it another kick towards the window, frowning in mild disapproval when again there was no sign of it shattering. He wanted his window, sure, but it was mildly unnerving knowing the glass was unbreakable. Brushing off these thoughts, he retrieved the ball once more, scooping a toe beneath it and flicking it up into his hands. Returning to Natsumi, he offered it out for her inspection. "Football. Or, y' may know it as soccer." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi followed, doing the same with the trash-bits and the nitch she had tripped on earlier. Bag of trash in hand, and tied this time, so she could dump it on their way out. She flinched as the ball hit the window, expecting a shatter and another mess... but nothing came. She let out a releived sigh, much oposite to Thom's opinion of the window.
She blinked at the ball, "Sou!" She smiled upon seeing the patternd ball, "Sokka... In Japanese. Soccar?" she repeated the more englishy version of the word, somehow morphing it into a mix of the two. Stumbling mostly on the double cs, and then holding the r a tad too long. "Mn. Football." She smiled, finding that word alot easier than the other. Thomas Brinley "Then y' do know of it!" Thom positively beamed, giving the ball a lazy spin on one fingertip and dropping it back to the ground. "I'd thought you must. Bit ridiculous if you 'adn't, eh?" Stepping forward, he swiped the trash bag from her grip and moved to deposit it on the ground against the wall of the duplex. Returning to the soccer ball, he lightly kicked it over to her, quirking a brow. "So, now that y' know what it is, ever played?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled, seeming to pick up some of Thom's cheer about the subject. "Yes." she agreed to the latter statement with a bit of a laugh.
She blinked as the trash was taken, "My..." she paused, losing her cheery attitude for a moment, "My old friend. He used to play." she swallowed hard, forcing her smile back as Thom returned. It wasn't hard to catch on that this meant they were going to play. "I have never played... But I know the rules." She bit her lip as the ball rolled over to her, cautiously kicking it back. "Sorry!" she squeaked when it went a bit faster than she had expected, but atleast it had still gone back to the man. Thomas Brinley "All of my close friends played," he replied off hand, smile faltering momentarily. However, almost immediately he fixed it back into place, even laughing at her exclamation and easily reclaiming the ball, kicking it back to her at about the same speed she had sent it to him. "It's a start, anyway. Not like we can play a real match with just th' two of us, after all. An' don't worry about kickin' it too 'ard, alright?" he insisted, laughing. "I've 'ad worse." Natsumi Tanaka Friends... Her smile stayed, although a bit more sad. She knew better than to ask about them, simply focusing on the game at hand. She nodded to what he said, keeping her eyes on the ball as it returned to her, flipping her foot to the side to stop the ball like she'd seen others do in their games. "Aa!" she piped happilly when the move worked, rather entertained by the simplest things. "It worked!" she cheered aloud to herself, then kicked it back to him, a bit more controlled this time. Thomas Brinley "Well done," he praised, amused, and mimiced her motion to stop the ball as it reached him. After sending it back towards her with anoher easy kick, he struck up the conversation once more. Football was a good ice breaker. "'Ow long've you been 'ere, then? I didn't know someone actually lived upstairs." Natsumi Tanaka She caught it with her foot again, stumbling some when it tried to roll off to the side and excape her grasp. It was so hard not to just grab it... But that was against the rules, so she held back. Once she was sure she had secured it, she kicked it back, looking a bit more at ease with atleast doing that much. "How long..." she echoed, trying to remember an actual date. "A little over a month..." she was almost suprised at it herself, in a way it seemed to have gone by so fast. And on the other hand, it also seemed to have been the longest month of her life. Thomas Brinley "That long?" He seemed just as surprised as she did, stopping the ball with his foot for the moment. "You must've arrived shortly after I did. I'm surprised we 'aven't met b'fore." He paused, watching her thoughtfully, then chuckled and snapped back to the present, punting the ball so that it would pass a good few feet to her side. "Let's make this a bit more interesting." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi nodded in agreement, "I am too.." it really was odd that they lived right next to eachother and neither had noticed. Bad timing, she guessed. She was caugh toff-guard by the movement of the ball, only noticing it before it was too late and starting to pass her. She squeaked, running after it, catching up when the duplex wall stopped it. "O-Okay!" she responded, slightly preoccupied with how to get the ball away from the wall without using her hands. Those were the rules afterall, no hands. With her arms out to her side for balance, she stood on one foot using hte other to try and get behind the ball and pry it out. It worked, sending the ball at a slow roll foreward, in which she was able to get behind it and lightly tap it foreward. She smiled, pleased with herself, then returning her attention to Thom waiting to see if he had any specific instructions before she kicked it back. Thomas Brinley He chuckled softly as he bustled off after the ball, lazily shifting from one foot to the other as he watched her plight from where he stood. He laughed aloud as she struggled to retrieve the ball, meaning no harm by the gesture--it was just funny. Poor girl. "You can pick it up if y' need to, Natsumi," he explained once she returned, smiling. "This isn't a real game. We don't even 'ave goals. But we could make it more like a game, if y' wanted?" Natsumi Tanaka The fact he had laughed hardly phased her, it was always good to make people laugh after all. "Really?" she looked at her hands, then the ball. Well, even if she could she figured it'd be best to get used to not doing so. "That is okay. I will not use my hands." she smiled, rather enjoying herself. "A real game? I try to get it past you then?" that was the most basic point of the game. Get the ball past the other person.
Without waiting for much of an answere, she scooted the ball to her right, moving with it to give it a good kick, trying to get it past his left side. It wasn't as hard a kick as she could have, but she didn't want to send the ball flying off into god knows where. Thomas Brinley "If you insist," he replied with a shrug. If she wanted to play balancing acts trying to get the ball from tight spots, far be it from him to stop her. At her question, he nodded, glancing around for marks they could use as goals. "Yes, that's th' basic id--" Her quick movement caught his attention and, on instinct built from long practice, moved to intercept the ball as it was kicked out to his side. Capturing it with relative ease, he started towards her carefully dribbling it from foot to foot, challenging her to take it from him with a look only to evade with a quick spin and wind up behind her, walking backwards while dribbling the ball once more. "Come get it." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi laughed a bit as he caught the ball, sure she hadn't gotten it past him.. but she had still caught him off guard enough to interupt his sentance.
She shifted her stance some for better balance when he started for her, expecting something, though not quite sure what. For a second, she thought she coul dhave gotten the ball from him.. but then in a quick movement he was behind her. "Hey!" she piped, spinning around. "Not fair." She grinned, loooking much more at ease than she ever had before.
The thought occured that women shouldn't play sports... The reason she had never played before, but Thom didn't seem to care at all. It was a refreshing release of steryotpyes, which was the main reason she looked so relaxed. Thomas Brinley "Ah, but it's perfectly fair!" He argued good naturedly, continuing backwards and away. "I'm supposed t' be gettin' it past you, aren't I? No one said I 'ad t' kick it th' whole way." Thom flashed a grin in response, pleased that she was finally relaxing and enjoying herself. The poor girl had seemed rather terrified earlier on--or, at least, self conscious and easily embaressed. On an island where people were turning into animals, there was no need whatsoever for that sort of behavior. Much less around a man who spent most of his free time back home challenging friends to make fools of themselves--or vice versa. Natsumi Tanaka Well, there wasn't much arguing that logic... So she settled for a simple joking whine. "Mouu... Still..." Without going any further she tried again for the ball, missing once more.
