It's pretty obvious how it's spelt by what they've said. I just wanna say that I prefer 'Kikyou' (and Sesshoumaru, Shippou, Kouga, etc.). I also prefer Tessaiga over Tetsusaiga. This website pretty much explains everything about the Tessaiga. You can also search for information on the characters and stuff. It's pretty useful.

Well, I am more used to Kikyo, but I use both. I really don't care how to use it. If more people in the guild like it Kikyou, then I'll spell it Kikyou.

It seems like lots of people prefer "Kikyou".... (as do I). It just looks better, at least to me. Then again, I spell things "Sesshoumaru", "Kouga", etc....

Being native Japanese speaker who moved to the States not long ago, I'll kind of "take advantage" of this question...I guess.

Written out in Japanese, either Katakana, or Hiragana, you can translate letter for letter in English. Thus you get Kikyou. But since English, I guess is based on pronunciation, Kikyo.
Either is correct anyhow.

I'll give you another example. Tokyo is English. Translating word for word, the correct form is Toukyou. Weird for you, I'm more comfortable with that spelling. But there is no real way of spelling foreign words.

I believe they're both correct. Kikyo is English and Kikyou is Romanji.

"Kikyou" is the proper Japanese term, but when it translates to English it looses the "u" at the end. Either way is perfectly fine, though.
