((Maa maa, but some of you brought up some very good points. Here's the deal, Iruka-kun is nearing the jounin level, though his intelligence isn't as great as the ones he stated, but he's good enough. Ne, it makes sense, doesn't it - even to a common minded person. He's how Iruka figured it out.
"Sand ninja - hint hint - they use sand and earth. Pits, quicksand, duststorms, violent rain."
"Border crossing + shaky alliance = traps and hinderance. If there are traps that equals enemies."
It's not hard, and it's not like he was seeing into the future, per say. He was just being the ninja he is. ^^ ))

Eden looked up from where she was sitting. "Jace!" she called softly. "Be careful. There are probably a lot of traps around here..." she said, looking around slowly for anything out of the ordinary. "Iruka-sensei, what should we do if one of us gets caught in a trap?" asked Eden, looking vaugly troubled.

Eden nodded, and carefully followed Iruka. Traps this far from the border? If they had set up traps this far, what would the Sand nin have at the border? Eden moved her eyes from side to side restlessly. It would be better to spot the traps now then too late.

Eden nodded again and broke out into a sprint. The trees flashed by, and she was careful to watch for traps and Sand nin. As they got closer to the border, the traps would most likely start showing up - or not - more and more often. And when they actually reached the border... who knows what would happen then?

"How could I be so blind as not to detect his movements?!" Itsu thought, displeased with himself for being so foolish as to let his awareness slip.
Itsu didn't care as much that Mokumoku had heard his Mr. Sawlegs comment. Itsu just could not respect someone who would act so disrespectfully to Gaara! Not to mention he didn't like the thought of being led by someone foolish, or suicidal, enough to do such a thing. The fact that he acted so superier to everyone else, was one of the traits that Itsu disliked most about him. In addition to that, it isn't helpful to someone in a leadership position.
But the fact remained, Itsu would have to work together with him (as best he could) regardless of his own opinins. Gaara wills it, so shall it be done!
Itsu prepared himself as he was instructed. "Understood." Itsu said with renewed confedence in himself, his team, and their mission.