It wasn't hard to lose track of time in their game. A few hours had passed, the crickets were starting up and it seemed as though their light was starting to fade. Natsumi slowed to a stop, looking up as though the rest of the world had just become apparent to her. "Aa, The sun is leaving..." she mumbled, almost to herself as she tried to catch her breath, suprised at just how much time had managed to pass. Thomas Brinley Time flies when you're having fun, as the saying goes. The same was certainly true for the night. Thom had hardly noticed the fading lightly until Natsumi spoke up. Slightly out of breath himself, he let the soccer ball roll to a halt, pausing in step and glancing around at the darkening sky. "...Huh. What d'you know," he mused aloud. After a moment he glanced over to Natsumi, grinning only slightly apologetically. "Sorry f' keepin' you." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi averted her gaze from the sky, shaking her head as Thom apologized. "No! I had fun!" she reassured, voice slightly risen from the fact she was still slightly excited from the game and the fact she hadn't fully caught her breath. "Can we play later? And you can teach me that thing..." she gave a little spin to demonstrate what she was talking about... Too many times had he seemed to magically just appear behind her. She gave a light laugh, grinning ear to ear. "Please?" She added in as a second thought, trying to regain her 'lady-like composure' and failing. Thomas Brinley "Brilliant!" Grin considerably more genuine, he retrieved the soccer ball and stepped over to her, laughing. "I'd be 'appy t' teach you," he promised, tucking the ball under one arm. "An' we can play whenever you'd like. Lord knows there's nothin' better t' do on this blasted island." His expression clouded briefly, but his smile soon returned. "Tell y' what, I'm supposed t' be gettin' a tape of th' Football World Cup from th' labs soon. I can hunt y' down when it arrives if you'd like t' watch as well?" It seemed like something she would enjoy, after the hours spent playing that day. And it would be an easy way to explain the 'spin thing'. Natsumi Tanaka As they say, laughter's contagious. Natsumi chuckled some as she met him halfway, smile widening as he promised to teach her his fancy move. She clasped her hands together in excitment, "That's great, thankyou!" She paused her merry-making to listen as he spoke once more, she'd heard something of the world cup. She'd never seen it, but it was obviously the big championship thing for football. She quickly nodded, "I would love that." She seemed to have a bit of a skip in her step as they moved back towards their duplexes while talking. Thomas Brinley Still chuckling softly, he walked with her back to the foot of the stairs. "Brilliant. I'll let y'know when it shows up, then." He paused, glancing up the stairs towards her duplex, then, chuckling softly once more, gestured her up the stairs with a sweeping wave. "Watch y' step. I'll get rid of that trash for you in th' mornin'." Natsumi Tanaka "Okay." she turned to start up the stairs, frowning at the bits of garbage that remained... As though he read her mind he was mentioning it, "Oh no... You don't have to..." She didn't feel there was going to be much stopping it, it just depended on who got there first. So mentally noting she needed to beat him to clean-up duty, she continued her way, giving a wave back to him. "Goodnight!" she called down, then hurrying up the rest of the stairs.. eager to get that shower that seemed to be calling to her after the game of football. Thomas Brinley "I 'ave t' take out my own anyway. It's no trouble," he insisted, shaking his head. Once she reached the top of the stairs, he returned the wave, echoing her good night before heading into his own duplex for a shower of his own before bed.

. razz a** the cud, please?:. Natsumi & Ian Ian Campbell Ian hobbled into the cafeteria and grimaced. He hated having to use a cane, it was such a pain. And for the millionth time since his change he wondered why he had to have the misfortune of a bad transformation. At the counter he eyed the selection of salads and fruit before loading his plate with an oriental looking salad (vegetarian of course), and grabbing an apple juice. Somehow maanaging to balance his plate on a single hand/hoof he sat down at the nearest table, hunching over his food due to his thicker neck and chest. Life sucked right now, and he figured that perhaps he had to stop being so self conscious, after all, other people were turning into worse things, though that didn't cheer him up much. Natsumi Tanaka Crunchy, Crunchy... Her mind repeated at her, leading her to the cafeteria to find something to fill that sudden craving. Though a few bugs on the way over had once again seemed appealing, those urges were pushed aside, and the sight of the salads seemed much more pleasing.
Eagerly she wandered over to the selection, nabbing a plate and piling on a variety of fruits and veggies, piling it up a bit higher than it looked like someone her size would need, and then topping it off with one of the tarter sauces.
Finished, she hurried away from the set-up, worried she might get in someone's way if they were going to chose. Next.. seating... She scanned over the area, fairly used to the way the islanders looked now... It suprised her how fast she had gotten used to it, save for Colche. Ian Campbell Ian watched from the corner of his eye as the female entered the cafeteria. Looking at her he decided that he had never met her before. Reclusive as he was, there were lots of people he had never met, even ones that had been around to change at least a few times. He watched as she gathered food, eating his salad awkwardly with a fork he could barely hold decently. It seemed she was into vegetables as well. Swallowing the bite he was chewing Ian hesitated before speaking. "If you um. . .want company, you can sit over here." Perhaps the deer was craving some company, he hadn't seen many people since his latest change. Natsumi Tanaka "Hm?" she smiled some as a voice caught her attention, eagerly taking the invitation she almost skipped over to get herself a seat infront of the deer man. She tried to refrain from staring as she tried to place what animal he was, but that had almost become a hobby as she saw each person.. She wasn't a big animal fannatic, so it was always a fun thing when she knew one and.. she was fairly sure she knew this one.
"Thankyou." she quickly added, before taking a small bite out of her own food... While she was hugnry, it would be impropor to take too big of bites therefore she stuck to the tiny ones. She'd eventually finish it no matter how she ate it.. so no need to rush. And it was definatly nice to have clothed company. "I'm Tanaka, Natsumi..." Her japanese accent always seemed to shine through every time she introduced herself.. Perhaps it was the fact she had been so used to saying it back home. Ian Campbell Ian blicked at her accent. He could tell she was Asian, but could not place her heritage being the sheltered American guy he was. And the way she introduced himself. . .he wasn't sure, but didn't sometimes some Asian people introduced themselves with their family name first. So was her name Natsumi, or Tanaka? He didn't know enough about her or Asian names to tell. "Er, I am Ian Campbell" He didn't try to reach out to shake her hand. He knew enough to know that that would be foreign to her maybe. "Forgive my asking, but do you know what you are becoming?" There was nothing familiar to him in her features that he could place to an animal. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi swollowed her last bite of food as he spoke, smiling some to show she didn't mind the quesiton. "I am unsure... But..." She held out her arm to show off the scales "I also have a tail. And a strange thing on my feet..." She looked to the table as though she could see through it and her shoes to the whatever it was that had appeared on her feet.
Though now that he had asked her.. he surely wouldn't mind her asking a simmalar question. "And you... A... Uhm. Deer, yes?" English words for animals had eluded her buisness training, and she seemed a bit worried that she may have mixed up some words. Ian Campbell Some sort of reptile. Of course, the labtechs seemed fond of reptiles. "yeah, a deer." though he had never been formally told, Ian had been reading books and figured out what type he was becoming. "I have a tail, though it is very small." He wondered briefly how the other people could handle having a longer tail and his ears twitched because he could not picture himself having a longer tail. "Except my last change went weird." he gestured to the cane resting against the table. "One of my legs changed more than the other so I can't walk properly." He hated it, he wanted to be able to walk properly again, even if it meant another change. Natsumi Tanaka The tail had become cumbersome... rolling over on it in her sleep always hurt, and other various mistakes that had be fallen the poor thing. It wasn't a very mobile tail, just sat or hung there for the most part.
Natsumi nabbed another bite of salad as she listened intently, frowning as he reached the part about his leg. "Aa... That is unfortunate." Though it didn't sound as though she cared, she honestly did. The look on her face showed a bit more than her words. "Perhaps... Lift under foot? I mean..." she frowned, finding no word for what she wanted to say. "My brother had one once to fix the way he had stood." She held her hand up, holding it flat in the air "His foot..." she explained, then placed her other under it. "Then lift."
