Demare grew distracted as a loud crash nearby filled his ears, his bi-colored eyes turning toward the trash can that was beginning to roll away. They then turned to the familiar woman walking toward the two, and he sat back upright on the bench.
"Miss Kimiko?" he blinked, a bit surprised to see her there. She wasn't with them before, was she?

"Mom?!" Mayu gawked in disbelief, a bright pink rushing to her face. She had heard of overprotective moms, but was stalking them really necessary? It was preposterous, though she expected nothing short of her guardian.
The man quickly wheeled away his bicycle, not wanting to be caught in the conflict. Kimiko gave a sheepish grin, rubbing her aching back, which was now emblazoned with a skid mark.
Stuttering, the black-haired girl sunk to her feet as she realized the embarassment she had caused herself. She really would have to pick her hiding spots more carefully.
After a few more moments of sitting and blinking, she stood up, and with a wave of her hand, dashed away before the two kids could pummel her for spying on them. There were times where you had to run, and this was certaainly one of them!

Demare could only blink and stare as Kimiko ran off, not really sure what to think of what just happened. So she'd been stalking them? But... why? Mayu was able to take care of herself, wasn't she? Or was it because she was with him...?
"Somehow, I think this is my fault," he said quietly, sinking back down into the bench again. The ice cream was melting, most of it dripping down and all over his hand, but he didn't seem to notice.

Mayu continued gawking as she watched her guardian run off so suddenly, jaw dropped. "She's so embarassing!" She fumed quietly, though she knew how overprotective her mother could be sometimes.
"Don't worry, Kimiko's always been a little ... strange." Mayu stated, smacking her hand to her forehead. Noticing the melting ice cream that Demare was still holding on to, she pulled out yet another handkerchief (she had tons and tons stashed away for unknown reasons), and handed it to the boy with a smile.
Standing up, she looked toward the park's entrance. "Do you want to go now, or are you still feeling tired?" She asked, eyes fixed on a small pigeon which was hopping about the sidewalk.

Demare looked to the handkerchief for a moment before noticing his hand. Yep, today just wasn't going well. Wiping off his hand, he managed to stand up from the bench, feeling much better than he had before sitting down.
"Yeah, we can go," he told her, trying to dust off some of the dog hair that was still on him. "Anywhere you'd like to go first?"

"Your choice," Mayu grinned, knowing herself that if she was made to decide, she would pick something stupid like studying the trees about the park and giving them names. She was woefully clueless when it came to choosing fun activities, she had concluded a while ago.

Demare thought about it for a moment, wondering what they should do. They could take a walk, but they already had a good run. There was the fountain, or the pond, but there were a lot of people around them at the moment, so it would be difficult to get a good look at either.
"Why don't we check out the playground?" he suggested with a smile. "I remember them having swings, some sort of teeter-totter, this thing that spins..."
Clare himself was still really a child at heart. He liked coming to the park and playing with Manior, unlike Demian who preferred to stay indoors during the day.

"Sure!" Mayu replied happily. She loved playgrounds, and they were always the first stop on any trip to the park she took with her little sister. She especially liked the jungle gyms, though she wasn't particularly good at them and usually fell off after one or two bars.

As Demare lead Mayu over to the playground, he was a bit surprised not to see as many children around as there usually was. Normally, the playground was bustling with little screams, childish laughter, and kids running around all over the place. Today, it was fairly calm, most everyone by the fountain and the pond. Perhaps it was the weather... It WAS rather warm today, and he even left his scarf at home.
"So..." he started upon arrival, "what would you like to do?"

"I ... don't know." Mayu replied, with a nervous chuckle. Usually, when you dragged someone out of their own house, you usually had something planned in mind, an activity of some sorts. She had no clue at all as to what to do!
"How about the teeter-totter?" She suggested with a shrug, for that was what she had seen first when they arrived. The swings were nice, but her branches acted as a sort of parachute when coming down and she usually skidded to a stop after one or two swings.

Demare blinked a few times before giving her a smile.
"Okay," he agreed with a nod, heading toward the teeter-totter. He was interrupted, however, as a small child stepped in front of him.
"Stahp!" the little boy called, holding a hand up in the air like traffic cops did. "You cannah pass!"
He raised a brow at the child, a but curious as to what he was doing.
"Um... why not?" he asked to humor him, unable to help but smile again.
"Ahm SUPAHMAHN!" the kid cried, posing heroicly. "Ahm heyr to rescu ta laydee!"
Demare turned his bi-colored eyes to Mayu for a moment before looking back to the child. She wasn't in any danger...
"Rescue her from what...?"
"Frahm ta howwibble mahnstah!"
The child then proceeded run himself into the halfling's legs, wrapping his arms tightly around one of them, and started gnawing on his pant leg.
Demare could only wonder why this was happening to him today, finding even this a bit aggrivating. Maybe he should just give up...

Mayu snickered, bursting into laughter once again. It was a bit mean to laugh at other peoples' misfortunes, but when a little kid proclaiming he was Superman came up and bit someone's leg, you just HAD to laugh. Unless, of course, you were the unfortunate "monster'.
Just then, a group of girls, each looking around the age of ten or eleven, strolled around the corner and up the path. They were dressed in fashionable clothing, and each had a pair of large sunglasses perched upon their nose.
The "leader" of the group gestured for her entourage to stop, and lifted her pair of sunglasses up to get a better look at the boy who was being gruesomely attacked by a little boy.
"Ooh, he's a looker!" One giggled, while the rest squealed. They rushed up to Demare, swooning and bursting open in giggles.

Demare didn't understand what was going on. There was a child gnawing on his leg, and all of a sudden a flock of girls had swarmed around him. His entire face grew red with blush as the girls began to swoon and giggle, wondering if he'd done something to make them that way.
"W-w-what's so funny...?" he stammered, not sure of what else to do. A part of him wanted to run away. A part of him wanted to just disappear. However, his body felt stiff and frozen, but not because of fear.

Gasping in short breaths, Mayu finally managed to stop laughing for long enough to get out a response.
"Sorry, it's just ... just ... all of the crazy things that have been happening today!" Exploding into laughter again, she lost her balance and tumbled onto the grassy floor, trying to catch her breath.
"Aw, look at him blush!" The supposed leader proclaimed, while her followers cooed and swooned.

Demare didn't notice that the boy that had attacked him had finally given up and left, slipping out somehow from the circle of girls. Why couldn't he have taken him with him?? Did these guys get some sort of enjoyment out of embarressing him? Why was he even acting like this?!
It wasn't helping that Mayu was simply laughing at him.
"W-w-w-who ar-are you p-p-people, anyway...?" he managed to get out, cowering a little bit as his bi-colored eyes searched for a way out of this mess.