She settled her hands to her lap, waiting to see if what she was trying to say would get through. Yay for language barriers... Still, she was more than happy for them. It helped inprove on her language. Ian Campbell Then Ian understood a bit. He had wrongly assumed that everyone Moreau brought in would understand English, but Natsumi (he had decided since it became obvious that English was not her best language) was still learning. He hoped he hadn't said anything that she wouldn't understand, but if she didn't understand she would say so, right? "I have a cane." In fact, the deer-man didn't even know the proper name for something that would lift the foot or leg. "Besides, Dr. Lockheart" (he hoped she knew who Aubrey was) "said that it should be fixed when I change again." Natsumi Tanaka "Ah, That is good." she smiled, she was fairly good with english... as long as one stuck to buisness terms. Her training had stayed specified to that, and not things like animals or things for your shoes. Perhaps if she had her dictionary with her she would have faired better in the awkward territory.
She Took another bite, then a sip of the water she had nabbed as well. Her mind tried to find a new bit of conversation.. something she was more familiar with. "Why did you come to the Island?" Yes, that would do... Ian Campbell The deer frowned. He had realized that the reason he came to the island was completely stupid. Had he just stayed at home he would have been still working at a grocery store, he might have gotten a girlfriend, he would still be able to talk to his younger brother who would have just finished his first year of law school. Without thinking, he gave an answer, but it was cryptic and Natsumi might not understand. "I came here because of what I was told it was. I thought it was something I wanted, but coming here taught me that even what I had thought I wanted wasn't really what I wanted." He'd been there for about 10 months, and during that time he had grown to know himself and for the first time in his life, get real friends. It made him wonder that if he hadn't come, would all this have happened? "Why are you here?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi paused, eyes drifting to her food. It took her a second to get it, but it probably would have done so for anyone, forign or not. Maybe later it would hit home a bit more, but for now only so much would regester as familiar. Despite her more recent birthday and graduation she was still just a teenager.
She nodded a bit to what he said though, to show she had indeed understood it, atleast on a verbal level. "I came for a job as a translator. But..." Her eyes moved over the scales on her arms. "I got a little more than I.. bargained for..." it was an old saying she had picked up from tourists, and she only hoped she'd said it right... The questioning tone of her voice towards the end showed that vauge nerviousness towards the end. Ian Campbell Translating. His reasons weren't so noble. He had come because he was selfish. Ian knew the saying and he grinned hearing it from the Japanese girl. "I haven't heard that phrase in a long time." He hoped his deerish smile was reassuring and took another bite. When he swallowed, he spoke again: "How long have you studied English?" She was really good, almost better than himself likely. "And where are you from?" he also found himself asking. His father was Vietnamese, but Ian had looked nothing like him. Only his younger brother had looked like he was related to an Asian. His father also spoke English all the time even to the extent of taking his wife's last name when he married an American girl. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi wouldn't ever state her real reason for coming... Her real reason was rather selfish, though she told herself it was to keep from shaming her family... it was only to keep form shaming herself. Either way it was her secret... Only the doctors knew.
She smiled when the saying was reconized, a bit outdated but reconized none the less. She took another bite, twirling her fork in the remaining salad as she continued their conversation. Vaugly noticing how wonderful it was to speak to people again... Dressed people. "I learned some from tourists where I lived... the rest I learned in school. 8 years..." She tried to remember, it surely hadn't been 8 years straight... but she had focused on it. "I learned some german also."
She took another sip of water, "I am from Japan." she figured she wouldn't go into towns and regions unless he asked. Ian Campbell "8 years is a long time." Ian didn't think he could ever study one subject for 8 years. He was enjoying himself talking to Natsumi and he drank the last of his apple juice. And she was from Japan. That was good enough for Ian. "I'd never left the states. Born in Minnesota, I later moved to New Jersey." He wondered if she knew what he was talking about, but he hadn't ever talked to anyone else about where he was born before. "If this island isn't in the US, this is my first time out of the country." And I am stuck here forever, not how I thought I'd visit other countries, he couldn't help but think with a wry smile on his face. "The helicopter ride was scary. I don't like flying." Natsumi Tanaka She nodded some, 8 years probably was a long time... Atleast she had other subjects mixed in with it. "I hadn't left until I came here... I did get to see.. Florida, I think... That was on my way here." she pondered over the history of her trip... It had been a really miserable one. She hardly got time for any food, and got more nausious than she ever had been in her life, and then it was off to the island for the first time meeting her new employers. If they were still her employers she was unsure...
"I got sick on most of the trip..." she sympathized, it had been her first time flying and not a fun one. So she figured she didn't like it either, though she might have if situations had been different. Ian Campbell Ian grimaced as she said she got sick. Since becoming a deer he had new ideas on what was 'sick' and not. He had to 'barf' up his food everyday as part of digestion, so he no longer considered that sick, though it was probably the sick that Natsumi was describing. "I never traveled because I was busy working." His parents had been the same way. After his father had died his mother worked all the time to support her and the two children, and when he dropped out of high school he had started working to help her out. But his mind kept wandering back to her getting sick on the flights and he resisted making a comment about turning into a deer. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi wouldn't have known what he was talking about if he had mentioned it, she had heard something of cows having more than one stomach but other than that she was naive in the ways of herbavore's eating habits.
"My family had wanted to see America... We were never able to leave the city though." She smiled some, looking towards her food with a hint of saddness in her expression. She missed them already, though she'd never say anything. She didn't feel she had anything to compare to the other islanders here. She took another bite, noticing the bottum of her bowl was growing closer. Ian Campbell Ian could understand not wanting to talk about the past much so he searched his mind for other topics, the first coming to mind being other islanders. "So, have you met. . ." he searched his mind for a name. "Colche? She is turning into a cheetah. Nice girl, but she doesn't really understand the concept of clothing." Natsumi Tanaka "Colche?" Natsumi echoed, the name sounded familiar.. Clothing. Thats when it hit her. Natsumi flushed a bit, almost looking guilty. She quickly stuffed another bite of salad into her mouth, giving a nod to say she had met her.
After a few moments of chewing, she swallowed, deciding to add something more than a nod. "Yes, she was nice..." Ian Campbell Ian nodded absently, not noticing that Natsumi didn't seem at ease speaking of Colche. He was too busy trying not to regurgitate his salad. It would be very rude, and disgusting to the girl eating by him. It was a losing battle. He couldn't stop it forever. Grabbing his empty (when had that happened?) plate he quickly hobbled over and took care of it forgetting in his haste that he had a cane. As he passed the table again he grabbed it and clenched it in his hand with a pained look on his face. "perhaps. . .perhaps we could talk another time. I have a certain. . .affliction that comes with being a deer that prevents me from lingering any longer." He swallowed and felt his stomach (or one of them) clenching. "Another time definately." He smiled briefly and hobbled out of the cafeteria before Natsumi had time to reply. He would apologize the next time they met, when he would explain why he left so suddenly. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi finished her last bite, watching as Ian left, then came back for the cane. She looked a bit lost as he left, but offered a wave and a half hearted "Okay" as he dissapered through the doors.
She shrugged it off, something about being a deer. She wasn't sure if it was something she should have known or not, but either way.. it was getting late, and she was done eating.
She stood, cleaning up her area, before heading outside and back to her room, mentally deciding she'd have to try and meet more people and make the most out of being here.

.:Blah Blah Blah PORK:. Natsumi & Alec Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi held her hand over her mouth as she yawned, free hand used to push open the doors to the cafeteria. Her hands quickly returned to fuss over that mostly unnoticable swell of her stomach, but it seemed like it was only getting larger every day... Today, she wore a baggy sweater and one of her cute knee-length skirts, todays theme was bunnies.
Almost looking caustious, she glanced around the cafeteria, brushgin a lock of hair from her face and moving foreward to see what strange new food was on todays menu. "Omlette..." she read over the specials menu, she vaugly remembered having some of those back home. Carefully grabbing her pre-made one and nabbing herself a seat to enjoy the meal.
Her mind breifly wandered over the new people she was meeting.. feeling a bit more comfortable with the island was nice. Maybe she would get to see one of them for breakfast? Or someone new. Alec Derring Tired from his escapades at the beach the day before, Alec was about ready to refuel at the cafeteria for his most cherished meal of the day. He could already smell the cooked eggs before he even entered through the doors to the cafeteria, heading atraight for the food counter as if there was somesort of line up to beat. He could see the omelettes, but he wanted meat.
"Aye..." He remarked when he finally turned towards the eating area with a stackful of sausage and a lil bowl of fruit. He didn't recognize the woman sitting ther and assumed she wouldn't mind company as he sat himself down at the same table. He'd brought a fistful of napkins as well, so as to save himself from the embarassment his funny teeth often caused while attempting to eat. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi had been bussy fiddling with the somewhat messy food, apparently having trouble picking out a small bite with her fork and knife, the cheese seemed to be giving her the most problems... and in the mean time, as the cheese ran rampid a few other filligns would excape and she'd have to stuff them back in with her fork.
She almost jumped when she heard a voice, she'd been so preoccupied in her omelette fight.. "Good morning." she smiled, cheerfully, the smile only widening as she seemed to free herself a bite and eagerly stuffed it in her mouth. Alec Derring The teen made himself comfort as he prepared to dig into his pile of food, readying the utensils and properly positioning the plate on the table. "Top o' th'mornin teh'ye." He responded contently as well, more of a joke than a serious greeting he'd often used.
"Yanno, a' keep tellin 'em t'make mo' sausages n' th'mornin. A' 'ate eggs, they make me sick n' th'gut." He went ahead and mumbled to the stranger about his quams with the caf lady, not minding that she was unfamiliar. In a place like this, he considered everyone a friend or possibly a sibling until proven otherwise, even if he didn't know their names yet. "Unless theh scrambled o' somethin." The last comment was uttered low in mid-bite as he dug in. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled anyways, missing the joke completely. She'd heard many accents growing up, many sayings.. and most of the ones she picked up were now far out dated.
She stopped fidgeting with her food as he spoke, almost getting aclueles slook as she tried to pick the words out of his different speach... It was good though, practice makes perfect right? She caught Telling make sausages in the morning... hate.. eggs... and that they make him sick in.. something. She tried to look more interested than confused, she nodded to say she got it, a habit she'd picked up since some people would try and slow down their speach for her.
She gave a few picks at her food, starting to cut off another bite. "I do not think I've ever cooked... sausage." She had probably done something simmalar, but "sausage" in paticular didn't ring a bell. Alec Derring Alec watched her curiously as she calmly nodded, looking attentive to his mumblings though he was unsure if she was truly listening or not. He didn't really mind, he had an audience. "Neh?" The mohawked youngster blinked, wondering how exactly it was possible that someone on the planet hadn't made a breakfast link before. Who was he kidding, she was eating an omlette for cripe sakes.
"No' a brunch weineh? Sausage link?... 'ot dog?" Man, could he go for a hotdog right about now. Hell, he could probably make one up if he really had to though the degree of charring was obviously unpredictable. "Wha' meat d'ye eat fo' breakfast then? Ye from some..." He stopped midsentence to wave his hands in the air in some exaggerated motions. "... weird... place o' somethin?" Natsumi Tanaka A dog? Was that a racist joke? Her head was slowly tilting to the side as she tried to catch up --Wait. HOT dog! She immediatly perked up, as though she'd just figured out the multimillion dollar question on a game show. "Hot dog! Yes. I have not cooked one, but I have had one. Pork... yes?" She paused a moment, eyes drifitng up in a thoughtful mannor...
She seemed excited over the fact she had figured out what he was talking about. "Pork... Hm. I have made Tonkatsu, and Minudaru... Rafuti, Sooki...Kuubuirichi..." she tapped her fingers while trying to remember any more "Aa, and Deekuni." She let out a breath, smiling cheerily once more. "Most was at school, or for the shrine." With that, she took another bite, trying to drop back into a more.. submissful conversation on her part. Alec Derring Alec nodded, though he was a bit confused now. "Po'k? Well... ye, a' guess i's made ou' o' p-" He was silenced as Natsumi promptly went into a proud rendition of a resturaunt menu, rhyming off words or dishes or something with excitement. He stared dumbly, interested, but truly lost.
"Ye.... ye los' me at po'k, luv." The teen mumbled admittedly, stuffing a piece of cantalope in his mouth and downing it with more sausage. "Wheh did ye say ye were from?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi was left with a blank smile at.. whatever he said. The only thing she caught was love, and that didn't make any sense. They were tlaking about food, not relations... Unless he loved pork? Maybe that was it... Wait she hadn't said where she was from, had she? Once again, slightly confused, she shrugged it off "Japan." she repsonded simply, deciding again not to go into regions and countries unless they actually asked... And she didn't feel like this man would ask. She promptly took another bite, dwindling down her omelette... It was a good reason to stay quiet for a few moments though. Alec Derring "Ooooh..." Alec gawked at the answer that he'd finally understood clearly. "Tha' makes sense." For some reason he got the impression she was feeling a little awkward, perhaps out of her element. There was nothing he could do really, but be as polite as a rambunctious teenage male could be.
"'Am Alec by th'way." Natsumi Tanaka She hardly wanted anyone to be anything but themselves. She'd often start picking up the accents of thsoe she spoke with, and if they spoke too slow then she'd start to as well. Then again, Alec's accent wouldn't be good ot pick up no matter how he said it, but she didn't think about that. She was still a teenager at heart, only worrying aobut making a good impression for the moment.
"I am Natsumi." She nodded, bowing her head some. She'd finally gotten the hang of saying her name the american way... it felt wierd, but atleast it would keep from confusion. "Where are you from?" it always seemed best to repeat questions back... good conversation for reasons no one would ever know. Alec Derring "Nice t'meet ye." He nodded in return to her formal introduction, taking the opportunity to slug down half of his glass of orange juice to spare him some time. "Uh... 'am from Ireland." He kept it simple as well for the sake of easy understanding. Hopefully she would have heard of the country before.
"Are ye new 'ere? Y'look changed, a' must've missed ye aroun'." Natsumi Tanaka "Nice to meet you." She echoed, almost feeling bad she had forgotten to say it. Not that it seemed to matter too much in english she still would feel bad not to. Ireland? She nodded some. She'd heard of it... Some kids were talking about men in skirts... other than that she'd only heard of it during her geography classes. And he wasn't wearing a skirt... right? She hadn't quite gotten a glimpse, and she wasn't about to duck under the table just to see.
"Yes. I just arrived about a month ago. " she paused to look over the scales that were creaping out of her sweater's sleeve as though she'd forgotten about them. "Oh.. yes. A.. reptile. I'm not sure what kind yet..." Speaking of sweaters... She'd long ago noticed just how warm it was out... and how a sweater had been the most unappropriate attire for the island's climate. Still, it hid her pudge. Alec Derring Alec nodded, noticing Natsumi's shyness towards her outward appearance and ignoring it, making it look like his breakfast was much more important at the time. "A' know a few lizehds 'round 'ere, ye'll fit 'n." He felt obligated to attempt to sound reassuring, not that she looked like she needed it. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi blinked, somewhat taken off-guard by the comment. Fit in... She smiled some a thte idea, that'd be nice. It was, after all, every teenagers greatest ambition to 'fit in.' "Thank you." she mumbled some, placing another bite in her mouth.
Then it occured to her that she hadn't quite figured out what he was... It had almost become a hobby of hers to try and test her limited animal knowlage and pinpoint each islander's animal. It almost made the whole 'hey you're a mutant' thing enjoyable. She tried to make it as unnoticable as possible as she tried to grab a pinpointing feature, but alas... she wasn't animal-savvy enough to pick up the subtle hints. Alec Derring Alec was nearly finished with cleaning his plate of all things edible, even picking at the bits of fruit that'd evaded his fork. He could feel her eyes on him somehow, scanning him over and over though he was convinced it wasn't somesort of malicious gesture of judgement. She didn't seem the type.
Despite all this, her curiousity was beginning to make him feel uncomfortable and upon attacking the last few crumbs of food, he grasped his dish as if he was about to leave. "If anehthin'," He continued with his last thought. "ye'll get boh'ed eventualleh." The teen snickered to himself and made as if he was contemplating the action of leaving now as well. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi jerked her eyes away when he spoke again, flushing some when she realized just how long she'd been staring. She only hoped he hadn't noticed, since staring was fairly rude... And it seemed to be even moreso on this island.
It took her another moment to get what he said... First sticking on anything, and then bored... It had started as the word boat in her mind, then slowly progressed into a board... and then more easily going to bored. She shook her head as soon as it clicked, "No, no... There are alot of good things here. There are fun people... I do not think I would get bored." she offered a smile, intending for him to be listed in that fun people catagory for whatever reason. Alec Derring He smiled at her optimism, always enjoying the moments he'd meet someone on the island who were truly happy people. "S'good." He smiled, letting his teeth show. Despite her odd references to her foreign culture and overall reserved nature, he didn't think this lady was bad at all. Even though their conversations were a little muddled, it made for plain and simple meal-talk.
"Anyways," The teen heeved himself out of his chair, now fully intent on heading back to his duplex to relax rather than retreat from Natsumi, like he'd intended before. "Imma 'ead back t'me place. Forteh-woon, in case ye eveh need anehthin! see ye 'round, aye?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi freed another bite, placing it in her mouth just before he stood. She listened, quickening her chewing so she could say goodbye when it became apparent he was getting ready to leave. Although she had no idea what this aye was... It sounded alot like the 'ne' she was familiar with... Meaning, he must have been asking for confirmation. "Yes, I am in 46." she offered with a smile, and a wave, before finishing up her own meal.

.:I'm sure it's just water weight...:.
Natsumi frowned at the figure looking back at her from the mirror... If the pudge had only been noticable in her mind before now it seemed like a mountian had spurted forth from her stomach. Sooner than she had expected... Her eyes trailed over the kanji and hirigana of the magazine she had stowed away before she left. The pages were getting worn, and a few had allready fallen out, but it was none the less useful. She shouldn't be this big yet... Unless she had gotten pregnant earlier than she had predicted.
Frowning some she moved back to her bag, digging out a familiar red pen and a calander marked with minature bunnies, puppies, kitties and all sorts of furry creatures. She flipped back a few months, circling a different week, and then foreward. This means it's due... here. she circled another day in December, then quickly tucked the two items back where she had got them and joining them was the magazine she'd been reading.
She stood to continue her morning ritual of hair brushing and other primping, all the while worring about how she was going to hide her stomach. It was definatly too hot for a sweater... It didn't seem like she had much choice...

.:Lost in Translation:. Natsumi & Sabin Duvert Part 1 Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled some as she finished drying her hair.. everything was perfect for the day, and now.. to get down to buisness. She was starting to feel a bit bad for how long she'd put off her job here. She headed to the intercom "Just press 0..." she mumbled to herself, finding the number and tapping it, settling herself on the bed to wait and see what happend. Quote: A few moments later a tired-sounding male voice drawled out, "Feral Laboratories... How can I help you?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shifted nerviously as a voice came foreward, clearing her throat before speaking up "H-Hello, this is Natsumi Tanaka... I need to talk to someone about my job..?" she fumbled a bit for words, not exactly sure who she needed to talk to about such a thing. Sabin Duvert Before she was given much time to elaborate, and without a reply from the anonymous male, there was a series of clicking noises. Finally, an older voice, touched with a hint of a French accent spoke out over the intercom. "Dr. Duvert speaking. Miss Tanaka, I presume? What is this about a job?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi's voice seemed to lift some at the sound of a familiar name. She had met him when she first arrived. "Yes. Aa... I was told to wait a few weeks before I would need to start my job? The translator one?" Sabin Duvert "Ahhhhhhyesss..." The voice drew out. "The translator job." Despite English being Natsumi's second langugage, she was familiar enough with the tones to realize that the job she had been hired for was certainly the last thing on the Doctor's mind. He tapped his finger on the desk, considering. He didn't know of any Japanese labtechs who weren't fluent enough in English to work with. Her coverstory of the translator was just that - an excuse to bring her to the island when her records showed she would not be missed. The gears in Sabin's head grinded. He knew that any lie that would be entertaining enough to be worth it wouldn't last long.... but it would at least last longer than the outright truth that there was no job. "I'll see about getting you your first assignment soon, Natsumi. I believe that we have you down to translate some source material as opposed to working as an intrepreter, at least to begin with." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi cringed some at the tone, had they actually forgotten she had a job there? The thought that the whole job thing being a lie as she'd heard from many other stories vaugly occured to her, but she dismissed it... Why would Lockheart and Duvet lie to her...? She reasoned that they were too nice to have done that, and perhaps she had simply waited too long to get back to work for them to fully remember. She waited quietly for him to speak up again, shifting nerviously.. she frowned when her new tail moved behind her in anticipation. It was still hard to get used to the thing, even though it had been several weeks. Sabin spoke then, breaking her from her mild thoughts about the pains of having a tail. "Oh. Thankyou, that would be nice." She silently cheered at the fact she wouldn't actually have to go and see anyone. She'd likely get to work in her duplex... away from anyone who would notice the swell of her stomach. Sabin Duvert Sabin smiled, steepling his fingers and mentally congradulating himself on his mischivious plan. He was boggled that she still thought she was there for a job, but might as well enjoy the small deception as long as he could. "That's no problem at all, Miss Tanaka. I should be able to get the material out to you as early as this afternoon." It wouldn't be hard to find what he was looking for. Natsumi Tanaka "Alright, thankyou again. Goodbye." she smiled some, now that the job issue had been taken care of she could get onto finding breakfast.

A few hours later, a package would be left at Natsumi's doorstop.
It would be wrapped in brown paper and fairly nondescript.
When opened, a small note is attached to a few unmarked DVD cases.
Quote: Miss Tanaka, Here is the material that we require your translation skills for. They are a video media, so if you could provide a translated transcription, that would be most helpful. ~Dr. Sabin Duvert
There are three DVDs in total, each one will play on any DVD player.
Each one is a raw (unsubtitled or undubbed) Japanese Anime hentai.

.:Lost in Translation:. Part 2 "Haa...Yatta..." Natsumi cheered in a hushed voice to herself as she picked up the brown parcel, retreating back inside her duplex with it. Though it might have been strange, she always enjoyed working... It had made her feel useful back home, and the same was true here. If anything, it was nice to have something to distract her from the current "crisis" at hand... And she did miss hearing her own language, constantly worrying over her english gave her a headache. Worst was when she would speak to someone like Alec... She could hardly understand him through his accent.
She moved to her TV, placing the first disk inside the player and setting herself on the floor infront to watch. The screen clicked on, a womans voice speaking up over the activities going on. It was a hospital setting, many nurses in far too short and tight outfits performing normal nurse duties. Natsumi readied her pen and paper, jotting down what she could, some of the notes would end up deformed sentances, Natsumi would simply pause the tape and check over them. Welcome to Ryoka University hospital, I am Yuka, a nurse that works here... It is a has been hard work today, but one first shift is ending soon. This means the fun will start.
Natsumi smiled at her notes, the animation reminded her of the things her brother liked to watch. Cute girls with big eyes in short uniforms... yep. That was what her brother watched. With that, she hit play again. She watched as an older woman, apparently their senpai, instructed them to go take a bath for one of their patients.
Natsumi's smile faded at what happend next, in an instant the two girls were getting in what seemed to be a tub full of... milk? And.. well. Nothing was left un exposed. Her eyes widened and her face flushed, mind going 100miles an hour all of a sudden. Surely Duvert-sama wouldn't send her... Her spining mind screached to a flaming stop, freezing for a moment when sounds and sights overtook her TV. She couldn't seem to hit the stop button fast enough, and let out a tiny shriek as though it would stop the scene infront of her.
She was left sitting there, staring at a now blank screen, face beet red. Why on earth would those girls do that in a hospital? and... why had Duvert-sama wanted her to translate such a thing?! She let out a low whine, It must have been an accident... yes. An accident... Natsumi took a deep breath, flipping the notebook to a new page... She'd just have to try the next one, and calmly tell Duvert-sama he had misplaced the tape she was supposed to be translating.
Reluctantly, the next DvD was placed inside the player... Natsumi cringed when it came on, the same styped video as before. A woman's voice was once again talking, this time it spoke of a battle raging between man and the demons of the forest. Natsumi didn't bother to take notes, only stared ahead at the screen as it went on. However, what the image turned into was much more than the last had been.
If possible her eyes went even larger at the sight, she almost fell over backwards. At first it had been hard to figure out what was going on.. squishing and something long, but then it clicked into focus. "Aaa Na-nani--?!" She sputtered, "Eiga wa habit iya desu!" She couldn't help but start shouting at the TV as she hit stop, embaressment rushing over all her features. "Watashi wa eiga o hon'yaku suru ja nai!" She pulled the dvd from the player as fast as she could, she wouldn't even bother with the 3rd... Surely, Sabin had simply misplaced the dvds he was supposed to give her with the ones he was supposed to...
Natsumi flinched suddenlly as something hit her, his previous tone tieing in with this... There was no job. And this was just a cruel prank... She should have known better than to think someone who was turning her into a creature of this sort wasn't nice at all. "Baka da..." She mumbled towards the letter the man had sent her, not so much as mad as his actions than being embaressed for falling for them.
Natsumi frowned over the objects... 3 DvDs... In her room. The gears started turning once more, her face re-flushing. What if someone caught her with such things? "Aa..." she let out a squeak, quickly stuffing the items back into the box it came in, leaving only the note in her room. Then, clutching the open box close to her chest, she hurrie dout the door, quietly trying to slip down the stairs without the neighbor below her noticing... Then she could just chuck the objects in the jungle some where, "Shokubutsu to onna wa... Nn...habit iya desu." she shook her head as she mumbled, trying to clear the image that had burned into her mind.

.:Huzzah, Chivalry isn't dead! Wait...:. Natsumi and William
Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi had wandered over to the jungles edge, her face was flushed, and slightly teary eyed from some embaressment. Ontop of that the sweater she had used to hide her 4month pregnancy was incredibally hot and becomming more and more uncomfortable. She slouced slightly at the thick brush. She'd never seen anything like it before... And the noises that emitted from it were almost frightning. She gulped, moving foreward cautiously, staring at the plants as though they might try and eat her. It wasn't a few steps into the brush before she had caught her foot on something and was sent falling foreward, sending the box and dvds flying foreward in her reflex to catch herself. She shot her eyes to her 'attacker' finding only a simple vine, mentally noting to herself that she could trip on such things. She'd been in the forest back in japan, but you could see the ground there. Either way, she had a job to do... She tried to smile some, even though the day hadn't been that good so far, actualyl down right lousy, atleast it was about to be over, right? William Woodrow Billy was hurrying along the path, more nimble with his crutches with practice, especially with the added furvour of his recouperation and the drive of the call of his backpack still stashed out in his rock by the lake. A cigarette was clenched in his teeth out of the side of his mouth, trailing a long stream of oily smoke behind him like a charging tentacled steam engine. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi slowly pushed herself up from the ground, finding added difficulty in the extra weight focused at her stomach. Rising only to be met with the sight of.. something. Normally, the islanders hadn't bothered her... but after the video she just saw Billy's tentacles particularly stood out. For a moment she thought that the thing in the video had somehow come after her out in the spooky jungle, only leading to the woman letting out a shreik at the sight of the octopus-man. Her eyes going slightly wide, and her face bright red with a smudge of dirt on one side. She forgot the scattered Dvds for the moment. William Woodrow At the sound of the scream, Billy paused, his teeth clenching around the cigarette tightly as he glanced around to try to spot it's source, "Wha' bloody now?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi sputtered a moment, completely caught off guard she almost couldn't stop talking. "Onegai, watash..i..." she trailed off as her brain started to catch up, he wasn't a tentacle monster... just... another islander. Deep breaths. Natsumi inhaled deeply, then slowly let it out, getting up to her feet and switching over to english "I.. I am sorry..." she mumbled, chewing on her lower lip and looking incredibly embaressed. William Woodrow He stared at her through the trees from where he stood on the path, his brows furrowed and lips pursed about his smoke, "Wha' th'feck sor' o' language is tha'? Chinese?" What was this woman's problem? Even his earlier harassment of the poor janitor and the attempt to ressurect his garden hadn't slackened his current state of malcontent. The only thing he cared about just then lay in a bag under a rock. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi flinched a bit, bowing her head in her traditonal respectful way. "Sorry!" She repeated, fidgeting at the hem of her sweater. "I.. It is Japanese." he had asked afterall, it would have been rude not to answere.. atleast in her mind. Rhetorical questions were practically lost on her. "I..." she trailed off again, jerking her gaze to the filthy DvDs on the ground a few feet from her, then back to the man-thing on the trail ahead. "Aa..." she almost looked guilty as she practically jumped the three DvD disks, trying to gather them up and then shove them back into the box before the stranger caught a glimpse and thought she would actually watch such things. William Woodrow As Billy crutched towards her curiously, his eyes flickered down to the disgarded movies. While the language was nothing more than scribbled skwabble, the photos on the boxes were rather clear as to their content. His eyebrows raised further, "Oy! S'tha' naughty movies?" Natsumi Tanaka "Aa! N-No! I mean...Yes but..." if it were humanly possible, her face would have been glowing red. She looked up at him frustrated and embaressed, "I was a translator..." she muttered almost too pitifully. Perhaps she was overreacting, but the extra hormones could be blamed for that. William Woodrow One of his lower tentacles slipped around a box, snatching it up with a couple suckers to raise it up for his examination. "Where y'goin' wit' these?" Natsumi Tanaka She watched as the box rose out of her hands, cringing a bit at the tentacles when they got close to her... finding herself feeling bad for the cartoon lady that had an "encounter" with something simmalar. "I.. was goign to get rid of them." she blinked some, confusion overthrowing the original embaressment, not all too sure why he wanted to know where she was going with them. William Woodrow "Get rid o' 'em, eh? They no' any good?" Natsumi Tanaka "N-No. They are not good at all. They have discusting things..." Slowly she moved to her feet again, pausing to brush the dirt off her skirt. "And that poor woman..." William Woodrow His mouth twitched into a grin, his nostril flairing in his nervious tick, "Oh? Wha' sort o' discustin' things were they doin' t'th'poor woman?" Natsumi Tanaka Her hands rose over her mouth, giving a tiny squeak. She simply stared at him like that for a moment or two, before finally saying something. "T-things..." William Woodrow "I'll ge' rid o' these fer ye. If'n tha's wha' y'had wanted," he so graciously offered. Natsumi Tanaka "Really?" she blinked, finally someone nice... Willing to take such things away from her rather than trick her into watching them. "You would?" William Woodrow "Be more'n happy to, m'dear!" He grinned down at her, pulling out a fresh cigarette with a tentacle from somewhere about his person to light it off of the butt of the first. Natsumi Tanaka "Thankyou!" she beamed some, moving her hands away from her face. She didn't even blink at the cigarette. It had always been rather popular back in highschool, even though she never did it. William Woodrow Of course, there was something interesting about the way he smoked it with a tentacle. The pornogrophy collected in his tentacles, he turned on a crutch to leave. What else did he care for this little asian girl? She had screamed upon first seeing him, afterall. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shifted, feeling the need to say something but not finding anything appropriate. But before he could get too far, she decided somethign simple would do. "Oh I am Natsumi.. by the way... It was nice to meet you. Goodbye." He might have goten more than a scream if it had occured to her that he was also naked, but she had forgotten about all that by now, simply releived that she was free of those horrible things. She turned towards the trail, taking a second to figure out which way she needed to go to get back home, and rid herself of the sweater for something cooler.

.:Sweater? What sweater? Oh THAT sweater...:. Natsumi & Nita Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi slipped into the familair cafeteria, glancing around before moving foreward. Her hands protectivly settled over her larger-than-average stomach, as though that and the sweaters she had donned would hide it. Though the sweaters worked for the most part... The fact the island was a jungle, and it was summer time meant a horrible time for her. She'd even taken to wearing her shorter skirts to try and dim the added heat.
Atleast the cafeteria was cooler... She smiled some as she reached the food, grabbing a plate and starting to fill it. Just about everything looked good at the moment, and so by the time she finished filling her plate she had a big pile of assorted foods that didn't look like they'd go well together. Despite that, she was pleased with it.. and with the last thing needed; a glass of water, she was headed to grab a table and eat up. Nita MacNeal Nita padded into the cafeteria and acquired her now-typical plate of bamboo salad and a couple of hard-boiled eggs. Looking around with her tray, she spotted Natsumi. At first not realizing anything strange about her appearance (with people changing all the time, "strange" was practically an irrelevant term on the island), the red-head waved slightly as she took a seat at the same table. "You mind if I sit here?" she asked. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi looked up from her mess of food, taking but a breif second to reconize Nita through the added fur since the last time she'd seen her. "Nita!" she smiled upon realizing this, "Of course I do not mind, please sit. How've you been?" Natsumi took a bite of food as she waited for the answere, apparently the first item on her menu had been carrots dipped in ketchup. Nita MacNeal Nita's white brow raised at the ketchup-covered carrot. Perhaps it was some weird Japanese appropriation of American foods. Or just a dietary change from a transformation... Nita looked more closely at Natsumi and spotted the minor changes in the girl's face. "I've been.. alright," she said, digging into her salad. "Mostly sticking to my duplex and hanging out with a couple of people. How about you?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsmi nodded, listning as she finished the first carrot. "That is good. I have met a few people. And I played football with Thomas." She grinned some at that part, not having been able to play many sports back home. "It was fun. So.. I have been doing well." She gave a nod, leaving out the not-so-fun parts such as being tricked by Sabin, or the fact she was gaining several pounds in one area. Nita MacNeal "I've met Thom a couple of times," Nita said. "There was a big game of football a few weeks ago, with a bunch of the islanders. I didn't play, but it was fun to watch." She picked a few of the larger bamboo shoots out of her bowl, not bothering with a fork. It was actually the leaves that tasted the best to her, and made up the greatest portion of her salad, but the shoots were nice and crunchy as well. Nita leaned back in her chair, noting Natsumi's multiple layers. "Is the air-conditioning getting to you?" Natsumi Tanaka "Really? I would have liked to have seen that." Natsumi hadn't quite noticed just how many swigs of water she'd been taking, only now noticing as she went to grab another only to be met with very little liquid left. "Air conditioning..?" she blinked, looking a bit lost from the statement before remembering the sweaters. "Oh. Y-yes." She looked a bit uncomfrotable, not liking the fact she'd just lied to her friend. But what else could she do...? Certiantly not tell her. "I am going to get some more water, would you like anything?" She offered a smile as she scooted out of her seat, taking the cup with her. Nita MacNeal Nita took a sip from her own glass, which still had plenty of soda in it. "No thanks, I'm fine." She flashed a smile at Natsumi, idly watching her walk across the cafeteria. It seemed Natsumi had grown a tail, as well as maybe putting on a bit of weight around her middle. Almost as if she were... Pregnant. Ridiculous, Nita scolded herself. But still. It all made sense. The bizarre food, the bulky clothing to hide her figure... She tried not to stare at the girl, but with the idea in her head, she kept having to sneak little glances at her. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi smiled and nodded, heading off to fetch the water. It didn't take long for her to fill the glass up and move back to the table. She did take a bit more time than she could have to try and think of something that would distract her friend from the sweaters.. Some interesting subject to replace it.
She sat down, taking another gulp of water as she did. "I never knew just how complicated a tail could be..." she mused as she tried to reposition the little appendage to sit better, figuring Nita could sympathize with that. Nita MacNeal Nita nodded as she returned, working quickly to crack the shell and peel it off of a hard-boiled egg. She sprinkled a bit of salt on the top and bit into it happily. "It's true, they can be awfully trying at times," Nita agreed, a hint of laughter in her voice. "Good for balance though, even if it's hard to wear regular pants." Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi nodded, laughign lightly as well at Nita's comments as she finished off a few more ketchup-carrots. Then moved onto her next oddity, a hamburger with pickles and what seemed to be peanutbutter. Natsumi eyed it momentarily, not sure if it was still going ot be as good as she had originally thought. But after the first bite she lost that thought, continuing to eat it as cleanly as one could eating a peanutbutter and pickle hamburger.
"So..." she trailed off, eyes going wide for some invisible reason. After a second or two she shook it off. "S-So... Who won the football game?" Nita MacNeal Alright. A hamburger with peanut-butter was just disgusting. No way could that be chalked up to some strange animal's dietary habits. The red panda girl noted Natsumi's momentary facial change. Was she going to be sick? Nita fervently hoped not. Carrots and ketchup were gross enough going down; she didn't even want to think what they'd be like coming back up. "The team Thom wasn't on, actually. Ambrose, Rex, and Amaya were on the team. Don't know if you've met any of them. Amaya made an impressive goalie." Natsumi Tanaka "Really? That is too bad..." she pondered, Thom had seemed rather good when she played with him. She figured it must have been a rather impressive game. "No, i have not met any of them..." Natsumi gave a curious look, vaugly wondering just how many people she hadn't met yet.
She paused as she took another drink of water, regestering the odd look the hamburger had gotten. She smiled sheepishly, setting the glass down "It's not that bad, actually..." she took another bite, before letting out a soft "oh." and looking down. There it was again... Definatly not the whole morning sickness issue. But she wasn't really sure what it was... Maybe there was somethign wrong with eating carrots and ketchup? Nita MacNeal "They're all nice, although I've talked to Rex the most. Big guy, turning into a lion. You'd know him if you saw him. Amaya is an iguana, I think, and Ambrose is a wolf." Funny how easy it was to refer to other islanders by 'their' animal. Nita worked on peeling and eating the second egg, her salad finished. She just caught Natsumi's soft exclamation and looked at her warily. Please don't throw up! she begged mentally. "Are you okay?" she asked, clearly concerned. "Should you go lie down or something?" Natsumi Tanaka Nope, she definatly hadn't met any of those.. Though she might have seen one or two around, she wasn't exactly sure.
Natsumi shook her head smiling somewhat at Nita's worry, finding it nice in a way. It meant she cared. "No, I'm fine.. It's nothing. Just..." she frowned, tryign to find a word for the tingly fluttering feeling. Only managing to come up with waving her hand some. "..A srange feeling." She was quite clueless that it would relate to her baby when she said that, though slowly she seemed to be catching up to that as she spoke. Something she'd never felt before... The baby was bigger... She'd read somethign about kicking. So it was either the carrots.. or the baby. The latter seemed more likely. Upon realizing that she flushed some. Nita MacNeal If it had been almost any other young woman on the island, Nita might have asked her outright about her pregnancy. But Natsumi was such a quiet, private girl who actually reminded Nita quite a bit of herself. Particularly how reserved she was when she was still new to the island. "Queasy?" Nita suggested. "Fluttery?" She fiddled with her fork, growing increasingly more sure of her theory. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shifted uncomfortably, blushign slightly. She was being far too obvious.. If Nita caught on to that one thing she was surely to be caught. And then what would she think of her? She took a nervious bite of the food, fidgeting some. "Oh." she almost jumped the word fluttery, but then held back when she remembered she was trying to change the subject, not make it more obvious.
"Not queasy." she admited, smiling some... In the back of her mind, part of her was happy at the feeling. She wanted so much to put her hand over her stomach to doublecheck the sensation.. but she withheld, just hoping it woul dhappen again in privacy. Nita MacNeal "Well, at least you're not queasy," Nita said doubtfully, still messing with her fork. She bit her lip lightly and looked Natsumi right in the eyes. "I'm so sorry to intrude, but... Are you pregnant, Natsumi?" she asked softly, her voice full of concern. Hopefully the Japanese girl wouldn't take the question badly. Nita knew it was awfully personal. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi immediatly flinched, color rising to her cheeks as she held up her hands to block it, clapping them over her face as though it would turn her invisible. "I.. Yes... I am.. Horrible." She squeaked out, muffled. Not only was the initial shame of the whole thing suddenlly hitting her, but also the fact she had lied, or tried to lie. Perhaps it looked like she was overreacting to the American girl, but Natsumi had no idea exactly how common such a thing was.
After a second or two Natsumi meekly peered out from behind her hands to see just how upset her friend was at her. Nita MacNeal "Oh, Natsumi," Nita said helplessly, immediately scooting her chair closer to the girl. "Not horrible at all," she said, giving her a sympathetic look. She couldn't even think right then what might happen to the baby: Would it be changed as well? Would it even survive? The present moment was for Natsumi. Nita reached out to take Natsumi's hands, giving them a reassuring squeeze. She wasn't at all upset, but worried for her health. It didn't really occur to her than Natsumi had lied. She had withheld that particular information, but people were allowed their secrets. Natsumi Tanaka "Not horrible?" she echoed, looking both confused and releived. "You are... not ashamed of me? Not mad?" a cautious smile tugged at Natsumi's mouth as she allowed her hands to be moved away. Nita MacNeal "Not horrible," Nita repeated. "Why would I be angry or ashamed? It's your own business." She smiled and patted Natsumi's hands again. "When are you due?" It was actually kind of exciting to have a friend expecting a baby. Nita liked babies, although she had never really thought of having one herself. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi gave a light shrug, smile only widening.. though still a bit cautious to get too happy. She wasn't really sure as to why Nita would be mad... It just was. Afterall... Natsumi was single and pregnant, that was shameful enough in itself, then throw in your age...
Her thoughts were shooken at the question, "December." She nodded, it seemed so far away in a sense... Yet all too close at the same time. "Oh.." she jumped some, smile breaking through now that she could freely investigate the odd sensation that was happening again in her stomach. She averted her eyes from Nita, biting her lower lip and moving one hand out of her friends grasp, then sliping it under the bulky sweater curiously. "Aa....I think..." she trailed off, not sure if she was right or not. Nita MacNeal December. So... Nita did some mental math, figuring about how far along Natsumi must be. If she were about four months pregnant, she would just be starting to 'show.' She gave Natsumi an odd look. "Is.. Is the baby kicking?" she asked. That would explain the 'fluttery' feeling Natsumi mentioned. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi looked up a bit sheepishly, giving a tiny nod as she felt a little bump against her hand. "I think so." she couldn't help but get excited, sure there had been swelling and nausia and all sorts of things that flat out said you were pregnant... but, this was different. This was cool, those other things were.. well. Not cool.
Natsumi moved her hand, holding up the sweater some, normally she would have been opposed to showing off skin like that.. but this was different, there was a baby under all that skin. Which meant it was hardly skin at all now. "Would.. you like to...?" she wasn't exactly sure how to up and ask if someone wanted to feel her baby kicking... Seemed like an awkward question, but at the same time she wanted to share it. Nita MacNeal A tiny grin crossed Nita's face. She reached out one furred hand tentatively and gently laid it on Natsumi's belly. The little swell was much more obvious now that it was not covered by the lumpy sweater. There was a tiny fluttering movement under her palm. "Oh!" Nita exclaimed, excited. "I felt it!" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi let out a soft giggle, both excited herself and happy that Nita had responded so well... Perhaps it wasn't as bad a 'sin' as she had originally thought? Or.. atleast it wasn't one here. If her family had found out she felt it would be much less accepting.
"I am a little excited..." Natsumi admitted, pausing to nab that last bite of odd-hamburger that she had left and plop it in her mouth, rather happy that the annoying feeling of hunger was starting to subside. Nita MacNeal Nita grinned, showing her sharp, white teeth. "It's very exciting," she said nodding. "I'd never felt a baby kick like that before." She finished up her glass of soda. "Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" Natsumi Tanaka "No.. I don't." she blinked, curious to the answere now. She sat back some, letting her sweater drop back over the exposed flesh, taking another swig of water and letting her thoughts wander. "I should also think of a name, shouldn't I?" That would be tricky... Maybe she would name it after someone she left back home.. Or should she think of a whole new name? Nita MacNeal "That would be a good idea," Nita said, amused. She probably would have been thinking of names as soon as she'd found out she was pregnant. Not that getting pregnant was likely for her. Unless of course that was something else Moreau could do? She pushed the thought aside. Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi sipped at her water, pondering over various names.. ones for boys and ones for girls. Her food had been finished, leaving a slightly messy plate of remaining ketchup and a few bits of peanutbutter that had slipped free of the hamburger buns. "Any ideas...?" She took another sip of her water, suddenlly realizing both of them were practically done. Nita MacNeal "Hm.. Not really. I don't know very many Japanese names. It would help to know the gender, too." Nita poked at her empty plate. "I should probably get going. I always seem to need a nap after I eat." She leaned over and gave Natsumi a quick hug. "If you ever need anything, you're always welcome to stop by my duplex, okay?" Natsumi Tanaka Natsumi shrugged, not sure if she should even give the child a Japanese name since she was on an america Island... For a breif moment the Island hit her, what exactly would they do to her child...? Turn it into some sort of animal as well? Or... Her thoughts were deterred by Nita's voice. Natsumi smiled and nodded, returning the hug happily. "Okay... And I as well," she paused, realizing her speech hadn't come out quite right. "That is... If you need anything, you can come to me, too." she gave a nod as she finished, finding that one to be more correct as she took a last drink of water and started to pick up her dirty dishes. Nita MacNeal Nita put up her dirty dishes and went through the buffet line again, gathering up more bamboo, fruit, and some hard-boiled eggs. She returned to the table, but didn't sit, resting her hand on Natsumi's shoulder. "You take care of yourself, okay? And if anything else exciting happens, let me know." She grinned, happy to share such a secret with a friend. "I'll see you around." That said, Nita left the cafeteria with her food supplies, ready to take a nice nap in her large, comfortable bed. Natsumi Tanaka "Okay." Natsumi promised, smiling some as she went to do the same with her dirty dishes. She'd pause to grab a few snacks as well, chips and the like... and some more water. She seemed to be having a love of water everytime she noticed it lately... Either way, her duplex seemed inviting. And she was mor than curious to read up on the new developments of the unborn child.

.:Karate Kicking baby?:. Natsumi was eager to get back into her duplex, now with a full and fluttering stomach. As soon as her duplex door closed behind her she bee-lined it straight to her breifcase, flipping the number code and poping it open to get her pregnancy magazine that was safely locked away. She quickly flipped through the pages, until she found one that seemed to cover her topic of interest. Her eyes scanned over the plage, grinning ear to ear as the description of baby-kicking feelings was described as she had felt. So that meant... definatly atleast 4 months pregnant by now.
The pregnancy was getting better... The baby was now 'talking to her' in a way... stating it's precense... The morning sickness was getting less nad less frequent, though her mood seemed to be fluctuating more often it wasn't enough to grab her attention just yet. The only thing that seemed to be strong was the odd cravings for food...
Then agian.. Hamburger and peanut butter was much less stomach turning to her than the other cravings she was having... Specifically for bugs and the like. She ignored those, keeping her stomach full so she could resist such disturbing actions.
Either way, she was happy for the moment. Ignoring the pressures of the Island and everything about it... For now, it didn't matter that she had a tail and scales, her baby was there with her. And somehow.. that was reassuring.
